[POLL] What's your favorite ROM?

Hy guys, I'm new to the Transformer World, but I have already flashed all the custom roms for it. I'm curious to know what, in your opinion, is the best ROM for the Trasformer

Prime.
I'm excited to see what open source ICS will do for the dev community of our TFs

I've only used Prime. One of my prime reasons were it being fairly close to stock, now it is more ICS like but soon stock should be ICS anyway. I want stability and a miantained ROM - Roach's work is good in my books.

i use revolution HD its stable fast and great battery life. also they keep maintaining it

So far massively impressed with the battery life I am getting from Prime compared to stock.

Even though these "best rom" polls are all based on peoples personal preference, occasionally someone will post pretty good reasons for choosing one rom over stock or another rom. I was using Prime for a while and was really happy with it. I'm not sure what happened but for some reason practically every app I downloaded after the 2.0.4 release would FC on me the second I tried to launch it. Older apps worked fine. Eventually I went through the process of unrooting and going back to bone stock/then reroot and just installed CWM. So far so good. All apps work great, no FC's. Battery life is a little shorter than it was with Prime but not significantly shorter (read as maybe a half a day difference over a 3 or 4 day span between charging). The main thing I liked with Prime that's a pain with the stock rom is getting to Recovery. Although now I have the boot to recovery for transformer app, it's not a big deal. There's a few more perks with the custom roms but they didn't really benefit me.

I am using and really liking the Revolver ROM, along with it's Revolver Parts cohort. I have tried Revolution HD and liked it pretty well and was using Prime for a bit. I, too, had some issues creep up with Prime which caused me to take a look at Revolver. Revolver has so far been the best experience for me. I am using a B6O version tablet and dock.

+1 on Revolver!! Try the Prime kernel to overclock. It's a great performer with Revolver.
EDIT: Just purchased Revolver Parts Elite to support the developer. BTW, the Prime kernel is really good!!

I tried both the latest Prime kernel direct from the Prime thread and the one through Revolver parts. My Transformer didn't like either too much. Once, it came back with boot loop and the Revolver one kept FC certain apps. I'm using the Clemsyn-Blades v22 kernel and it works quite well on my device. Rveolver's default kernel works real well also.

I like Revolver's OTA updates, but I actually use Prime because I had more mishaps with Revolver (during the two week period I switched to it, like in August or September). You ought to put up dual-booting with Ubuntu as well! I want to see how many do that.

I use revolver because i like the OTA updates and it seems pretty smooth

B60. I have tried revolution, prime, and revolver. All with the kernels they provided.
Prime - better battery life over stock BUT it started to lag over a period of about two weeks for no apparent reason. I made no changes to the system, nor did i install or remove any apps. Tried clearing everything but it would still creep up on me.
Revolution HD - Great on both the TF and EVO 3D. Stock as can be with minor tweaks and it gets updated regularly. no complaints
Revolver - Stock with the best battery life and has not slowed down on me one bit(month+ of rape level use). Revolver parts is a GREAT feature also. You can change kernels, themes, tweaks, etc quickly from an app AND you get notified about updates(which are plentiful).
It IS all about preference but this is just my personal experience.

I like to stick with stock - for me this means less mucking about and more stable use.

For me it´s Revolver. To me it works just as fine as Prime!, but the Revolver Parts app makes it a real winner!

Have to admit that Revolver parts is pretty freaking awesome. I had trouble getting it to work at first, it woud freeze or not update anything and stay at 0% but it's pretty bad ass. It's cool that you can just downoad kernals and flash things right there. So my top 2 are Revolver, and prime.
Prime is faster though. My experience on both transformer I had. Benchmarks (Antutu, Linpack) and real life speed too. But they're both great. Revolution is also good too, it's underrated. It's fast as Prime actually but I didn't use it because it didn't have the latest Asus update. But now (nov 17) it looks like 2.2.0 is out so I might give it a shot.

I've always been skeptical of speed claims for custom ROMs, and I can't see what else makes the TF significantly more enjoyable... so I stick with stock. It works great for me, and I don't see what a custom ROM would add to my enjoyment... plus I don't have to mess flashing and reflashing...

Being able to remove item from recent app list is the most important reason I switched from ARHD to Revolver.

That is a matter of opinion, you can't really ask anyone that. They all have their key areas they focus on.

Try a few. Gives you practise flashing. I only just got my tf as well - I've tried Prime and am now a currently on revolution hd. Also worth looking at revolver and krakd.

I recommend prime. I used it for a couple months and it was the smoothest and most stable. I tried out android HD and ran into some issues (browser crashed mostly) and now I'm testing out revolver.

its all about user preference. Try them all and see which one fits your needs. I flashed revolver as my first rom and haven't flashed any other one because i didnt need to.

yeah just check em out all of them are better than stock in my opinion ive tried prime revovler and revolution and all of were smooth some roms have different features. that why its best to try em all cuz you might like one set of features more than another. lways take a backup of your stock rom and leave it right on thr microsd and you can always get back if you have a problemm.

same here. revolver is immaculate.

