Im considering switching to the Go Launcher for some of the Go Widgets compared to the ADW Launcher EX. What are the differences between them?
I find it hard to believe nobody has used either of these.
Why not just install it and compare them yourself? GoLaucher is p good, but I've never used ADW.
go launchers good, sslauncher is better.......by far.
Ive used both and prefer ADW EX over Go Launcher. I found Go Launcher used more RAM and still felt slower. ADW EX is very fast, much faster than my stock Motoblur and it has nice customization features.
go launcher has always felt faster and smoother than adw for me
I use adw launcher ex on my arc and it runs really smooth

Go launcher all the way!

Sure, you have to try both to find out what is better for your device/rom.
For me go launcher has more features than adw launcher ex, but adw launcher ex is smoother when I open app drawer; so I prefer adw.
Actually I'm testing 360 launcher...
ADW.Launcher is my favorite. They fixed the annoying bug in the hidden dock.
Go Launcher, APEX Launcher and MIUI's launcher are good also.
In my opinion, go launcher, becouse it have task killer app

I've used both when in Gingerbread so as to find the best launcher experience. I found that I actually switched back and forth quite frequently.
1. Go launcher used to be my premier until the bug was fixed in ADW.
2. Go launcher also had Go Locker and a number of additional widgets.
Bottom line, both were excellent and both received some $ from my purchase of the EX version (ADW) or for the locker skins (Go Launcher + Go Locker).
As I'm now trying out CM9 alpha, I'm staying on Trebuchet for build tests.
I think you are finding it difficult to get a full brand a list of features versus brand b list of features becuase they so closely duplicate each other. The exception is the large number of widgets and locker skins for Go. At the same time, ADW has been around for some great theme development.
When I used benchmarking applications, I couldn't tell any difference in performance, so that won't be a factor.
My opinion
Pro Launcher or Stock(TW)
I installed Apex on my Samsung Skyrocket 4g to get the real launcher in ICS but my Phone Dialer is still the same... Any suggestions to change the dialer too?
I have used both on gingerbread and i'm trying adw on honeycomb now. I think i prefer go launcher though. It's more "blingy" for me. I actually might be installing it later tonight to see how it runs under honeycomb.

Go launcher
Go Launcher here. ADW always lagged more than Go Launcher on HTC legend + the widgets and customizability of Go Launcher seem better to me.
Its the matter of your device and ROM...for example im on stock 2.2 on ZTE BLADE and Go launcher lagging for me but ADW is amazingly fast. And i hate go launcher because of the big icons option...i want only big icons in dock not in drawer because it looks like corner for childs in the mall

Since the Google Reader app updated to have a 1x1 unread count widget, I've been looking for a launcher that'll let me put this directly into the dock. It seems like I've tried them all; ADW, LauncherPro, Go Launcher EX and I'm currently trying to install Zeam but my phone seems to be a bit stuck on the download stage.
The closest I've managed to get to this functionality is ADW, which at least let me drag a widget to the dock, but then told me I couldn't drop it there. Are there any launchers at all that support this? It seems like such a simple that nobody's thought to implement! I'm happy to pay for it if I need to (LauncherPro Plus, ADW EX etc) but I can't find any mention of it in these programs' descriptions.
Any info greatly appreciated, and if anyone knows why nothing seems to support this I'd like to hear that too!
Thanks all.
ADWEx lets you remove the dock, so I guess you could do it that way.
I need this too in ADW (EX). I want to be able to put Simi Folder widget in dock. LPP can do this, but I like ADW for other reasons. Unfortunatly I don't think LPP can add custom widgets to dock, Simi Folder just happens to be one that has support.

When putting in the dock, it goes in as a shortcut, not a widget. Same with Folder Organizer or Ultimate Faves Pro.
I've never seen a widget in a dock in any launcher. There must be some technical reason.

Probably because its kinda stupid? That's not meant in an offensive way.
If you made a launcher that can accept widgets, how would the dock know the difference between a counter widget to a 4x4 message widget? Logically, it'd do more trouble than good.

Will be great when authors let users delete Baidu's search widget and optimize RAM usage. Until then I'll be using QQ launcher which is similiar but has less features.

Unfortunately is laggy for my X10
The 360 launcher lags on your x10 device but does not lags on my x10 mini pro

And 360 doesn't have scrollable widgets.
if u could you might want to try and fix the brightness, if u change it using the built on widget or one built into your slide down status bar that only changes the launcher thing.
its nbd but only real flaw i see
this launcher is a keeper
Possibly one of the best launchers but i dont like the icons.
Using themes icons are small. and why it says APPS in appdrawer
Came across this a while ago. I like most of the features, but the app launch transition irritates me - despite having the ability to customise page transitions and app drawer transitions, there's no launch transition option, so it's not quite my cup of tea yet.
It's the launcher from a very nice rom. DX OS. Available for quite a few phones. Also have other apps on market from the rom. Search for Tapas Mobile.

Used DxHome for a few hours , 2 things i don't like about it , can't remove search widget from 1st screen & the home-screen transitions not very smooth (a bit laggy) on my SGS II i9100G !!
I appreciate the overall appearance of the home-screen & i also loved it's default icons !!
I used to have 3.0.4 and 3.0.9 versions on my samsung galaxy s i9000.
However 3.0.9 was the last version that ever worked well for me. Since this version all I get is very slow app drawer
So I picked up this tab last night, and I love how it handles running apps -it zooms. However the homescreen lags so terrible slow! switching between screens has a lag that is ridiculous for a new tablet. There has got o be a fix for this?
Take it back or use a different launcher....
good day.
Try this:
Settings > Developer options
User interface > Force Gpu rendering [check ]
Window animation scale [Animation off ]
Transition animation scale [ Animation off]
REBOOT.
See if it helps. For some reason ... apparently two processes SysScope and SystemUI keep randomly chugging up 40-60% CPU and this seems to effect the performance a lot. I am not sure if my suggestion would help you... but worth a shot.
So did his suggestions help?
Stone:
You might try a Factory Reset if the other suggestions don't do the trick. I know it can be a pain, but it seems to straighten out a lot of the problems on new Tab 2s.

