[Q] Any Launchers Support Widgets in the Dock? - Android Apps and Games

Since the Google Reader app updated to have a 1x1 unread count widget, I've been looking for a launcher that'll let me put this directly into the dock. It seems like I've tried them all; ADW, LauncherPro, Go Launcher EX and I'm currently trying to install Zeam but my phone seems to be a bit stuck on the download stage.
The closest I've managed to get to this functionality is ADW, which at least let me drag a widget to the dock, but then told me I couldn't drop it there. Are there any launchers at all that support this? It seems like such a simple that nobody's thought to implement! I'm happy to pay for it if I need to (LauncherPro Plus, ADW EX etc) but I can't find any mention of it in these programs' descriptions.
Any info greatly appreciated, and if anyone knows why nothing seems to support this I'd like to hear that too!
Thanks all.

ADWEx lets you remove the dock, so I guess you could do it that way.

I need this too in ADW (EX). I want to be able to put Simi Folder widget in dock. LPP can do this, but I like ADW for other reasons. Unfortunatly I don't think LPP can add custom widgets to dock, Simi Folder just happens to be one that has support.

When putting in the dock, it goes in as a shortcut, not a widget. Same with Folder Organizer or Ultimate Faves Pro.
I've never seen a widget in a dock in any launcher. There must be some technical reason.

Probably because its kinda stupid? That's not meant in an offensive way.
If you made a launcher that can accept widgets, how would the dock know the difference between a counter widget to a 4x4 message widget? Logically, it'd do more trouble than good.

Is anyone reading the whole thread? There IS a launcher that can do it. Dxtop

Thanks, I'll give dxTop a go.

[Apps] Genie Widget and Launcher2 from Nexus One

Here are 2 apps that I love on my Nexus that also work on the Evo. Just install with an app like Astro from the SD card.
Download the Genie Widget here
Download the Launcher2 here
Launcher2 is already built into the EVO at launch.
so what is the genie widget?
The Genie Widget is the News & Weather application/widget that's originally for the nexus one. I really like it.

Or search google and find out how to disable sense UI then when you hit home it asks you which you'd like to use. But I'll point out that if he is pulling Launcher 2 from CM then it may do the 5 wide plus it had some fixes.
I too like the genie widget but is there ANY way to configure the way the widget looks? I'd really just like to make the background solid black and all the text white. Is this possible? Or make the background transparent and the text black. Either would be great.
My evo didn't come with genie widget. It did come with that news/rss reader that is very similar though. But I like the weather in genie widget a lot more because you are really only one click away from radar and can actually see details about the forecast from within the app. The one that comes with the clock kind of sucks. Just tells the highs and lows but with the genie widget weather you can see what time its going to start raining and stuff like that.

Do you still have this. i have a version of Launcher2 but it's the cube app drawer type and the ADW looking home screen dock. I prefer the older style and i'm wondering if this is indeed what im looking for.
Thanks

[Q] Dockless Home Launcher

Is there any home screen launcher without a dock bar? I would like to have access to the entire screen and not have a dock. I know you can hide the dock on some but it still leaves an unusable space where the dock was.
I have tried :
Launcher Pro
ADW
SlideScreen (no dock but not my style)
SweeterHome
Any suggestions?

You could use Launcher Pro and have no background set for the dock - and then use transparent icons for the icons. That way, it would in a sense - be invisible.
SweeterHome can do what you want.
Why you don't want to use it?
ADW sure can do that, hide the status bar, hide the dock bar, all you need to try on its options.

ADW and LauncherPro both leave an unusable space even if you hide the dock.
I have got SweeterHome pretty close to how I want, just wish is supported scrollable widgets!
VLauncher?
If anyone was interested, this is how I have Sweeter Home set up.

I was going to say the same thing. With the latest ADW release you can completely disable the dock. I have the notification bar and dock hidden, set to five rows. The bottom row of icons/widgets go to the bottom of the screen.
Just checked out the new adw so now I am not sure which one I want to use.

