My dads Ipad has an app called Zumocast.. Which is like a media center..
He streams all his videos/movies/music from his home computer to his ipad on any internet connection, doesnt have to be within his network..
Its pretty bad ass actually.
I told him there is no way an ipad/iphone would have something that an android doesn't..
But there is no zumocast for android.. There has to be something like it right???
and Zumocast is free too!
I am definitely interested in this....I have been searching...only thing I found so far is torrent-fu, also free

I use Audiogalaxy for music, and it seems to work pretty well. I made an account with Zumocast when it first launched because they promised an android app, but that has yet to surface still.

yep use audiogalaxy here and it works great for music but at the moment the only way I know of streaming videos is through setting up a server using vlc and using VLC Stream & Convert to watch it.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/vlc-stream-convert/com.gmail.traveldevel.android.vlc.app
I have used zumodrive and dropbox to do both these actually, but on both my old etch e sketch..i mean iphone and EVO I have used OrbLive and it rocks.
With OrbLive I can stream tv from home to my phone..whereas dropbox and zumodrive I can't.
I have ripped backups of some of my DVDs and also watched them on phone..again with Orb Live this rocks cause you provide the storage space on pc or phone and with zumo and dropbox you get 2GB for free before heading into monthly fees.

Google music beta does almost same thing. It works just for music but is way less buggy. Also has option to listen to music offline.

Try subsonic it streams music and video and converts on the fly. To watch video it'll open a webpage.. I've been using this for 2 years now

Since Google pulled it and Grooveshatk's website still redirects to the Market, I was wondering if someone could upload the APK here. Thanks!
Here you go...
Why did they pull it?
Ideos X5 / Huawei U8800
Much thanks!
I'm new to grooveshark and didn't realize that the mobile app needs an anywhere account @ $90/yr. Since you have the apk, I'm assuming you might be a subscriber. If so, do you find it worth it?
I am a subscriber but, I didn't get the apk from my phone. I found it somewhere else.
As for the service itself, I was using Grooveshark a long time and since I was grandfathered in, I pay 3$/month. For that, it is totally worth it.

Nice.... it seems to be a lot better than pandora or slacker premium in that u can make your own playlists etc. I just jumped in for a year @ $20 for their support Japan promotion.
http://store.grooveshark.com/products/72750-japan-relief-year-gsa
There was one apk that was modded so that you could get the functionality for free. This guy Here also makes a free alternative to the grooveshark app.

Invest in a slingbox and slingplayer mobile software.
+1 to the Slingbox idea.
i have a slingbox great picture with LTE!
Using a. TV tuner in your PC with orb is much cheaper, and does more than just stream TV. I use it, and it works. I have to say though that their development team and support suck.
Also, the myhava Vulkano is much better and cheaper than slingbox, and easier than orb.
http://myvulkano.com/products.html
slingbox
I have a slingbox and love it, the sling player works great over 4G too.
That is quite an investment however...
You could take a look at apps like Crakle, that have archived TV shows for viewing. For live TV, you're options become much more limited.

I have the vulkano platinum, and the hava titanium. I like their products, but they DON"T offer any support of their older products. I can't in good faith recommend them again until they start offering support for their legacy products. They purposely block the data stream to the legacy products using the vulkano app because it works fine over wifi, but it doesn't over 3/4g. Which is where their servers come into play.

It depends what kind of music-making app you're looking for.
If you want score notation, Ensemble Composer Pro
Pocketbeats/FL Studio have Android versions as well if you're looking to make music without the notation
There are a few things here and there. What kind of music-making are you looking for?

Thanks for the reply. At the moment, I am not sure what kind I am looking for. I am trying to get an idea of what's available but most likely an app that adds music notation is what I need.
Avoid anything requiring real time input as latency on Android is horrific. So my honest advice is to buy an iPad if you want to create on a tablet. Better yet buy a laptop for the same price and run Reason. Job done.

App that adds music notation, Ensemble Composer Pro would be your best choice. Everything else is single-track oly, but if you can live with that that shouldn't be a problem.
Sadly in terms of music composition apps, Android isn't quite there yet...not ones that require full-on notation and traditional score anyway.

I wish there were some developers here that could fix the latency since Google has no plans to do anything about it. The music apps are the one thing I miss from iOS. The number of people this would be useful too seems to be a very small minority though.

They said they'd address it (or at least look into it more) prior to ICS iirc. It did get a little better but it's still horrible.

Setup a subsonic server.

The server is free. Premium services are either monthly or annual, take your pick. Third-party apps are either free or cost a few bucks to..you guessed it,..support the devs that give you support back. Kinda like the way Android works.
This is what the written in their latest app
*Welcome to Subsonic
....
After a 30-day free trial period you must upgrade to Subsonic Premium to continue using this app. Enjoy these extra features after upgrading:
So we are forced to pay after 30days.. Hmmm i think that's ok if they have cloud service, but we are using our own machine, why make us pay every month..

All I could find was MSpot Radio:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mspot.android.music.mspotradiosprint&hl=en
There is a freebie server and app called Qloud, I found it worked okay, but no where near the level of development of Subsonic and it's sharing/control, etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.qiss.vega.ad&hl=en
Mate, subsonic requires you to pay after 30days fir the mobile app to keep working with your server
Anyways, i found an alternative, ES File Explorer app. Its a file explorer app but it also lets you setup a cloud account. And you can play music using its built in music player
Downside is its music player lack some feature. But its better than nothing and it works like a charm and best if all its absolutely free!

Google Music can be setup in any country, I did it before it was available in my country officially. Just search on Google and you will find out how to do it.
I'm interested to find alternative to Google Music too
I tried "4shared music" but the player is very not good.

ES File Explorer can't even compare. Give Sub a go for 30 days...12 buck annually is a bargain for what it gives you...granted I'm serving 600 gigs of music.

1) purchase music online
2) upload your music collection to the cloud

You're absolutely correct mate. all in all, I only have 20GB of music that I want to access anytime. My Box cloud account has 50GB of free storage, that's more than enough.
And unlike subsonic, I dont need to turn on my own computer just to access it.
