[Q] Touchscreen not responding - stuck TF101 tablet - what can I try? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK - since the recent ota upgrade to ICS we've been having a few problems with the table touchscreen freezing - unfortunately now it seems to have got stuck almost all the time. Just at the moment, it is not responding at all to touch - just displays the lock screen when powered on, and then times out a little while later to black. I have to push power to get it back on - but the touch screen simply won't respond to unlock it. So far I have tried:
Holding down power until restarts - no effect - reboots still locked.
Using Vol-Down power on and doing factory reset - no effect - reboots into android setup screen touchscreen not working.
Draining power until it won't turn on. Then recharged. This worked! However...
After going through the setup process, resintalling apps etc., I hit the power button to go into standby. I then thought I'd go straight back in, but as soon as I hit the power button again, it wouldn't respond! Left it charging for a couple of hours, and turned on, this time got in - but same again - hitting the power button and coming straight back in, it's not responding again.
So I'm now back with a fully charged tablet that won't respond to touch at all. - perhaps if I leave it a few hours it might respond again - until it goes into standby!? The device is fully stock with WW_epad-9.2.1.11-20120221 (according to the screen at boot up when you hold down vol-d).
Is this likely to be software or hardware related? Do I need to send it for repair/replacement, or is there something else I can try first? Any help much appreciated. (Oh - I don't have external keyboard btw - so without screen it's pretty limited what i can do!)
Cheers,
Colin.

I have already encountered the same problem but with a cutom rom. to find my touch, I had to do a full wipe and new intallation.

I did full wipe using the Power/Vol-D but the touch screen didn't start working again until I let the battery completely drain.
Then I reinstalled everything (screen was working to begin with), however after I'd set everything up and reinstalled all my apps it stopped again.
Yesterday I managed to get an ota update to 9.2.1.17 (it started working for a short time). But then aftger rebooting again, it stopped again.
This morning it is working again, and I have uninstalled all my apps - just the core stuff on there now. For the moment it appears to be working (which is the longest for a while!) - going to see if it stops again while there aren't any extra apps installed...

My sprint mogul was working fine this morning then... it freaked out.

Earlier today, my mogul was working fine. But then it started getting sluggish, so I decided to soft reset it. Then the freak out begins.
This is my process of turning on the phone.
- Press power button
- Get to green windows mobile screen and hangs for a 5-10 minutes. (If I don't have the charger in, the screen turns off and turns on later when the phone gets passed the green boot up screen.)
- I managed to disable all my today plugins but when I try to get to SK Tools to try to fix the phone, i can't even make it past the start menu. It freaks out and the delay time is looong.
- The phone then craps itself and turns off the screen, but not letting me turn it back on. Forcing me to soft reset or take out the battery.
I HATE MY MOGUL!!! It sucks!!!!!! What can I do?!?!??!
Software Problem
Hi
It sounds like a software problem. I think that a hard reset would probably fix it but obviously that's a last resort.

[Q] Has anyone else had the touch screen stop working after the new update (UK)

My TF has done this three times now since yesterday's FOTA. The device hasn't crashed as I can still use ADB and the notification bar relects the true battery status, time etc. I can also turn the screen on and off with the power button but I can't unlock it due to the screen not accepting touch input.
This happens regardless if use a custom rom or not.
Has anyone else had this experience?

My device had this issue, but with the 3/25(?) firmware (it came from overseas -- Taiwan). I basically thought I had a brick, but yesterday I used not-quite-pristine US system.img via a nandroid backup, and it brought it back to life. Still working, 18 hours later (and with the latest OTA update).
If you still have cwm / nandroid access, PM me and I'll post up the system.img that I used to fix my issue, yesterday. It was basically an image I found on Android Central, and I yaff2'd it and added my own md5sum so that nandroid could recognize it. My ongoing concern is that the permissions could be all screwy and softlinks could be broken. But, given the choice of that versus a bricked tablet, I could live with broken softlinks.
mine has done it 3 time while playing fruit ninja but only while playing that and not whit normal use as browsing and all that

Same here. Touchscreen stopped responding while playing that game, but that happened even before the OTA.
How can you get it to start responding again or force a reboot? I just got mine in the mail, pushed the lock button, and now it won't respond to any of my touches. Stuck at the lock screen.

Hold the power button for 10-12 seconds to force power it off. Release button. Wait a couple seconds. Power on as normal (a 5-6 second hold down of the power button). If still no joy... you're screwed perhaps.
ok thanks a lot holding the power button down for a long time did force it to turn off, now it's working again.

[Q] HTC TD2 Power On-Off - Virus?

