I have been using it for the last 4 days, and it is awesome..!
It's the first time I've ever used a different ROM than the Stock 2.1 one and I am really satisfied with it. Very fast and stable.
I am waiting for further upgrades of Cronos ROM.

Worth updateing
Here is a link to an offi site of the project:
http://www.cronosproject.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=376
Current version is 1.1.0

better than cm6 in terms of battery life, stability?
is GPS working normally? (it takes very long time to lock in cm6)

For me works like a charm, GPS works, Camera too.
Cheers

I am using alpha 0.02 CyanogenMod 6, how can I use this Rom? can I just put into the openrecovery and updates to replace the existing alpha 0.02? thanks!

Compared to what? A basic eclair modded rom? V3a is my daily driver , I'd love a change but not for an (understandably...no hate) buggy froyo.

i am on cronos rom at the moment,
- treat it as a CM 6 lite
- font type has been changed
- default clock speed same as cm 6 (900mhz)
- ROM chef clearly took some ideas and thanked nadlabak (kabaldan), the maker of cm 6 milestone
- camera on this rom is exactly the same as cm 6 0.02 [29/09/10], buggy auto-focus and annoying.
- linpack scores around 12mflops, same as cm 6
- reboot time is 3-4 seconds faster than current cm 6 build
- 30 fps limit bug is still existent, no different to cm 6
- cronos boot animation not as funky as cm 6
- users might miss some cm 6 user options, for e.g custom led color blink for different alerts.
- stable with no random reboots (same as cm 6)
- uses launcher pro as default homescreen (as opposed to adw in cm6), making it easier for LP fans to set up on first install
- difficult installation process if no internet access, launcher pro app included has expired, needs to install the latest version on start up.
- battery life about the same as cm 6
- no idea if kernel tuning script has been included
installation instruction was not clear,
- cronos.zip contains update.zip and openrecovery folder
- replace these 2 files with the ones on sdcard
- also copy google apps for hdpi devices.zip to openrecovery/updates folder
- run recovery and wipe all (factory, cache and dalvik)
- choose update from zip and pick cronos 1.0.0
- immediately after installation, pick google apps
- reboot and set up phone as normal, make sure to connect to wifi first or use a SIM which has 3g data connection, then sign in to your main google account. (for wifi settings during setup, press the menu key when Google ask if you want to set up a new account or sign in an existing one)
- complete the first time android setup and launcherpro will fail to launch and direct you to launcherpro homepage. download the latest apk and install from notifications bar.

I dont know why author of this rom join nadlabak cm6 port? Coz many work of this rom took from nads research.
Or at least share some ideas of his work.

i dunno about other people.for me this rom feel much better than cm6.it much faster.i tried both n i'll stay with cronos.but it will be much better if the 2 developer can work together.peace no war.

There is some new ground being broken here, and a few bugs to still shake out but I believe that it should be pretty stable as a daily driver. Please help us out with *quality* bug reports (including logs).
It's important to know that the "DangerSPL" (or DeathSPL or Haykuro's SPL or whatever you prefer) is a prerequisite for Dream/G1 users. Magic (MT3G etc) users do *not* need to do this. Ciwrl has written a guide to installing this bootloader. Flashing this bootloader under the wrong conditions can actually brick your device, so pay attention to the guide. CM releases have always avoided this requirement, but the new bootloader frees up enough space so that no crazy hacks are required for a fully functional system, and it's easier to keep in sync with the N1/Droid releases.
What's NOT included that you'd find on a Nexus One:
* Launcher2 (too clunky for these devices)
* Stock Live Wallpapers (LWP support is there, but may not work with all LWP apps and/or performance may be bad)
* Facebook (install from the Market, contact sync works perfect, at least on Sapphire)
* Google Voice (install from Market, push notify works perfect)
* Gallery3D (too much of a memory hog)
What's included:
* Everything that goes with Eclair
* 3D, video, camera, camcorder, BT, WiFi, etc are all of course working
CyanogenMod extras:
* Can be used with or without Google applications
* Kernel 2.6.34 with Pershoot's tweaks
* ADWLauncher is the default launcher!
* Complete music app overhaul by Eliot Stocker
* New Apps2SD method implemented mostly by Chris Soyars.
* Built in USB & Bluetooth tethering
* Graphical enhancements, #boobs, and excellent wallpapers by Prash and SatanR1
* Includes BusyBox, htop, nano, powertop, openvpn, bash, irssi, and all engineering commandline utilities
* FLAC audio support from Kenny Root
* Phone enhancements from Cytown
* Contacts enhancements from Wysie
* MMS enhancements from, well, everyone (see changelog)
* Perform zipalign-on-install of applications
* DeskClock tweaks- longer autosilence and "require unlock" option
* Massive APN list
* All available locales are included thanks to PsychoI3oy
* 360-degree auto-orientation by Optedoblivion and Elanthis (enable in settings)
* OpenVPN integration thanks to James Bottomley
* Music app can respond to long-press on the volume buttons (from Metalhead)
* Many other bugfixes and tweaks from AOSP contributors
* Tons of work on the build system by Koush and Chris Soyars
* Big thanks to Zinx for debugging some really difficult issues! He really deserves most of the credit for getting this thing working so well.
* See the full CHANGELOG for all credits and details

