Which ICS ROM?

Yes, root and custom recovery is available. Search the development section and you will find it. As for the battery life. You can install a custom kernel, and usually get more battery life.

The official update that was in the .zip. I'm hating the battery on this.

Custom Kernel might help on battery drain issue. Matr1x kernel seems to be a good choice for this.
You can also check bedalus work on battery drain:

I am on CM9 Nightly 20120310 now and battery is amazing

[HELP] unable to use flash because your battery low

HTC sensation, stock rom 4.0.3... :crying:
I need mod "Lowered Camera Flash Threshold from 30% to 5%"
I speak English poorly, help me...!
Thank's
Are you saying this mod is draining your battery very fast? Have you tried buying a extended battery? This could help . Anker is a very good battery. Most people here have Anker. Mugen is also a great battery but it's expensive. Anker is only about 10 dollars. I do suggest you try it. It will make a big difference in battery life. With my stock battery I got only 3 hours before it was empty! Now my battery lasts 20 plus hours with heavy use . I do highly recommend you give Anker a try.
Sent from HTC sensation, soff, 3.33 firmware, viper Rom, sense 4.1,kernel- faux 10b6 , Mugen 3800 mah battery. Please press thanks if I helped in anyway.
The problem is that HTC made it so that you can't use the camera flash if the battery is lower than 30%. The solution would be to use a different kernel. Another camera app might also work.

No! you can't use in stock, becouse that kernel is just for ViperS 3.1.2 Sense 4+ JB and Revelation
You can try the overclocked kernel you can flash with stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424345 , before flashing make a nand backup and check the md5 sum first
"Camera flash: low battery limit decreased to 10%."

Exactly. This kernel supports jb roms only. Besides SebastianFM has a ton of great ics kernels. You need to look for those.
Happy to help.

[Q] Kernel to use with Wind P999 on Froyo 2.2?

Hi
I am with Wind Mobile and have gone back to the Froyo 2.2 rom which came originally installed on the phone due to GPS issues with all of the other roms.
I am actually pretty happy with the performance and stability except the amount the battery lasts as compared to other roms.
Could someone recommend a kernel I can use with the stock froyo rom to get maximum battery life without compromising on stability.
Thanks in advance

Yup, I thought you had to have root to flash other roms.
I just wanted to know people's experiences especially those who have used another kernel with Wind Stock Rom. Or if you know of a kernel which is stable with most roms and will likely increase the battery life? I have tried Trinity in the past with CM7 and it was pretty good... would that likely work?
Thanks

Well, some times depends on your phone sometimes it does not like some how kernels.
Try using Faux thats my first choice sorry devs but thats my chose, and if it gets laggy (slow)
Try using Trinity, thats my second chose, its pretty nice but like i said depends on your Device, its strange on how phones reacts on the custom kernels defferently .

[Q] Kernel and ROM

Hi, since I can't post in the Slimkat threat I open new one. I am very happy with Slimkat 4.4.2 except that the battery life is short. I did search but couldn't find answer to my question.
Is there a Kernel/s for Slimkat 4.4.2 build 3/4/5 that extends the battery life, and what kind of choices I have?
I will be very happy for your help.
I find the Devil kernel to work well with Slim, never having an issue with battery life.. I just recently did some testing on the build 5 and the battery life with both stock and Devil kernels was quite good (around 14-16hrs with 3+hrs of screen time)... There are few roms with this amount of battery life.. And to get a true representation of battery performance you need to have at least two full battery cycles.. There are other little tip/tricks to extend battery life a bit further, feel free to visit the link in my signature for some ideas on how your rom compares and for tips on battery life..
Hey that was quick Actually I did check out the CyanAOSP and sound interesting, but for now I will stay with Slim.
Just for information I compare the battery life with CM 4.3 and Slimrom 4.3. Using these ROMs the battery last 2 days for me. I do complete battery cycles after flash even if needed I use battery calibration app. I will check the tips from the link for sure. Just still not sure what is the appropriate Kernel/s for Slimkat 4.4.x. As far as I was reading not every kernel works on every Rom.

Thanks before.

Just need a bit of help, thanks.

I'm on cm12.1 15th may build because of the touch screen driver (i used to have touch issues) and the battery life of the rom is quite bad. i know the driver drains battery, but cm12.1 battery is bad anyway. is there any other roms that have the new driver? am i able to install the driver onto another rom? Thanks.

The driver is part of the kernel, not the ROM. This means every ROM can have it or removed, just by changing the kernel.

but its also the kernel that optimizes the battery isnt it? like if i had cm12.1 kernel on Euphoria it will have same battery?

It's not just the kernel alone, but yes, it has to do with the battery. The battery depends on the kernel config a customizations added into it.
