Loving the work that's been done here so far... but after downloading and installing not one, but two different 200+MB-sized roms listed as non-sense when they're really sense-based ROMS that have had sense elements stripped from them, can we be a little more definitive in the composure of these custom ROMs?
I need a TRULY non-sense ROM (vanilla based). Sense-based ROMs don't work with the WiiRemote Controller IME, and neither of these "non-sense" ROMs in this forum work with it, because they still lack the element that Vanilla android has but Sense ROMs exclude (can not recall the exact element but still).
I think it'd be reasonable to list Sense-stripped ROMs as "de-sensed" and truly non-sense ROMS (built off of Vanilla Android) "non-sense".
I admit, Most of you on here compiling these roms know a whole lot more about this than I do, so I could be mistaken about something (in which case I'll stand corrected). I'm just getting tired of taking the time that it does to download and install these seemingly gigantic ROMs (as I recall a truly Vanilla ROM is usually only 40-50MBs at most, not 200+) to find out they're not ultimately doing what I need them to.
One of, if not the utmost reason I've rooted my MyTouch4gS is to utilize the WiiRemoteController IME for use with the emulators. I might just have to wait until Cyanogenmod jumps on board with this phone to get a truly vanilla-based ROM ::shrugs:: who knows. If someone out there knows how to accomplish this, I anxiously await your efforts. Thanks =)
---edited my original post, I can see how the one instance of my use of the word "claim" might make the frustrations of my original post offend them, though no name calling or finger pointing was intended, my bad---
It looks like someone is trying to get his post count up. Lmfao. LEARN HOW TO READ THE TITLE OF OP. If you cant read thats NOT the devs fault. My title is clear as day. Weird how your the only one complaining of an issue thats not even an issue. I saw a commercial for hooked on phonics. Its on sell for 49.99 plus tax. Might be a great investment for you. Rather then bash developers for your own inability to read titles and ops I would get that book.

Truly AOSP-based ROMs will not come for a while. I'm not sure if someone has started a device tree for CM7 or not. It needs to be done otherwise.
No one will be "compiling" ROMs until the above is done. It's 7zipping all the way to the top until then!
Even when we do get AOSP based ROMs, don't expect them to work as well as Sense based ROMs for a LONG time. Even then, it may never be the same level of quality (even though it'll likely be a lot faster)

Thank you for your more civilized response. I did not intend to imply that you or undead made an error by any means. I apologise (to you, not him, if he had been a little more civilized I might be more remorseful) for any offense I may have brought to you. That was not my intent.
I only intended to bring stronger definition between senseless and AOSP. Which you've provided me and I now understand where I was wrong. It was my mistake, as I understood the concepts of building AOSP from the source and stripping a sense-based ROM, but did not previously realize that what I was looking for was an AOSP ROM built from source and not a sense-less ROM. Given your explanation, I agree and now understand what I previously did not comprehend.
And undead - What are you 12? I wasn't bashing anyone nor did I intend to. You clearly took my meaning completely wrong. I'm confused, it says you joined this community a month ago. Where do you get off trolling a member of this community who's been around here 2 years longer than you have? Cool your jets. Lets try and keep this place civilized and not act like children. If you misunderstand someone or think that someone's being offensive, please take an approach more similar to how computerkid handled the situation. It was simply a misunderstanding and, as such, did not require name calling or any of the absurdly superfluous (if you don't understand the meaning of that word, perhaps you should get some hooked on phonics) insults you've thrown my way. I'm not really going to designate any kind of response past this defense. I'm not trying to troll, these are merely the 2 cents I've earned after what you've just unnecessarily expressed. Chill out dude.