I am using Revolver. It has a ton of features built in. This ROM in conjunction with Revolver Parts is really everything you need. JMO.

I've been using krakd and have been happy but my tf just started to discharge overnight so I have some looking in to do.

I'm currently on Revolver. The one feature that keeps me coming back to this rom; the force time-out of wifi. I love not having to use a secondary app (auto-airplane) in order to auto-disconnect from wifi to conserve battery life. I also love being able to kill the apps by using the app-switch button. Not the best battery life with this rom (that goes to revolution HD in my experience).
I was also a big fan of prime for a while, but it kind of fell behind with the updates. While I haven't had any issues with revolver, Prime just felt the most stable. I also loved the boot animation.
I had the best battery life with Revolution HD, but I would get occasional lockups with this rom. Probably had something to do with the undervolt settings of the custom kernal. The settings just didn't agree with my transformer.
I can't comment on Krakd. I installed it and only played around with it briefly before flashing something else.

I've been using on a daily basis every rom out there. I am now back to the stock rom. Probably because I'm preparing for ICS LOL.

Can anyone give me a rundown of what features Krakd is missing that Revolver has (if any)? I did try revolver, but wasn't too impressed initially, but I was flashing like crazy and didn't do a lot of exploring within each rom, really tested for stability and speed and (I know how this sounds) boot animation (yes, I know I can change it...), I was on Prime for a while, but then decided to try Krakd and got stuck with it (in a good way). Should I be considering giving revolver another look?

I've tested all ROM's but i've got back to prime again. Prime is very stable, it as quick controls build in, you don't need to install ICS themes (it comes already with it), and i love the startup!
The others are very good Rom's but i perfere this one. (it is really a question of preference).
One thing that i you can't left out on any ROM is the AWD EX launcher... It makes every transformer completely smooth like an Ipad. IT'S A MUST HAVE!

I think your gona like it!

I prefer Revolver after trying other ROMs because I had strange problems on Prime like the function keys on my keyboard stop working andwould require reboot as well as search not working anywhere unless I used the search key.
Revolver also has so many optional customisations/installble apps as well as kernels and with Revolver parts all of this is automated.
Gnufabio is extremely active in multiple forums and also has monetary incentive set up with Revolver Parts having a donate and an Elite version. I feel like he is more ambitious about quality.

I run Revolver and am incredibly happy with it. I haven't tried any of the other ROMs here, but they are all almost the same, so just try some out and figure out which one works best for you.

Besides boot animations and themes, many of the ROMs are the same. Battery life is an opinion base topic. Some would say they have the best battery life is with Revolver, then some would argue that Prime has the best, in other words it's all preference. Just make sure you choose the right Kernel, as the Kernel usually is the key component. Some ROMs run "OK" at first but if you flash a different Kernel, it could definitely make a world of a difference (Good or Bad).

Mine's on Android Revolution HD. The only ROM I have tried. Battery drains fast though.

Just wondering what the advantage is of all these AOSP Roms available in the developer section?
Are these better for the developers or the users?
I ask because it seems these ROMs dont support things like the dock, asus keyboard, don't have those nice Asus apps or google apps.
I know I can flash gapps but no idea about the rest..
I flashed an AOSP a while ago and found so many things just didnt work so I avoid them now...
It would be good if they could mention in the title if their ROM is AOSP or not.
Maybe I got this all wrong and you're welcome to educate me

AOSP is from android. its the cleanest possible rom u can ever find. its like a fish u just caught and cooked with just a pinch of salt only. probably u wont experience lag and alot of bloatware taken off. asus apps abd google apps you have to dl urself. i find that troublesome too. HAHA! using a custom rom is different tho. that depends on how the dev develop it. if ur happy with stock then stick with it man.

GT-i9001-Cranium rc8 but switching to broodRom with skyhigh kernel

I would say stick with custom stock at the moment like revolver or frozn but that's just my preference after trying the aosp roms.
Some like aosp better but for me I will wait awhile until there completely stable before I give them a decent try.

Ok well not so much stability now I guess but bugs there is still a difference I just feel aosp on the transformer is a bit to young on my gt540 I love aosp its rock solid works and has awesome customization's etc
Like I said maybe after some time but for now I say stock custom is best

I used Asus' official ICS for about 15 minutes before I decided it was ugly and thrown together quickly.. also comes with a bunch of Asus garbage files in the system partition and a bunch of crappy apps i never use.
I tried EOS and was happy. Now at build #21 its fast, its stable, its got some nice customizations but is otherwise bone stock AOSP ICS, like a Nexus device has.
I also tried AOKP and while I could prefer it in the long run as it is a very slick ROM, but it just doesnt seem as snappy and smooth as EOS at this time.

