REVIEW - Screen Protectors - HTC vs Brando

First of all the htc screen protector was a cut to size HD2 one. Brando one was the Desire one. Second of all, sorry - no pics. Third of all, the HTC protector was used on my phone two weeks ago.
HTC - Price: ~£5 for 2
Brando - Price: ~£7 for 1
HTC - Friction: More than no screen protector (aka alot). Pinching is slightly affected in terms abit harder to do.
Brando - Friction: Similar to no screen protector. Pinching is as easy.
HTC - Fingerprints: Sort of, can wipe off but not so easy
Brando - Fingerprints: Less than the HTC protector but can be wiped off easily.
HTC - Glare: Been a while, but did seem to be more glossy than no screen protector
Brando - Glare: Not alot, was able to read from the screen with one of the most powerful bycle lights you can find on the open market only a few centimeters above.
HTC - Visibility: Cant comment, very poorly cut to size
Brando - Visibilty: Near to none, only on close inspection.
HTC - Touch Sensitivity: Only effected in terms of pinching is harder (due to friction) - other than that seems more or less as normal
Brando - Touch Sensitivity: More or less normal
(both hardly effect it - if at all)
Thickness: Both similar. Neither are flimsly like paper or anything and are thick enough.
Protectability: Dont dare test, but thickness and covering the whole of the screen (inc black parts) I'd say alot.
HTC - Installation: Expect air bubbles first time round.
Brando - Installation: Easy, no air bubbles but if you put it on and theres dust on the screen, theres no second protector (so just live with it - as I have done)
HTC - Overall: 6/10, biggest let down is the added friction, that was quiet annoying. The added glare factor or slightly more finger prints is only slight, and not much of an issue.
Brando - Overall: 8/10, its almost perfect in every way, but price is quiet high, especially since i got dust accidently on the adhesive while installing i just have to live with it.
Both the HTC and Brando will protect your screens quiet well, but if you can afford it the Brando will definetley make you happy.
Feel free to post other reviews of other screen protectors or question my ratings. Point of this is to help people choose the best one.

I hate you lot - I was taking a picture and dropped the camera ONTO the Desire screen, the lens of the camera scratched the screen protector (it was a meter drop)
Peeled it abit and the BRANDO has saved the screen!
Putting it back on causes some air bubbles.
But, <3 Brando, will replace the scratched damaged one soon
@Seriously, go for the brando one - Its well worth it - Protects your screen (protected mine already!!) and you wont notice its there (even my friends asked if i have a screen protector on it after using it)

The brando does - the HTC I'd imagine does but bare in mind I was using a hd2 cut to size one, as far as I'm aware they are all made from the same material just different cuts

I too have got the Brando and I agree it's perfect in every way.
Just to add a really good tip with regard to dust. If you apply any of these screen protectors in a bathroom that is steamed up you will not have to deal with any airborne dust particles. You will also find the application far easier. Once those dust particles are between the screen and the protector there is nothing you can do about it.

thats not entirely true. just take 2 pieces of regular tape and you can get rid of them, although you have to be really careful not to get even more dust under there (paste 1 on the protector, lift it up, then remove the dust with the second piece of tape)

Just received my copy of the Brandon Ultra clear today, and first thing i noticed is that it’s not covering the entire screen, -if I align it directly on the left and the top, I can see that there is missing a few millimeters on the right and bottom. The sensitivity is okay, I can’t feel a difference. I do however think colors are not as vibrant as before without, but I think that might be the price of a screen protector…

my brando anti glare sp turned up yesterday, not fitted as yet. i have a butchered touch hd sp in place. which is doing the job. the Desire specific has a cutout along the top edge, apparently to not block a sensor. i will not bother fitting the new sp as the whole screen is not covered. sensor works fine with butchered sp. anyone want a brando anti glare sp for Desire ? pm me

Has anyone used these Clairvue Screen Protectors for the G2? If so, how are they and did you get the ultra-clear or anti-glare?

I believe all anti-glare films, regardless of the brand, will do that and also decrease the clarity of the screen. It's just how they work.

I bought Clarivue ultra clear the same time i ordered my otterbox, the otterbox screen protector was really good. But the Clarivue protector is amazing, install was not hard at all. I did an amazing job installing it no bubbles or lint at all. I showed the phone to my friend and he couldn't believe that i had a screen protector on. The cut is perfect covers the whole screen. When you install it make sure you put some tape on the edges, it will be easier to align the protector. i took pics of the phone with the screen protector on, i was just trying to show that no lint is present.

These protectors are awesome. No one could tell that I even have a screen protector on! They fit extremely well and feel exactly like the glass, unlike zagg or similar which gives you a rubbery feel and creates more friction than anything else (annoying as hell if you use swype). Highly recommend!

Been using them for years, love them, thats all I buy for my devices, thats the first thing I do when I get a new device is get the Clarivue screen protector.

i recived mine today. its pretty good but the ****ing problem that annoys me is that its not exactly cut!! it doesnt cover the whole screen... is urs perfect fit or should i contact them?

i have the clarivue anti-glare and its decent but this is probably the second anti-glare ive ever bought for a phone so i don't have much experience with them. compared to the first one i bought from tmobile its definitely an upgrade... fingerprints are visible after a while and the screen is diminished a bit but overall i do like it. the cut isn't perfect as it doesn't cover certain areas completely but i mean its like a millimeter off.