Thanks for the knowledge.
Sorry for posting in this forum, I posted it here because it was a request for any ROMs being posted here in the future, which seemed to bear some relevance until I stood corrected (which I do).
The only other time I've rooted a Sense-based phone was when I ended up rooting my MyTouch3G Slide months after I had owned it, when CM was already available for it. So I didn't previously realize what an endeavor it is to achieve what I'm waiting for.
Given the information I've obtained from this thread, it makes a lot of sense that it would take some time.
Mods please remove this crap out of the development thread. This users inability to read ops is the root cause of his issue and common sense woulda helped him resolve this ”issue” ! He also created a thread JUST LIKE THIS in my nonsense thread, computerkid23 tasteless venom thread, and in the general section of the mytouch 4g slide.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
So far the devs all seem pretty clear about how they just removed the Sense overlay/UI or some of the Sense / mySense elements and I also hope they continue to be as definitive; it doesn't seem like they're cliaming they're AOSP-based. Usually devs will post when a ROM is AOSP-based or CM7-based so you'll know what you're getting yourself into, and the devs thus far have done a respectable job of defining what they've done, which is for the most part, take the stock ROM and remove just about as much as possible to streamline things.

Wow youre a piece of work.
It was relevant in the development thread to start, as it was a request for future development (duh). two mere comments in other threads (that did pertain to the ROMs in particular, where this one pertains to future ROMs) is hardly cross-posting as youre acusing me of. And what post in the general thread are you even speaking of? Ive never even been in the general thread for this phone. Youre loosing your mind.
This thread however is clearly no longer relevant because it was based on a misunderstanding of what i was actually looking for. Again... How old are you? I swear my 3 year old nephew is better tempered than you are lol.

Ok guys enough already. Dev is not for requests or Question threads. I have moved this thread to General. Now as for the rudeness IT STOPS or you will be on the wrong side of a ban. Plan and simple. If you are looking for a certain aspect of a rom please do your research on the rom. If you dont see if something is supported ask the Dev about it. As for the thing you are looking for, if the source code is available then you can build one from source. But with the lack of things i see I am not sure if it is even released.

Can someone that has tried both of these ICS projects comment on how they differ and perform?
I'd like to upgrade to ICS, but would rather do so after reading a comparison.
TIA!
No, you have to make that decision on your own. This is a biased question that only you can answer.

How is it a biased question?
Surely someone could list the pros and cons of both options?
This is the logical way to choose things.
It is done for everything else (phones, cars, computers, etc), why not ICS builds?
That's a ridiculous position b-eock. raz123 wasn't asking which one was better. He was asking for comments and/or a comparison about how they operate, and what others' experiences have been with the two -- SO THAT he can make his decision on his own. He wasn't asking others to make the decision for him. Last I checked, requesting opinions and feedback of others wasn't inherently "biased". Telling raz123 that he isn't allowed to research and has to just try it out is like telling someone they're not allowed to read product reviews before making purchases.
Please stop trying so hard to be a backseat moderator and actually read the question instead of automatically spewing a canned response.

Any review will always contain a certain amount of subjectivity, regardless of the product. Yet, reviews exist for a reason, correct?
AFAIK, there is no review for either projects that lists the pros and cons of the project.
Unless I missed such a review, in which case, feel free to link me.
Opinions can be either subjective or objective. I fail to see how asking for opinions makes a question biased. It's a biased question if someone asks "in what ways are ROM X worse than ROM Y?" (as the asker would've obviously already made a judgement call), but that clearly isn't what happened here.
Why am I bothering to argue this point? Because you're shutting out a perfectly valid request for discussion. Sure, we can "search" and find another instance where you similarly shut the thread out. We can also look in the respective developer threads and see people complaining about their pet bug, but that doesn't make it a comparison between the two ROMs, and that doesn't make it indicative of the users' overall experiences with the ROMs as a whole.
And actually, no, this isn't an "opinion based" question (not that there's anything inherently wrong with opinions). Experiences -- unless fabricated or misinterpreted -- are fact; they happened, and the user didn't just "feel" like they happened.
SO. I think the thread has been sufficiently derailed already. Let's try to get it back on track with a real discussion.

