Running on a stock Skyrocket unrooted.
I'm looking for a way to set the lockscreen wallpaper to a live wallpaper. It appears that Samsung overlooked this when designing Touchwiz but does anyone know of a method for unrooted users?
no sorry, not on stock tw anyway. Go locker or widget locker may do it for u though. I recommend the latter
Hm, okay thanks. I'll try that out. The market still has the 15 minute refund period, right?
yup. On top of that most reputable apps will refund within a reasonable time if u contact dev
I'd never even thought about live wallpaper for the lockscreen.. Cool idea! I was trying to figure out how to do it with go locker, but... Any ideas?

Idk if it matters but i have an at&t note and am able to use live wallpapers on my lock screen. Its stock unrooted touchwiz.

ok so i know you can usually just use titanium backup to remove the respective lockscreen apk to get rid of the custom lock screen on android phones, that doesnt work on galaxy phones though. I HATEthe galaxy lockscreen. ive found some info on removing the samsung lockscreen from the captivate/vibrant/epic, but nothing on the 4G. Does anyone want to try to tackle it? Ive read somewhere that the same method wont work on the 4G.
There have been a few lockscreen threads but not just to remove the default lockscreen on the 4G.
thanks for looking
bump....anyone?
Its not that simple. You have to modify a lot of framework behaviors. I'm working on a mod but I'm stuck with one file and will probably contact hawkx to see if he can give me a hand.

thanks for the response, I know it isnt easy, I was wondering if anyone started tackling it yet. I found a flashable zip for the vibrant and epic, but we havent got to that point on the 4G yet. Hopefully someone can figure it out..im sure im not the only gs4g user who hates the lockscreen!

Probably because it's a system app. Try pushing the apk directly into system/app folder instead, and set correct permissions

No you wont, our devs will make handy work of that no problem. Look under settings, applications and make sure allow unknown sources is checked, especially if you freshly flashed a new rom. That's the only time TB has never restored for me

I guess you mean uninstall TB, & reinstall...? I've never done that before, because it's the pro version.. I would imagine that you don't have to pay for it again, but how does the Market (I have a hard time with saying Play Store... sounds like daycare), know that you've already bought it?
SuperSU was updated this morning.

The hard to say play store will remember that you paid for the pro version. Actually I think you have to install the free version first then install the pro key. I have four diff android devices, as soon as I pay for an app one one device it is available to all of my devices. Example root explorer, paid for on inspire 4g, available to all my current and future android devices.

Edit; just thought of one thing... If I uninstall TB, that saved backup in TB will almost certainly be gone with the wind... So I doubt that I'd be able to restore the app in question.. BUT, on the other hand.. If TB fails now, it might be best to uninstall & reinstall fresh...? Uhm. THAT IS the question...
Sent From my Two Tin Cans & String Device on The Wookie Network
You wont loose your current backups if you uninstall TB, they are saved on a file on your SD card, you can delete the TB apk and still keep your backups, if your worried make a copy of the backups you already have first or upload them to drop box.
Just think, what happens when you make a TB backup and then wipe everything in CWM and flash a rom that doesn't include TB in the app drawer, you just simply redownload the app from the market and hit restore .
If I have a backup on my SD, I don't even redownload the pro key from market, just the free version, but when I run the TB app it automatically say "pro version"

Just to recap, the following have been reported to work:
*Play Store
*Gmail
*Talk
*Contacts (but you lose the dialer; fix for this is to install exDialer from the market)
*Voice
Not working:
*MMS (FCs when you open a conversation thread)
*Google Plus (doesn't show up after you flash in CWM)
*Email (doesn't show up after you flash in CWM)
I personally am running Sky ICS 4.1 with v4.2a update and can't get google plus, non-gmail email, mms to work. It would be great if a dev could figure out how to get these to work
The play store theme works on stock gingerbread.. Tried the gmail..calendar & gtalk.. Nothing happened & native email, I had to recover with TB.
Don't know if anyone else on stock gingerbread, has any different experience?
Sent From my Two Tin Cans & String Device on The Wookie Network
Be forewarned... If you're running stock gingerbread & you flash the inverted play store.. You may find that you have problems with buying paid apps!
I'm getting the error "a problem occurred, please try again". Looks like I'll have to restore the stock market, in order to buy any apps.. The free apps are not affected.
Sent From my Two Tin Cans & String Device on The Wookie Network
Ok, I found a work around for buying the paid apps.. It's not exactly perfect, but it works.. I just used the Web version of play store.. Bought what I wanted.. Shows up in the Play Store app as Purchased..!

You could use Apex Launcher (or any other custom launcher) other than that those apps will act that way because the android memory management will shut them down after being in the background for a while.

First thing I did after signing in was switch to ART. If your going to do the same, I'd recommend you do it before downloading your apps. It has to optimize all apps on the device and I did it without downloading a single app. 324 apps. Took a while.

Not stupid at all bud. Unlock developer settings by going to "about phone" in settings, double tap "build number" 7 times until you see the toast msg that says "you are now a developer". Back out, go to the newly available " developer settings " and 3rd (4th if you count the first non selectable line) option which says "select runtime system" and change it to "ART". It will say Dalvik until you've changed it to ART. Choosing it will reboot your device and take a few minutes while sets up your apps for ART. It is possible that if could be incompatible with some apps but since it first released with 4.4, I haven't heard of this.
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I think this sped up the start up time of the camera, which is still kinda slow. I just hope I don't have issues with some apps as I've heard of others that had to completely reset their phone to stop some apps from crashing even after returning to Dalvik and reinstalling the app...

Yeah, not too bad. It looks as if they started to redesign it but only got as far as settings and quick settings lol. With Nova and Flatro icons, it looks as though it's how it was supposed to be done. One of things that was always first on my list after rooting or flashing was changing the appearance of the status bar/quick settings. I like them now so with Nova, I really like the appearance. IMO.
