Enjoy!

yep, i tested it, it works well, but doesnt include some of our last commits... I asked arcee to rebuild it 3 times (to use the latest recovery).... ignored sigh...
Its not a big thing, but there was commits after the 15 march (like french fixes), and only some of the devices have it inside...

Remember its a "release" build, with a kernel included (179-4) ! don't flash that on Defy+ (and defy+ sbfs, Bootloader gen 6+)!
Quarx will release a build for Defy+, soon

wtf st..id cm links!! - thats ufo language

Update question
So how do we update.....Recovery and select this file like we did when we first swapped into 7.1???
So from my experience what do we do? Do a restore file first?......do we recover/install 7.2? then restore?
Never "updated" an aftermarket OS
Paul

Waiting for a kind dev to add defy+ support

Looks like the CM blog went down, *but* the download link is back up!
As with any change of ROM, just move the .zip file to your SD card, enter recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik cache, and install zip from SD card and reboot.
If you're updating from CM 7.1, you may not have to wipe data/factory reset... perhaps one of the devs can enlighten us?

whats difference bw cm 7.1 n 7.2 ??
will there b any major differences between theae 2 ?? ui or any kind...
m on wiui 1.10.28 i dis nt updated as this rom ia very good at battery...i used cm7.1 earlier but ever since i used this rom i love it

is there any additional options/ changes included here that is not present on the cm 7.2 nightlies by Quarx, Epsylon, Maniac or Euroskank?

can I use gb kernel? (2.6.32.9-g21f1a48) defy red lens
I had enough of the ICS, I'll came back when a full working rom is ready (anyway I want to thank everyones for the effords on ICS)

So can anybody confirm me how to "update" from 7.1 to 7.2?
If this is like the "old" WinMo days...if I RESTORE my backup...it may RESTORE system things too back to 7.1.....
Or will Google Sync services bring my device to par.

Just flash the zip via Stable Recovery. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache in case you get stuck and Reboot the device.
I use 7.2 nightly builds from here as they have the latest changes.

Tips & Tricks:
ttabbal said:
Just tips for G1 users, might help MT3G as well. I'm on SJ's latest, I'll try defconoi's when he uploads the fixed version.
JIT - It's helping me. You might not like it, but it's dead simple to turn on/off, so try it and see. You need to reboot for the setting to take effect. I'm not talking about MFLOPS or other benchmarks here, just totally subjective apps starting and running a little smother and faster. The browser really seems to get a kick out of it, but even without JIT, the froyo browser is much improved. RAM use does go up some with JIT, but according to the Google developers that wrote the thing, only about 10k per app. Larger apps will benefit more from it, and with most JITs, the longer the app runs, the faster it gets till it tops out. Not sure on the last bit for the Android JIT, but it would make sense as they work by profiling the app as it executes and optimizing the bytecode in the most executed code more aggressively. Note that the Froyo JIT is official, the one we were using for Donut and Eclair was not. The Froyo one is supposed to be much improved, and stable.
Swap - I have to turn it on manually right now, but it's worth it. My partition is 40MB and the system tends to top out using about 25MB of it. Helps keep things running. More is not better with swap, use sparingly if at all. Try it for a few hours or even a day before deciding, swap is notorious for starting out fast and slowing down over time. It's results depend a LOT on what apps you run and how you use your phone. So if it sucks for you, turn it off. It also seems to help a little with market FCs, but the market still crashes. Sounds like MT3G users don't have the market FCs, lucky bastards.
Compcache - The setting in "CyanogenMod Settings" doesn't work. I haven't tried to load it manually. It's never really worked well for me over time. It tends to bog down faster than swap for me. Others like it better than swap. Try it for yourself and make your own call. Again, let it run for at least a few hours before making a decision on it.
ADWLauncher - I turn off the animations and turn the delays and overshoot down as far as they will go. I also make the drawer background flat black with no transparency. Makes for a VERY fast launcher. I also set the "System persistent" option in "System Preferences". That seems to help keep Android from killing it off. Returning to home is damn near instant now.
System animations (Settings->Display->Animation) is set to "No Animations". Again, makes things faster and I get bored watching the redraws.
Just things that have helped me make Froyo a daily driver build on my G1. The current pace of this stuff is amazing. Great work from everyone involved. I haven't seen any reason to drop back to CM5. I do need to look into the BT phone audio thing though. If I can fix that, it would be near perfect.