I had to take off the ultra clear screen protector, because it got scratched up. Could not stand all the scratches. I installed the second one, but its not a perfect fit like the first clarivue protector. Im not sure why the second was was not a perfect fit, but i will leave it on.

I,was waiting for HTC Desire Z screen protectors to hit the market because I can't order anything...

after 3 months of use my screen protector started to loose (mostly because of the dust i got between the display glass and the protector when i mounted it)
i have dropped keys and a heavy metallic cigarette lighter on my phone while i had my screen protector on and i noticed when removed it today that my screen looked as it did when my phone were brand new
Mounted the new protector today (since i got 2 when i ordered it) without getting any dust particles under it and it still looks brand new
Too bad the rest of my phone starts to look quite used

GreatShield Ultra Anti-Glare (Matte) Clear Screen Protector for HTC Sensation

Initially I was a bit worried when I first purchased this item because it was more expensive than others I had seen but the item looked a good quality so I just went for it, but then after reading the other reviews became a little panicky people complaining the item didn't fit properly and took a month to arrive (Ordered from Amazon UK), I started to regret my purchase after waiting a few weeks myself for the item to arrive.
Having now received the item I couldn't be more glad that I waited it out, I still maintain that the item was pretty expensive and I did have to wait a few weeks for it but I would definitely say this is one of the best screen protectors that you can get for the HTC sensation, The item description stated that the design had been changed so that the protectors no longer cover the whole front of the phone which is where most complaints are being made saying they don't fit, but personally I think this is a plus because the contoured glass of the sensation makes it near impossible for any screen protector to stick whereas these are slightly thinner and after a few attempts I managed to get it sitting perfectly just covering the touch sensitive buttons at the bottom and perfect space all the way around I couldn't be happier with the fit and the antiglare matte finish is amazing. However due to my lack of decent micro fibres I did manage to get a few stray bits of lint and whatnot under the protector whilst trying to fit it which has caused a few bubbles but it doesn't bother me as it is stuck down good and perfectly aligned (As well as the fact that these protectors only came in a pack of 3). As soon as I peeled the top layer off and saw the anti glare matte finish I was pretty much in awe it looks and feels amazing, it's a great texture reduces glare and screen smudges very well. The packaging the item came in was also very nice and professional it contained a soft application card and a very soft micro fibre as well as the shields (Although I would say the microfibre is weird its sort of a microfibre crossed between a cloth and its not great). These shields are no joke once they are down they stick like hell I tried getting one off after applying it off centre and it took me a bit to get it off to re-apply. These protectors leave no residue either which is great. I am very impressed and since the fit is so nice no lifting should be experienced so if applied well will stay on until desired unlike most protectors especially for this phone. One thing I would say is I wouldn't have minded seeing another couple of protectors in the pack for the price but overall, an amazing product.

Maybe I'll try it because I have been looking for something similar to Power Support, which is only for the iPhone. The only thing I'm concerned about is not fitting all the way to the edge of the screen. They claim they've redesigned it to this fashion due to customer suggestions!!

The matte finish really doesn't affect the screen at all they just use that as a disclaimer, I just prefer it as its a nicer texture and prevents glare, It does not pixelllate the screen at all.

I've used mine since Aug and I still have the same one on my phone, the Matte finish effect has sort of lessened now as expected and it has picked up one or two scratches but other than that its still good to go, I'm thinking soon though I might stick a fresh one on here just so I can have that nice matte feel again but I've been pretty impressed with the screen shield it covers the screen very nice the shape and size is perfect especially if you're using a phone case as well so the case doesn't cause the edges to lift and on that note it hasn't lifted anywhere despite me leaving a few bubbles when applying it, good purchase imo.

I noticed that touch is a bit less sensitive

I've got a similar one but haven't noticed any reduction in sensitivity but it was fairly easy to apply and with a 0.33 screen protector like you say the egdes become really nice, almost like Sony designed the phone with that in mind

I went with a .3mm tempered glass protector too. Similar good fit, but I too have noticed a distinct reduction in senstivity. Guess I might have to change back to a more standard protector.

I've got this one and like I've said, no noticeable sensitivity reduction.
Not sure if the picture gives any guidance since most seem to be the same package (but mine was front only) just different paper covers. Also love the fact that it got a typo on compact (compzct) ^^ Chinese high-end :good: The stickers and wipe packages where more or less identical to the ones that was shown on the site for the first post.
I washed my screen with water and soap to remove grease more effectively, then did the normal steps for applying the glass.

The one I got fits almost perfect, maybe 0.5 mm "gap" around the screen but since the egde is above the normal screen the phone feels more or less completely smooth. How small is your screen compared to the phone?

My tempered protector fits well but it feels like it's a little less responsive.

I orderd mine from ebay for 2 euro and its awesome. Dont have any problems with responsiveness but you people that have that problem can try to turn on the handglove mode in dislplay settings so it responds more.