Apex Launcher solved this issue for me
I'm at work, I'll try these suggestions tonight. A different launcher could easily help this, if not I'll def try a factory reset.
Thanks for the suggestions. i'll report back

I ran into TERRIBLE lag after I installed all my apps. It ran smooth before I installed apps, and lagged terribly afterward. A simple reboot did the trick. (Not a hard reset, just a reboot.) Have had no lag issues since then.
That said, Why? Oh WHY? do manufacturers feel the need for skins and custom apps? Give me stock ICS on good hardware and I'll be happy.
Here's to CM9 in due time...
Moved to Q&A section....place all questions in the proper sections.
Thanks

Nova launcher threw a fit on me a couple of times (See pic attached). Apex launcher seems a bit more stable.
Sent from my GT-P3113
If you put something like nova or apex launcher on it does it totally default to like a plain vanilla ics as opposed touchwiz?
Well, neither Nova nor Apex are pure-vanilla ICS...they just extend it in different (and I would say mostly better) ways than this tablet's version of TouchWiz.
Away OK. But using apex will get rid of lag on dual core tablets with ics correct?
Since 4.1 has started to make its way around now do you think it's worth keeping the sense launcher or do you still have a goto launcher that you prefer over sense?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
apex/nova are my favorites, never really liked sense.
With 4.1 Rosie and and 4x5 mod I'm very happy with sense.
Nova and apex can be smoother but i love the sense widgets
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I use Apex myself. The free version of Apex has more features than Nova in my experience. The two things missing from Apex compared to Rosie are (1) the amazing Sense widgets and (2) the easy way to add widgets to the home screen.
You probably should just try out the different launchers for a few days each and pick your favorite. It is very much a personal taste thing.
You can always shell out a couple of dollars for HD Widgets or Beautiful Widgets to replace the sense widgets.
Here is my main home screen from Apex, and for reference.

I love the smooth clean look of sense. I've ALWAYS had problems with 3rd party launchers so I tend to stay away from them
I have 2 docks so Apex is a must. Love the swipe gestures too. My desktop setup also requires to be able to overlap widgets.
Gotta admit the Sense Widgets are very pretty and somewhat useful.
Sent from my HTC One X
I use Nova Prime, which I have grown to love, but I miss the Sense widgets. Sense is actually a decent launcher. The only reason I'm still using Nova is because I used it on my Skyrocket and was able to keep my desktop backup. If I ever took the time to actually recreate my folders, I may switch to Sense.
nova
I like sense, but I feel a little too bounded or restricted or something. Just doesnt feel like it is as robust as it should be. no landscape, no scrollable dock, gestures or eyecandy customizations in sense, which is surprising cause it feels so choppy and laggy on 4.0.
I'm running CleanROM developer edition so I mainly only need sense for the camera and messaging features. I prefer a clean asop look so I can theme it to whatever I'm feeling at the moment. I really have no use for all the social widgets.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Do you use S8+ Samsung experience or different launcher? if you use different launcher, which one? and why?
Nova prime, because it is better in my view to the Samsung one because of the scale of options you have to customize the screen. Then there are all the icon packs to chose from.
Nova launcher here. Tried a couple different launchers, but always coming back to Nova.
Everything you can customize with Nova fits me good
I've been using Action Launcher, I like how the folder set up works on it and they recently added Google Now integration.
Nova Prime, because of customizability.
Nova, stock launcher is a joke.
Nova

I go back and forth between Nova and the Samsung launcher. Btw, I don't think the Samsung launcher is bad at all. The only thing I don't particularly like about it is the little notification tags and that the files are kind of ugly, but those are minor complaints.
Like most I paid for Nova Prime a long time ago, so I'll keep using it if a stock launcher isn't better. I like having a bunch of homescreens. I have 6 at the moment. So that's what brings me back. I am making use of the Edge drawer. Well, sort of. When I swipe left from the right edge, the edge drawer doesn't always open. If it doesn't, then on the next screen to the right, I have most of the same apps in folders. So if I want to open whatapp, it's in the edge panel and on the screen to the right of my homescreen. Either way, two clicks and I'm there.
I use Nova Prime almost exclusively. It's the Pixel launcher basically, but with a little more sexiness and a few decent features.
I use Launcher3 - which makes it look like the Pixel.
Go launcher z
Nova Prime is love, Nova Prime....
..is life..
Nova for ever
I use lawnchair for my default. basically just a pixel launcher with more features

Nova prime since day one! I've tried the touchwiz but find myself always reverting back to Nova
I use both Action Launcher & Nova Prime. Action launcher is better in terms of customization n colour combination. Nova Launcher has so many functionalities n I m lost in it many a times. For deep customization, yes nova is better.
Nova, for all the above reasons plus I use the gestures a lot. I also like some of the themes in the Samsung theme store but don't necessarily like the icons that go with them so with Nova I can change to an icon pack like S8 Aspire or even Pixel Nougat and have the theme and icons I want.
Anyone using action launcher? How do I enable the icon labels on app drawer?
