[GUIDE] How to get 23gb on Dropbox? - Android General

Hello all.
I saw a few people who couldn't get extra space on Dropbox. It's short guide how to do it.
First of all you need rom with Sense 4 (we've got a few. It's your choice) and of course Dropbox account (but you can create new so don't worry).
1. Get mobile network package if in your rom WiFi doesn't work
2. Do full wipe
3. Flash rom
It's obvious.
4. Configure rom. When you see Dropbox login please log in or create new account.
5. Continue configuration and use your rom.
That's all. You should get an e-mail from Dropbox crew: "You got 23gb bla bla bla".
After that check your Dropbox. I done it on my PC. Just opened Dropbox folder and after few minutes it showed information about my extra space.
If something doesn't work please do full wipe, flash rom and try once again.
You'll get extra 23gb space valid for 24 months permanently.
If it works plz click thanks button
Plz don't write about illegal Dropbox app on this thread!

Doesnt really work for me, i must do 5 Thinks for Dropbox to become a special Suprise...

If it's valid for 24 months, it's not exactly permanent,is it?

I meant after you delete rom with Sense 4 Dropbox won't cut down your space.
Wysłano z Desire HD.

Works on me but I did it before this tutorial

nope.. not happening
Tried a few times & these 5 steps are a bust.
Most I get offered is 250MB after each wipe/flash & am up to 2.75GB now
Cannot be bothered performing this method 89 more times so I'll stick with 50GB on box, thanks anyways.

Idk what's wrong, it works fine for me and others. I like Dropbox and idk why but I think it's safer for me. Dropbox was first too.
Wysłano z Desire HD.

Box would be great if it didn't have the 100mb file limit. Dropbox also syncs both ways much better. I use Box as well and it won't delete files if you've deleted them on your laptop (so it keeps everything). On the other hand, Dropbox syncs and updates files much better.

Sounds too good to be true imho, especially when you only seem to get 250mb per flash.

I got a confrimatiom message to click a link to get it, but it keeps directing me to the home page. What shall I do?

and...whats happen after 24 month passed?our space cutted to original space 2GB ?

Unless you pay whatever the rate is for that amount of space, I would expect it to drop to whatever level you have 'earned' by other methods. As you get extra 250MB from referrals, etc, then across 2 years you could add quite a lot of 'free' space that is yours to keep.

Did you find any solution? I'm stuck at this too, got this mail:
"Thanks for supercharging your HTC device with Dropbox! To get the most out of your Dropbox, visit our Getting Started guide and gain an extra 23 GB of space!"
The five steps gave me 250 mb but thats not what i wanted
Edit: I've tried to wipe and changed to another sense4-rom, but since i got the mail above that doesnt seem to be the problem.

I have stick at this mail too it won't and won't give me the 23 gb space whatever what i do

Yes, me too very strange. When I got there, I saw I hadn't taken the "tour", the only one of the 7 or so steps that yo uneed to complete to become a guru and get an additional 3gb space.
So I did that, but still the 23gb did not appear. I have racked up 20gb of space via referrals, camera uploads and others, but the 23gb is not appearing.
(I've gone back to my previous sense 3.5 ROM, since ICS was just a bit too experimental for me )

High Time
Guys its seriously high time. We have been doing sooooo many things on earth to get those extra GBs on our cloud solution. Time to know some alternatives in the market and choose the ones that meet our needs. One such suggestion from me would be Syncblaze. Give it a try, its cool, amazing, cheaper than others, offers plenty of features. I am sure you will love it.

Or in alternative u have in Google Play others like Box that offers u for free 50Gb for a lifetime.

Cool, amazing.... but what's the cost?? Just had a quick look, there is no mention that I could find of it's pricing.
Looks like an enterprise solution, at least - Dropbox has the advantage of free storage for less demanding users, as do most other cloud solutions.
Box is pretty good too, though it's a pure web solution, I do prefer Dropbox, mainly since some apps iI use integrate their on-line backup to it (yes, I could set that link up manually...)

Worked for me, but I'm on HTC Evo 3D right now.

I received the 23 gb mail, but I got only 250mb extra...

[POLL] How many max apps have you installed at any point of time?