Whatever man, let her close all the other questioning the difference between two roms threads then /s
To me, ICSSGS seemed a little less polished when I tried the Beta 2 compared to Build 13 on upwards for the teamhacksung port. The only thing that really got me about ICSSGS, was after 5 or so days it seemed to really slow down to where a reboot was needed. I'm not sure how the ICSSGS one does it, but it's annoying to me to have to reflash gapps with each new build of the hacksung port, I never had to do that with CM Nightlies so not sure why I do now, but it's really not that big of a deal. Anyways, thats my $.02, try them both out, they're both great!
I've run most of both ICS ROM's(Except the latest ICSSGS) from the start.
To me they are both very similar in performance, I feel THS is a bit better.
I'm not a HUGE fan of pure ASOP Rom's, I like having a little bit of customization, which I get with THS's ROM. I haven't been completely been following ICSSGS's thread since THS came out with Build 14. I was VERY happy with it, B14 was filling in all of the little quirks that I was not too happy with and didn't feel the need to get into ICSSGS's V3. Some folks have been having SOD issues with THS B14/15, I have not had any myself until I started messing with kernels.
Now I don't want to say that I was at all unhappy with ICSSGS's ROM, it's a really great ROM, but with my device(as we all know, each can be a bit different). I feel THS was doing it a little bit better for me.
Hope this info helps some

This is a 'Best ROM' thread, as such, they are always closed, because they always descend into nastiness.
These two ROMs, Superlite and Sky ICS seem to be the best alternatives for moving my Skyrocket to ICS. I'm not going to ask which to install, I know what you will tell me..…try them both.
I'm hoping I can get some opinion as to which is more stable, more likely to install well over my configuration without problems, which is being developed more regularly, which has more known bugs, stuff like that, battery life.
I have a 727R, that's the Rogers Skyrocket, with the latest CWM, the faux kernel, 2.6.35.14, v10m. The radio is i727UCLA3, and the ROM is UCLA3_2.3.6_rom.
I want to install with a ZIP file, without the leaked ICS via ODIN. Not sure if this matters.
So grateful to any advice.

They are both being developed regularly. Read through the threads and you will see development, bugs, and progression.
there are 100's of pages of threads from different periods in their respective developments. It's hard to keep straight what's old and what's current.
I'm looking for help, the same as I would give you if you asked. so please xcrazydx, if you have nothing of value to offer it's better you just don't waste your valuable time replying.
Its easy to try them out yourself. Everyone is different. Flash one, run it for a few days then flash the other.
PS. Don't be a jerk, and just go read for yourself. We don't owe you anything. Quit being lazy!!

Not as simple as you think. Over the last 2 weeks since the leak, there has been talk of Rogers not working, or having to install the leak first with Odin and then install a ZIP rom. Also worried about the radio with Rogers, I've heard problems with that.
So I'm nervous, and I'm looking for some help. No, you don't owe me anything. I try to help people here who I don't owe anything. It's just the decent thing to do. It's why we have discussion forums with places for questions. And how is it lazy by asking people to share experiences? Jeez, this place is turning ugly. Try to remember when you were new here.
The whole thing about it is, if you don't do the reading, you will most likely end up writing repeat questions because you didn't feel like doing the reading to fix any little issues you may have with a ROM. Reading first is like getting free experience.

You asked about 2 specific roms. If you don't have the time to read through some posts you shouldn't be here and you shouldn't be flashing anything at all. I help people all the time, but this is something you must do on your own. No reading = you asking stupid questions that have already been answered multiple times.
I gave you a courteous answer and explained they are both worked on regularly by the devs.
Which is not what I asked. Why don't you go away. I can say for certain you've turned me off this forum.
Jeff, I have read both threads completely. I don't understand why I can't ask a simple question here about experience with Rogers phones on these two ROMs coming from Gingerbread just to get confirmation that there are no major issues which were first reported when the leak came out.
And I don't understand why people who don't want to answer, feel they have to come her and criticize.
Didn't even ask about smooth ice by rem... Which i think is super awesome too... The long and short is this, all the roms are built from same base so not really any huge differences

I can give you my opinion if that would help. I had less problems with sky ics. None are perfect. But both are better than stock.

