I bought a HTC radar recently. I have notice that the live tiles are not updating. Do your Live Tiles work all the time? If not how did you solve it?
I have read some of the treads on xda on this and there doesn't seam to be solution to this unless do registry hack but you need your phone unlocked. I have disabled and re enable background tasks and unpinned and re-pinned tiles and doesn't solve the problem.
I read on one tread that this is a bug that was suppose to be solve awhile back and its not. Is there thing that can be done? Will I have to factory hard reset the phone?
Thanks in advanced

Mine update fine, but they do stop after a while just before the lock screen is about to come on but that's normal; now them not updating is not normal at all. what OS version are you on?

Hum? was it running fine before the update to 8107
Make sure the apps with the live tiles are enabled in the background tasks settings (Settings>applications>background tasks). If they are listed but not enabled enable them. If they are not listed open the app and go into its settings and see if there is an enable for live tiles.
Mine are all working fine and I am on 8107.

Hmmm, a simple question; have you tried just turning your phone off and back on?
Solved Hopefully
Thanks for all your help
I uninstalled all 3rd party apps and reinstalled them and the live tiles have been updated throughout the day. So hopefully problem solved.
All 3rd party live tiles have stop working again.
I'm I missing something because I am baffled by this.

Every time it stops working can you check two things?
1) Your battery saver hasn't turned on
2) if you are on 2g/3g connection

Battery saver is OFF
3g/wifi ON and working
I factory reset the phone now and going try and find out if its one of the apps that I have recently downloaded that's causing the problem.
I am open to any solution on this.

Before you do that - if none of the apps are absolutely essential - could you just use your phone for one day with whatever stock condition it resets into?
The live tile to follow is - ME tile.
See if ME tile keeps updating notifications. If it does we can at least rule out the OS or Live ID associated errors for time being.
---------- Post added at 09:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:20 PM ----------
Oh sorry, forgot. If you ME tile doesn't go live and doesn't stay live for next 24 hours, do this:
Go to region and language.
Change from your current to some other language (ideally something you might understand partially).
Restart (there will be link on top of language list as soon as you change it).
Then go back, change your language back to the one you prefer and then restart.
If any of the updates was an issue - then when you phone restarts, you will find your date and time might have changed. Reset them and your live services (if an issue) will be resolved.
Try the above only if your ME tile won't update. Else it's not necessary at all.

I don't know if this makes a difference but I never had a problem with the stock live tiles ie phone, messages, email etc. They always update even when all the 3rd party live tiles have stopped updating.
Should I still do what you said above.
Stupid Question: What does the ME tile do? haven't really used it.

Ah, if it's just third party and surely your OS isn't at fault here. The option I mentioned above only solves the language off-set caused by OEM update or OS update. It's not a very common issue, but generally associated with your LiveID services. Since you mentioned that your stock live tiles are all OK, I doubt if it's got anything to do with your LiveID.
I would say it's probably the way 3rd party apps work then. Am I right to assume that the 3rd party apps that don't work or stops updating are all of the apps that need some sort of internet connection?
I am inclined to believe that any 3rd party app that won't need internet to update it's live tile, will work fine with your phone.
ME tile is sort of a notification hub plus a short cut. It is a short cut to check in, upload pic to social networks or even status message to social networks. It also brings you the notifications from other social networks. i.e. if you get mentioned on twitter, it flips to say so. If you get FB notification (other than poke, event invite, private msg) you get tile flipping saying you've got a like/comment/wall post. ME tile is the tile that has helped #smokedbywindowsphone win so many challenges as you can upload pics/status to multiple social networks in no time!

BTW: Just saw your other thread where your Radar din't do the firmware update. Did it eventually go ok? Was this live tile issue before the update or after?
What 3rd party apps do you have pinned that have stopped updating?

Yes your right but there has been no problem with the internet (as the app updates when I go into the app) and the 3rd party live tiles update no problems for 8 to 9 days and then they stop updating.

