Broken Tf101 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The transformer took a spill and the screen now has a hole in it and the internals are visible. The screen turns on but doesn't work. My best betc fixing it myself or sending it to Asus. I need the digitilizer and what else?

I can contribute pretty much everything but the digitizer glass. Just hit me a pm of what you need.
I'll be honest. You're not going to find the digitizer anywhere. The only way to get a digitizer is you have to order them at least 10 at a time from the manufacturer (corning). I haven't figured out who decided to not let the digitizer be in the wild for regular joes like you and I.
Here is my honest opinion. Put your TF on ebay as an as-is item. A TF with broken glass these days will go for $180 or so. Usually, it's the salvagers who will be bidding. They will take them apart and resell the pieces, making a small profit.

[Q] Inspire Screen Replace

Long story short... I dropped it from less then a foot height onto the ground by accident. The way it hit caused spider-cracks on the screen in the left lower corner. I'd take a picture but it doesn't really matter all that much. It only looks like the top layer got hit and it's not that deep or bad off but still takes up a fair enough portion of the screen. But every morning the cracks increase for some reason, perhaps pressure.
Looking for cheap options to replace it. Do I need a digitizer or just S-LCD screen? I'll do it myself if someone has a guide to replace it.

Search for the Desire HD howto... its a very complex fix even for just a screen... i just sent mine off to HTC.. because it was more pain to fix it than to spend the extra 60$ to have HTC fix it and warrenty it for 90days... they replace the lcd/digitizer, housing and everything else took them 4 days to do it and ship it back to me

It only cost 60$ to be repaired?! I thought it'd be like $300+ to have it replaced. If it's only $60 dollars I'll pay it

[Q] Will replacing my digitizer fix my issue?

So, while I love my tbolt, it seems to be a 'bad luck' phone. It has been for a swim in Oneida Lake, and now it seems it needs coffee as well. Yup, spilled a half cup of pretty good coffee on my beloved tb.
anyway, the digitizer does not work great. if I want to use any part of the right side of the keyboard, I have to go into landscape mode as it just does not respond, or gives me the wrong keys. swiping is impossible and I got so used to using it, it almost hurts.
Also, there is a discoloration on my screen which I only notice when on a white screen, but it is annoying. will a new digitizer fix that too?
So, my question is, will replacing the digitizer with one from ebay, (cgi.ebay.com/touch-screen-digitizer-glass-Verizon-HTC-Thunderbolt-/170646574944?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bb541760[/url]) will that fix my issue?
any thoughts?
<not sure if my link will come through, so if not, I just searched ebay for tbolt parts and found a few 'new' oem digitizers from around $20 up to $50 or so. some with the right sized torque screw drivers>
any input would be very appreciated.
thanks for looking!
I would probably replace the lcd and the digitizer, chances are that both have damage.

Worth buying an gs3 w/ broken screen?

I have found a craigslist post in my area saying there letting go there phone for $250. In the post they continue to say that only the screen is cracked. A picture they posted shows the phone on with cracks on the screen.
I have emailed them and they replied that if it doesn't sale they will just repair it, because it only cost $18 (this concerns me, why not just repair on such an expensive phone)
My questions: is it worth it?? Also what questions do you think I should ask? And if I meet them in person what should I look for?
Thanks in advanced xda folks!

My friend cracked the glass on his and the screen won't even turn on. I called the phone and it rang but the screen wouldn't light up and the digitizer wouldn't register touches. So I'd stay away.
I have seen replacement screens on eBay for $20 or so, but I believe that the digitizers are glued to the screen.
If you can't cleanly separate the two, you're probably in for the cost of a replacement combo ... about $200.
Still cheaper than a new one outright ...

I've seen replacement screens on ebay for maybe $15-20 but to replace it seems rather difficult: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_70-W9JjVjg&feature=relmfu.
It's really up to you whether it's worth it or not. If you're up for the challenge of replacing the screen (or if you think you can live with the crack, you didn't mention how bad it is) then go for it. If not, I'd probably stay away as this doesn't exactly seem like an easy fix.
Try lowering his price to 200$ then send it in to Samsung they will charge about 190$ to replace it. The digitizer is glued to glass and u won't be able to separate and put on new glass.

