Yellow Tinted Pics Fix (Fuze)

I have read in a few place that the Sprint cam is better because ATT added some kinda film over the lense to protect it and its yellows our pics.
Here is a picture with stock settings from the Fuze.

Now if you go to the setting menu, chage the White Balance of of Auto and put it to the light bulb. Now you get a picture that looks like this.

I thought it would be cool to add some pictures from other sources I think the Cam on the Touch Pro (Fuze) is amazing.

I just figured this out as well. I know on my Tilt and my Vogue (with Sprint), I had to put it on the moon to get rid of that yellow tint.
I went through and tried all the settings and I think the light bulb one is the best.
EDIT: I think someone should add this to the WIKI.

Agree that the camera on the fuze is really good. I took my Kaiser to SEMA a few weeks ago and that did pretty well, but the fuze camera seems far superior.

I usually just run everything through photoshop, but I've been using photoshop for almost 10 years. I did notice the response of the Fuze camera is MUCH improved over the Tilt camera.

Yeah I got mine also on light bulb. I remember the Tilt had the same problem too.

As always, these HTC cams are not "one setting > all". The reason there are different options is because some are better for different lighting.
Auto stinks, I'll agree with you on that. For standard incandescent lighted indoor subjects, the light bulb would be the correct option (as you have stated noticed here). However, in other indoor-situations as well as larger lit areas the fluorescent (looks like a rectangle with light beams) is a better choice. I found that outdoors, the light bulb option is worse than any of the others.
In fact, my personal experience (at least with my current phone, HTC Titan 2mpix) is best results are acheived with the flourescent setting, but first aim the camera at a bright light source (sun, light bulb, etc) so it automatically lowers the auto image gain and give you more realistic color.

Now, I know the image isn't the sharpest, but that's a function of the titan camera quality. I'm talking about the color balance. Its damned near perfect. You can probably get the same results with the fuze.

I'm having an issue where even the slightest movement creates a blurry picture like the camera is on nightshot (shutter open longer). Is there a way to fix that?

Phone cameras are usually horrible i never bothered with them. But my digi cam just died and i was looking for another when i decided to try the fuze cam. WOW, it is not bad at all, so much so i am deciding if i even really need to buy another digi cam.
Of course a 10mp sounds great, but without spending a dime i can have near perfect 3mp photos

Camera Night Shots

Seen some samples online. Anyone on here have any opinions on night shots with this phone since flash is absent? Does the "night mode" seem to help make the pictures barable...or perphaps does that do better justice than an LED flash would?

I tried "night mode" in my den yesterday with the tv on and just sunlight coming through the shades, it was worthless. The only thing that showed up on the picture was the tv screen while the rest of the picture was black.

Whats your opinon on the camera over-all. I just wish it had flash!

Yes, I wish it had a flash too. Overall I think the camera takes solid pictures, just has to be enough light. Its still just a cellphone camera, though, so dont get rid of your regular digital camera. But in a pinch it takes usable pics. It's better than the 2MP cam on my old iphone.
From pics that I've seen I think the iphone4 camera is the best out there, it has the largest opening that allows the most light in to the sensor. The Droid X also has a great cam, but I think the Galaxy S phones are just behind that one. So its a top 3 cell cam. This, of course, is just my honest opinion.

I have the samsung mythic now (touch screen feature phone) that has flash and it sometimes helps sometimes doesn't. Of course it's an LED flash so sometimes it makes the object just a big blob of light.

I think phones with LED Flashes / Xenon flashes are overrated. More often then not they lend to washing out the picture completely with a white shade over everything. Only thing I ever used my fuze flash for is a flashlight.

i think if you had a iphone before(not saying you did) those people might be able to live but people who didnt maybe not so much

What menu do you use to find night mode? I've browsed through all the menus on the camera, and none were titled 'night mode'

The TV might have been too bright, throwing off the light ratios. I would imagine that "night mode" just auto-magically adjusts the exposure based on an average of the light recorded. Try a picture in the same settings without the TV screen in the picture and see if it improves...

Video camera and auto focus

So we all know how great the camera is on this phone... However I recently went to a "rave" and was taking some video. I noticed that whenever a light would pass the lense the auto focus would try and do its thing and kept trying. Is there a way to turn autofocus off or adjust something to have this not happen??