Hahaha, I tried to help. Without reading the threads of the roms in question one cannot make an educated decision on which one is best for your needs. I even answered one of his questions. I don't get what his problem with me is.
If u want an opinion. Sky ICS. Then remove more Bloat if you want and make it more "super lite" my "opinion" is Sean updates more often and listens what people want. But it is so easy to just flash both and give both roms a try and see what "you" think is better.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Both roms are based off the same ics leak so in that regard they are equally stable. Just install the from that has more of the features u want, because from a majority perspective both have been well received
I can't comment on Sky ICS but I've been using Superlite 5.0 for a while now and I'm very satisfied with it. It's very stable and relatively bugless for me. But to repeat what others have said, it's really down to personal preference. Both roms come from the same source, therefore stability wise there isn't going to be a major difference. If it helps, I used both sean and mhx's GB roms, and I preferred the latter, which was a big part of why I went with ICS Superlite in the first place.
I've happily owned a G2X for almost 7 months now, and have used a custom rom for essentially the entire time.
Prior to the G2X, i used the HTC HD2 - a Windows 6.5 phone that gained notoriety after having android ported to it through the hard work of developers.
However, one thing that I feel is truly missing from the development community here is what most HD2 devs did; that is, they disclosed the problems with their ROM in the first post of their threads.
So, rather than having to hunt through a 200+ page thread, not knowing what build people are referring to, in order to find out issues with a ROM, it would very much simplify the ROM selection process if devs would disclose known issues such as "non working camera" etc.
Obviously every issue cant be accounted for, but I think the big ones being posted would help clarify a lot of things.
Thoughts?
Edit:
For example, here's a link to one of tytung's HD2 roms (he's one of the more popular developers for the HD2):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
If you scroll down, you'll see he has a list of "working" and "not working" features.
Nobody has any interest in something like this?
Well the thing is all our rooms are based off stock,cm7, or cm9 in one way or another. So everyone knows of the known issues. If its a weird issue out of the norm its usually stated.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Reasoning above doesn't hold up, because each rom has things that are fixed or not fixed individually.
I'm not sure of the reasoning, and i guess different devs might have different reasons. Depending on their priorities and skill levels.
Of course if someone is cooking and theming and/or just vanilla compiling then maybe there's less reason (and perhaps more reason to deemphasize bugs?).
Anyways, i agree that an informative first post with a real change log and working and non working features is a very handy thing to have.

I don't think everyone knows the issues. In fact, if you're new to the community you certainly wont.
Stating the problems is what sparked a ton of competition in the HD2 dev community. The first guy to fix the camera, first guy to fix bluetooth powerdrain etc always got a ton of donations and a better rep. I just don't see that competition here at all.
I don't care about a custom bootloader image or some custom wallpapers. I care about the issues being fixed, and I would love to know which devs are the ones fixing them!

It really doesn't matter who fixed them, as long as they're fixed. It's not a competition over here. The devs here help each other, especially with ICS. If one of us has a fix for something, it's shared and we all get it. Majority of the people doing the reading that they're supposed to do know the issues that we have with this phone. It just comes down to, are you willing to read to get all of the facts?

Exactly. We don't do this for competition. We do this as a hobby and we all learn from each other. And even the best developers out there are still learning. If you think developers do this for money you are sadly mistaken, money is in app development not roms.
We all have families, kids, school, jobs and a real life. Therefore free time is hard to come by.
You can go to any development thread skim over the last two pages and have the known issues.

I'm aware of source control and I was using it and writing C code nearly 20 years ago although I'm not a programmer now nor was I then but thanks for informing me. I also note the lack of a git or other source control published in the first post of your ROM in the dev section. As I'm sure you know many (most?) other ROM's don't either in there.
Not sure what you're afraid of to be getting your back up. Nobody cares if you just barely learned how, or are an expert at, writing code. People will appreciate a community contribution regardless.

The above isn't even remotely true.
Are you done speaking for all developers yet? I would guess each one can speak for themselves, don't you think?
I guess your reading comprehension isn't very good. I explained why and how there may be differences. If your experience is mainly doing what I called "vanilla compiling" or theming then I guess I could see how you would generalize that all ROMs will be the same though.

Well plainly you have not read the umpteen million threads regarding lg and nvidias lack of open source. If you want the source for any of the roms I've posted that are based off of a stock rom. My source is right there in the rom. Decompile it and look at it. Just like i decompiled it and modded it. You want the source for my cm/aosp based roms its on my github. Want the source for aokp? Its on github and gerrit.
People clearly appreciate my contributions in the android community. I'd say 1000s of downloads and being kanged countless times can prove that. And in case you haven't noticed their aren't many devs in the g2x community. And certainly hardly any of them are going to come answer a thread posted in the wrong section.
Lastly I am not on any high horse nor have I ever been. I have done more then my part to help and contribute to this community. When you post something constructive then you can try to bring your constructive criticism my way.
That is all have a good day. We will post our threads how we want to. Please learn to read a few replies and the answers are there.