Does EOS still have the minor lag when scrolling home screens? It's barely perceivable but enough to annoy someone like me. The build I tried was 18 or 19.

I was dissatisfied with CM9. The one that I have been using most has been Android Revolution HD 3.1.0 (GPS locks quick, WiFi stable, dock works). Just recently I have dropped FROZN on my TF101 but have been unable to successfully transfer my APK's to it using APK Batch Installer During the process I receive a segmentation fault. So far it has been only with that ROM that I have had this issue with. Aside from that FROZN ROM is fast!! Can't say much about battery life seeing how I just started using it.

Also I'm using last revolution HD with msticninja'kernel and it's very very stable and fast but it's also my first cooked rom (I just bought my TF101 a month ago). Why are you dissatisfied with CM9? Frozn is faster than CM9 and revolution?

These custom ROMS vary in benchmarks but there really is no perceivable difference in speed with normal usage. They are all faster and more optimized than the stock Asus ICS.

What differentiates an Asus ROM?

I keep hearing about how when you pick a ROM, you need to decide on either vanilla ICS or the Asus flavor.
What things does the Asus ROMs have that Megatron and AOKP doesn't? Is it just the couple widgets/apps/wallpapers that you can download separately anyway or is there more to it?

The Asus based ROMs (I know of the two big ones, Revolver and Revolution HD) don't offer as many extras as the other ROMs that have e.g. a CM9 base. They may be a bit more stable, and they are not really different from the stock ROM (at least in terms of look and feel). What is unique: they have the original Asus customized settings, so they allow to Mao the mouse buttons, and have the extended notification area (both not present in stock ICS ROMs).
If you want to have the best of both worlds, I'd recommend the Megatron ROM which has a great set of nice options and tweaks (more than the standard Cyanogenmod tweaks), and also let you choose between ICS and Asus virtual buttons, and give you the Asus keyboard and the option to install Polaris Office, supernote, their live wallpaper and widgets...).

I loaded Revolver on mine and at first appearance, it looks basically the same. But as you use it, everything is smoother and faster. I went one step further and loaded a custom kernel by Guevor which made it smoother and faster yet. These 2 together have completely changed how I view & use my TF. Some people have had good results just by loading a custom kernel on the stock rom too. I would do a bit of reading through the forum to see what might work for you. Not every one has had good success when going the custom route, so do some digging and try to get all your questions answered before you start hacking.

You just lose a few ASUS customized settings, but you gain the AOSP settings, I like AOSP better, but some just don't like the feel:
E.G. Sense vs TouchWiz vs AOSP vs ??? vs Profit

Gummy ROM (nightlies) is my favorite AOSP rom so far. It's an AOSP rom with some features from CM9, some from AOKP, some of their own and some Asus stuff. Its the best of all the worlds.

My 2 chosen roms are:
Asus based: Frozn by Jcarrz1 - theres a couple of little bugs and although its not fully completed, combine it with one of the overclock kernels and the speed is on a different level.
I posted up how to set it up in the Frozn thread. Hopefully Jcarrz is still working on Frozn as im sure if it turns out like Krakd then it will be sublime!. If its too much hassle then - Revolver for sure.
Aosp / Aokp: No question it would have to be Gummy nightly. Browsing speed is much faster imo than any of the TF roms, nice tweeks, the devs baked in some themes, stable.....it really is a must try. You also get the delight of the nyam cat but i wont spoil it for you. All i will say is you can switch it off in Gummy settings :victory:
Good for flashaholics with it getting almost nightly updates.
Everyones different and theres a rom for everyone.
Just make sure your backed up and read about how to get out of a pickle. Otherwise just give them all a go and see what you like.:good:

You may need to flash one of the Asus ones to get any updated firmware for the keyboard. I.m not sure the aosp ones will do that.

Gummy has my attention. Does each update require a full wipe or just cache and dalvik? I do not want to have to do full wipes all the time.
I know I will most likely need to try all of these and see what I like most, but I'd prefer to have a good base to start from.
I pretty much only surf the web, get email, stupid stuff like that. Not really much for games outside of Draw Something, Hanging with Friends. Looking for a ROM that is "pretty" or "flashy". Needs to look good, flow quickly and smoothly when I use it, and is customizable so I can make it the way I want.

with nightlies i think just wiping dalvik and cache will be fine
here is another rom to check out AOKPCB
looks really fancy basically is AOKP but themed. Haven't tried it yet though.
Im also in a situation on which rom to just stick with. Right now im using revolver because its based on stock firmware but i'm missing some AOSP. Was running Megatron a while back for a long time but i need a rom that gets updated every now and then.