Just finished flashing, will report back. Also, according to Cyanogen's twitter they were able to fix the camera for DS. Thanks for sharing.
EDIT: IMO, Cyanogen is probably a few days from releasing the DS Alpha version of CM6 if this is what's currently on github. Not a diss or anything, just saying this isn't something he'd be comfortable releasing.

you have a mt3g 1.2 right? if so you need to get pershoots cm based kernel for 32b. after flashing this rom you need to flash that kernel. it works for me. this also works for any dream based roms.

thank you alan
market on cm 6 rc1 did not work for me, so i'll try this one
thx a lot for your hard working , alan ! ^^
The rom is also suitable for this new radio?
Thanks alan
no as you can see - have not tested on the new radio yet - give me a couple days to try and get it working fine on new radio using WG kernel port and well see what happens!
alan , can u guide me to make a bootanimation.zip ?!
i can't connect my device with sdk & i don't like bios boot so much !
But i don't know how to make bootanimation which can install directly in recovery.
Sr for my bad English
thx a lot again , guy ^^
replace the bootanimation.zip
there is no bios boot animation with this rom
if u have problems with this rom
run :
fastboot erase system -w
in fastboot usb mode
this is due to the cm backup script backup and restore old gapps from an old rom
I have included them with the rom - so that will make sure to put the correct ones - will remove the update script in future version
Can't wait for the NR release Alan, thanks for the hard work.
Should I wipe if I'm coming from your 2.1 mod Alan ?
You mean to say that even the camera is working with 32A now?? This would make it worth to revert to the old SPL/Radio
would recomend you do a fastboot erase system -w and just restore whatever you need with titanium backup
yes the camera works fine - as does the voice search
a fastboot erase system -w
use it with sdk programe ?!
but when i use sdk , my phone can't do anything !
Hey guys, thank you for your hard and non stop work.
I can't find the download link?

yes use it with the sdk program and then after doing that in fastboot power off and boot into recovery and install the rom
otherwise the rom may backup the old Google Apps and cause some problems - I will fix this in next version - just an oversight that I did not remove the backup scripts in cyangen mod

It's the first time I've ever used a different ROM than the Stock 2.1 one and I am really satisfied with it. Very fast and stable.
I am waiting for further upgrades of Cronos ROM.
Worth updateing

For me works like a charm, GPS works, Camera too.

i am on cronos rom at the moment,
- treat it as a CM 6 lite
- font type has been changed
- default clock speed same as cm 6 (900mhz)
- ROM chef clearly took some ideas and thanked nadlabak (kabaldan), the maker of cm 6 milestone
- camera on this rom is exactly the same as cm 6 0.02 [29/09/10], buggy auto-focus and annoying.
- linpack scores around 12mflops, same as cm 6
- reboot time is 3-4 seconds faster than current cm 6 build
- 30 fps limit bug is still existent, no different to cm 6
- cronos boot animation not as funky as cm 6
- users might miss some cm 6 user options, for e.g custom led color blink for different alerts.
- stable with no random reboots (same as cm 6)
- uses launcher pro as default homescreen (as opposed to adw in cm6), making it easier for LP fans to set up on first install
- difficult installation process if no internet access, launcher pro app included has expired, needs to install the latest version on start up.
- battery life about the same as cm 6
- no idea if kernel tuning script has been included
installation instruction was not clear,
- cronos.zip contains update.zip and openrecovery folder
- replace these 2 files with the ones on sdcard
- also copy google apps for hdpi devices.zip to openrecovery/updates folder
- run recovery and wipe all (factory, cache and dalvik)
- choose update from zip and pick cronos 1.0.0
- immediately after installation, pick google apps
- reboot and set up phone as normal, make sure to connect to wifi first or use a SIM which has 3g data connection, then sign in to your main google account. (for wifi settings during setup, press the menu key when Google ask if you want to set up a new account or sign in an existing one)
- complete the first time android setup and launcherpro will fail to launch and direct you to launcherpro homepage. download the latest apk and install from notifications bar.
I dont know why author of this rom join nadlabak cm6 port? Coz many work of this rom took from nads research.
Or at least share some ideas of his work.
i dunno about other people.for me this rom feel much better than cm6.it much faster.i tried both n i'll stay with cronos.but it will be much better if the 2 developer can work together.peace no war.

Sorry but I have a pooor internet connection and I try to fix a bug : the device is re-running boot sequence when 3g get activated :/
nice man, maybe we can help u to fix the bugs. i could give u a mirror!
Thanks a lot !
My current (and only for now) problem is in frameworks, with NetUtils..
Is it flashable zip, or have we flash ROM through fastboot (cant you delete recovery image then, to avoid overwriting it ?)?

nice try!!, hope u have success!!!!
have u twitter or an irc channel?
so we can see how the development is going!

nice job guy!
There are two methods : fastboot (boot.img & system.img) without erasing recovery and flashing via recovery, but you lost your recovery.

I have actually little issues but the ROM is not really useable.. I'm gonna try to release a .zip as soon as possible
very nice.thanks !!!
python08 can you upload gralloc.qsd8k.so & copybit.qsd8k.so for bravo?

Hello dadroid. First of all, thank you for this ROM! I'm using it right now and it works very well. I wanted to ask if you are going to release a R2 version of this ROM, with the reported bugs fixed. Thanks again for all your work!

I tried this ROM recently and it has some bugs (I was using the Beta 2). The wifi doesn't work after rebooting. As soon as you turn it on, it goes off after a few seconds. Had to go back to the Beta 2.