Pretty sure this response answers the OP's question far better than I ever could have. Thanks for demonstrating.
Coming from being an iPhone fanboy, I was well aware of the snooty attitudes that are rampant over there. Now that I have a taste of the Android side, I have learned a few things, some the hard way, and one thing I've noticed is how the attitudes are much the same. I have met some cool people with some great ideas and skills, and there are even a few that will answer questions. I get that some get annoyed at the asking of the same questions over and over. However, as a Dev, you should be expecting this. As Android takes more and more market share, new people are coming into this (like me) and trying to learn as much as we can. Some want simple answers, some want more complicated ones. I did a lot of the research myself, watching videos, Google searches, etc. But some people don't know how to, or just aren't computer literate.
XDA is a GREAT resource for information. But like other sites, sometimes you have to word your searches just right or you get nothing close to what you are trying to find out. Not the site's fault, it's just the way search engines are. So a hoard of people head into the threads, asking questions, and mostly getting good answers, But, as I have trolled through, I notice a lot of attitudes coming from devs, or friends of devs as they attack people because they didn't have 4 hours to troll though 500 pages in a thread, reading each and every post. Hoping their question was asked and answered before. If that makes you angry, maybe you should just make your ROMs and share them with a few friends and call it a day. From what I can see, most of the ROMs are pretty much the same in a lot of respects. I know the difference between TW ROMs and AOSP ROMs. I did the homework. I learned the hard way by soft bricking my phone, and I researched and got myself out of that jam thanks to the videos and postings of some nice people. There are a lot of people that don't have the PC skills or the time to do that. And even more that have no idea about message boards and how they work. BTW, the term "flaming" someone is as irritating to me as those people that ask the same questions over and over are to you. This is almost 2013. Terms like that are the exact reason I hate having to use message boards. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as you are. It doesn't mean they are dumb, they just don't want to learn, or they don't have the time.
I guess I'm trying to say, if you are going to put yourself out there by developing a ROM for free, and then complain because someone asks you a question or bugs you because you haven't updated it, maybe you should just all start charging for the ROMs. I will go back to stock myself, but I'm sure there are a few that will pay to have a few extras a little ahead of time. Then your base will shrink, allowing you to breathe easier knowing you are getting paid for your time. Maybe then, you will have to be a little nicer, more customer friendly. If you don't think you are getting the recognition you deserve, then don't do it. I know many would miss the customization, but they would quickly forget about it and find something else to do. And by the way, I have never had an issue like this. I'm strictly speaking from an observers point of view. Matter of fact, I may start doing some reviews, that will include not only the ROM itself, but the developers attitude when it comes to helping people through their issues. I think people should have the right to know if they are going to get help or not when choosing a ROM or other custom feature.
In closing, a lot of questions could be answered if some threads were created and "stickied" that explain the basic functions and directions dealing with flashing ROMs. It seems a lot of the "bugs" people experience are actually explainable because they had no clue what a clean flash vs dirty flashing was. Or that if you had Nova on one ROM, then flashed another ROM and Nova auto installed along with your other apps, that you would have to uninstall Nova to avoid problems. Or that CM kernels are not compatible with TW kernels and if the new ROM you are flashing doesn't install a new kernel, your new ROM may not be compatible with the one left behind form the old. Stuff like that. Sorry for the long post. Again, I have had no problems with anyone on here, dev or not, I just have seen a lot of this happening. And a lot of the attitudes are from dumb little things. You wanted to make ROMs, we all didn't force you to. And if you stop, others will take your place. I have seen that recently too, as soon as the new Nexus hit, a ton of devs left the SGS3 in the dust. But a few new guys showed up and have done a great job with their stuff. Congrats to them, I have found a good stable ROM because of this, and have received great support from this guy. He also regularly updates and interacts with the people taking the time to possibly brick their device to load his ROM. I hope more of those people show up in the future. Those are the people I will keep following and being patient with.
Most people usually help out, some don't. I just have a problem with developers thinking their **** don't stink as you'll learn if you venture out of this forum.
This thread is kinda out of line. Devs deliver us ROMs for free, who's to say what's expected and what's not? The only thing XDA requires devs to do is make their process or code open source, that's it. Devs aren't customer service reps, nor do they have to answer questions and play nice. They are doing us a favor by releasing the latest and the greatest bottom line. If your going to run a ROM, you should read the entire thread because there may be things you have to do, and if it weren't for people asking the same question over and over, threads would be half as long. If you dont have the time or the patience to do the research, you shouldn't be modding your device to begin with.

