Convert Android Dev Phone to T-mobile image

Hi,
I'm considering purchasing the android dev phone since I'm not on the t-mobile network and need the phone w/o a contract. I'm aware that the latest version of the dev phone allows you to install paid apps, but not locked apps.
My question is, is there any way to convert my dev phone to an (unlocked) t-mobile image so that it will support paid and locked apps?
Please excuse me in case my question hasn't been framed properly or if it has been asked before, I'm new to these forums and the whole G1 bit.
Thanks in advance.
I'm also curious about a similar question, which is precisely the opposite:
I have a Tmobile phone, running JF1.42. If I change my firmware to ADP1.1, is that going to cause me to not be able to view locked apps on the market?
If you purchase the Android Developer Phone, yes you can flash it to the T-Mobile firmware (search forums for downgrading to RC29 using DREAIMG.NBH and etc) and no, this will not affect your unlock. The unlock is at a separate level (research baseband, and cellphone unlocking).
If you change your T-Mobile G1 to the ADP1 image, yes, you will lose paid apps in the market. Google is blocking the ADP images from accessing the paid apps. (from what i've been told this is done through a user-agent check, and not device id, although i could be wrong).
Hope this helps you guys out
Only protected Apps are not accessible by Dev phones.
Not all paid Apps are protected, only few paid Apps are protected.
As you can see from my sign., I have a T-Mobile G1 phone with a mod Dev firmware. I can buy applications, however, I can't even see protected Apps.
One more question based on this. I've been reading through the forums and I've read that the dev phone comes with a DEV SPL. So basically I wanted to clarify that, the SPL doesn't matter if it is DEV/HARD. I can install the RC33 image by doing the whole RC29 downgrade, etc?
Probably way off here, but if anyone can point me in the right direction. Basically what I'm trying to do is, purchase a dev phone, get the latest rc series on it (and hopefully receive OTA updates). Or is getting OTA updates a bad idea? and I should continue to manually update the image as and when new ones are released?
Thanks in advance.

NEEED HELP! and have any other the same problem???
big thx
Yeah just flash your ROM there are some posts about that in here, but be carefull and chose the right ROM for the right device PS i have not test this but i belive its safe as long you know what your doing by reading every step. i hope that this will help you out
MS fixed the hole that the ChevronWP7 unlocker was using in the NoDo update (7390). You seem to have skipped NoDo and gone straight to the minor security update (7392) but updates are cumulative, so you will have gotten the Chevron hole closed too.
There are a few options here, though.
1) Get an official unlock. If you're a student with a .edu email address, this is free (through Dreamspark, I think). Otherwise, it costs $99. http://create.msdn.com has more info.
2) Restore your phone to 7008 using the Zune software (Settings -> Device -> Update). Then unlock using Chevron, and apply the hacks to prevent it from re-locking. Then re-update.
thx for your fast reply's !
that are bad news for me -.-
is anybody here who have also the same problem like me and have a solution witch worked?
or is it maybe possible to unlock the phone with the new update?
i dont't want to hard reset my phone -.-
We need another method
What we need, especially those of us running Windows XP on disk space restricted PC's, with a Samsung Focus, is a method to unlock that does not require the installation and use of that disk hog Windows Phone Developers Tools. There must be another method that does not require this full install, but possible just some of the connectivity files. Wish someone would come up with it. I have no interest in stealing apps or anything like that. I would just like to be able to load custom ringtones and make some registry changes. Such a simple thing that has proven to be a nightmare using Windows XP.
@JamesAllen:
*WHY* would you run a 10-year-old OS, on a computer with such a restricted disk space that the tools are a burden (agreed they're large, but hard drives are about $0.04 USD / GB right now), and then want to hack on a cutting-edge smartphone OS?
Working to provide a low-footprint, downlevel-OS-compatible tool yourself is great, and I'm sure some people would love to have it. If you want somebody else to do it, though, you may get a better response if you provide a better reason than "my computer is so out-of-date that I could get a 3x better one for less than the cost of my new smartphone."
Oh, and for the record, I'm pretty sure the Developer Registration tool (used for official unlock) and its dependencies, including Zune, comes to less than 200 MB (the Zune install folder is <80 MB).

What phone do you have?

[Q] Is my HTC HD7 still Interop-Unlocked? How can I know that?

My HTC HD7 is running the latest version of Mango and the last firmware version (not installed the 2012 January update yet). I Interop-Unlock it from the "7.0" version of Windows Phone and now I'm running Mango and I can deploy and run apps like Screen Capturer, CSharp___DllImport, Stop the Music! and TouxhXperience but I can only deploy apps like SMSBackup and TouchXplorer, beacause once these started, nothing happens. So, am I still Interop Uncloked or not? How can I know it?
As far as I know, your phone is still interop-unlocked. You can deploy apps that require interop to the phone without error, right?
Also, I am pretty sure those apps do not support the HD7 (I'm pretty sure the SMS backup one doesn't. And the TouchXplorer one doesn't work for my HD7, either)
Hope that helped! (And yes, my primary phone is an HTC HD7)
as i see your phone is still interop unlocked and those apps haven't support for HD7

Yes, thanks a lot!