I've never used a tempered glass protector. (Usually use a SGP protector)
Do most of these use an adhesive to bond to the screen? Does it prevent clean removal?

Just added a Taggshield Tempered Glass 9H Film to my Compact. Fits nice, as mentioned before, almost as if Sony set the glass lower for this to be added. Easy to install, no glue etc.
I wonder how long it will last on, as static holds it on, hoping it will protect the glass from scratchs. Time will tell

Just to give you guys an update. I bought my glass screen protector a few weeks ago. So easy to install. Dropped my phone from a height of about 5ft onto a sharp edge of metal and then onto concrete. I have a silicon case too. Smashed the screen protector and got a nice dent on the side of my phone but otherwise it's perfect. Any other protector would have allowed my screen to break. Well impressed and new one arriving in a day or two.

Need Nilkin 3D CP+ Max, SP Review.

Hey guys I'm planning to buy the Nilkin 3D CP+ screen protector for my OnePlus 6 and I am hoping those of you who are already using it will share your experience with me.
My first concern is regarding the black borders on the sides, how much screen area do they eat up? Also does the border on the notch, make it look thicker?
The official TG glass from OnePlus is really overpriced in my country, so I'm really hoping the Nilkin one can be the next best alternative. Tia.

The main problem for me of the nillkin was that the glass is very thin. It broke when I was trying to separate a little bit from the screen to adjust it better.
It fits properly and yes, it takes a little bit of the screen with the borders, but not as much as other screen protectors.
In my opinion, and it's based on my experience, the most balanced is the orzly. It's the most similar to the Oneplus official one of those that I've tried.

I've had this one but it broke on the sides. The edges float above the glass because the adhesive only covers the screen. Because the glass is thin these edges beak quite easily. I currently have the normal tempered glass H (not the h+) this glas doesn't cover the edges, but there are no black borders that cover any part of the display. I've had I'd on for about 3 months know and I'm really pleased with it. No bubble's no cracks and quite good oleophobic coating. Also because this one is thicker than the h+ pro it doesn't break as easily. I have it alligned perfectly, maybe it makes a difference.

I have one of these that I bought through amazon through a Nillkin page. the black boarder definitely covers a bit of the screen. a bit of the notch boarder covers the screen. If you move it up so that there's no black from the notch border you'll cut off quite a few pixels off the bottom making it very hard to use gesture based controls. I had a problem with air bubbles, the ones near the top corners went away naturally, the 2 at the bottom 2 corners refuse to go away even after adjusting them and applying pressure for over 5 minutes. It's not a problem with the case as there's a very slim edge separating the glass from the case (Tudia 2 part case). Depending on how much you're spending on it I wouldn't recommend it, I paid $16CAD and I have buyers remorse I can't recommend this protector to anyone. There's no damage/cracks/halo effects after 2 weeks of usages, so that's a plus. I've ordered the dbrand prism screen protector, I'm hoping it'll be the same size minus the black borders.

The best one is Omron tempered glass. They came in a set of two. Nillkin hides some of the screen. Omron doesn't.

Thank you all for your response I won't buy the Nilkin glass since it breaks so easily. It's a shame OnePlus 6 has such a huge incompatibility with budget 5D/6D tempered glasses. Spending 18 quid on the official doesn't make any sense cause it too will break after a fall which can happen anytime.

I haven't seen these. The only Omron I've found make medical instruments.

Nillkin 3d CP Max is poor glass. It is to small for screen and cuts some screen part in up. I don't recommend this glass.

Nillkin CP+Max Tempered Glass Review
Consider this my review of the Nillkin CP+Max Oneplus 6 Tempered Glass
Bought from Nillkin's Aliexpress official store.
Overall I am satisfied(I knew pretty much all of the problems listed below when i bought it).
Keep in mind when viewing the photos I have installed the glass as much to the top as the case lets me(Practically the glass and the case touch at the top.Maybe if I had another case I wouldn't have even more of the notch cutting in, but that is another story)
Pros:
- Very nice quality glass with excellent touch feeling.Perfect oleophobic coating compared to 1-3$ tempered glasses. Worth the extra dollars for this reason only!
- Fits with rhinoshield crashguard case(you have to install the glass while wearing the crashguard case and not the one oneplus provides!)
- Edge to edge cover(as much as it can be, as the sides of the phone have a small curve)
Cons:
- The black borders around the edge are too thick on every side. This results to having about 0.5 to 1mm of screen pixels covered at all times,which is especially visible in the notch area,which cuts even more inside the screen. Also visible on the bootloader screen where text starts from the very left of the screen and half the first letter is hidden.While in normal app use you never see text that far to the side to make it a huge problem,it some times shows in 21:9 videos on youtube fullscreen. It seems this is a problem every tempered glass with black borders has. Not only Nillkin's!
- A portion around the edges,beneath the black border doesn't have adhesive. (I think this is because the phone's glass starts to curve there making it impossible for adhesive to stick,so they don't put adhesive right there)
Maybe Nillkin should make the borders thinner in the future and also have them in a lower layer of the glass,so it doesn't look like a window.