Yes, that does seem to be an issue. I notice too that the Original Android Devs are a little more snooty than the TW devs. Just my observation.
Do you honestly blame them? If they are going to spend hours and hours of their time coding, learning, and releasing ROMs for you, for free, and on top of it have you spend 10 mins maybe searching for an answer and then bothering them? I honestly don't blame them.
I've spent hours breaking things just to figure out how they work. Flashing things over and over and over again.
I wouldn't want to do that for hours on end, to have someone spend 10 mins, give up, and cry to me for help, then get mad when I didn't hand them the answer.

You're right, they do deliver them for free. But people are trusting them and risking bricking a very expensive device to try their ROM and push their ROMs on other people. They willingly put themselves out there. We all could buy and use phones without customizing them. I'm just saying they act a little too fancy sometimes. Not all of them. Just a few.
Why is this out of line? I posted this in the general section. If I would have posted it anywhere else you would have said it should be in the General forum. See, you made one of my points for me. And last time I checked, I can say whatever I want. If the forum wants to cut it, fine. I'll deal with it on my outlet. No big deal.
Not going to lie, I think Android fanboys are worse than Apple fanboys from what I've seen. I was on a YouTube channel where a woman was talking about how she got an iPhone after selling her Galaxy Nexus and the comments were, "Go kill yourself iwhore", "Traitor sheep", "iSlut", Dumb bimbo etc. The most I see on Mac rumors are "poorphone" or no apps, or cheap looking. Whereas here, if you say iPhone you'll have a ton of people start calling you a sheep. I don't know, I think its incredible how ignorant some people are. Some people just like other things.
Galaxy SIII/Soon to be Note 2 owner once it comes in ftw.
Oh as an edit. That Instagram thing was awful a few months back when Android got instagram. iOS users were saying, "Oh now we get to see what poor people do" Terrible. Simply terrible.

I doubt people are giving up in 10 minutes and running for the forums. Most people don't want to risk any of this to possibly ruin their expensive phones. The point is, they put themselves out there and make themselves available on the forums. If they don't want to deal with noobs (which every one of you was at one time or another) then throw up a ROM on some site and leave it. I'm not blaming anyone for anything. I figured out a lot on my own too. I have asked very few questions of anyone. But there are a lot of people that don't have the time or knowledge to find all this out on their own. If they are being asked the same question over and over, maybe put those answers in the OP to begin with. I have seen quite a few ROMs posted with very little info in the OPs. They aer banking on everyone knowing what they are doing right off the bat.
And lets really clear some things up. Some of these "Devs" aren't really developing anything. They have the time and/or patience and utilize the kitchen to strip down a stock rom. They throw in some mods that real devs made and slap their name on it. Then ask for donations like they just did something incredible. I've tried just about every modified stock rom on xda and there was really no difference. And God forbid someone has anything negative to say about a rom.
And in regards to the aosp devs, if they dont want to be asked questions or don't want their work criticized they shouldn't be making roms for the public. This forum is filled with smart asses that think everyone should know what they know. Everyone at one point had to ask someone else for help because how else do you learn.

That is why they are guides and info posted in op if bugs and such?
I sure did not post here when I was rooting oh I need some help with adb fastboot Odin what's the problem there are plenty of guides that cover everything
People just tend to give up so easily; that's how lazy the generation has become. Those guides posted helped me out and such. I didn't ask someone else for helped I did this on my own with a guide up on here now I know more than just rudimentary things of the android world I help people out but still gets annoying when you have 5 if the same threads I mean if I could find them why can't they? It's really not that hard.