HTC Arrive, can I backup SMS before flashing custom rom?

I'm new to this game, but have an HTC Arrive and want to "unlock" it, from what I can gather, this is fairly complicated and as such the easiest way is for me to flash a custom DFT rom that is already unlocked.
Thing is, I want to save some of my SMS messages before I flash, as I assume they'll be erased.
Is there anyway to do this?
Thanks!!!
Probably not
I think that the snake bites its own tail here: On unlocked phones, no apps are allowed to access the sms store in order to back it up, there are only such apps for unlocked phones ...
That's pretty much the way it is, sadly. You could roll back to a pre-Mango backup (if you have one) and try backing up whatever you had back then (although I don't even know if the current apps will work pre-Mango anymore) but there's been no known way to interop-unlock the Arrive (due to it not being able to run Connection Setup) so you'll need to use a custom ROM to have much unlock on Mango or later.

Windows phone system broken!

I tried to install gun bros this morning and halfway thru the installation it freezes
After reseting the phone, i cannot access the following
Zune
Marketplace
Settings (barely) --> cannot go into factory reset
xbox live
Camera (barely - take a photo and it gets stuck)
Internet (barely - cant access favorite)
ALL THIRD PARTY APPS ==> CANNOT ACCESS
The following still works
People
Picture
Messaging
methods tried
1. Sync with pc - see if it automatically fixes = no
- cannot sync media
- cannot access backup
- shows the following error message when syncing
http://www.zune.net/en-AU/support/w...help_originalid=C00D124D&webhelp_locale=en-AU
2. Switched battery, took out the sim card
I am not updated to Tango yet.
Is there anyway other than hard reset this phone? T_T
Does anyone know if you factory reset a phone, can it still go back to using the old backups?
Yes, you can still restore from backups after a hard reset. I've done it a few times on a couple of different handsets.
What model of phone is it?
Have you installed your own SD card in it (replacing the built-in one or adding your own, depending on model)?
Have you been messing with it in any hacky way (for example, do you have WP7 Root Tools installed, or have you flashed a custom ROM)?
Mozart 7 - chevron unlocked
No custom sd or rom
I ended up resetting it and return to my old backup. But now I don't have tether update anymore from HTC and the only update I keep receiving is tango... And I don't want to update to tango because I will lose my chevron unlock!
The frustration sigh..

Do you mean ChevronWP7 Labs unlock, or the original Chevron Unlocker hack? If you've managed to carry the unlock hack forward this far (i.e. to Mango), you must have already interop-unlocked your phone. In that case, your best bet is to use WP7 Root Tools and follow the instructions on WindowsPhoneHacker about how to upgrade to Tango without your phone connecting to Microsoft to validate its unlock status. Even if you don't have WP7 Root Tools installed right now, your firmware version may now be compatible after you restored that backup.
If you have a Chevron Labs unlock, then you also now have a free AppHub account for official developer unlock, and that will give you the same amount of unlock access as Chevron Labs unlock does.
Lol I'm on chevron original unlock! Carried till latest mango with no interop unlock! I know that after 1 of the HTC update I couldn't use the registry editor anymore.
My current problem is that I restored to a backup without tethering, and I can't get that update anymore because I keep receiving the tango update instead

All of the published ways to carry your original Chevron unlock forward to Mango also included interop-unlock (which is just the removal of the app sideloading limit), although you may not have known that.
I repeat, what firmware version are you on right now? Also, even if it doesn't *work*, can you at least launch the registry editor app? The answer to the first question will tell me how many HTC updates you have currently (and therefore what hacks can be used). The answer to the second will tell me whether or not you are, in fact, interop-unlocked (if you can launch apps like Registry Editor at all, regardless of whether they work, you're interop-unlocked).
Um ur actually talking to the same person on the mango interop unlock thread... Lol
OS version:
7.10.8107.79
Firmware revision number
2250.21.50001.707
Radio software version
5.69.09.05a_22.50.50.21U
Bootloader version
5.12.2250.5(139188
U pointed out it is 50001 already so it should be v2
But I replied that I have never applied the interop hack and I DO have access to registry editor still right now
Thank you for your responses, hopefully I'm not confusing u too much.

The hack to carry your Chevron unlock forward to Mango *is* an interop unlock. There's many ways to apply the hack; the one you're probably thinking of is special only because it works for people who are already on Mango and didn't prepare their phones in any way beforehand.
That said, your firmware version is too high, as you say. If you don't downgrade that somehow, you won't be able to install WP7 Root Tools and therefore will lose your hacked unlock when you upgrade to Mango.