Sometimes I don't get notifications at WhatsApp. I need to open the app again, and I get all the missed notifications. I don't find the old option "Protected Apps"..
Same problem here. Notifications sometimes stop working for Hangouts, Viber and WhatsApp.
Priority notifications are set to on, apps are whitelisted and excluded from battery optimalization. It seems that Huawei kills these apps anyway. Anyone found soulution?
Same issue. It's probably a software bug but I don't understand why are there some user that don't face this problem.
1. Go to multi-task to lock the app
2. Go to "App info > Notifications", switch on "Allow notifications" and "Priority display"
then I hv no more msg delay happen anymore
Still having the delays after all the steps taken. See attached. Set to ignore optimisation as well.
Kindly let me know anything that I might have miss out.
Had the same issue, reinstallation of Whatsapp fixed it for me.
Firmware B126.
Go to settings, battery.
Right under power savings from app choose 'close apps after screenlock' use the slider for whatsapp to don't close.

Uninstall and rebooted the phone. Reinstalling whatsapp after rebooting seems to have fixed the issue for now. Thanks !
Ignore Battery Optimization
It's the battery optimization code in the new software of Huawei.
Go to settings, search for "ignore battery optimization", show all apps, and turn the setting on for Whatsapp (or any other application of whom you need to see the notifications instantly). That's the only way to fix it..
Power intensive prompt and notification priority will not fix it.

In Chinese version nothing of this is working if you close apps from recent list (multitasking list) so you have to lock them there

It's exactly the same thing.... Go to apps-press settings icon-special settings (or something like that) battery Optimization....
It's just the same thing... I have allowed Facebook messenger viber Instagram whatsup Twitter and with all other settings me and everyone else with Chinese version can't take real time notifications except if we keep this apps running in recent apps list....
In this case I am wrong. But this solve my problems with notification settings.
I think ?

True, only way is to lock it in recent menu.
On international firmwares there is no problems with notification.
Yesterday i rebranded my international phone to Chinese firmware and the notifications stopped working.
Ok, I am noob with Android, my apps was blocked in battery optimization and that was the solution.
There are several threads on notification problems - one is about 17 pages the last time I looked. Following the instructions there fix it for some but not all. The update that's coming soon (UK today?) will maybe do the trick...

Build B138 is out in UK today... can't get to it until I get home though. Any improvement for anybody?
What's supposed to be in the update anyway?
I have this bug on Mate 9 PD, if i save an "ALL-DAY" event on calendar and i set a notification reminder for 9 AM, i receive the notification 9 hours later (6 PM), on the other phones i receive the notification at the 9 AM, i made other test, if i set reminder at 7.00 AM i receive on Huawei at 4 PM but in the other phones (op3t or iPhone 7) i receive at right time (7.00 AM).
For the other events (not all-day) i receive the notification reminder correctly everywhere.
Do you have any solution?
i have Mate 9 PD with B138
I get the same - can't find any other reference to this issue, also using mate 9. Made sure all settings are set to the correct timezone, force quit the app and rebooted, etc.
Other android tablet sync'd to the same calendar, works fine.

This is a known issue - there's a work-around here: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/apps/1VoEy7uILag
Basically, remove all permissions for the OEM calendar app, then install another calendar app (like Google's). If you use another calendar app without disabling the OEM app, the problem won't be solved

Just did this again, did a phone restart and the permissions I removed have been set back.
Guess this is why it didn't work last time for me. I've removed the permissions again but of course I need to bear in mind I'll have to do this again whenever I restart the phone.

Hey these are just a few things that i have found that are not completely broken but annoying enough to talk about.
First one is on some apps I am getting double notifications. Not that there are 2 of the same notifications in the tray but i get 2 sound alerts and too vibrate alerts. Not every app is doing this though which leads me to believe it may be an app optimization issue. This also get translated to android wear btw.
Second is voice dictation in the Stock google keyboard. Sometimes it will fail and other times it will be fine. random issue so no really way to lock down the cause.
Third is camera sluggishness all around. Double tapping the power button is slower than it has been and in the app changing modes or viewing pictures is also a slight issue.
Anyone else have these issues?

Have you tried 1) deleting cache, 2) toggling notification on/off in app, 3) clearing app data, and/or 4) uninstalling/reinstalling app? I would try these things in the stated order and observe the app behavior each time. Let us know how things turn out. Thanks.

