Era G1 is polish T-Mobile G1. Is there any newer ROM's version for this phone? I have this one (look at picture).

You can flash any ROM available on this forum. Especially JF's versions!

I am thinking about buying myself T-mobile G1. What I need to know before that is:
firstly: is there any way to switch off constant internet connection on G1 as the internet services in my country are quite expensive and I would like to have control over them? I dont really need sync with my google account (I see some other advateges on this phone than "just" that) and would like to use Internet only when i really need it (not when G1 thinks I need
secondly: is there any way to update G1 OS via standard PC? As far as I heard each update weighs some MB, which i prefer to download on my PC and then to G1
I've been looking for answers to my questions over the Internet (xda developers etc) but didn't really find a direct answer.

Yes. By default only the t-mobile apns are set up. As long as you don't actually try to enable your networks apn, you won't get 3g\edge. You could just go in and delete all the apns just to make sure.
Yes. Google stores the update files on their websites and we usually find them a little after they come out. But you could just do everything over wi-fi including gmail, browsing, etc.

Copy protected apps on ADP, using RC33 image

Can the RC33 JF build see copy-protected apps in the market place? I *think* it can, but I'm not 100% sure...
If it can, has anybody given any thought to running RC33 JF to legally buy and install copy-protected apps, extract them (since it's still rooted) to the sdcard, reflash ADP1.1, and install the extracted apps? I'd hardly consider it piracy by any means since I'm paying for the apps, and it'd give me BetterCut, some of the games, etc, on an ADP1.1 build... I know they wouldn't get updates from the marketplace with out the process being repeated, but, an initial version just might be worth the hassle... especially since all of the good free apps seem to be converting to "lite" versions of their former selves, with the new "paid" versions being the only ones to retain all the features of the original...

Im not sure if what i think is true but i thought that the app were linked to your gmail account so that if you switch phones or firmware you should be able to still download the program but im not sure someone correct me if im wrong

No offense but, you shouldn't be asking this if you're using adp. You should already know how and I doubt anyone will post the directions since it can be used to pirate/steal apps.

yes that would work (i have tried it myself) but if you want protected apps that bad you should just switch to rc33 and stay with it. there arent any real advantages to adp

Are we talking about rooted RC33 or non-rooted RC33? I tried to flash my phone to rooted RC33 to see if I can buy protected apps but I didn't see any just like when I'm on ADP.

Can anyone confirm that as well? A lot of apps have disappeared for me with ADP1.1 and I'm considering redoing the phone to a rooted RC33. Is the rooted RC33 also detected and blocked from seeing these apps?

No but it does take time. I switched to RC33 for this reason alone and it took nearly a week for the Market to see I was no longer on ADP.

i thought the whole thing with the DevPhone release was an unlocked (root'd) version to develop apps etc .. so with JFs RC33 we HAVE the access to do anything we want and therefore do not really need ADP
it seems as tho for 98% of the population we don't have a real need for the DevPhone side of the G1

I never had paid-for-apps removed from my purchase ability when using ADP. *shrug*
So in a rooted 33, I could still see the same pay-for-use apps. With that being said...I don't know if there are any issues with paying for the apps, backing them up, and then using them on the same phone with ADP. You aren't stealing or sharing as you are still using it on the same ONE physical phone you purchased them on. Of course, do make sure there are no EULA/TOS agreements you have to "sign" or have "signed" stating that you will not do this...

i've put rc33 on my dev phone, and paid apps started showing immediately.

I have a rooted UK G1 with RC9 in Denmark. Had it for about a week now, no paid apps yet :-(

I *think* you need to be running both a non ADP image AND use a SIM card from one of the Android Market enabled countries (US/UK). RC33/RC9 won't be enough as long as your SIM is a Danish one.
I might be wrong, I hope I am, but unfortunately I think this is the way it is.

When I was skimming for some things and found out what database it was located it. If someone would like to try flipping the value from true to false and seeing if it works - I can send you directions.

For those who can still buy apps on ADP1 it's b/c those app aren't protected. You essentially have 4 types of apps:
Free - Protected
Free - Unprotected
Paid - Protected
Paid - Unprotected
ADP can't see anything that's PAID - Protected (not sure about Free - Protected).
For instance ADP can't see aHome (Paid for version) or any of the CapcomMobile games.
This is what I found anyway after moving to ADP today.

[Q] How to unbrand Samsung Focus

I am not sure how to unbrand my ATT Samsung focus so it can be an open market device and can recieve updates as they come?

