I flashed my daughters phone to the official upgrade. since then she has no vibration when she receives a text. I have searched and cannot find anything about this.
In settings it's checked to always vibrate, but never does. Not even for a phone call.
any ideas?
Have you checked the settings inside the SMS app and make sure the app is set to vibrate for notifications?
Yes it is. All settings are set to vibrate, but the phone isn't vibrating. Thinking I may need to reflash

Always try a reflash first, typically that will fix these odd issues that other's aren't reporting. Flashing isn't a cut and dried process, I've experienced quite a few bad flashes, it just happens sometimes.
Hi all,
I've been a member for a while, but this is my first post in a while.
I recently changed my Motorola Atrix to a Samsung Skyrocket. I love the phone, however I am having a little problem. The Skyrocket will not make noise or vibrate for notifications (such as text, or email, facebook, twitter, etc) but will play ringtone for phonecalls. When I restart the phone, it will work maybe for a day, but after that, it stops working again. Sometimes after receiving a call the notifications will start working again. I've checked the volume settings, and the notifications and ringtone settings, and everything like that... it's all normal. Any suggestions? I've been searching in the forums, and other sites as well, but dont seem to find anything.
The phone is rooted, but that's about it, stock rom. I also did a master reset on the phone as well.
I was using go sms but deleted it and the notifications still go silent.
Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks!
Hopefully someone here can help ya. I still have not found a solution
Ome thing I never really thought of was trying an Odin restore back to stock...a full clean slate. If that doesn't fix it then definitely a defective phone

That's what I did this morning. So far it's working perfectly, hopefully it will keep working.
Thanks for the reply!
I installed Go SMS again and seems to be working. What I did notice this time around, is that when I was setting up the notifications for the Facebook app, I noticed the option to choose from the Android System ringtones or from Go SMS. Maybe I had it set up to choose ringtones from Go SMS. Seems to be working fine now.
The notification volume and incoming call volume are seperated. The notification sometimes changes somehow idk how. If you want the incoming and notification to be the same download MySettings. The open the app up and click and hold the ringer icon then itll come up with volume settings. Check the box that says use incoming and notification sound together

Hello,
I've recently flashed to tweakstock 1.4 and PBJ kernel from Tweakstock 1.1 and imnuts kernel. In both cases everything is working quite well (1.4 seems smoother w/ some tweaks I did). In any case since I have gone to tweakstock my vibration events don't work at all. I use the quickpanel toggle (silent, vibrate, vibrate/sound). google voice (sms), k-9 mail, regular SMS dont work however the voice incoming does work (the only one).
What could be causing this. In GV I put on vibrate notification, and K-9, and SMS. For k-9 when I change it to 2 short in the menu it works, but not for incoming.
This happens on vibrate only mode and vibrate/sound. in GV-?Sync and notifications I have text notifications, VM notifications, vibrate, and light turned on. I toggled light (there is not LED on charge) and that didnt change anything.
Help greatly appreciate.
Thx.
Messaging, settings, check "vibration"

Thanks. I looked under messaging->settings->Notification settings
both notifications and vibrate (also vibrate when notified) are checked. I have the same settings for google voice. It's very frustrating. If I manually (not using quickpanel) turn the volume all the way down it goes into vibrate mode, and I can feel the vibration.
have the vibrate set to "always" in sound settings?

yes it is. I am going to flash a factory restore just in case. My youtube app is force closing....
Will report.
it seems there is a bug in my gmail account setting. When I linked my phone to my wifes account the apps work correctly, so I am going to reflash and link without backup (try this). Maybe that will repair my vanilla goog settings.
I read there was a bug on this which there was a patch for gingerbread, but I am not sure it made it into the sammy build. I will check when I get this up.
I think I had issues with 1.1 and what I did was turn off all vibrations, reboot, turn them all on, then reboot again.
Solved the problem for me.

oh well. thx gents. i reflashed and did not have google save my settings. It worked. Definitely a google server bug tho. I will keep the vibration turnoff in my back pocket for next time.
Tweakstock 1.4 w/PBJ and ext4 is just great.
Overclocked to 1.2, changed smartassv2 governor, and now tweaking certain voltage p-states.
Too bad this thing didnt have more RAM...
I installed Go SMS because i love the features especially the pop notification. Using the app, I've come to realize that text messages are not being sent. It just stays there and never sends. I looked at HTC's messaging app and the text also displays there are being sent but never sends.
Has anyone else had a problem sending texts with GoSMS?
I uninstalled Go SMS and using just the default to see if Go SMS was the one causing the issue
maybe I am the only one.
I've had this issue as well. Sometimes it will just say text not sent and never send.
Other times I will get an error saying text not sent but it did indeed send so I end up sending two of the same.
Best thing you can do with this is pull the SIM card and re-insert it. This problem, if existing, affects more than just people who use GoSMS as GoSMS is just a skinned texting surrogate. Sure, it sends and receives texts, but it does so using the frameworks of the main messaging app on your device. I've encountered this problem with the main messaging app, and I just pull the SIM or put it in airplane mode for a few seconds then take it off and it's fixed it every time.
Hope this helps.

