[Q] Left trackpad button slightly loose + Flash on ICS - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
My apologies if this has been asked earlier, but I could not find any such question on the forum.
I got my TF101 with docking station this week and the only hardware issue that I've seen is that the left trackpad button is slightly loose. i.e. I can hear a proper click if I click the trackpad button bar on the right, but if I do the same on the left side, I dont get that feel. Has anyone else experienced that?
My supplier is happy to replace the whole unit but I don't want to pay for the postage charges (which I will have to if supplier finds this as a non-fault). Maybe I'm being too picky about it.
Another question that I wanted to ask was about flash working on ICS. I've looked at existing threads and wiped, uninstalled and reinstalled flash but it still does not work. Please note that youtube works fine in all browsers (Chrome, stock, dolphin HD ), but I cannot play any streaming movies which I can on my Desire HD. I get a lego icon instead. Any help is highly appreciated.

I gather that its just a defective unit as nobody else has had this problem.

If you do a little research you will find that the touch pro/fuse have keyboard issues- it is a hardware issue not software. Many are returning it back to their carriers and exchanging them. Others open them and plug in the wire that might have came out. There is a fix which many, including myself, tried and works. Take the battery out, and press keyboard space key or B in while holding the back...this pushes in any lose keyboard connection it might have. It seems when you put the battery in can loosen that wire. Search PPCgeeks- there are pictures there on how to open it up....scratch that...here is the link: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=62876
That is a temporary fix, eventually it will go out. I had to buy a whole keyboard on ebay for 45 bucks. I got mine and works great from this ebay seller (gotmilk2099)- here is the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Touch-Pro-S...ZViewItemQQptZCell_Phones?hash=item3ef9d2130c

Yea i thought the same thing. but when i push txt and mail on the keyboard, a pttmod error message appears. and when i switch roms, even an earlier version of energy, its totally fixed. but i was warned abut the bugs in energy photon rom. so i was wondering if there's a fix. and yes, i did research. it is software. or else i would have had a new one by now. any thoughts?

[Q] New G Tablet misses screen tap 20% of the time.

Hey Guys,
An old-school alpha-geek, I started on a Radio Shack TRS-80 model 100 (Holy cow I should have kept that) and most recently an iPad 3G. I lead with this factoid only to suggest that I am comfortable with touch screen GUIs. -{)}
With the stock ROM my brand new G Tablet , Screen tapping does not register 20% of the time. Specifically when I press my finger on an icon it often does not launch.
This did not change with the "status update" Viewsonic pushed.
Is this behavior something I should get used to or should I expect a Vegan, tnt, etc ROM flash to rectify?
TIA!

see if Gojimi's calibration app helps?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934500
mildness,
1. No, I would not call that normal. I do think my tablets work better with a firm press of the pad of the end of my finger than with a tap (aka, fingernail?). If it continues and you don't find a solution, I would look at return or swap options.
2. When I got my first tablet, which was way back in November, I barely could get the offscreen search/home/menu buttons to work. I was frustrated and tried everything. Then one day I installed another version -- not sure whether it was an OTA update or a ROM -- and suddenly it was fine!!!! Don't know why.
I know this doesn't "answer" your question -- but I hope I have given you ideas to work with.
Rev
My screen seems unresponsive when it is cold. That usually means right after I boot it up. Once it warms up it seems to work much better.
I didn't notice this when I first purchased it, back in the first week of November. But it was much warmer outside then, and I keep my home cool to keep costs down.

Indeed, it's either this or a defective unit, better exchange it if cal doesn't change a thing...
P.S.
When calibrating, I noticed sometime it was not perfect, so sometime it need a few shot to be perfect, but if you do not see a difference then it's probably defective...
I had the same problem. Search my name and look for a post that I made including directions from another site on how to calibrate your screen.
I am at breakfast now or I would post the link. I was the same way you work and we're just about to return my G tablet. This fixed it 100%.
Just so that you know it is the right post it involves placing a blank calibration.ini file on your sdcard and sdcard 2.
Good luck!