Not sure what you mean by open market device?, but i do have a xap that will allow you to unbrand it and also rebrand it. By unbranding it does not allow you to see more in the market if that what your thought may have been?

Unbranding allows you to receive updates (you know, like the OP said... the things that come over Zune) as soon as they are available. Some mobile operators don't release the updates on time, so you might have to wait weeks or (on occasion) months.
It's somewhat dangerous, though - if your phone is a mixture of branded and unbraded ROM components (some from stock, some from updates), it's in an untested state and there may be problems. If you re-brand after installing the update, you may later get an MO-specific update to bring your phone back onto the official update path... or you might not.
Also, if you want to force updates, there's another method that may work better: sending update CABs rather than doing the updates through Zune.

"Open market" is a term used to describe phones which are sold un-branded and not SIM-locked. They're relatively rare in the US, but are the rule, not the exception, in most of the world. Open market phones are not customized for their carrier, so they may lack certain useful carrier-specific features. However, they also lack carrier mandated modifictions that may lower the quality of the OS (for example, AT&T removing the 2G/3G toggle option from their stock ROMs).
According to the guys at the Microsoft store, the Lumia 800 is only being sold open-market in the US, for example.

you have two choices to update the new version of OS,change to the phone registry or reture to 7004 version when your phone is running 7720,then flash the custom rom from dft(dark forces team),and your phone can update to 8107 or higher version of WP7.5 easily.

In all my excitement over Tango, I neglected to read any of the warnings posted around the forums/web. I installed Tango via the cab sender method (neglected to make a backup) and everything still worked, or at least the homebrew apps I launched still did. Searching the forums, I found the Samsung firmware somewhere in the replies to the cab thread, and pushed it also. This was late at night and it wasn't until the next day I noticed I can't launch almost half of my homebrew apps. It's said restoring from a backup (don't have one) or flashing back to Mango is the only way to fix this. Is that true? Well ****. Because there is no ROMs (stock nor custom) for the Focus S..
What should I do?

Yeah... I want to say you're unfortunately screwed :-\.

To make matters worse, the Wireless manager no longer appears to work for configuring MMS when carrier unlocked. I guess I'll just go back my Quantum's for hacking and hard reset this device ..ill wait a while though.

A) you can still run
B) you marked as Trusted in WP7 Root Tools?
It sounds like what happened is that your phone reverted from interop-unlock to simple dev-unlock (you presumably have an AppHub account?). However, this does *not* revert root-unlock as applied by WP7 Root Tools. Root Tools itself requires ID_CAP_INTEROPSERIVCES, and as such can't be run without interop-unlock. However, the apps that it has marked as Trusted will continue to run with full permissions (root unlock).
So, here's what you do.
First, identify an app that you can run (i.e. that isn't interop) and that is marked as Trusted.
Second, take the GUID of that app, and use that GUID to replace the ProductId of the Tango-update-workaround app (which essentially just restores interop-unlock).
Third, remove homebrew apps from your phone (but not the target app, the trusted one you can still run) until you are able to deploy an app (usually, this means reduce to 9 homebrew apps).
Fourth, use a XAP deployer that supports updating, and do an update-install of the workaround app (upgrade, because it's using the GUID of the already-installed target).
Fifth, run the workaround app, and then re-install your normal apps.

I did as you instructed, however I still have the 10 sideload limit and am unable to deploy any interop services.By tango workaround app, you meant relockprevent, correct?

Like I said, I installed the Samsung LE2 update for the Focus S which is basically the KK2 equivalent, so provxml will no longer work.
Also, I do not have an apphub account.

Bump. Anyone have any ideas? A friend put a support ticket in with Samsung internal support to see if they can get the ROM.

Oh so it was that firmware update that just broke interop. Yeah I want to say at this point you are stuck. I doubt that Samsung will give the ROM since it isn't an issue that is preventing you from doing out of the box functionality.

isnt the provxml method using diagnostic tools the reason for this no longer working, what i mean by that is if you were to install the older version of the diag tool would that not restore functionality, or has the lock down of that gone much deeper? if you are able to install XAPs then find an older OEM update version pre KK2/LE2, open it up and rip out the diagnostic tool XAP, remove any previous installed version then send over the XAP....
just a thought, it might not work, but essentially i think thats what happens unless of course there are other dlls or drivers that the tool needs that have also been updated....
course it would be great to find someone willing and able to help crack the bootloader