[Q] ADW Themes on LauncherPro

Hi, I recently switched to LauncherPro from the ADW Launcher and would like to know if there is any way to convert ADW Themes to work in conjunction with LauncherPro. I have become accustomed to the Nexus S Gingerbread theme for ADW and would like to keep this theme but use it for LauncherPro. Is there any way to do this or any Gingerbread themes for LauncherPro that are of the same quality as the ADW Nexus S Gingerbread Theme?
hello did you found how ?

No it can't. It allows theming of the LauncherPro Plus widgets. There are themes available in the market.

Which version of LPP? And where in Settings do you apply the ADW themes?
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
LauncherPro Plus v0.8.6
you have an option "Theme Settings"
Is there any reason why I can't find the update in the market or any info on the LP site? Hmmph.
I don't really care about the themes as I've themed MIUI so my icons are already as I want them to be and I'm using a dock that goes with my setup. I'm just confused because the market is showing that I'm up to date.
EDIT: Google taught me that it's a beta, not a full release. I just recently came back to LPP from ADW and I've seen a lot of improvements since I last used LP months ago. I still miss the hidden dock from ADW Ex, though.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
confirmation on adw themes in lpp 0.8.6
I downloaded/installed "y0rk's Red ADW Theme" from the Android Market and selected "Preferences,Theme Settings,Icon Pack,y0rk's Red ADW Theme", which works for app drawer icons.
Brilliant.
But I could not apply these icons to the dock shortcuts, I assume because they are not in png format. I guess would need to extract them from y0rk's apk and convert from .ico to .png and put them in a directory on the sdcard.
Edit
No, they are all .pngs.
I don't think Android ecen uses .ico files anyway, does it?

5x7 Rosie - WARNING: No Widget Mods!

This is just a simple tweak to Myn's Sexier Rosie that gives a 5x7 workspace. I have NOT made the standard edits to the various HTC widgets, however - it is more intended to be used in conjunction with Desktop Visualizer and other similar widget programs. HTC Widgets will be truncated and overly small unless edited to fit the 5x7.
So if you like Launcher Pro or other similar launchers, but want the speed of Rosie and don't mind working without 5 launcher bar buttons, hereya go.
As a side note, if anyone has an idea on how to program 5 launcher bar buttons in to Rosie, please contact me, I'd love to chat.
-MDM
<edit: I should probably mention that the rosie graphic included here was designed by DG4FREE, and uses my Steel on Glass text icons.>
Sounds cool can't wait for widget mods.
I really want to try this; but how do I install it?
I tried mounting system as r/w through SUFBS, but no go.
Do I need to push it via adb or something?
Thanks!
UPDATE: I tried adb push to system/app ... but now I don't seem to have Rosie at all...

Hereya go. Again, this is Sense, not Sense 2. The widget in the bottom left is mClock 4x2, next to Circle Battery 1x1. The line is actually two 1x2 widgets with Desktop Visualizer and a custom graphic. The text icons are 2x1 with Desktop Vizualizer, and there are also two clear 1x1 DV widgets just above the clock.
I use the two line widgets for gmail and sms, and the two clear widgets for alarm and calendar.

Beautiful Widgets sure was a disappointment

So I finally bought Beautiful Widgets on my TF101. Tried out the widgets, saw that it was mostly clock and weather widgets, which is fine except that they aren't really any more beautiful or useful than the stock Asus clock and weather widgets. Decided to get the refund well within the 15-minute window.
It's probably better on a phone if you want a Sense-like experience, but on a tablet it was pretty underwhelming. IMPO (in my pointless opinion).

Yeah, I did know that. And that's actually a really nice layout you have there. Is that your tablet or a phone? Hard to tell since you're not using the stock launcher.
I guess it's a phone, look at the statusbar.
If you're interested in widgets, try wizz, I really liked that a lot for my Transformer.
It has awesome Facebook/Twitter/Calendar widgets, but is only really useful when bought.

BW is over hyped.
Tried both in my previous G2X and TF101, not impressed with the theme selection.

Oh man, I know. I was excited when I saw that BW was part of that sale, but then I remembered that the Android Market doesn't take PayPal. I didn't have a debit card at the time.
Maybe try HD Widgets I like them on my TF