As someone buying a G1 and not even knowing what rooting was, I have no sympathy for the winers. I soft bricked, got almost no sleep reading up on recovering it, and I never once posted a question. Now I'm flashing/recovering/restoring any device I want.
The devs spend countless hours working on making roms and apps for us, the least you could do is research (hours if necessary) before asking the same questions that have been answered previously. If you can't handle common sense tasks then a) don't root or flash b) stay with your iPhone
Not trying to rip anyone, but this is a pointless thread Imo.

Endorsed.
Replace G1 with D1 and that's my story. I googled. I bricked. I bricked a lot. And I read. End of story.
You make it seem like phone tinkering and flashing are a right, a service if you will. It's not. This is a site for phone geeks to share their work. You should be grateful it's not a paid service. Why fix something that's not broken? If you don't like the way it is, you have plenty of options out there. You are complaining about forums in general - it's not limited to xda.
For the record, your post was pretty good until the last paragraph. Didn't agree with that one, however - that's Ok. Your opinion. Just like this is mine...

I do have to add though that out of like the 15 touchwiz stock ROMs out there, most of them are the same. And personally I think dev's should accept and take in whatever criticism they get for their ROM. As constructive criticism, so they can make their ROM better.
If they have no desire to make it better, then they should outright say their will only be one release. If they feel someone is being disrespectful, they should be the better person and tell them politely to not be so disrespectful. Just my opinion, and yes I am grateful for all the devs do here.

Constructive criticism is fine. What's annoying (even from a non-dev perspective) is the same question getting asked over and over again. Sometimes a dead horse is kicked up for 4-5 pages. Then once it finally dies down, some dude asks the same question. It's silly and unnecessary. If they Google their question followed by ", xda" they would have found the original answer.

First, I have no problems with XDA. That wasn;t the intention. XDA provides a great service to people who want to customize their phone AND devs that want to put their work out there.
Second, if you feel like this thread is useless, why are you spending the time to respond?
Third, the statement I made wasn't a slam on anyone. I am well aware of people that are too lazy to search things out for themselves. The point I was making, is we need each other. If we refuse to tinker with our phones, the devs are essentially doing this for themselves and a few friends that want to join in. If they aren't creating ROMs, we don't have a way to customize our phones. However, we can get along without each other too. I know if the ROMs weren't there, I would still enjoy the use of my smartphone. If we weren't downloading, devs would still tinker with building ROMs. The whole issue is how we treat each other on ANY forum. If you are getting asked the same questions over and over, maybe a the first post should be updated with those Q&A's. I have seen very few OPs do that. In fact, a majority of the AOSP threads have nothing at all posted regarding issues or potential problems. They just expect everyone to know everything. Everybody learned from somebody else. Whether it was through Google search, this forum or YouTube videos. MOST of the people complaining about the same questions being asked have very little info on their thread.
Again, props to those devs that don't mind helping people out. And props to XDA for providing the forum. The rest should put up pay sites maybe, but their ROM downloads would quickly fall. I have enjoyed my experience thus far tinkering around with something new. But the few in the community that whine about people asking questions should settle down and realize how you act. That goes for the "customer" that can't ask nicely too. I'm not anti-dev. I get what they do is tough and time consuming.

We spend time to respond to actually have you realize no one is gna be here all the time for you some things you have to be done by themselves, I'm 16 I wonder when you'll realize that. No one is gna be up your ass changing your clothes for you either learn the hard way or just not at all.
I have seen multiple threads of people complaining that their data is gone on cm10.1 and not one has bothered to even look at the op's post clearly showing the way to fix it. They just want the easy way out to ask and have someone redirect them there and I have but it gets tiring doing it over and over and over again.

Despite me being new to XDA I am not new to the process of rooting android phones. I have been rooting other people's phones before I bought the Galaxy S 3. I don't ask questions in forums I research my own answers to my questions. I noticed the same things as the person who started this thread I just don't see the point in bringing it up as it will continue to happen.
Unlike all the badass geniuses in here I have asked questions since I got my first smartphone less than a month ago.
I think it's pretty stupid how people think they're so cool because they figured out how to root, there are so many details in rooting/flashing ROMs and kernels and these high end smart phones are very expensive especially now because of the **** economy, people just don't want to brick they're phones they invested so much in.
People aren't supposed to know all the bugs in a new ROM they flashed and you guys are giving this "issue" too much priority.