Kinda feels like Megatron is laggier than the Asus ROMs. Anyone else find this? I did do a full wipe. Also, is there a way to increase the auto brightness value? It is awfully dim.
Otherwise, it is a great mix to get really everything that both variants have to offer. Really only missing the pretty power screen but everything else (and more) is there.
One hour later edit: This ROM is definitely laggy. I press to go into the menu and it's jerky. Really everything is... jerky. Ran a benchmark and had a good score (3200+) but the navigation throughout isn't fluid.

I have a B70 running Steel Droid v2. It's an AOKP based rom and I'm not having any lag issues. It might not necessarily be a hardware thing. Have you tried a custom kernel that you can overclock? I keep it oc'd at 1200MHz because I, personally, haven't seen a noticeable difference when I set it at a higher frequency.

New observation
I tried both Harmony v3 for aosp and Guevor 22.6 and get the same issues. I tried the new aokp Milestone 6 with both guevor 22.6 for aokp and Harmony aosp v3 but still get bad framerates in many games. One new observation from tonight: In the game "Siege Hero", if the option "Stretch to fill screen" is selected, I get bad framerates but great graphics. If I select "Zoom to fill screen", graphics are low res but everything is very fluid. This does not happen on asus based roms.
Another example of what I am getting is the game "Extreme skater" that does not offer compatibility choices, probably because it supports native resolution, but rarely stays fluid on aokp/cm9/aosp but runs great on asus based roms.
It looks like some other users are getting the same problems but we are not a lot complaining.
Any ideas?

Why do people install CM or other non-stock based ROMs

This is something that has always been bugging me,
Why do people install all these custom non-stock based roms like CM or Baked Black Beans or Paranoidandroid ?
I do understand the reason to install something like CleanROM that is stock-based, just to improve tablet's performance. But why a non-stock based rom ?
If I open up CM thread, I see that there is a lot of stuff that doesn't properly work in that ROM. What is the advantage of having it then ?

It's just a personal preference for some (I prefer stock-based myself). There are a lot more configuration options in the CM10-based ROM's (but at the some time, you lose other options that are available in stock).
Like I said, it's just something that some users prefer. It's good to have options!
In my opinion, the Transformer series of devices are just better off with stock since they have so many Transformer-specific functions. But, with a "normal" tablet, CM10 is actually a very good option...

Non stock based ROMs can have a newer android version, more options, more features, higher customability, etc.
And having a 'completely different' ROM can give the feeling of owning a new phone which is nice too.

not uncommon to have a smaller footprint, which gives more memory. Sometimes there stuff only available on AOSP that isn't compatible with stock; usually it's a kernel issue.
Personally, I prefer CM over stock. Right now, since it's still early and some items I want are not working, I can wait. There's nothing must have on CM for me right now. Personally, I would love to have something like Boot Manager so I can have multiple ROMs.

Well there isn't that much that is missing in CM10 compared to stock as ASUS made a great decision in keeping the stock ROM as close to AOSP as they could to allow for faster updates. ASOP tend to get updates faster and performance usually is increased compared to stock. Clean ROM is faster right now but it is likely only a matter of time for CM to catch up and surpass it. I'm also waiting for it to become a little more stable before I switch. If you get bored one day, check out out for yourself to see if you like it or not.

Like @jtrosky said, it really comes down to personal preference. I prefer the AOSP roms because I think they perform better for what I use my TF700 for, but that is my opinion and a lot of people would disagree. You do have to remember when you read people complaining in the CM10 thread about things not working that it is very much a work in progress for this device.
I agree that unlocked stock and stock-based roms benchmark better than AOSP roms, but I really think ASUS has built their rom so it performs well in these types of tests (lets face it, all serious reviews of any device contain benchmark data). I think some would agree that real world testing shows that stock (even CleanROM) is more laggy than ASOP roms though. Again, this is my personal opinion and my experience of this device.
If you start a thread like this you are going to get a load of conflicting views. The only way to find out which is best is to do a bit of your own testing and see what works best for you. Happy flashing

Cleanrom + data2sd + OC kernel makes this tablet fly and the stock rom (on which cleanrom is based) guarantees that all the tablet's features workfine.
To be honest i dont see a reason for a non-stock bsed rom.

To be honest i dont see a reason for a non-stock bsed rom.

Can you watch your movies or play games on fullscreen (i mean real fullscreen with no status bar) with stock rom? I guess not.
Can use themes on stock rom? I guess not
I could go on and on about this but like others said it's just a matter of taste and if you don't see a point to use custom roms just stick with the stock.

Cleanrom + data2sd + OC kernel makes this tablet fly and the stock rom (on which cleanrom is based) guarantees that all the tablet's features workfine.

It's the difference between driving a stock car, or adding rims, tricking out the stereo, and tinting the windows - it's not for everyone, but some can't live any other way...