no new radio
old radio only - no .33 kernel for new radio so I really prefer having the best kernel out atm which is this one - will not downgrade for new radio
especially since all new radio kernel > .27 is propritary blob from sanpei

will be updating this ASAP when cyan updates his as well as when adw launcher is updated

Feel free to hack away, I dont take any credit for this other than compiling from http://github.com/cyanogen
I did this for me and me only, I wont be supporting this, this is the work of cyanogen, give him props, not me.
How it was compiled:
Install Dependencies within Ubuntu Lucid Lynx:
Code:
sudo aptitude install git-core gnupg sun-java6-jdk flex bison gperf libsdl-dev libesd0-dev libwxgtk2.6-dev build-essential zip curl libncurses5-dev zlib1g-dev
Install Repo:
Code:
curl [url]http://android.git.kernel.org/repo[/url] >~/bin/repo
ln -s ~/bin/repo /user/bin/repo
Get Cyanogen's Git:
Code:
mkdir ~/cm
cd ~/cm
repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b froyo
Sync Repo:
Code:
repo sync
Build:
Code:
source build/envsetup.sh
lunch cyanogen_dream_sapphire-userdebug
make clobber
make installclean
make clean
make -j4 (wait 30min-3hrs)
make -j4 otapackage (takes about 5-30min)
./vendor/cyanogen/tools/squisher (zipaligns, optimizes png's and the rom thnx to dumfuq)
Look in the out/target/product/ directory for the flashable update.zip
add proprietary libs and apps to the zip file after you extract it, rezip
make edits/tweaks
Then resign the zip with testsign.jar like this:
Code:
java -classpath testsign.jar testsign zip.zip signed.zip
Signed.zip is ready to flash
That is the gist of it, feel free to share any tweaks or mods in this thread.

Tips & Tricks:

Just tips for G1 users, might help MT3G as well. I'm on SJ's latest, I'll try defconoi's when he uploads the fixed version.
JIT - It's helping me. You might not like it, but it's dead simple to turn on/off, so try it and see. You need to reboot for the setting to take effect. I'm not talking about MFLOPS or other benchmarks here, just totally subjective apps starting and running a little smother and faster. The browser really seems to get a kick out of it, but even without JIT, the froyo browser is much improved. RAM use does go up some with JIT, but according to the Google developers that wrote the thing, only about 10k per app. Larger apps will benefit more from it, and with most JITs, the longer the app runs, the faster it gets till it tops out. Not sure on the last bit for the Android JIT, but it would make sense as they work by profiling the app as it executes and optimizing the bytecode in the most executed code more aggressively. Note that the Froyo JIT is official, the one we were using for Donut and Eclair was not. The Froyo one is supposed to be much improved, and stable.
Swap - I have to turn it on manually right now, but it's worth it. My partition is 40MB and the system tends to top out using about 25MB of it. Helps keep things running. More is not better with swap, use sparingly if at all. Try it for a few hours or even a day before deciding, swap is notorious for starting out fast and slowing down over time. It's results depend a LOT on what apps you run and how you use your phone. So if it sucks for you, turn it off. It also seems to help a little with market FCs, but the market still crashes. Sounds like MT3G users don't have the market FCs, lucky bastards.
Compcache - The setting in "CyanogenMod Settings" doesn't work. I haven't tried to load it manually. It's never really worked well for me over time. It tends to bog down faster than swap for me. Others like it better than swap. Try it for yourself and make your own call. Again, let it run for at least a few hours before making a decision on it.
ADWLauncher - I turn off the animations and turn the delays and overshoot down as far as they will go. I also make the drawer background flat black with no transparency. Makes for a VERY fast launcher. I also set the "System persistent" option in "System Preferences". That seems to help keep Android from killing it off. Returning to home is damn near instant now.
System animations (Settings->Display->Animation) is set to "No Animations". Again, makes things faster and I get bored watching the redraws.
Just things that have helped me make Froyo a daily driver build on my G1. The current pace of this stuff is amazing. Great work from everyone involved. I haven't seen any reason to drop back to CM5. I do need to look into the BT phone audio thing though. If I can fix that, it would be near perfect.

