Titanium hangs trying to restore factory test - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I tried restoring app & data, just app. But it just shows that it's trying... But makes no progress? I went into App Processing Mode & changed from Direct to Indirect.. Still no luck?
It's not making me very confident, that in the event I have to restore my phone... Will it work?
It's Titanium Pro..
Any ideas?
Thanks

Probably because it's a system app. Try pushing the apk directly into system/app folder instead, and set correct permissions

It's not even a required app for anything, why are you trying so hard? Just leave it, I usually remove it...

Not really trying that hard... But please correct me if I'm wrong, won't I need to have it installed to get the eventual ICS update?

No you wont, our devs will make handy work of that no problem. Look under settings, applications and make sure allow unknown sources is checked, especially if you freshly flashed a new rom. That's the only time TB has never restored for me

But, YEAH... I'm looking forward to the XDA Dev magic... It'll be way better than the mangled version of ICS that Samsung EVENTUALLY gets to us anyway..

I guess you mean uninstall TB, & reinstall...? I've never done that before, because it's the pro version.. I would imagine that you don't have to pay for it again, but how does the Market (I have a hard time with saying Play Store... sounds like daycare), know that you've already bought it?
SuperSU was updated this morning.

The hard to say play store will remember that you paid for the pro version. Actually I think you have to install the free version first then install the pro key. I have four diff android devices, as soon as I pay for an app one one device it is available to all of my devices. Example root explorer, paid for on inspire 4g, available to all my current and future android devices.

Edit; just thought of one thing... If I uninstall TB, that saved backup in TB will almost certainly be gone with the wind... So I doubt that I'd be able to restore the app in question.. BUT, on the other hand.. If TB fails now, it might be best to uninstall & reinstall fresh...? Uhm. THAT IS the question...
Sent From my Two Tin Cans & String Device on The Wookie Network

You wont loose your current backups if you uninstall TB, they are saved on a file on your SD card, you can delete the TB apk and still keep your backups, if your worried make a copy of the backups you already have first or upload them to drop box.
Just think, what happens when you make a TB backup and then wipe everything in CWM and flash a rom that doesn't include TB in the app drawer, you just simply redownload the app from the market and hit restore .
If I have a backup on my SD, I don't even redownload the pro key from market, just the free version, but when I run the TB app it automatically say "pro version"

I think you can get titanium back up and it save everything data and apps then you can reinstall everything. It has to be the paid app the free only supports one app. I could be wrong but someone else can confirm what im saying.

It only applies if there are framework mods or if the base firmware version is different. System app data is usually incompatible and in some cases user app data will cause issues.

TiBu supports all apps backup, both paid and free.
Paid one does additional tasks like batch restore without prompting for each app and data.

Well your JUST TRYING out a Rom, why even set your phone all the way back up......just load up the essentials and go at it, how fast is the email, how good is the network, browser speed, sound, bugs or whatever....then move on to the next Rom.
i guess some would see that as a lot of work, but if your not willing to do it.....then you will never really see what good and bad with the Rom.
Make Nandroids and Flash away. at the current moment i can swap between, Miui, Cm7, Infused 2.2.3, and even Hellraiser combos in a matter of minutes WITH ALL MY APPS AND DATA by just grabing my nandroid and flashing ( Of course you will want to know that you cant just go flashing any nandroin on top of another nandroids all willy nilly....so make your sure your current Kernel matches up with the nandroid you plan on restoring.

This app messed up my phone

My Droid Charge/Verizon also had data connection nuked by "easy battery saver" app. There are quite a few postings on various forums of other unfortunates, mostly Droid Charge, but a few LG.
My phone isn't rooted and I don't know how to flash the modem.
Is there anything simpler that can be done? I would prefer not to have to factory reset as the backup apps don't save app settings etc. on non-rooted phones.
Help anyone?

A factory reset brought my data back, so i took the opportunity to install tweakstock. I guess it was a plus in the end.
I think we should all report the app for causing such damage to the phone with no warning whatsoever and no solution. It must suck to have to reset a stock phone.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Expecting that I need to do a factory I bought MyBackup Pro and did a full backup but it seems that without root access the app settings are not saved. Since I didn't relish having to do rooting or factory reset I thought I would give the app developers a chance to do the right thing.
The response has been a series of generic emails pointing me at a new version of the app that do not fix my problem. I am guessing that it simply copies the (dysfunctional) APN it finds on first launch then its reset function simply writes this still dysfunctional setting back. Can't they just provide a simple appto write the correct Verizon APN?
I am not generally a ranting type but it is frustrating that there is no further recourse than just to advertise the serious bug and poor response to this forum. I posted a query also on Charge Forums, is there another good place to post a warning? Or am I just wasting my time?
Oh, and naturally my iPhone friends say "I told you so" just to rub salt in the wound!

