for the temp root it keeps saying no such file or directory :/

wait for after you DL it...you run fr3vo.bat and what does it say

It tries pushing fre3vo but it fails, and then it says no such file or directory, and permission denied for other things. I can't really show it now b/c my mom is using the laptop. Is there another way to root it besides mr root and/or htc dev. I'm going to try and download mr root tomorrow again.

Wow, yesterday I had the same EXACT problem as you. I tried using that guide and I was also stuck with the Fre3vo part. It was just so annoying and then I found his older guide tinyurl.com/3w77z39 and it worked perfectly so maybe this guide may help you?

thanks. Good thing my phone came with the old hboot

I rooted mine yesterday using Mr Root. Had minimal problems but those were my mistakes. Also check your bootloader if using 007 works with Mr Root other wise will need the all in 1 tool kit listed in dev section.

all bootloaders are compaitable with mr root

I rooted it already the old way though. Thanks to everyone and helped

Rooting MT4G In 3 Minutes!

Months ago I had so many problems rooting my MT4G. Recently, I decided to load the stock rom on my phone, just to root it all over again. I was able to do it in about 3 minutes! Here we go...
The following prerequisites can be found by searching/googling the forums.
1.) need VisionARY r14 .apk file
2.) need MyTouchRootingFiles (zip containing hboot_dhd.nb0, root.sh, and wpx.ko)
3.) download and install Android Terminal Emulator from Android Market
Ok, now that we got that out of the way, here are the instructions.
1.) Install VisionARY to your phone
2.) Unzip the MyTouchRootingFiles file to your computer, then copy the unzipped folder called ROOT to the root of your sdcard using usb cable
3.) While phone is NOT connected to computer, start VisionARY. Press the TEMP ROOT option to gain temporary root access. Exit VisionARY.
4.) Start Terminal Emulator and type the following, hitting enter after each line
SU
CD /SDCARD/ROOT
SH ROOT.SH5.) After rebooting, start VisionARY again, and gain TEMP ROOT once again
6.) Wait a few minutes (this is very important, don't rush), then press ATTEMPT PERM ROOT, your phone will reboot
7.) After rebooting, start Terminal Emulator and simply type SU. If you get the "#", you have rooted your phone!
Now you can explore the Android world by installing custom roms created by the community. You may want to research how to backup your device before starting to flash roms.
Good luck!
This will only work if you have the good eMMC chip set W/ 2.2.x. And it's a pretty well known method of rooting phones. Heck i have this method in my signature from when i posted the same thing months ago.
You do know this method only works for froyo 2.2. Now a days mostly everyone is on gingerbread 2.3. Gingerbread bread updated device is more complex to root. It requires you to downgrade then root.
When I started rooting mt4g's this is the method I used and it took me about 3 to 5 minutes as well. This is also without using a pc. Everything done from the device. Its not as easy now though.

Yup, I'm aware. But anytime you get a MT4G from Tmo, it's still coming with 2.2... My instructions were basically for people that have had their Mt4g, but were afraid to root...

Search the forums on how to check your eMMC chip. (I'd post the link, but i'm on my way to work & don't have it off hand. If you really can't find it, PM me & I'll find it.) Long story short, this method may not work, depending on the type of eMMC in your phone. You will
need to root via the gfree method, also available in the xda forums. Mackster248 has a great tutorial on YouTube.

[Q] Is there someone working on a root method?

Hey guys, as the title states, is there anyone working on root method for the latest OTA (9/4/12)? I foolishly updated, as always hoping they'd fix the reloading issue, and now I'm stuck on it because I can't seem to find a working root method for this update. If anyone needs a test phone, then I'm up for it, I gotta get this thing working properly already!!
Thanks,
John

I know what you mean, I've also gone through a bunch of different websites, and nothing there, perhaps another phone with a similar OS has a solution that could be worked off of. Heck, I've fiddled around with a few different methods, but the primary issue is not being rooted. I managed to get a part of the clockwork recovery, but even though I had a ROM in the sdcard root, my phone just rebooted, and no change was made, may try a different ROM for the heck of it.
Takes time if it's going to happen. He's a fairly busy person .

I think I will, even though I just used an external application to do the reboots for me, where tacroot couldn't get the permissions.
It came as a surprise, as most of the stuff I tried failed me.

I'll link to my thread. I wrote one up last night asap.

Did I do something?

I was running Venom ROM ICS and wanted to try out the JB version so I download it and it boots up and naturally, I start to play around. I installed titanium backup again to get my things back and it tells me I have no root. I say whaaaaa!? I then download a rootchecker app from the store and it confirms I have no root. How the world did that happen?
I panicked and booted into recovery and restored the backup I made before flashing the ROM. Now I can get back into fastboot and recovery but when I try to boot up it is a black screen. Should I RUU and start all over or am I salvageable?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA this thread just brightened my day.

How to get from S=On to S=Off on 2.3.3?

I've gone through every single thread in the tutorial section and, to my demise, there wasn't a single tutorial for 2.3.3. Most of them need you to be on 2.2, which is impossible for me because you've to turn S=On off before you can even consider downgrading your phone's firmware.
So what're my options at this point?