Yeah I gave the suggestion to him in the Cab Sender thread to try and look on here for the Diag v 0109 or even 0210. That's the version that I have. Actually in the Cab Sender thread, I posted the cab file to the samsung firmware for Mango that should have that diagnostics version in the cab. You may be able to push that to your device

Ive been asking around and doing some research and as of today your stuck, sorry!
I did some poking around on DFTs website as well and there is absolutely ZERO work being done on it, mostly because it seems like the focus S is an AT&T only phone, there just isnt a pressing needed to do anything, plus most folk dont have a focus S to work with.
i dont know what it would take to get some help or even guidance on getting the bootloader replaced but at the moment, until another method is found, thats all there is.
Tho This might be interesting to look in to but DONT DO IT!
did i read somewhere else you dont have a preupdated backup or was it that the backup didnt work?

There is a lot of changes in those updates, if we could insert our own certificate to allow us to build our own signed cabs we could probably work it out, but alas we can only add a cert in to a custom ROM then flash it...

Yes, unfortunately I bought the phone from a guy here on XDA in May, never had to update it (had been cab updated to 8107 before I got it), never made a backup before installing tango (it's a small update, what could it possibly **** up, right?) Anyway the Focus S was announced yesterday as being available online at some Australian website so maybe there will be ROMs available in the future. I still haven't heard back from internal Samsung support, but have also asked the user I purchased the phone from if he has any backups, which I would restore from and immediately reset again to ensure his privacy.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind losing interop-unlock until 7.8 comes around, or WP8 (whichever I can afford first), but MMS also can't be configured using the Wireless Manager anymore, and that's an absolutely vital feature for me. Although, the WM has been known to not work for a lot of people, even pre-tango, but it worked flawlessly OOB for me prior to updating.

so you updated to the LE2 samsung update, was that via zune? (the last update it does in a row 3rd or 4th perhaps!) or did you cab send that as well?
if you went via zune then it does a backup as well, settings>update>restore

It was all done through the cab sender. There is no backup.

Just wanted to mention here... you know that CAB Sender is perfectly capable of making backups, right? It's one of the core operations the tool is capable of. Don't blame CAB Sender for you pressing S instead of B.
I just don't want people getting the impression that "through the cab sender" implies "there is no backup."

Restore your backup, do a little bit more reading on the subject of Tango with Interop Unlock, install the prevention app and mark it as trusted, and have at it. (Specifically, Tango will reset the "prevent relock" registry values, so you have to avoid the phone connecting to Microsoft until you have cleared them again).

[Q] Tethering and Video Calls on Samsung Focus Flash

So I live in Mexico and just bought a Focus Flash...
I tried to use it as a hotspot but I couldn't... My carrier supports tethering and it uses the same bands as at&t...
When I try to use the internet sharing options it shows a message saying that I have to call at&t...
Does anyone knows how to make this option work outside of the US?
Also, I have a similar problem when I try to use the samsung's video call app.
It shows a message saying my device isn't supported, is this also because I'm using it with a different carrier?
I hope someone can help, thanks! =)
If I can't find a solution for this, I'll probably start looking for roms from different countries to see if flashing it helps.

I don't know about the video call app. As for the other, however...
First of all, if you're using an AT&T ROM (which it sounds like you are) and you can find a way to flash an "International" ROM to it, I'd suggest you do that. AT&T puts a lot of restrictions on their phones that you, as a non-customer, have no reason to put up with (personally, I don't see any reason for their customers to put up with it either, but that's another issue).
Beyond that, if by some lucky chance your current firmware is compatible with WindowBreak, or at least you have a backup with old enough firmware, then yes, it is possible to strip out all of the limitations on the "Internet Sharing" feature. For one example, search the Dev&Hacking sub-forum for "Interop Unlock + Internet Sharing".
Beyond that... you'll either need to exchange your phone, find some other way around the problem (for example, you should be able to use wired tethering; it's unofficial but available for most if not all Windows phones if you know where to look), or wait until we find new hacks. Any of the following would work: a way to interop-unlock gen2 Samsung phones with current firmware (install WP7 Root Tools and use a provxml processing app), a way to flash a stock ROM to gen2 Samsungs (either replace your current ROM with an international one, or downgrade it to one that is compatible with WindowBreak), or a way to flash custom ROMs (which all come with this feature fully enabled).

Well... it was HAAARD D:
But I finally got to tango with tethering and it seems that I'll be able to get the last firmware update as well =D
So it is all good... I'm still using the at&t rom
I don't have video calls but I don't think I need them that much... If I want to have videochat I'll just use skype =)