My TD2 keeps wanting to turn off - the power off screen comes up (do you want to turn off your device?). If I select yes, it shuts down and immediately restarts. If I select no, it pops up again within a few minutes.
The device doesn't respond to the power button. I can't perform a hard reset, soft reset works OK, but problem continues. IF left sitting, the phone goes to sleep but wakes up soon after and the power dialog comes up again. If I remove and replace the battery, device starts OK but problem continues.
It may be coincidence, but this started hapenning the day after I (stupidly) opened a strange MMS and tried to play the attached "video" - which didn't play.
Haven't tried to reflash ROM - not sure what ROM I should be looking for. Current ROM version is 2.31.841.6 (64646) WWE. Should I just look for that? (This is a Telstra TD2 that I have had for bout a year - bought online)
Thanks.

Power button / Screen Wake Suddenly don't work

Hey guys,
strange and frustrating problem. I was using my phone pretty extensively today (although nothing crazy), mostly thanks to Pokemon Go. Tonight after using my phone normally, I went to press the power button to turn the screen off and nothing happened. I was able to reboot (by changing one of the long-press actions to bring up the power menu via GravityBox) and then was unable to power on the phone. It seems like my hardware power button has suddenly become unresponsive. This leaves me unable to power on/off the phone, including booting into the bootloader. Also, I seem to be unable to wake my phone up by double tapping the screen or swiping up.
The phone otherwise functions fine. If I get a notification, the screen wakes up and I can use the phone. Otherwise, the only way I've been able to get into the phone is by connecting it to a computer and issuing ADB commands. The IR blaster functions fine which makes me think it's not the hardware button?
Has this happened to anyone else before? Can the power button just break like that without any water / physical damage? The fact that I also can't wake the screen makes me think it's a software issue. One other thing I suspect is that my phone abruptly died yesterday (battery died despite software thinking it still had juice left). In the past, with the modified kernel / rom, this has resulted in some nasty issues, including 4G not working and the Android system process basically exploding. I thought I lucked out when I powered it on after that, but maybe it just took a day for this issue to manifest itself.
I'm going to make a NANDROID backup and try flashing a few different things to see if I can fix it. I'll post my progress here.
Current build:
- Verizon M8, S-OFF
- TWRP
- Android GPE 6.0 (MRA58K.H13)
Edit: I haven't been able to find a fix. I'm a bit afraid to try a full RUU since I can't use the hardware keys to reboot into the bootloader should something go wrong. It may just be that my PWR hardware button is f'd which really sucks. I'm not sure I'm up to cracking open the phone to fix it. In the meantime I downloaded an app called Gravity Screen On/Off which uses the phone's proximity sensor to wake the screen up and it seems to work ok for now.

Samsung S7 - Random Crash / Restart constantly

Hi,
My S7 crashed randomly and was stuck in a loop of the recovery menu. The short version is, I was fairly convinced it was a battery issue, and after changing the battery I was able to boot up successfully and (eventually) backup / copy off all my files. It wasn't esasy as it was constantly crashing and very unstable.
So, I did a full factory reset. This was via the settings menu after booting up and logging in because I couldn't access the recovery menu method. Factory reset has not solved my issue is still crashes usually after a few minutes at best.
Things that work
- Screen not broken, works perfectly, no dead pixels.
- No water damage / not dropped
- Volume Up and Down keys work (for volume and force power off when its crashed)
- Speakers / Microphone
- Both Cameras
- Wireless charging
- Cable Charging
- Full factory reset to latest stock android 8. Never rooted. Totally stock.
Things that don't work
- Vol Up + Home +Power to get to recovery menu / safe mode. Never managed to successfully do this
- I think it could be running a bit hotter than before, this may be subjective.
- Sometimes it crashes, screen powers off, but red charging light remains even when unplugged and it runs hot. Basically until the battery dies.
- Often crashes on first boot, e.g. during "samsung" boot screen. - Will restart and often gets to login on second attempt.
I've been testing via the diagnostics menu *#0*# (What a cool feature!) - Generally this is working ok, and nothing jumps out as failing, but its not easy as it crashes so randomly anyway. Can anyone recommend anything specific I should test?
So - Have I got a new Brick? Is there anything else I should do to try to save my phone? If it was smashed I could begrudingly write it off, but its in otherwise perfect condition! (3 months out of warranty!)
First time poster, any help appreciated.
Thanks

Can you flash latest unbranded stock? If still happens then it's battery failing. S7 is old phone now

Thanks, I've replaced the battery with a new one. Tried full factory reset a second time but it crashed and hasn't restarted since.
I think it must be a hardware issue. It thinks its charging when unplugged, gets hot when "off" won't switch off when crashes so need to wait for battery to die before recharging and trying again.
Yes, its old ish, but really only just over 2 years. My S3 lasted 4.5 years so getting half the lifespan from the S7 is really dissappointing. It was in perfect condition until this happened .