I would have preferred it if they outright blacklisted the charge from downloading the app, as well as any phone it also breaks.

Pretty sure its broken my data too, it keeps jumping on and off all day. Will check with my operator that there aren't issues in my area but it was fine over the weekend.
Dug this up from a different forum. Works for sure.
1) Install app called "any cut" on wifi, it allows you to create any shortcut.
2) In the app go to new shortcut > activities> APNs
3) Create shortcut to access APNs (I guess default APN manager) and restore settings. Voila!

TiBu backs up my data perfectly fine for all my games (i.e. saved checkpoints, progress, local high scores). Are you sure you're restoring everything properly? I'm not talking down I'm just saying from time to time I don't restore app+data. Every now and then too I need to restore data only after a restore because the data doesn't stick..what games are trying to restore?

hahaha, its all good man! no worries, it is a weird abbreviation. I'm not near my phone (foolishly left it at home) so when I get back to my 2nd love I'll mess around with TiBu and see if there are any settings or something I do specifically that you might not..in the meantime I'll bump this up and see if anyone else who plays that game can shed some insight.

cool story? tell it again? You don't like to read the thread do you? lolol, OP is having a terrible time with TiBu, I agree though TiBu is the best way to go.
I tried to mess around with other back up apps and nothing seemed to be as user friendly and efficient as TiBu...I got a feeling its got more to do with the game then it does TiBu..sorry mate! Hopefully someone who plays the game can help ya out here!
I happened to have an issue with Titanium also. Was bothered that it did not restore apps to the sd card that were backed up from the sd card. It was brought to my attention that there was a setting in the preferences to do so. I also noticed many other new settings that were not there on a previous release when I looked last. There are a few about backing up app cache and external data that is not checked by default. Take a look in the preferences and there might be a setting to get your games fully backed up.
I'd hate to revive an old thread, but I'm having small problems with TiBu... It restores all save data, except for the online ID.
Do you have the newest version of TB?
I'd recommend you try restoring the app and then the data separately. That seems to work for me if the usual doesn't quite do the trick

if you backup system data from one rom and restore to another, when you reboot you will get nothing but force closes. you will have to reflash your rom to fix it.
if you are flashing the same version of the rom and just want all your stuff the same, it shouldnt affect anything

USER data is perfectly safe to backup. i get sick of so many people spreading untruths around about TiBu (i have seen tons)....backing up and restoring USER DATA AND APPS is perfectly fine. I have been using Titanium Backup for over a year and a half and have had more mobile devices in that timeframe than most have ever had in their lives, and every one of them i was able to use Titanium Backup to restore apps+data from OTHER devices to each other. hell, i share the same TiBu folder between my gs2, incredible s, and my vivid right now. then i have a modified version of the same folder for my galaxy tab (removed all phone-related apps)

I've migrated app backups through 3 different android phones, no problems. As for system data, bad idea. Entering your email address is far easier than reflashing a rom because of fc's

[Q] Titanium Backup freezing Force Close?

TB is freezing on me.. The only update before I noticed was Lookout security. I Uninstalled TB twice & reinstalled... I deleted TB backup with esExplorer. I can make 3-4 selections before it freezes.. I deleted the market, because someone had posted to clear the market cache & that fixed the problem for them.. I was able to restore the market with TB, so it does work.. to a point.

Because its just reinstalling the same updated one that's crashing on you. You need an earlier version, apparently. An earlier version that worked for you before the update.

You're awake pretty early!
I'd agree 100%, except for one thing.... TB had been working without any problems after the previous update.. That is, up until a couple of days ago & the problem persists after the most recent update... yesterday I think it was.
What I've done now, was Uninstalled TB & TB license as someone else suggested, and REINSTALLED both... Rebooting between each change (my Windows training), along with the deleting of the market cache etc. The next thing I'll do is uninstall Lookout security, since that's when... As far as I can see, the problem with TB started.
