wow! kinda blueish but very nice one
yea thats on the sony i think.. idk looks kinda windows mobile haha
rosie / sense is better IMO, but its still quite good...just a little impractical looking in some places.
looks good. more interested in what it got under the hood though
Its slightly impractical and it won't even work on our phones.
This is from the Sony Ericsson Rachael which has a 1Ghz snapdragon processor. If you think Rosie runs poorly, I can't even imagine how this would run.
1. Not "Donut"
2. Wrong forum
That is definitely from the Sony Ericcson Racheal. It is suppost to be based off of the Android 2.0/Donut but the UI is just an overlay or a sony exclusive UI just like the Rosie/Sense UI is for HTC. Also, good look running a ROM with it on the G1.
It's not "donut", it is sony ericsons ui. Kind of like how HTC has it's own ui.. I don't care for it..
Donut or not it is a UI that is layered over Android just like Sense is layered over Android. 1.5 or 2.0 who cares.
When i first got the G1 last October, the Rosie and this new SE UI is what i was hoping for...i couldn't wait for Touchflo-ish looks came to Android...Now that they are starting to, i have to decide if i want the awesome looking software with lots of features or keep the physical keyboard! Damn decisions!
I upgraded to the G1 from a TMobile Wing and i had a similar issue...the newest ROMs were to big to work nicely with the Wing's hardware...I feel i am in for the same disappointment with the G1 now! Damn you Google for allowing HTC to build a barebone spec device for the first Android device!!!!
Looks nice... now I just need a device with Snapdragon in it...
looks ok... but a little bland imo... I think rosie/sense looks nicer.
Wow! I think it looks hot!! I'm looking forward to the Sony snapdragon phone.
Eh ... looks kinda bland and too blue. Not that impressed. Hopefully they clean up some of the graphics.
looks pretty ugly to me,
I don't like the animated contact cards

ditto.....
As mentioned before, not donut. Threads here are worse than Fox News.
Man that UI looks awfully boring. From a designer's point of view...The floating selector for the contacts is ok, but there's way too much blue which makes everything feel muddy, and there's little style. But's there's still time for a lot of tweaks hopefully...otherwise meh.
Sense is better by far at this point.
i only like the floating contacts, and animations.. everything else looks dull.
I dont often post however I'm increasingly becoming an android junkie and the Infuse is one of my favorite android phones that I've owned! (Atrix, Inspire, Nexus One, Droid)
Just thought I'd let everyone know of a sweet launcher that I've found thats very simple and attractive and just works!
https://market.android.com/details?id=info.tikuwarez.launcher3&feature=search_result
Launcher7 is a sweet Windows Phone launcher that looks just gorgeous on the Infuse's big 4.5 screen.
Has anyone else tried this launcher? I dont think it will replace ADW for me but I still appreciate good work from application developers!
Im actually digging it. lol i really like WP7 but love android way to much to give it up.
best of both worlds.
As i'm seeing all the love for Windows Phone 7, and honestly, i just don't get it. I've used WP7 display devices, i just really don't like the UI, I fail to see the appeal. I understand how tiles and app hubs and everything work, but, as i said, i just don't see the appeal. And now with Windows 8 coming out, more people love the metro tiles. I just don't get it.
Am i the only one who dislikes the Metro Tiles UI? It often feels like it, especially over on cnet >_>
I actually like the WP7 Metro UI but I'm not sure about win8. Not really liking the metro ui cover over win7.

It's more about the elegance and simplicity of operation. WP7 just is the smoothest, leanest, cleanest mobile OS yet. And the style I liked from long before it was released. It's one of those fashion things, I think, that either people will love or hate it. I just happen to be in the camp of those who love it. It's different than all the others and comes from MS.
My opinion is it will become a leading system in a while.

Couldn't have said it better myself, my friend! It's extremely clean and smooth. Very fast and beautiful UI. It's pretty simple, but still nice looking. I don't think it'll be the leading OS, but that doesn't mean that it isn't good. I am happy because when I do get my next phone, I will have plenty of choices!

