[Q] Widget for built-in task manager - HTC Sensation

Is it possible to make a widget for the built in task manager?
Like Advanced Task Killer, has that lil android as a widget.
I like the the built-in one cuz that one kills everything, not like atk.
So, is that possible?
Sorry if im the 101st who ask this, i didnt see any thread about it :/

Haven't seen any threads on it either. I don't think it is possible though, I have a feeling only HTC would be able to but not 100% sure.
Also, you don't need to kill all your tasks, Android does it for you.

Task Managers on android

I have been doing some research on weather task managers are needed on andorid and weather they do more harm than good. And i have come across these articles which i found interesting :
Google and cyanogen saying they are useless and do more harm than good:

I only use task killers to end apps that auto update in the background when i dont want them to (e.g. twitter apps) and leave everything else running. The only other time i use them is to kill non responding apps and my battery and performance are fine. what do you guys think?
I agree, but what I really miss from WM is a good task switcher. It would be nice to see my running apps in the notification window so I can switch. I've briefly looked for something similar but haven't found anything like the above yet.
I also really miss LMT for using dual gestures to bring up task switcher and also to perform whatever I assigned to it...
That's the only real reason I still use the task killer/manager is to just switch apps.
if you want a lil performance boost with out a task killer [email protected] auto memory manager it actually changes the way android manages it memory and running programs been using it since my g1 its one of my must have apps

I used to do that too until i found these apps on the market
TaskOs - quick and easy task switcher (set as home then choose your home app again)
Quick Desk beta (try it out, hard to explain, awesome though)
Task Switcher - extended version of holding down home button
Multitask Manager - ios4 style task switcher/manager
These are the best ones imo

You probably already know, but just in case. When you hold down the home button, a display a list of your last apps used will pop-up. I use it to switch between open apps and even apps that are not still open.

I actually noticed a task switcher that is built-in to the new sense rom on the HTC Desire Z. It's the same as holding on the home button, but it's in the notification window. I noticed it in the "A Closer Look" video at 5:28 minutes. I've been looking for something similar, but can't find any yet.
I've tested them all but always revert back to atk, not for performance but for keeping battery usage low, testing now with nothing running in regards to task managers will report battery usage,
Hd2 with Android I think is more than powerfully enough, don't need to kill tasks for any reason apart from improving battery life,
Do you agree?

very beautifull app switcher and task killer is <itching thumb> like palm pre. try it...
I havent used a task killer since mvp77 brought it to my attention in the android general section!
I use autokiller which allows me to tell android how aggressive I want it to be other than that I dont like task killers.
as far as battery life I dont really think task killers improve battery life. Though Ive gotten to the point where battery life is so long I am comfortable.
I set my twitter update intervals at like every 2 hours.
Widgets like the engadget ones that constantly scroll drive battery life down.

I've started using autokiller myself.

Question about widgets - task manager and stocks tracking?

is there any honeycomb friendly task manager or stock tracking Widgets?
I like to put them on the home screen but the ones I found are quite small for use on tablets.
I have never used a stock widget. As for the task manager, you don't need one. Android manages task on its own. If you happen to get a stuck app, go to settings, apps, manage apps, then find the app and stop it.

I know that's the argument about android task manage in a perfect world.
However, in actual usage I get STUCKED apps all the time. For example, if I don't disconnect from team viewer before jumping to another it gets stuck... This make it very cumbersome to go to settings app all the time.
I really need something on the home screen to kill these sticker apps.

Use Active Apps. It doesn't manage or autokill, just a widget that gives you a list of running apps and lets you close one or all with a single button. Very easy.
As for a stock ticker widget....I would love to find one too. Can't imagine there isn't one out there somewhere.

Best Task Manager?

I just saw the Galaxy TouchWiz task manager, and I think that's a great function to have. I am currently rooted, is there a similar task manager that one can download? Something simple, quick, easy to access...
Thanks
Try System Panel
Check out System Panel Lite: https://market.android.com/details?id=nextapp.systempanel&hl=en
I prefer Advanced Task Killer (Pro)

The best task killer is not to use one.
... Please?

Normally I don't need to, but I like to have something easy and quick for times when apps cause an issue (more often than I'd like, unfortunately).

Maybe you should look for alternative apps then? Task killers are not the solution.
If that is the case, just use the defualt Android to force close it.

[Q] Q: [ROM][UNOFFICIAL] Compiled CM 7 for Infuse 4G

Hi everyone! I want to know, is there a way to put the samsung task manager in the cm7 rom? I love cm7 and it's the first time i used it, but the downner for me is no task manager . I really like closing my apps that stay open. I've tried advanced task killer from the market and it didn't work. I reopen the app and it will leave me off where i left off. Please can someone let me know what i can do? Thanks :d
Well I wont be a douche like a lot of others here but imma tell u.... do what I do when I wanna find something... go to Google and type in EXACTLY the application ur lookin for and the the magic letters apk and search, that's how I find most things

Well I just did the non "douche" thing and googled what you said. And guess what? Nothing. Only a few task managers from HTC devices popped up, and they are incompatible with our sammy's. It seems(I'm not 100% sure, this is my first samsung) this is the first to feature a task manager.
I have a copy of the infuse task manager apk, which you could probably just put in system/app and change the permissions. It might work. I just don't know where to upload it.

Give Go Launcher a shot. It has a pretty decent task killer widget that works like you want.

And Go Launcher Ex does have a nice built in task killer like LB said. Try it out.
There are several task manager apps in the market that are as good or better than the included one. I too wasn't crazy about Advanced Task Killer, and from the sound of it you're simply looking for something simple and straight forward you can use as needed. Here's a few I've used that are pretty good. Some have more features so which one to go with is a matter of preference. (Don't have enough posts here yet to post external links...sorry)
Mobo Task Killer Pro - Free - market.android.com/details?id=com.mobo.task.killer
Nice UI. Fairly simple. Haven't determined yet how beneficial it's "Optimize" function is. Can optionally persist in your notification bar.
SystemPanelLite Task Manager - Free - market.android.com/details?id=nextapp.systempanel
Also has nice UI. With monitoring enabled it persists in your notification bar and logs very handy resource usage that can be viewed to see processor intensive apps, processor/battery usage, etc. It has a paid pro version that gives additional features like apk management and extended resource monitoring.
Super Manager - Free - market.android.com/details?id=gpc.myweb.hinet.net.TaskManager
This one HAS a task manager, along with a plethora of other tools. APK Manager, File Explorer, and backup functions are included. I tried this one out primarily for the Super Manager quick launch window, which is fantastic. The task manager itself it has is OK, but a little convoluted and the icons are difficult to interpret IMO. Free version is the full version, but includes a "donation" version that as far as I know includes no additional features, and is just a thank you/contribution.
ES Task Manager - Free - market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.taskmanager
Haven't tried this one extensively yet, but all the ES apps are fantastic so it's probably as good as anything else.
Thanks. I will give it a shot and let you guys which one I liked

Best Task manager?

I was looking for opinions about the "best" Task Manager for ICS.
Hopefully you want to share it
At the moment i'm using ES task manager, not bad, but i was wondering if there where better ones out there?
on ice hold the home button and all your recent windows come up and you can swipe them away to kill the task. This is built into ice. An additional task killer is not reccomended.

I like this screen off killer function.
But I dont think android GB++ need task manager.

i see a few different task killers posted here, though there isn't really a task killer that all of us must have...?
you may take a look or try Active Apps Ads / Task Manager ...
I use system tuner pro, it has a lot more functions than killing apps and uses very little RAM. To use all of it's functions, the device has to be rooted.
I use Advanced Task Killer Pro - works fine
