There are many custom roms available in the development thread.
And deodexing; it is simple.. The .apk are stored in our device with a .odex file too and it cant be modified.
But after deodexing!! You can apply themes, and other stuff mod. Is possiple.
To deodex use .zip files by ganeshbiyer in the development thread!!

First thing is it should be compatible with ur firmware!!
If yes then flash it using CWM as flash zip from sd card..
To revert back you should make a backup using CWM!

Miui is not rom specific!!!
You can flash XXKPQ then flash MIUI!.
Its not like you can only install it on 1 rom, it itself is a rom which when flashed removes old rom.
Ypu can flash MIUI if you want...
yes i am a layman

I mean to say that you can have MIUI in ur i9003!!!!
Just think of MIUI as another firmware(we call it rom)
You can flash it in CWM
Just download MIUI put it in ur external sd go to CWM flash it as a zip and you are done...
No need to flash xxkpq or anything else
And pls do read that at the moment some things do not work in MIUI(you can read it in the first post of MIUI) so do not ask about them as those queries will not be entertained

Your post title is misleading Edit the post title to DDKP3 which is the latest,
the pda version determines the gingerbread version which is ddkp3 only there is no ddkp4 pda as of now.
Your post when googled will show wrong info thus misleading 1000s of people who will keep on searching for DDKP4.
here is the thread for ddkp3

Just make a backup using CWM.(recommended)
And if you need apps to be restored then make backup using titanium backup.
And then you r ready to go!
Just factory reset,wipe catche,dalvik catche,battery stats.
Then go to recovery and flash as install zip from sd card.
No need to flash vurrut kernel as it is included in v8.5!!!
enjoy!
YEAH !!!!

U need to flash the kernel you made the backup with and restore from there. Or just do a clean flash. No, no update.zip. Before I play around with my phone I do a lot of research beforehand. You should too.

hallo... guys ... i started creating my first rom... jus with simple tweaks in system ui and build.prop.. now i wanna pre-root the custom rom which i created.. jus like all the other roms like cyanogen, joyos etc, i wanna flash it as pre-root.. can anyone help me how to do it?? im using dsixda kitchen .. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks a ton in advance guys
in the kitchen menu there is an option to add root permission
Press the thanks button if I could be of some help to you
It's better that you manually add files from the root zip file.
Edward Cullen
First off thanks for the spontaneous reply and help guys
@soham.. i tried that but not working.. it managed to install the superuser.apk but failed to get the root access
@Avilove: bro can u teach me how to do that manually??or can u send me a tutorial link on how to pre-root my custom rom ?
well... one more thing guys... forgot to mention.. im jus tryin to create a custom rom based on stock rom gingerbread 2.3.6... jus deodexing and themeing.. so will i be able to root that?? or is it necessary to have a rooted kernel before we actually root the firmware?? sorry for my noob question guys i aint got no idea about this but im interested in doin and creating roms.. jus in the process of learning
Hi.
I have got the StockROM and I rooted it with the update.zip-method. I think, Avilove.Cullen mean that you extract the update.zip and save the files in the right folder of your rom.

Install official rom on ur fit. Then root it and install cwm recovery on ur fit. Using recovery mod create a backup of ur stock rom. Backup will be a zip file. Transfer it to ur computer. Unzip and u will get a rooted stock rom where u can add ur tweaks for better look and performance. :screwy::screwy::banghead::thumbup:

I think that, the stock ROMs don't accept the flashable zips until they are rooted. I had the same problem. With the Stock Indian ROM I was not able to mount the system or cache. I was not able to install Beats audio in the Stock Indian ROM. Do let me know, If I'm wrong!
Switch to a custom ROM for the solution....
By the way, please tell me "Why are you using the Bold and colored fonts?"
