My dads Ipad has an app called Zumocast.. Which is like a media center..
He streams all his videos/movies/music from his home computer to his ipad on any internet connection, doesnt have to be within his network..
Its pretty bad ass actually.
I told him there is no way an ipad/iphone would have something that an android doesn't..
But there is no zumocast for android.. There has to be something like it right???
and Zumocast is free too!
I am definitely interested in this....I have been searching...only thing I found so far is torrent-fu, also free

I use Audiogalaxy for music, and it seems to work pretty well. I made an account with Zumocast when it first launched because they promised an android app, but that has yet to surface still.

yep use audiogalaxy here and it works great for music but at the moment the only way I know of streaming videos is through setting up a server using vlc and using VLC Stream & Convert to watch it.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/vlc-stream-convert/com.gmail.traveldevel.android.vlc.app
I have used zumodrive and dropbox to do both these actually, but on both my old etch e sketch..i mean iphone and EVO I have used OrbLive and it rocks.
With OrbLive I can stream tv from home to my phone..whereas dropbox and zumodrive I can't.
I have ripped backups of some of my DVDs and also watched them on phone..again with Orb Live this rocks cause you provide the storage space on pc or phone and with zumo and dropbox you get 2GB for free before heading into monthly fees.

Google music beta does almost same thing. It works just for music but is way less buggy. Also has option to listen to music offline.

Try subsonic it streams music and video and converts on the fly. To watch video it'll open a webpage.. I've been using this for 2 years now

Netflix did have a job posting earlier in the year suggesting that they were looking for an Android developer.
http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/netflix-targeting-streaming-for-android-with-latest-job-posting
Rumor has it Netflix will have a streaming Android player soon, hopefully very soon.
For now we'll wait. I wish they just used flash instead of the special plugin they require. If you change ur UA String to desktop and try to stream a movie, it asked you to install their silverlight plugin.

Google TV is going to support netflix is it not? and that is just android
I believe the Netflix support is because of GTV has Chrome built-in and has the tools necessary to play it. There's an Android app in dev that targets mobile phones and tablets.
its coming give it a few...im sure it will have a better ui than the one on the iphone.
Soooo amped for this. The "workday" will be so much more fun now...lol

Question about streaming. Does 4G affect streaming audio/video or does it just affect downloading/uploading a file(s)?
Figured this would be a good place to post this, but is there a good Netflix app to just manage my movies and such?
Have you tried PhoneFlicks or QueueMan? I use PhoneFlicks and it works well, I've never used QueueMan but have heard it works well too.

It'ss pulled from appbrain sometime since yesterday. I personally was hoping for a review before I spend $9 on it.
I'm calling BS on that app. For instance, Why does he have it priced at 4.99 and 8.99

Technically, you can use the PlayOn work around. You have to intall an app on your PC and the client on your profile, get an account with PlayOn and it streams from Netflix to your PC to your Phone. At least, thats my understanding.

i just find it a little silly that I have to pay one company money to stream movies and tv shows from another company, because they cannot do it themselves...
They have the ability but won't do streaming on Android because they're paranoid about protecting their content. Arrrr

Yeah thats what Im saying, I dont mind paying for netflix, but if I have to pay playon as well, it just seems unnecessary and redundant!
They made an app for it, even demo'd it. However, it got leaked and people used it. You can use it to manage your queues though. Just can't seem to stream.

Invest in a slingbox and slingplayer mobile software.
+1 to the Slingbox idea.
i have a slingbox great picture with LTE!
Using a. TV tuner in your PC with orb is much cheaper, and does more than just stream TV. I use it, and it works. I have to say though that their development team and support suck.
Also, the myhava Vulkano is much better and cheaper than slingbox, and easier than orb.

slingbox
I have a slingbox and love it, the sling player works great over 4G too.
That is quite an investment however...
You could take a look at apps like Crakle, that have archived TV shows for viewing. For live TV, you're options become much more limited.

I have the vulkano platinum, and the hava titanium. I like their products, but they DON"T offer any support of their older products. I can't in good faith recommend them again until they start offering support for their legacy products. They purposely block the data stream to the legacy products using the vulkano app because it works fine over wifi, but it doesn't over 3/4g. Which is where their servers come into play.

Hey guys,
So I discovered the music streaming service called "deezer".
It's pretty cool, has a good interface online and as an app and has offline support.
Well so far so good. It costs 10€ per month, which is okay to have me.
Sooo my question is if there is something better out there with a bigger library and better android support
Hope you can give me some advice and recommendations.
Thanks in advance.

uTorrent now has a full BitTorrent client for Android, so you can download torrents right to your phone no matter where you are.
Download from Google Play [Beta] : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.utorrent.client
Android 2.1 and above.
Should we consider Torrent as a download option now

Its a app, so goes in themes and apps. Please post in the correct section.
uTorrent are mostly used to download cracked apps, games, music and movies. Is this thread really legit for this site? I say no.

Torrents dont mean illegal activity, Its a way of sharing
The app itself is fine, Its what the users choose to use it for what can be illegal.
Even O_G didnt close it ! so it must be good :good:

Bank robbers use cars to escape. We should ban cars and make them illegal.

There are lots of legal ways to use torrents. μTorrent is a tool, just like Google.

I've been using tTorrent Pro. At the time I bought it, it was the best I could find. It works but could be better. I have not been able to find a good NZB client for Android either. I bought PowerNZB, it works, the 2 or three other ones I downloaded did not work. Most are for feeding your NZB client on your home server, I have a script and dropbox folder for doing that. If I do download media on my phone, I use PowerNzb more often then torrents.

Well, uTorrent is just a sharing application. If you want, you can download similar application with any other downloader tool. The application itself is not corrupted. It's the people who use this in wrong way.
** uTorrent is sometimes better for downloading. :good:
I also tried the µTorrent and BitTorrent apps some weeks ago. But I have to say, that they are sometimes unstable.
The design is not the best, but reason for that could also be the big screen of the note ^.^
My favourite torrent client is "Swarm". It's stable, simple design, light-weight and works fine with all extras we know from the desktop client.
Better try this.
Hey so I torrented an item, and than went to locate it on my gs3 and now I can't find it. I've went through rooted processes to find the app and see if it downloaded within the folder there but not to be found.
I haven't deleted it...it still shows its on my phone.
Can anyone reccomend any solutions? I haven't changed any settings on my utorrent app on my phone.
Try to download another item and it will notify you before it starts to confirm the folder to store in . . Then you will know where the first item is stored . Hope it helps.

Tested, not bad but it would be perfect if I could connect to my uTorrent windows client using the app going through my wireless network. I know there are remote feature but they are in the cloud or using a web browser (to connect directly to the torrent client)