I'm seeing the same on my Px and Px XL. Twitter and Slack. Clearly, the issue is app-specific. I tried all of the above but no joy. I have noticed that if the phone is not asleep, then there is no double sound. This may support your theory of app optimization. I will next try uninstalling/reinstalling the app to see if it makes a difference.
Hmm I may check this myself about the sleep issue

I am having the same double notification issues as well. Same apps, Twitter particularly. I also used the OTA directly from the August 7.1.2. In addition my battery drain has been ridiculous today. I attempted to clear cache for all apps only to find that Google has removed that control from both the OS settings as well as via stock Recovery. That's right, you can no longer format the /cache partition. I wish they'd at least moved it into Developer options instead of removing it entirely.
I've manually cleared Google Play services data and cache for several apps showing high battery usage in the new battery settings. I've also limited background usage for apps like Facebook, Snapchat, etc.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled Twitter with the hope that the app will register under O [perhaps properly] and resolve the issue. No joy. I would seem that the app devs for Twitter, Slack, Tapatalk, etc. will need to fix the code to work under O. I recently saw another app updated with "Fixed Android O notifications" in the change log.
Relatedly, I have a custom ringtone set with Twitter, but the double tone I hear is the phone's default tone. I have not been able to get the custom-selected tone to play. Something else for Twitter to fix.

For the double notification sound, my workaround is to use Lightflow. I already had it for other purposes, so I set the native app [e.g., Twitter] for no sound and set LF to make the sound. All is good.

I meant is the battery indicator reporting it wrong. I was being facetious but I have not noticed any unusual battery drain. On N when I used Strava and gps for 3 hours or so I'd end up with about 55% left and then plug in for a quick charge. On O I wound up with 67% left which was pretty good. After a few days I think there are some things that are better but overall about the same as N.
I've had it today where the screen on time in the battery stats is stuck. So it's been reading 1hr 15min screen on time regardless of how much I use it... Something is a bit off with battery reporting it seems
Regarding the double sound, this is what I have discovered:
1) Go to Twitter app and set the notification for no sound
2) Go to settings/apps/Twitter, select notifications. You will see a bunch of granular notification settings. Once I made the desired setting there, no more double sounds and the tone is what I desired.

If you do not mind sharing, how you restore all your apps data and phone settings in 10-15 mins?
I have had several issues with the final O release. I updated OTA straight from beta and even factory reset without restoring data and apps.
Definitely having the Gboard microphone issue.
Was also having a lot of wifi connectivity issues. The phone would randomly not connect to several wifi networks and started dropping wifi once connected alot.
Battery life is also atrocious especially when navigating. I used maps for 20 minutes with the screen off and had nearly a 20% drain.
I contacted project fi and received a replacement device which I'm going to keep at 7.1.2 for the time being.
Incidentally the beta worked perfectly nearly for months. All this started after the final OTA to the production release.
Hi,
Push Notifications work if I'm actively using the phone, but if I turn the screen off for more than 5 or 10 minutes notifications for all apps permanently stop. If I turn WiFi off and on again, the notifications come. I haven't popped a Sim card in their yet so maybe that would help?
Anyone have thoughts on why notifications eventually stop? I'm nearly 100% certain I have every battery and app setting to notify setup properly. I'm almost ready to give up.
Thank you in advance for your help.
As a side note, I have Google play services installed.
I don't have notication issue but I saw someone does. Maybe reset the phone ?

If I reset I'll lose Google play services and have to figure out how to put it back on.
Right now I get all notifications the issue is not getting them if I turn the screen off regardless if always on display is on. I'll try to send what happens if I just use cell service not both, but that's not really a solution. Also, notifications work with the screen off for about 10 minutes. Any longer and notifications stop. I guess it goes to sleep and is being super restrictive.
If you reset your phone, you can put GM's back on. Just download the package and instructions.
I think your notification problems may be in your permission app settings may be. I had outlook notification problems and fixed it by checking app permission. Android 10 has very strict notification settings.

If I go to app permissions I see view all permissions. Then I see a long list of some permissions you can click on and it explains what it is, but there's no toggle on or off. I get notifications just not with the screen turned off for more than 10 minutes.
I think I may be getting closer to narrowing down the issue. It doesn't appear to be happening if WiFi is turned off. I believe I read someone else on the this board was having the same issue with WiFi turned on or it could have been another Huawei phone.