Cant turn off Auto Focus, but what you can do is tap the screen in a spot you want to focus on, and it will re-focus on that spot.
But here's the trick. When its dark this is especially important. Dont tap on a spot to focus that has all dark colors, your best bet is to tab a spot where two very different colors come togeteher. For example. If somebody is wearing a striped shirt, say black and white stripes. As long as they arent running by or anything drastic like that, their shirt would be a good place to tap to focus, because the camera has the ability to focus until the connecting points (where the white meets the black) is sharp and crisp, not blurry. If you tap on a light, or on somebodies blue pants or white shirt, or tap on a wall or something where in the little box that comes up to focus, if there's no drastic range of colors, it wont focus very well. Look at the picture below:

The top right area is all black, tapping there, the camera has nothing to focus on. It needs to see the edge of something, make it blurry, then adjust until its crisp and clear. As its moving through its focus range, it will see those areas getting clearer and sharper, but once it starts getting blurry again, it knows its past the sweet spot and goes back to it.
Right in the middle of the picture is some person wearing glasses with their hands up and they are lit up like a light is shining on them. Tapping on this persons face where the glasses are is a prime spot, because there's a clear difference between the black glasses and the pink skin, in other words, there's a high contrast where as the blonde girl below her who's wearing a dark colored jacket, tapping on her chest where there's a flap of some sort hanging down, there's very low contrast, because the color of the flap and the color of the jacket are the same, its hard for a computer/phone to distinguish the difference on low contrast targets. The higher the contrast, the quicker and better the focus will be. Best spots to tap on are the lines that intersect the contrasting colors, such as the edge of the glasses where the color of the image changes from black (glasses) to pink (face).

I noticed this too. Tested out the video at a few raves and I constantly had to refocus. My Galaxy Note kept the focus without any issues. But this takes better stills and has the battery I need for 8-12 hours of raving.
Side note: Can't wait for Electric Daisy Carnival this year! 300,000 people and 118 DJs last I checked. I'll be out of control all 3 days.

I noticed it this weekend at a music festival. Every time a light hit it (or strobe lights went off) the phone lost focus and had to refocus. My Atrix was amazing at low light electronic festival videos, so it may be going with me to EDC while my One X stays at home.
Wish there was a solution.

[Q] Razr Maxx HD Camera Focus

When I fist open my camera application to take a picture, I notice that object is in focus. Within a second, you can here the camera focus and the shot is completely out of focus. Touching the screen to re-focus does nothing. The only thing in focus are object 1-2 inches from the camera lens. If you hold it up to take a picture of the room for example it always stays way out of focus.
I've tried different camera applications, a factory reset, and every mode and setting I could find. Last night I got Jelly Bean and it still sets the focal length at the minimum focus. Have any of you had this issue?
I am preparing to send it back to Amazon Wireless for a warranty replacement, but they won't send me a new phone until they receive this one. I really don't want to be without it while things are getting shipped around.

I have the same issue... I think its just crap low light performance, swapping it out will not help.

It does the same thing outside too. I can open the camera app while pointing it at my car. After about 1 second the camera focuses to the shortest focal length and the image is out of focus. Touching the screen pops up the auto-focus box, and after a second it turns green, but the image never changes focus.

Do you get the same issue with the screen-side camera as well? Might help narrow down software vs hardware issue.

Also, with regard to the low light theory, have you taken the phones suggestion, if that is the case, to switch to HDR mode and see if it likes that any better?

To follow up...
I returned my phone to Amazon. They replaced it within a few days. Now I've got a phone that will actually focus!
Now if they could fix the quality of low light pictures...

Strange problem with camera

I noticed some strange phenomenon with my Mate 9 camera - it looks like pictures come out blurry if the phone is tilted upwards / downwards after focus has been locked.
Could someone try to reproduce the problem?
The instructions are as follows:
1. set the camera to pro mode and Manual focus.
2. hold the camera normally in portrait position
3. compose with some distant subject in the middle
4. press on the subject to focus on it
5. press the shutter button to take a picture.
6. tilt the camera upwards/downwards (while keeping the subject in the frame). Do not refocus.
7. press the shutter button to take a picture.
In my case, the picture that I get from step 5 is perfectly sharp, while the picture I get from step 7 is very blurry.
It's important not to refocus after step 6. If I refocus at that point, the picture from step 7 comes out fine.
I noticed this accidentally when I tried to take a vertical panorama and saw that the image gets less and less sharp the more I tilt the camera vertically. Example of such result:

Some observations:
1. It doesn't matter if I'm holding the camera in portrait or in landscape mode; Tilting it upwards / downwards after focus was locked makes the output blurry.
2. The more I tilt it, the blurrier the output gets.
3. The problem appears only when the camera is tilted vertically. Tilting it horizontally is fine. So normal panoramas come out OK, but vertical panoramas do not.
4. The problem appears in both Color mode and Monochrome mode (when only 1 camera/lens module is in use). So at least I know that the problem is not related to the optical image stabilizer (that only the color camera has) or to alignment between the two cameras.
5. It is not a narrow depth-of-field issue: the subjects I checked are very far away from the camera, and basically everything should be in focus. Furthermore, the distance between the camera and the subject is held pretty much constant and still - in one picture they come out sharp, while in another, after tilting the camera upwards/downwards, they come out blurry.
Help to reproduce the problem and to understand it will be appreciated.

Hi, I am facing the same problem, do you have a solution? Is this a software bug or am I doing something wrong?
I this is a bug, I dont understand, why I only find your concern via google...
Even on EMUI9 I have still this blurry vertical panorama issue
