Phone not vibrating
Hey, so when you say not vibrating, do you mean the Keyboard Keys or when your phone rings?

System settings -> sounds
Have you changed the appropriate settings in there?

You need to go into your sound settings and look up the haptic feedback and also 'vibrate and ring' options. Also, individual apps like messaging and gmail have their own separate profiles for notifications, so you may need to go into those settings and check 'vibrate when notified' isn't set to 'never'.
So long as your phone vibrates when you initially turn it on, it isn't a hardware issue. My phone only vibrates when it feels like it. Which is pretty annoying. Consider yourself lucky in that respect

[Q] no message vibration

I flashed my daughters phone to the official upgrade. since then she has no vibration when she receives a text. I have searched and cannot find anything about this.
In settings it's checked to always vibrate, but never does. Not even for a phone call.
any ideas?
Have you checked the settings inside the SMS app and make sure the app is set to vibrate for notifications?
Yes it is. All settings are set to vibrate, but the phone isn't vibrating. Thinking I may need to reflash

Always try a reflash first, typically that will fix these odd issues that other's aren't reporting. Flashing isn't a cut and dried process, I've experienced quite a few bad flashes, it just happens sometimes.

Settings > Sound.... turn off Vibrate and Vibrate feedback
For alternate keyboard specific go to Settings > Language & Keyboard
Select your alternate keyboard settings and should be in there
Thanks,
I tried settings-sounds but all is unchecked. Also I am without alternative keyboard.

Might also need to turn off haptic feedback in the sound settings. I use Swype so can turn it off it its own settings
Just switched back to the default keyboard and it does still give haptic...I use swype so im in the same boat at you eddy.
Just found it:
Settings > Language & Keyboard > Touch Input > Text Input >
Disable Vibrate when typing
Wow, that was buried
Very embarrassing...
The option was exactly where you wrote.
Thank you!

I hate any kind of vibration on my phone. I always download Spare Parts, and disable haptic feedback.

I can only agree, haptic feedback is the worst! Especially on every key press, terrible. I only want vibration for notifications/calls, everything else is just plain uncomfortable.

[Q] handcent 4.0 - no vibration on new sms

I've been using Handcent 4.0 for a long time. I just started noticing that I don't get vibrations on incoming messages anymore.
I'm stock (at the moment), GB, rooted.
I have set handcent to all of the proper notification settings, verified that the phone is set to "vibrate always".
I've rebooted a few times, etc... i've missed messages quite often lately because of this.
Any ideas on the cause?
Thanks!
Any chance your phone has been set to silent instead of vibrate under sound settings?

Vibration for Notifications not working

Ok, I've seen this issue as fairly common, but can't gets it to work. It's a GS3 completely stock running 4.0.2 and I've had it all of 3 days.
Majority of the issues others are having are with not having notification vibration on in messaging settings, which I have triple checked to be on. Sounds settings are all set for vibrate always as well, but it still won't vibrate for any messages or notifications other than calls. It isn't affected by the call/notification volume being on or off either.
It's starting to get frustrating, so if anyone has any suggestions or can give me some direction, it would best greatly appreciated. Also, I think I posted this in the right place and I couldn't find anything similar so I apologize if this has been covered.

Had the same issue. open messages and then (menu)>settings. scroll down to notification settings>vibrate and change to always or in silent mode.
that solved it for me.

Sound and vibration musted be checked in system sound settings.

It is. :/
Still no notification vibration regardless of "silent mode" status (it can be silent, vibrate only, or silent off- no vibration regardless).

Stupid question...is your vibration intensity down all the way for any of the 3 options?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Nope- incoming call and notification are maxed and haptic feedback is about halfway.

Phone puts itself in silent mode. Any ideas why?

Short version: my default setting is vibrate. But recently my phone has been setting to silent without my doing anything. I'll leave me phone alone for an hour or so and when I unlock it I'll have missed calls and texts because it didn't vibrate, and my sound setting will have been changed to "silent" . This doesn't happen all the time, probably about half the time.
Some notes:
- the physical vibration works, I don't believe it's a hardware issue.
- persistent apps I am using: 1 tap quick bar, covinent eyes, onavo extend.
- no custom roms, not rooted.
- I always set my phone back to vibrate. I did to one experiment where I set my ring tone volume at max to see if it would still set itself to silent. Which it did.
- I also did a test where I left my phone out of my pocket to see if maybe I was accidentally hitting the screen and volume rocker. Still changed on its own without me touching it.
- there are no crash reports or force closes as far as I know, and I don't use app killers.
Rant: I'm very disappointed in HTC. The software on this phone is buggy and jittery. And where the heck is my jelly bean?
I uploaded screens of my software information incase anyone's interested.
Please help me with my mystery. I searched the forums for people with similar problems and haven't really found anything.
Thanks!
