Hello everyone.
I've been playing with new HTC Sense 3.5 for some while now (RCMix3d rom for DHD) and I personally love some of the new apps made by HTC. Since i'm more into 3.0 at the moment, i have been trying to port some new apps to HTC Sense 3.0 or even 2.1 so more people could use them.
Since im no pro in dev. those apps force closed whatever i did. I couldn't get them to work properly. I'm talking about new Notes, Tasks, Fb Chat apps and widgets.
Youtube Video here (0:44 for those apps):

Thank you for your time guys!

yeah, i have no idea what's causing the problem :s
its clearly not compatible with 3.0, needs some changes imo
any1 know whats causing that issue?
Working updates for 3.5 coming shortly then porting to 3 will be easy... Let's gets the basics right first

Your problem is you have to use the framework.apks and other apks they are dependant on.... So it will prob not be possible since they changed alot of things.... If you do use framework_res and com.HTC.resources from these roms on the old roms it will prob cause more harm than its worth

So there is a great possibility that those apps won't ever get ported to 2.1 or 3.0 unless framework could be ported too? is it even possible?
framework-hacking is possible ! so it is not impossible !
HTC Facebook chat App+Widget
Okay, i've found one of those apps above.
Its FB Chat, taken out from HTC Salsa.
XDA TOPIC LINK
It is possible but it take a fair bit of coding if you are to do it correctly
I already merged all changes from 3.5 com.htc.resources and Rosie in respective 3.0 apk`s and compiled 3.5 apk´s against new merged com.htc.resources. New framework compiled and works fine, still no success. Troubleshooting is getting harder, since the 3.5 apk`s are also pulling from shared m.10 files and these are impossible to merge with the current tools. So that might be tougher, then 3.0 mods to 2.1, where we could merge all needed resources in apk`s, jars and add missing libs (which was tough enough - kudos to seo).
I guess adding the sense style launcher to 3.5 would be less of a cruisade

hmm yea, what about that sense 3.0 launcher merging with 3.5 one? or basicly just making a theme with 3.0 dock could work also..
but first sense 3.5 needs to have better base for doing that imo
also, those notes and tasks are completely new or have the apps been seen anywhere else? Since HTC Status already got the "new" fb chat intergration..
PS: by the way, i heard somewhere that sense 3.5 UI is being accelerated by GPU? Is it true? And if yes, can this be done to 3.0 too?
this is for the FB chat and it works on desire hd

Yes, this is the one ported from the HTC Status, but the widget isn't properly resized since it was ported for the Evo 3D.

some news?
dudes and dudettes,
I tried out one of the Sense ICS ROMS (ARHD 5.0.2) and while aspects of it were great, at the moment (due to kernel development) it's a lot slower than the Gingerbread ROMs available.
However, I really loved the HTC ICS "Notes" and "Tasks" apps.
My questions,
1. Is it possible to run these apps on Gingerbread? Obviously the widgets couldn't really be integrated with a current ROM without recooking the whole thing, but just being able to use the apps would be great. Could someone provide the APKs if it is possible?
2. If that won't work, could somebody strip the icons from the apks for me? I love them and I'd like to use them for my note and to do apps.
Thanks for reading,
zuka
They work on Sense Gingerbread ROMs, yes.
I've installed both on a Gingerbread Sense 3.0 ROM and they both force close. Am I doing something wrong?
I should have clarified, Sense 3.5 ROMs have them.
Hello,
As always, developers are sliding further and further away from the Sense UI. While I am also for this, I am curious as to what will happen with the functionality of the Media Link HD. Will developers be able to keep the functionality in there while removing most of the sense bloat or will this be considered bloat? Can somebody tell me exactly what "apps" htc has added for the functionality so that we can put them back if the developers remove them? What kind of dependencies do these apps need? Thank you for your help.
I imagine no one will know that until it is tried/we get an unlocked bootloader
Sense apps are usually pretty intertwined with the Sense framework. AFAIK, there has been little success importing Sense apps and features to AOSP ROMs. On the other hand, Sense ROMs stripped of some of their features and bloat, and themed to look AOSP are not out of the question (and pretty prevalent on other devices). Its possible a dev will make something like this, and leave the Media Link HD function intact. The only way to really answer this question, is if some devs come on here and tell you themselves. Even then, its so early on, and those plans may well change.
Scott's CleanROM Dev edition is pretty close. It still has the media link and some other sense features but the launcher and widgets are all stripped out. Runs very nice and Apex launcher is built in.
Hey guys, I've been away from Sensation development for a while so I'm not that current on what ROMs are available.
Basically, I've been using AOSP for a while and it's so much better at multitasking/fluidity that I don't really want to go back to Sense 3.6 or 4. However, I just don't think there's an app available that beats HTC's clock and weather functions - they really are amazing. I don't want or need access to Sense widgets, just the apps would be fine.
Is there any way to get Sense 3.6 or 4's clock and weather on a stock ICS Rom? I know it's not as simple as just chucking an apk on there because they come with additional services and libraries, so has any dev done something similar I might be able to have a look at?
Thanks for reading, I'd appreciate any advice or replies
Cheers!
Hi guys,
I have question:
Why any developer doesn't ported any ROM like Sense 7 ? Beacuse I think that there are like 10 ROMs with same features and looking the same stock Android. I tested all the ROMs available and I don't found any unqiue outstanding features. Without gapps all the ROMs have the same performance and the same stock apps execpt CM but there are just stock modified with little features compard with Sense 7 or touchwiz. I know that you will say that Sense 7 has bloatware but isn't to much to slow down the phone or anything and some options from Sense 7 are useful and more beautiful apps than stock google apps like browser (heavy), or music, dialer, contacts etc... and I know that you will say why I don't make a port: the answer is simple: I don't know how. I don't have any knowledge about how porting works or anything even with tutorials.
So, I am asking if any developer/ users will be interested to install/port Sense 7 or another OEM software to our Moto G.
If this post is useless you can close and delete it
Thanks !
Here is one project that has stalled unfortunately.