Just finished flashing, will report back. Also, according to Cyanogen's twitter they were able to fix the camera for DS. Thanks for sharing.
EDIT: IMO, Cyanogen is probably a few days from releasing the DS Alpha version of CM6 if this is what's currently on github. Not a diss or anything, just saying this isn't something he'd be comfortable releasing.

you have a mt3g 1.2 right? if so you need to get pershoots cm based kernel for 32b. after flashing this rom you need to flash that kernel. it works for me. this also works for any dream based roms.

how is it the camera working on the 1 cyanogen talked about on twitter n the camera not working on this? is this a copy/paste Rom

He did (G1) but he upgraded to a MyTouch
That sucks that this won't work for mytouch 3G. I'm sure cyanogen will have his out soon.
This rom is awesome, I still can't get current location to work for the gps, and market is missing lots of apps, anyone know how I can fix that?

yep, i tested it, it works well, but doesnt include some of our last commits... I asked arcee to rebuild it 3 times (to use the latest recovery).... ignored sigh...
Its not a big thing, but there was commits after the 15 march (like french fixes), and only some of the devices have it inside...

Remember its a "release" build, with a kernel included (179-4) ! don't flash that on Defy+ (and defy+ sbfs, Bootloader gen 6+)!

Update question
So how do we update.....Recovery and select this file like we did when we first swapped into 7.1???
So from my experience what do we do? Do a restore file first?......do we recover/install 7.2? then restore?
Never "updated" an aftermarket OS

Looks like the CM blog went down, *but* the download link is back up!
As with any change of ROM, just move the .zip file to your SD card, enter recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik cache, and install zip from SD card and reboot.
If you're updating from CM 7.1, you may not have to wipe data/factory reset... perhaps one of the devs can enlighten us?
whats difference bw cm 7.1 n 7.2 ??
will there b any major differences between theae 2 ?? ui or any kind...
m on wiui 1.10.28 i dis nt updated as this rom ia very good at battery...i used cm7.1 earlier but ever since i used this rom i love it
is there any additional options/ changes included here that is not present on the cm 7.2 nightlies by Quarx, Epsylon, Maniac or Euroskank?
can I use gb kernel? (2.6.32.9-g21f1a48) defy red lens
I had enough of the ICS, I'll came back when a full working rom is ready (anyway I want to thank everyones for the effords on ICS)

So can anybody confirm me how to "update" from 7.1 to 7.2?
If this is like the "old" WinMo days...if I RESTORE my backup...it may RESTORE system things too back to 7.1.....
Or will Google Sync services bring my device to par.

Just flash the zip via Stable Recovery. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache in case you get stuck and Reboot the device.
I use 7.2 nightly builds from here as they have the latest changes.

I tried this ROM recently and it has some bugs (I was using the Beta 2). The wifi doesn't work after rebooting. As soon as you turn it on, it goes off after a few seconds. Had to go back to the Beta 2.