Does the issue go away after doing that or does it come back? Should I turn off the phone when I remove the sim or should I do it while it is on?
If a text doesn't send for me I can still send one right after and that one sends fine.
so for the past 2 days i used HTC's messaging app and everything always sent. just now i redownloaded GO SMS and the second text i sent, it did not send so it must be something else

it's an uglier app but I did download it. So far so good
For what it's worth, gosms works fine for me other than the recipient used to get duplicate messages. I froze the stock messaging app and changed gosms settings to control text delivery and it's been all good so far. It's not an ics compatibility issue, it's sense. Hope that helps

I will keep this in mind. I haven't rooted my phone so I can't freeze the message app.

So i have found out what is causing my text not to send. If I reply to a text using the pop notification while I am in another app like Google Chrome or draw something, the text does not send. When I go to go sms, I can see the green arrow showing that it is sending but it never does. The only times I can successfully 100% of the time send a text from the pop up notification is if I am on the home screen instead of within another app. Can anyone else test this for me to see if I am the only one with this issue?

I had the exact same problem with duplicate messages. the freeze worked for me. i had no more issues with messages being sent but i no longer have root access so i can't confirm if that would have changed over time. I have no issues right now.

So even if you reply from the pop up notification while within another app, your text message sends?
Since there is no way to root the AT&T HOX without it being discovered by htc/at&t, I haven't rooted and therefore can't freeze the messaging app

Not sure if you have solved your problem yet, but ChompSMS has worked well for me since the latest update to cater to some of HTC One X's quirks.

I had completely forgotten about chomp. Thanks for reminding me. I started using it and while I still get messages not sending if I reply to a text from the pop up notification, it doesn't do it nearly as much as go sms. With go sms, the message not sending would happen one after another but not with chomp. And even though I don't like the sound, I've set chomp to make a sound after a successful sent message so at least I can tell if my message has sent without having to open the app.
Thanks again for mentioning chomp

I'm having the same issue with texts not sending from the pop up window. It doesn't happen all the time but enough that it's annoying and I always go to the app to make sure it sent, which kind of defeats the purpose of the pop up. I haven't noticed whether it was when I'm in another app or not. However, it's not that it just doesn't send, it's totally lost. There will be no record of it. Other times messages seem to just get stuck sending and I have to click edit and resend in order to get them to go through.
GO SMS has also become very laggy. I can't really type when it's sending or receiving a message. If I'm typing during this time, it's delayed in showing what I've typed and auto-correct and word suggestion don't work. Also, when I leave a conversation and go back to the main screen, it takes several seconds to update the threads. Long enough that I can click on one but then it takes me to the wrong one because it's updated. I thought maybe I just have too many messages. I've set it to limit messages to 700 per thread. Anyone else experiencing these issues? I think I'll try Chomp again until these issues are fixed.
Ok, I've seen this issue as fairly common, but can't gets it to work. It's a GS3 completely stock running 4.0.2 and I've had it all of 3 days.
Majority of the issues others are having are with not having notification vibration on in messaging settings, which I have triple checked to be on. Sounds settings are all set for vibrate always as well, but it still won't vibrate for any messages or notifications other than calls. It isn't affected by the call/notification volume being on or off either.
It's starting to get frustrating, so if anyone has any suggestions or can give me some direction, it would best greatly appreciated. Also, I think I posted this in the right place and I couldn't find anything similar so I apologize if this has been covered.

Had the same issue. open messages and then (menu)>settings. scroll down to notification settings>vibrate and change to always or in silent mode.
that solved it for me.

It is. :/
Still no notification vibration regardless of "silent mode" status (it can be silent, vibrate only, or silent off- no vibration regardless).

Stupid question...is your vibration intensity down all the way for any of the 3 options?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Nope- incoming call and notification are maxed and haptic feedback is about halfway.