It may not be broken but its all one unit.. my guess is they already know this or they would have gotten it fixed themselves
Replacement screens are about 18-20 but replacing them is very difficult because of the adhesive that bonds them... Dont't buy it.. you would have to buy a new bezel with the screen and digitizer attatched to it. about 200-250 itself..A shop around me does it but they said it would be 300 plus labor..
If you can get it at a decent price and can replace the screen cheaply then i would say go for it.

Where did u get that quote I have a broken gs3 and best option is Samsung 180 shipped and returned. OP did the phone need bezel replaced? Here is my damaged phone not one scratch on bezel landed perfectly flat and the SGP case doesn't offer much protection over the screen its almost flush. If it was under or roughly 160-180 plus 180 screen replacement sub 400 gs3 good price.

I live in the Twin cities area of Minnesota... Its a local shop that does all kinds of phones.. But that's what they quoted me.. since it was a such a new phone

[Q]Replacement Bezel

Where exactly can I order a new bezel from? I don't know how but today when I got home I noticed the sdcard popped out and wouldn't go in correctly. I have the tablet in a leather case for a Toshiba tablet, so I didn't notice the bezel was messed up until I took it out of the case to check out why the sdcard was not fitting in. It apparently was dropped on the corner and really bent it up. Where exactly can I get a replacement bezel from or does anybody know how much it would take to RMA? I'm in Mississippi, USA.

That would be user inflicted damage which means you would have to pay for repair.
http://www.asusparts.eu/index.php?cPath=66920_222155_222301_222308
There is this store which was linked in another thread (supposedly mentioned by asus support)
But that price looks kind of expensive, you might do better buying a non working tablet from ebay.
Around $75 with shipping. Ill have to check around at a non working tablet. Maybe I could even part it out for cost of shipping to users here. Thanks.

What are my options here? Cracked digitizer but NOT cracked screen...

First off, I love my note 3. This phone is so close to perfect I can't bear the fact that I broke it somehow.
After having no case/screen protector since I got this phone.. sometime end of summer.. I bought my first case off of amazon. I received it YESTERDAY.. today.. while it was in the case, in my back pack (in a nice "protective" pouch that is lined with soft cloth) somehow it cracked the lcd screen (or digitizer) but the GLASS IS NOT CRACKED. Infact there's no physical damage to the phone at all, no dents or scratches anywhere on the phone at all, even looking at the screen under a light. Nothing on the glass.
SO I'm heart broken. It's my secondary phone so I have no insurance on it.
What would you do ? It's a sprint phone.. black.
You have to replace your complete screen.
It's called a full assembly.
You can't just replace you lcd alone.
They cost around $200.
Try parts4repair.com
I repair alot of phones and this site always has the best quality.

There's no damage at all, not even a slight scratch. I'm actually a little curious how it happened.
So it can really be some fault in phone that'll go under warranty have you tried resetting phone if it's some software fault / bug?

Yes.. you can see the top third of the screen for a minute or two, then it goes black/digital looking (8 bit graphics) and then eventually joins the bottom of the screen - being broken.

Actually - I looked at it under the light, if you hold it up to your eye level you can see a cracked digitizer

if there is no obvious damage such as a mark where is bounced on the ground or a crushed screen, i'd warranty it.
Isn't the Note a bit large to place in your back pocket?

I had the same thing happen, although it happened after someone else dropped the phone.
I ended up buying a new front assembly for the phone for about $237. It was the only seller that affirmatively listed the display as AMOLED. The repair was pretty straightforward and it works well now

I decided to go the honest route.
Handed her the phone saying that I dropped it, don't have insurance, can't get it anymore because it's been too long and asked if there was anything that could be done.
She smiled, said "Finally someone is honest, let me see what I can do"
Turns out they had a broken Note3 in the back with a good digitizer and screen.
Charged me 75 bucks, signed me up for insurance (I'm months outside the 30 day window) and sent me on my way.
Sure it's not free, but for 75 bucks and I don't have to mess with it and I kept my integrity, I'm happy!

I didn't drop it, but someone else did. So the warranty was gone.
The parts for the repair cost $237, i think, and was totally doable.

you actually can replace just the screen - there is a youtube video of a guy doing it.
However, when I did it, it was actually cheaper to buy the entire assembly...not to mention much easier.