Time will tell. MS even said they will be ruling the mobile OS market by such and such date, which I can't remember. That doesn't mean they are toking a little too heavily on the wacky weed, but you never know.
WP7 actually shows that "different" can be done properly. A lot of people moan and groan that there really isn't any way to make things different. Case in point: Apple sues Samsung over the UI of their phones because they aren't different enough. Then people complain that the icons are icons and you really can't make it different. MS just did. MS made a completely different system and an excellent one that I feel is better than iOS.
Wp7 is good imho, but it's insane to waste an eventual 4.3" screen with just very few tiles, it kinda kills the point of having a good screen...at least on android you can fill it with all sort of widgets, icons and crap. "Minimal" style, tho many might like it, is not good for any os that wants to become mainstream (imho), especially because you can't change the appearence in any way...

The tiles can be live. They are meant to be more than simple icons. They are meant to be able to show up-to-date information and provide immediate visual access to the underlying app.

Nope, your not the only one that dislikes it.
I gather from the fact that sales of WP7 are disastrous, and there's hundreds of new WP7 devices at fire sale prices on just about every online auction site, it would be logical to deduce the majority don't like it, as that is the first thing that hits you in the face.
If it IS implemented on W8, it better be able to be disabled, because I'll jam toothpicks in my eyes before using that **** on a desktop, bad enough wasting space with overgrown idiot squares on a handheld without castrating efficient use of a desktop.
Personal choice. Android interface to me is basically SPB mobile shell and iOS is what it is. After many years of using the plain WM interface all of them are an upgrade. I like the way the WP7 interface can be expanded and integrated while maintaining versatility. In fact the whole OS is a best of all worlds of Android, iOS and WM with the Mango update. While not as open as WM or open source at all like Andoid, it is a great mix of the freedoms of those systems and stability of iOS without feeling like you have a "dumb" machine.
I had thought we'd left CGA colours back in the early 80s where they belong, but MS had other ideas.
It's a duplo phone that managed to halve Microsoft's market share.
Yup, twice as many people preferred WM6.5 which tells you how bad WP7 really is.
Sure you'll get die hards trying to convince the world that they haven't made a mistake in choosing a WP7, they'll deny that the transitions are there to just hide the lag and actually make everything long winded, they'll try and claim lists are so much better than nice finger sized icons, or that some basic feature it is missing (that your cheapo phone 10 years ago had as standard) will come in the next update, or the one after that, or the one after that, or somewhen in the possible future.
I agree with you. It's kinda ok how it functions but I don't see the appeal in it or the "fun factor" of like Android.

I personally like the idea of a smooth and fluent idea, especially because it doesn't try to copy the iPhone. But besides all the smoothness it is very, very limited and too simple for my taste.
maybe they want to look more professional ..... i think....but for me its Simple i like it..

I am also not impressed by windows metro tiles UI... no comparison with android or iphone
On the iPhone/iPod Touch, there is an app called DreamBoard. What DreamBoard does is incredible. Its been a really long time i've touched it since i've had my Droid incredible 2 and lately i've been really interested in the WP7 Launcher and everything. I recalled the page, and the community apart of DreamBoard ported windows phone 7, called it OS7 and it exploded. Before the WP7 phones came out, my friends had it on their iPods and iPhones, which then convinced them to get droids and WP7s because it was possible to port over anything and everything. Now what im asking, is how possible is it to use those mods? The pages are below showing you and explaining what it is exactly. I did buy DreamBoard from Cydia a while ago to support. Like i said, There are so many Mods and so many coding tutorials i was wondering if it could be possible to port all those over. Check it out, and tell me what you guys think. I'd love to see this happen!

DreamBoard is amazing but it's a major RAM hog on my iPod.

It is, but the Droids today have a LOT more power than the iPods and iPhones its made for. Thats another big thing
Wow I never even heard of DreamBoard but I'm glad I just read
This..
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions"
Have used dreamboard, but to be honest it just accentuates why I miss android, shows to me just how basic the iPhone ui really is, great mod, but once you have gone through this much modifications to your iPhone you really have to ask yourself, is the iPhone right for me.

Mhm i do agree, but to me i see it as much more making the phone do what you want it do to. I do love my droid, but i'd really truly would love to see this. I'm beginning to think about how i can use all those mods and mod my WP7 Launcher
it would be nice to have a launcher like the dreamboard that allow you to customize your phone freely.
on the other hand there is something called Go launcher for androids which is much nicer than iphones. it has some great widgets which iphone people been dying to copy and especially the live wallpaper which the dream of having lol
sorry for reviving the thread, but have you seen sweeterhome? it does the same as dreamboard, with some differences.
Sorry didnot use dreamboard before.
Thank you useful information.
Metamorph was used sort of similarly but ultimately seems to have died off (compared to the days of the Dream)