Okay nevermind, I'm still having the problem without WiFi on also.
I've solved the issue. It turns out there are batter optimization settings you have to click on not allowed and push notifications will work. Thanks to all who helped.

Go to settings, click on search and type in battery optimization, then click all apps, then click don't allow for each app you want notifications from. This solved my problem. I hope it solves yours.

Isn't that a bug in the platform? They can't seriously expect users to do this for all apps that they want notifications from? It's ridiculous.

Disable PowerGenie for Notification
Someone might post a precise guide, to disable, via ADB, PowerGenie, so all applications do not go sleepmode and notifications all arrive correctly. Thank you...
Hi,
I have owned Find X2 Pro for about 3 weeks now. I have noticed that my notification is not appearing when the phone is locked. It only shows up when I unlocked my phone.
I know Oneplus also has this issue but can be fixed by disable battery optimization.
Is there any thing I should disable or enable in order to alert me when my phone is locked.?
Have you tried going in to Privacy<Lock Screen and then selecting show notifications

Hi mate. Did you sort this out? I have the exact same issue. As soon as screen is locked, no notifications. If I knew this I would not have bought the phone. Thanks for any help you may give.

I was disappointed to discover there is no notification LED on this phone, so wanted to find a way to overcome that. I'm not sure it's exactly the same issue you've found, but maybe the solution is the same?
There are several ways to replicate the missing notification indicator, but the one I've been using since I got the Oppo is NotifyBuddy. Although there is a free version (link below), I quickly paid a small amount of money to unlock all its features. This means that notifications appear on my lock screen in the form of app icons - you can select the size, colour and which ones you want to show from a list of all your installed apps. I've set mine to blink on and off at one second intervals and for NotifyBuddy to not show any notifications when the phone is in Do Not Disturb mode. A double-tap brings up the lock-screen fingerprint sensor, so it's easy to open the phone without even picking it up.
This is my preferred set-up, but the program is very flexible. It does consume some battery power because I've set it to run in the background (which seems pretty essential to me) but the extra drain is very small.
You can get it from the Play Store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xander.android.notifybuddy&hl=en
Thank you John for your reply,
I do not think this will solve my issue nor the original posters issue. When the phone blinks out and goes into its hibernation state/lock screen state and has been idle for quite some time, no notifications come through until the phone has been picked up or woken up then all the notifications flood in. I have tried all sorts of things to get the notifications to work when the phone is in this state but it just does not work. However, if the always on display is on, all notifications work perfectly as the phone is not in that hibernation/resting state. I am not sure this app would help until this aspect is resolved, unless in your experience it has fixed the issue?
Thank you for your reply.

I don't know if this will solve your issue, but, have you tried to turn the "sleep stand by optimization" off?

When the phone was in hibernation, I wasn't getting any notifications through either. The app I suggested solved this. Now I get notifications immediately, whatever the phone's state.

Hi John,
That is good to know. I am currently trying Tobias14's suggestion, if this does not work I will most definitely try yours. Thanks again.

Also whilst I am thinking about this, supposedly lock screen magazine can impact notifications if it is turned off so I have enabled this too.
Cheers.
I thought I'd add a photo of my Oppo Find X2 Pro showing how notifications appear on my lock-screen whilst the phone is locked. This is thanks to the NotifyBuddy app which I've discussed earlier in this thread.
Sadly, I seem unable to embed the photo, so here's a link to it:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/john_gass/50301729781/in/dateposted-public/
It shows three simultaneous notifications... Twitter, WhatsApp and TypeApp (which is my preferred email app). The strange position of the icons is because I set up NotifyBuddy's ability to move the icons around to avoid any possibility of OLED screen burn-in.
And finally, I have no connection with this app except that I've been really pleased with it and feel it deserves a bit of promotion!

I am facing the same issue on my oppo reno 8, in my case sleep standby optimization is turned on, because of which I am not getting notifications on lock screen. Make sure you turn off sleep standby optimization. Settings>>Battery>>Advanced settings>>sleep standby optimization.