[Q] Screen Sensitivity

Hi all,
This is my first thread so hopefully it will be useful to others as well.
I'd like to try to diagnose a problem with my screen, where a couple commonly-used areas (the backspace on my old keyboard, for instance, the r key, etc) are unresponsive / dead space. The problem got bad enough that I routinely had to turn my phone upside-down to be able to delete characters or finish a sentence.
I ran the CM7.1 rom for for about a year and loved it. However, I recently flashed the existz ICS rom and love it (BR2). Since I've been using the ICS keyboard, the dead spaces have become much less of a problem, but I can imagine it's only a matter of time before things wear out again.
So, is this something I an fix? I know I can buy both replacement screens and replacement screen digitizers (what are these?) on amazon for $20 or so ($40 from other websites). Would buying / installing either or both of these help me out?

This has been covered had you searched a bit. Buy a screen and digitizer combination as you will likely destroy the screen trying to separate them. Go onto youtube and look up replacement videos for how to do this. And now your phone will be fixed. As far as if YOU can fix it or not, I cannot say as I do not know your level of skill.
Having Unresponsive keys on the keyboard and a bad touch screen is two different things. Unresponsive keys on the keyboard was a known gingerbread issue. If your not having issues on ICS I wouldn't worry about it.

Crazy Screen Lag when docked, perfect without...

I was ready to return my Transformer. The lag was unbearable (for a brand new device), it would stutter, even some videos of mine would flicker. I use the dock a lot, and was ready to give up. I undocked it - and all is right with the world again. Same videos (off micro-sd card) that were previously stuttering are now playing beautifully.
I was scared that it might be a hardware error, but I know now that this is something someone can fix! Does anyone else have the same issues? I love the dock, and bought it for increased functionality, and would LIKE to use it as a mini-laptop a lot.
Just curious.
Thanks.

I've noticed this on the desktop screen and in the apps and widgets list, but in my case it was connected to either using touchpad or USB mouse. In this case changing the launcher from stock to custom (like Apex) helps, but I'm not sure this is your case (hope it is, but I haven't noticed any lag when docked and playing videos)

Lucky. What "mode" are you in when docked? And you running full IPS? (Or 'auto'?) I have no idea what it could be. It's not soo terrible that it's unusable, but it's definitely noticeable and annoying even for simple operations. I keep the system clean, not much running in the background. I'm confused - but hoping that future ROM's will optimize the I/O (if that's the cause) when docked.
Thanks.

I barely use IPS+, normally I use it indoors at about 30% (regular IPS mode), but I doubt it's the real issue. Try a different dock maybe (as I suppose you're on .26 firmware already). Not much else we can do remotely, try different dock, try different tablet, update firmware when possible, factory wipe if nothing else helps, or simply send it back. You should be able to watch the movies the same way when docked and when not, so if there is a significant disproportion between these two, I'd consider returning this unit (bundle).

Well...damn. Looks like I might RMA the unit then, and get a new one. Sucks. Been waiting for this device for months! I even did a reset last night, and started from scratch - and still the same result. I was hoping it was a 'common' problem.

OP are you experiencing this problem on your Infinity after operating it after a cold boot up with the keyboard dock attached, or is your tablet already on and you attach it the dock keyboard and experience this issue?
I think I've seen this issue sparringly in my case, attaching it to the dock while on, but not often because I always keep my tablet docked. In most cases this did not occur when I would re-docked with minimum programs running on the Infinity.

I actually haven't tried starting it up without the dock attached (as I just realized what was going on last night) - will try that and report back in a few hours. Thanks for the suggestion!

