Miui music player problems - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I'm just trying to update my miui music player with the new ICS theme.. although it would seem that developers are releasing them as stand alone .apk's rather than a theme - this is fine if you don't have miui rom with the miui player installed as a system app.
But if you run a miui rom and have it installed as a system app the new ics miui music .apk wont install as it can't remove the original system app...
I've tried removing the original miui music system app with titanium backup and it boots into recovery, but signature verification fails when I disable this verification I have to boot back up to tell titanium to remove the system apk then it goes back to recovery and signature verification is reenabled by default - so stuck in a catch 22.
My whole phone is ics theme apart from the miui music.. can anyone advise what I can do to install the miui music ics themed apk?
Thanks guys.

delete original one(first of all, back up it somewhere) and push apk manually to system/app

[Q] Help installing default applications on DX (rooted)

I just rooted my droid x and themed it using rom manager and boot strapper. I had all my files backed up on titanium backup but they arn't installing. I lost my google maps, my original text messaging app, my basic widgets etc. I downloaded a file with all of the default apps and I was wondering if I could install them from recovery mode? or some other way?

is there a way to install the honeycomb music player on stock nexus s

i tried searching the forum, but search is unavailable right now. anyway, i saw that people were able to install the honeycomb music player on the nexus s with CM7 and were able to do the cloud sync. I would like to do this on my stock nexus s as well. Is it possible? can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks
damn, my bad. i thought i was posting this in question forum. mod please move
I have been trying to do this with no luck. Keep getting application not installed error..
I don't think it is possible without rooting..
same problem. install unsuccessful. if i root the phone, install the honeycomb player, will i still get the stock OTA updates when they come out
I had it working on my stock Nexus S before I installed CM7. I was rooted though
Copy the Honeycomb apk to your phone.
*Backup the original music.apk before attempting this*
Use a file explorer with root access and mount it with R/W access and delete the original music.apk from system/app
reboot device.
Find the honeycomb music apk via file manager and install.
Note : Rooting does not affect OTA updates, nor will installing any software (.apk) OTA updates are lost when you install custom rom's

No, you will not. All of your upgrades will come from the devs supporting the ROM you are on. Or you will have to flash each update separately when they are available.

No rooting will not make him loose OTA updates.
As long as you are on the STOCK ROM you will continue to receive OTA updates no matter what .apk's you install, so installing the honeycomb music apk will not affect anything.
You loose your ability to receive OTA updates when you switch to a custom rom (CM7, etc.) This is because your installing non- original google software onto your phone.
if I'm not mistaken, the cloud sync function is only available in CM7, it does not work in the stock ROM (at least I tried once and it did not work).
I have CM7 RC2 installed and was able to install the Honeycomb music player as well. Strangely it does not install itself on top of the Gingerbread Music app, they exist in parallel.
Put honeycomb player in system/app change permissions to match other apps. Reboot install honeycomb player.apk overwrite normal music player and your done. You can always uninstall and go back to normal.

the only reason i want this music player is for the cloud sync feature. can anyone confirm if it works with stock rom?

[APP] Newest MIUI Music .apk (4/11/11)

Hey here's a link to another thread with the newest MIUI Music .apk (4/11/11)
Here
Only issue I've noticed is when you go into the settings, if you try to scroll down to see "Filter files", it force closes the app. Hopefully someone can come up with a fix, but everything else seems to work so, enjoy! - zmag
(P.S. Show me some love and hit the THANKS button!)
Cool stuff I'm running it now with CM7 Final. I've always liked the MIUI music app.

awesome, thanks. Now how do I remove the other one? CM7
Anyone know where there is an installable apk?
alaman68: you can remove the original cm7 music .apk from system/app with Root Explorer (or a similar app to access the system files...) or you can move it to the system folder or SD card in case you want it again.
nhutpham: as far as I know, you can NOT just click on the .apk and "Install" it. The link I posted has pretty specific directions to install it with Root Explorer. Just make sure you set the permissions like in the pic before you reboot, or it won't show up in the app drawer.
If you're still having trouble lemme know. - zmag
Pushed it to /system/app on my Sense ROM and it doesn't show up in the app drawer. Did a hot restart and a full reboot. No app icon and no widget.
I have tried the exact instructions twice, but the app didn't appear in the app drawer either time. I'm on a sense based rom using Launcher Pro, MIUI music hasn't been previously installed on the current rom I'm using.
The previous MIUI apk's have been installable, I might just wait till another one shows up.
hey, thanks again. I'm getting weird force close when I open the settings and try to scroll down to search file size. Does anyone have any idea how the change these parameters?
Wont work for me either... followed the instructions to a tee
flashable miui music...
for those having installation troubles, here is an update.zip

Thx magnus your the man
Works great for me, other than the FC bug when you scroll down in settings. Installed with Root Explorer.
Thanks for this.

I am not sure, but I think I am just having bad luck. It crashes every time I go into the settings (as soon as I hit the button). I had to reboot just to get it out of notification bar.
Well, to the people getting force closes in the settings: I did state that in my original post lol... but yeah, not a huge deal imo. I think the coding for Filter Files (where if you try to display that section in the settings, it force closes) because its codependency relies on a MIUI-specific library. I am running this on CM7 Final, and everything works ok except that section of the settings.
And to the best of my knowledge, MIUI is built on Gingerbread (2.3) and won't work on Sense based roms (sorry Sense users)
And big ups to Magnus for the update.zip for people who couldn't get it to install.

You are likely missing a necessary library to make them work. Capture the logcat and it will likely be fairly clear where it's crashing (unless the APKs are obfuscated).
Ok i will give that a try thx

[Q] (Q) Restore deleted Sense Music App

Hello All,
yesterday i installed Android Revolution HD 6.5.2 on my Sensation.
Overall, it was going well, except for the music player that was always force closed everytime i tried to play music.
My bad, i accidentally uninstalled the Music App from my phone. I tried to restore that, but i can't figure out how to do it.
Then i tried re-Flashing the ROM. Before reFlashing, i backed up all data on my phone using ClockworkMod. After i flashed the ROM, the music app returned. After that, i restored my phone using backup file i created in CWM before.
After Restoration complete, i cant find the music app just like when i deleted it.
I guess CWM backed up all the data and my phone's state including all the Apps and Sense UI.
Anyone can help me restore my music app?
thanks
A Clockwork mod backup totally backs up a rom, bit for bit. If you restore a CWM backup, you will lose any currently installed rom setup. Just take the Sense Music apk out of a rom.zip and drop it in /system/app using Root Explorer. Then reboot and you're probably set. Make sure you set the app's permissions to RW R R or it won't work (all doable in Root Explorer).
i have pulled two files from Rom.Zip :
com.htc.musicwidget.apk
htcmusicenhancer.apk
and put them in /system/app folder.
I Also set the permission too and then restarted my phone.
But i still cant find music app, did i miss another file?