[June 20, 2023]: Everyone using the ROM I am sorry but I have accidentally lost the "Updates" app source code and the one present in the github aren't up to date so the updater will have to be completely reworked and will be useless for this (1.9) release. Also new builds coming soon now that I am back on track!
Release Types
OTA Patch
An Update which is released as a patch, it does nothing on its own, it needs to be flashed on a preinstalled release. These are small in sizes and don't require formatting data. Do not flash these patches on any other ROM as it may brick your device.
OTA ROM
An Update which is released as a standalone ROM, it does not require any ROM to be flashed, it requires an empty system partition (that means you will have to remove previous ROM). Flashing these Updates on top of another ROM without wiping the old one may cause a lot of issues.
Release Channels
Stable
These releases are very stable and can be used for daily purposes.
Beta
These releases are not very stable, these try to bring new features which may cause a few issues. These are usually short term releases. These maybe supported till atmost 7 days.
Alpha/Testing
These releases are not stable, these might not boot and may have a lot of issues. These are usually very short term releases. These maybe supported till atmost 4 days.
Release Cycle
this is the release cycle which has been adapted from release 9.3.2 // Stable 1.8
Long Term Release (LTR)
These will be long term releases and will mostly try to play safe, these won't be filled with features but will act as a base to the newer STRs, these will be shipped as full ROM Update zips and not patch. These will atleast be the base for 2 weeks.
Short Term Releases (STR)
These will bring frequent changes, these releases maybe stable, beta or maybe even alpha, but mostly expect it as a beta update with a few stable ones, these releases will be frequent (atleast once a week and atmost 3 a day). These releases try to bring new stuff. These will be atmost last for 10 days if no new release is available, if an update is available these builds will be archived/obsolete.
Daily Builds?
No.
Note: Release naming has changed and now the internal naming will still be the same (1.7,1.8 ...) but the display version names will go like (9.3.1, 9.3.2...)

Spoiler
Format: ###[Version Type] [Version Number] [DD/MM/YYYY]
### Beta 1.9 [09/06/2023]
Release Overview: Major Performance update, adds pure performances X (tweaked for better performance), the ROM is now faster than Stock ROM and possibly even CM7 making it the FASTEST ROM for Galaxy Y. Also Introduces AROMA INSTALLER (BETA), a few UI changes too like a new android KitKat (4.4.x)/Jellybean (4.3.x) SystemUI with seperated notifications tab and quick settings panel, Trebuchet is back! (yes for the third time now) this time faster than ever. Updater app has a new grayed out look but its not permanent right now. New default wallpaper.
- CodeName: Jelly Pudding
- Fairly Big release (The biggest performance/backend release but nothing much new visually)
- 11th Release
- 3rd Beta Release
- Added Aroma Installer
- Fixed Apollo Force Closing on playing music
- Significant Performance Improvement! (Possibly now the fastest Galaxy Y ROM)
- Replaced Kiss Launcher with Trebuchet again
- New android KitKat like quick settings and notifications panel
- New Default Wallpaper!
- Added Pure Performances X (tweaked for even better performance)
- Slightly revamped Updates app UI (White-ish accent, KitKat like)
- New QuickPanel Settings App
### Stable 1.8 [25/05/2023]
Release Overview: The biggest update yet, (I know that I have been dropping big updates for some time now) Many many changes, majorly this release makes all apps in the ROM completely Free and Open Source. Reduced size significantly (again) the rom now stands at a 97mb and system only takes around 50mb that with more features than before! Majorly increases performance and complete app changes. This is also the smallest the ROM has ever been till now, also is the first build which ships with its own default wallpaper.
- CodeName: Iced-Donut
- Biggest Stable Release yet (Completely changed)
- 10th Release

Yes you can, also make sure to remove the Updater.apk (or something similar to this) from system/app because that is configured to work only with Galaxy Y and if you include it, it will display versions of GT-S5360 (not duos). I will later provide you with a modified version for duos. Also please share the method you use for porting, I am curious as I can't get CM9 ports working on my device, who knows maybe your method may workout.

I mostly just port it the same way of porting CM7 roms, but it only works if it's BCM21553 to BCM21553, also I'm mostly picking up where that other anime guy left off on DUOS and port a lot of CM7 roms
I'm gonna use a ported CM9 as base since for some reason CM9 build keeps failing on me,probably due to the fact that I use arch and it's way too new for CM9

actually that might be the issue, I am not sure because I am not building CM9 currently on my arch (btw). Also I think you are right about the bcm21553 thing because any ROM I port from GT-S5570 (Galaxy Mini/pop) are stuck on bootloops. But idk how this guy managed to port PA then: Thread link (Downloads are dead)

It worked, Ported Paranoid Android to SGY, will post soon. Only works when you use bieltv.3 builds of CM9 and not for afaneh's builds. So technically this won't work with my ROM too ig as its based off of afaneh's cm9.2.