So, I tried a cold boot and plugged the dock in, seemed fine at first, then started getting laggy again. So, I noticed that whenever I put the dock in, you get the message about using the standard keyboard that matches the ASUS hardware keyboard. (I had Swype enabled.) So, that got me thinking Swype could be a problem. I never knew if it was optimized for tablets, or whatever. So, I disabled Swype, and two other software keyboards just for the purpose of troubleshooting (SlideIT Keyboard and SwiftKey) and am just using the stock keyboards pre-installed.
After disabling those keyboards - for now, the lag seems to have been considerably less noticeable. Of course this is all anecdotal and I don't have any true measurements or stats run to determine anything concrete.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I noticed the same issue when I docked mine. I don't dock mine that often though. This was not an issue with the prime. Wonder if part of it is the resolution.

[Q] Are these problems with cyanogen mod or the actual phone itself?

I'm pretty sure this is a hardware problem but I just want to make sure. I have an HTC Sensation 4G for T-Mobile (using Family Mobile) with Cyanogen Mod 10 installed. The problems I'm having are related to the touch screen. First of all, moving icons is really hard because it's like it doesn't detect that I'm still holding the icon. Thus, if I have an icon on the homescreen that I don't want, I usually have to first drag it up one row, then again and again until I get to the top to remove it. It also sometimes launches the app instead of moving it which is really annoying. The next problem is very similar to this one: whenever I'm scrolling through something (like contacts or a webpage, for example) the scrolling is kinda choppy and it sometimes takes a few swipes for it to actually scroll. It also sometimes opens links or the contact or whatever when I just want to scroll. Finally, long pressing is not reliable at all, it usually just considers it to be a tap. I literally spent like 1 minute yesterday just trying to open a link in a new tab before just giving up.
Oh yeah, I'm also experiencing trouble with the keyboard. Certain keys like "t" "c" and "f" are really hard to press. Whenever I try to type those keys in particular, it chooses the two keys on the sides instead (so if I type "f" it inserts "dg" or "gd" instead). I've installed a different keyboard which has kinda helped but it's still a problem because it slows down my typing to very slow speeds.
So basically, it looks like my screen is messed up, or I though maybe the processor is running too slowly to process the input or something like that. Looks like the screen though because I can sometimes identify "trouble spots" on the screen that cause the aforementioned behavior. Anyone else had problems like this before? I've heard that flashing the right radio can fix things like battery life and performance but I've never heard of something like this before. I bought the phone used on the internet so there's no way to get it repaired (besides paying for it of course, but that's not an option for me right now). The vibration also isn't working so I think it must have been dropped and that's why the vibration and screen are now messed up.

Hi,
I found CM ROMS gave poor screen sensitivity .
Not as bad as you are describing, though.
Have you tried a Sense ROM?
I've never used this rom so I'm not sure weather or not this is a rom issue or not. You can find out by posting this question on their rom site. I have however had similar issues with other roms and the problem was solved once I flashed a different rom. What you can do for testing purposes is download another rom and see if there problem still persists. If it does than you know it's your device. If the issue is gone then the problem would be with the rom itself. Just because no one else is experiencing the issue it does not necessarily mean it's the device. I was using a rom once And had a lot of crazy issues going on. On the rom website they said it must be my device however after I installed a new rom all my issues we're gone never to appear again. So everyone's device is different. Do some testing and that will answer your question. Try out a couple of other roms, if the issue is gone than it was the rom. If it's still present with the other roms then it's your device. Good luck and I wish you the best. Hope this is helpful.

I'll try one today. I've held back from trying different ROMS because I don't want to screw everything up and be left without a phone for a few days. But now it's the weekend so I'll back everything up and try a sense rom.

I tried installing a sense rom but it didn't install correctly. I started the install and one second later it said it was done. When I rebooted it threw me back into Cyanogen Mod 10. Any ideas?
I have elegancia installed now, same problems. i'll be re-installing CM10 since it had some really nice features. I guess I'll just deal with it then.
The only possible solution i can think of is the ground pin.
Check this thread... and i hope it will help you..