How many max no. of apps[at any point of time] have you installed on your device ?
I had heard someone saying 200 apps... so was curious to know about this
Off-topic- Which program do u use to back up these apps so that you dont have to install them again after flashing a new rom
a poll would have been fun
I have way over 365+ Apps installed, that i simply did a 1 button restore using Titanium Backup from my SGS (User Apps+User Data)
it was totally painless
then in Market, i hit "Update All" and Bam! all Apps were updated to the latest version.
so far I've not come across any OLD 2.1/2.2 software that does not work properly in 2.3
well technically speaking they are NOT old anymore, since they were all UPDATED to the latest version from Market
that's probably what prevented all the errors

Wow, and I thought I was a "shameless app whore" with all the apps I have (130 or so)!
How much memory have those 365 apps used up? Curious because of other discussions over the need (or lack of, in my opinion) to use apps2sd or not on the Nexus S.
that's why i always complaing about the missing microSD
currently sitting at around 800 MB on apps usage, some games are huge (Gamerloft / EA), and Copilot GPS software takes up another 3 GB, it doesn't leave me much for MP3 and Animes/Movies on the go
^^
You're not the only one who thought they had a ton of apps installed....at one point in time I think I had 150+ installed but I've since done some pruning and am down to 128 now (according to appbrain).
I'm afraid that with all the space available on the Nexus S I'm going to resort back to my app hoarding days.
yup, i love appbrain, makes Cataloguing my apps such a breeze
also finding new or better apps to what i currently have already

Yeah, I miss the sdcard, but am getting by without it. I can easily fill up 28 gigs with just music, videos, and titanium or nandroid backups.
Doesn't your CoPilot map data go on the sdcard? Mine does. That doesn't count as part of the internal space for apps that we get (~ 1gb) or the need/lack-of-need to use apps2sd. I'm sure you know that, but some of the noobs might be confused by that. The actual app is only about 15mb in the apps space.

already deleted a whole bunch of MP3 and movies to make space

WP7 Lock app ... FREE

Hey guys ,
As most of you know , I work with the WP7 Android group . We are a group dedicated to bringing the WP7 ui to Android . I am hoping mods do not shut me down for *advertising* , but this is the only way we can do it and have it still be beneficial to us . This is 100% free , and should not be in violation of any XDA policies . If I am mistaken mods , let me know how i can fix it before locking me down .
A HUGE thank you goes out to everyone that took place in our promotion , but after 500 emails in just over 24hrs ... its time to go to the market .
Search WP7Lock .

I understand that you guys want to make money and are working very hard and I appreciate that but some people (myself included) don't have any convenient way of buying things online. No credit or debit card, no PayPal, no Google checkout, etc.
I think it would help to release some of your more basic things like the lockscreen and contacts and stuff for free, full-featured, then release the more complicated stuff like launcher and music player for a price. It would bump your sales and encourage people to try your stuff more if we didn't have to jump through hoops to get a half-working version of it.
as in, you should post the apk without any features disabled on here. Easy to get and then it will attract more people than making them go sign up for something and take screenshots and emails and whatnot and still only get part of the app.

My thoughts are similar; your project is unique (think about it, there is literally no other wp7 lockscreen for android that's been widely distributed before, same with most of the rest of your apps). If you were to release the full version for free, it would undoubtedly get more downloads, generate some goodwill and get your project coverage on sites like engadget, gizmodo, droid life, etc. through user submitted tips. You wouldn't need to skew peoples incentive to send their thoughts to engadget about the project to get this stripped down and un-updatable version because a free fully featured release would create a bigger buzz, and leave both sides in a better situation.

I understand your guys thoughts about the market. And its coming. Our current purchase system is chaos, and I recognize that. When this first started, we didn't have devs in the us that Google aloud to post in the market. Its not because we didn't want to. Now that we can, we are. Its just taking extra time. This lock will be free in the market as well as the full version. We just wanted to try this for about a week. Thanks for the kind feedback though. Were working very hard.

Just got the .apk
+ It's stylish and practical with SMS and mail count, and missed calls.
+ .apk only 61kB and once installed the app weighs only 157kB!
- 960x800 wallpaper gets crammed into 480x800 and it looks silly. Please make it so it uses the center of the wallpaper.
- if you wake the screen right after turning if off it kind of lags and shows half of the homescreen before the lockscreen falls down to it's place. Waiting 5 seconds before waking it again gives no issues at all. Purely cosmetic though.
I would easily pay 1-2€ for this if the issues are fixed in the paid version, and judging by the largely grayed out settings panel, there will be a lot of customization options available.
Still waiting for the apk! :S
Try not to post that you are waiting ;-) I'm on top of it ... there are literally hundreds of emails. But I'm pretty sure I have sent yours already. I'm pretty much caught up for now.

Good find.
Of course the obvious problem I have with this is that if they ever get smart and choose a different way to identify the device manufacturer, they have no reason to save your data. In fact, they'd probably instantly wipe it out of spite.
So it becomes cloud storage that is free, but insecure and unreliable... and isn't that kind of the point of clout storage?

Yes, this is totally worth your time.
Think of Dropbox like your online storage, and box.net more like near off-line. I use Dropbox for keeping files that I refer to, or occasionally edit synchronized between three machines, and it works great for that but since I'm limited in drive space I keep it fairly clean. With box.net, I'll be using that more for archiving things like legal documents, static documents, etc...

