sorry For the failure.
I don't wish the post was not in Q&A

No, not as an end user. The dev could if they were willing, but probably would have done in the first place if they were going to.

Totally different languages of code being used between the two makes it difficult...like the other user said not really probable to be done as an end user of an app...requires the dev to do it themselves...though the process has become slightly easier over time for some devs as there are more tools available and even now companies offering the specific service for porting apps to other platforms...helps those other companies that don't have the staff to handle the port while also supporting the current device app.

Try using AppBrain...it will give you recommended apps that are really useful...
And I know there is an equivalent Android app for every iPhone app that's out there

[Q] Kernel Infomation

Good Afternoon All,
I wanted to introduce myself and ask my first question on xda-developers! My name is Mike, I'm a 21 year-old Computer Science major from the East Coast. I am familiar with Java and have started doing some app-building for the android OS. I have rooted and rommed my HTC Thunderbolt (Cyanogen Mod FTW!) but now I am beginning to read about Kernels.
My basic understanding is that kernels are pretty much what dictate how the Operating System can talk to the hardware. Essentially similar to how drivers work. Is this correct? Also, what benefits do I gain from changing from stock kernel to a user-created one?
Note: I do have a thunderbolt with an unlocked boot-loader. So I was made aware that I could in-fact load a new kernel If I wanted to!
Please excuse me for the noobish question, but if anyone has information I'd be pleased to listen.
Thanks guys!

OS Version Display Tool?

I'm working on a project where I need to interview many people who are not smartphone savvy and most likely will not know what phone OS they are using or even if they have a "smartphone" (Android, iOS, WP7). We need to determine if they really do have a smartphone and if so what version OS they are currently using. Does anyone know of something like a web-based site that would give this information to the user? I found systemdetails.com, but it didn't seem to work for iOS devices. I'm looking ideally for a simple to use and widely available tool (something the user doesn't have to download) to determine this information. Getting version numbers on iOS and WP7 devices isn't too bad as we could give the users directions, but with the Android devices it might be more difficult with the skinning. Thanks for your help!

Well let's try this again. My apologies for posting this in the incorrect forum. Anyone have any ideas on this? Figured I'd give it one last shot. Thank you for the help.
What about browser useragent strings?

Anybody know Bb torch 9850?

BB torch 9850. I work somewhere where they gave me one but I refuse to use it. I'm good with android and love everything about my 3d and all available stuff for it. Still rather a noobie but have alot of fun with rooting all phones near me. Is there anything of the sort for bb. Anything would be better than the way it is, been turned on once. Thanks everyone.

The app itself you can't use because its apples property and source is unavailable. A copycat did come out calling itself siri, the following article describes what you may have seen on youtube thenextweb.com/google/2011/12/31/that-was-quick-google-pulls-official-siri-for-android-app/
Its possible to use siris servers as someone on ios has programmed a proxy however even then each search query needs a unique iphone id which android has not been able to fake.
So in answer to your question no the real siri is not going to be on android but even if source code was available to port it the app still would be useless without iphone id.

Depends on what you are looking for. The appeal of our site is the fact that it holds a VAST amount of information generated for almost 10 years since the early days of PocketPC2000. You don't need to post or even be part of any community in particular to rip the full benefits that the site has to offer. I see that you have been a member for a very long time and I can somewhat understand where your post is going (the implied message). The commercial aspect of the site revolves around the banners which we try to keep to a minimum but to have enough to pay for our costs, which are rather high.
The sites suggested by other people in this thread are indeed good, but again, each site appeals to a specific audience. XDA presents a wider scope than most sites out there.
I hope this helps.
Uhmm...now that i think about, there is this site that should be handy

This is true. I've been to PPCGeeks and MoDaCo, but they kinda fizzled out. In a way, XDA DEVELOPERS has "adopted" their old members.

lol, did crack me up..
The ads are not what influenced my question i use an ad blocker on chrome and can honestly say ive not seen an add on xda thanks to that. What I meant was a forum not attached financially to a store/shop.
XDA is huge and ive been visiting this site for many a moon but I also want to explore other sites and see what else is around as well..
hidden gems and the likes.

Yes. Everything is an issue anymore. Can't even create a device forum easily anymore. It's gotta be "popular enough". Ugh. XDA developers stopped being a Dev site a while ago. It's why I don't Dev here anymore.