How to get free 50GB storage BOX.com

HOW TO GET FREE 50GB STORAGE (your phone need to be rooted):

No, it's a corporate offer, between LG and Box.net, and the offer expires on March 31st 2012, not December, and not your 50gb space.

thanks in advance
I've entered Box today and I got the 50 GB. It will come handy for certain purposes...
It's official
It's finally official: Android Community
I logged in a few minutes ago and got my 50 GB
Yeah I did too. However, there is 1 important detail you need to be aware of.
"What is the file upload limit?
Normally free Box Personal accounts have a 25MB upload limit, but we’re bumping it up to 100MB for this promotion in order to help you get the most out of your 50GB of storage. With a 100MB upload limit, you’ll be able to easily save pictures, presentations, audio files and documents to the cloud."
So as long as your files are 100 MB or smaller, you're OK. But forget about backing up a Nandroid to your Box account. (I just found that out, LOL)
Not a big issue: files can be split in pieces and downloaded through a good download manager. Megaupload used to reward loyalty points only for files under 100 MB, so people know the drill.
I uploaded music to my storage but I can't play the music from the box.net app. I can only play it from the website. Can anyone else play music via the app?
How about that, i was about to do this trick and logged into box first.
Guess what it said: You have succesfully upgraded to 50GB with your SONY ERICSSON device !! guess that sony ericsson deal went live !
Edit: yep its official http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/produ...ason-xperia™-is-giving-you-the-gift-of-cloud/
I'd like to know more about that, but I think it's a moot point because don't you HAVE to use Box's download manager?
Regardless, this is a great deal for backing up photos, music, documents, that sort of thing, which is what they probably expect the average person to be doing. I was just looking for a way to back up a Rooted Stock Nandroid of my phone so that if I ran into problems and my sd card got wiped, I'd still be able to get to it.
FYI - Amazon accounts get 5 GB free and their file size limit is 2 GB. Drop Box file size limit is 300 MB. So if you do need cloud storage with bigger file size, those are some other good options.
Just did this now on my SGSS4G. Thanks!
UPDATE! FREE 50gig for all users- NO BUILD.prop edits.
Hey, they have a new promotion going on. You log into Box from ANY android device (tablet or phone) and your account (preexisting or new) is upgraded to 50gig.
For my buddies that have iPhone i just let them log in from my phone and bam!
"Congratulations, Your account has be upgraded to 50Gig"
The offer ends March 23.
And I guess after that we can go back to build.prop edits.
Yep, live on any xperia handset now. Says ended december 31 2012 though. So thats this year .-.?
Gonna try..
Yep, upgraded to 50gb storage
Box.com 50gb
It seems that they updated this offer until march 23rd 2012! I did it a few days ago and the 50gb for life is simply crazy!
worked great thanks for the tip. Its appreciated!

I have 2 others 3rd party file manager and all of them is using full network access. I think it is because they using bluetooth or wifi direct when we share files. Correct me if im wrong

This is because you can't load ads without network access.

Came from the Portal, very nice layout! I like the indexing. It isn't detecting my external sd though, and want to know how I can help. I own a legacy device the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze, running CM11 Official. What can I do to help?

I am currently using vold.fstab located in /system/etc/, do you have file similar or in another location so that I can check various mount paths? This would be the first step. Thanks!

That, and ads need network access as well.
Make a paid version then. Im tired of every app requesting full network access. Its completely unnecessary. At what point did we as a community accept this as the norm?
I would rather you release a free version with less functionality then a free version with ads that requires full internet access. If the app turns out to be usefull then charge a buck or two and people will gladly pay, myself included.

It is simple, as much you want to believe people can make money on android without ads, you are mistaken. Regardless of how well the app is, people are still not going to pay for it. If you find my app doing something it shouldn't, then report it. Thank you for at least looking at the app. I am sorry that it just for you. Is there anything else I could do to appease without removing the ads? There are only two ways to make money on android, people paying for them, and people using ads. Sadly, more money is still made on ads and not enough is made in paid versions. My app doesn't use the internet unless its the free version for ads. I can't thank you enough for the response. Have a great day.
I will think about what you have suggested and maybe I will remove ads and add in more pro functions. Anything you have in mind that would make this better then?

thanks for a very useful app. Note that it does not show on the play store, even when I search the store for 'fearch'. There is another app called fearch that appears to be something completely different.
in any case, I was able to download the apk and install it. but the link to the pro version launches the play store with an 'item not found' message.
Dead?
Can you explain why this app isn't available on Google Play anymore and why your website isn't working?
Is this Project dead?
