I can't install a custom rom on my Sensation with S-off and clockworkmod touch recovery, all I ever get is error status 1 have tried a different sdcard but no luck can some one help me please ????
I had tried 3 different sdcard with no luck???
so I got a custom rom on my Sensation, I update my recovery to 5.0.2.0 and it worked fine, but how I will use the 4ext recovery I like it better.

I have a rooted Sidekick 4G and have downloaded the Smooth Maximus ROM onto it, as well as ROM Manager. When I looked at the how-to replace the stock recovery binary for CWM it doesn't allow me to overwrite the recovery, so I can't get CWM to boot. Any suggestions? I seem to be out of options. Thanks to anyone who can help!
ROM manager should have the option to flash CWM, need to do it twice then request that it boot you into recovery
I wanna flash cm7.1 into my Nexus s(i9023).Someone says I should flash “ClockworkMod Recovery” first then CM7.1.
I did not get it but CWM4.0.1.5.
It works, and got success to flash CM7.1
Is there will be some bad effect on my cellphone soon？
CWM = ClockWorkMod recovery.
There is a newer version of CWM available but it doesn't matter which one you used, if the operation was succesful. CWM 4 works just as well as CWM 3 and CWM 5 to update ROMs, don't worry and enjoy!

Okay, so I tried to install CyanogenMod 9 RC2 on my Sensation T-Mobile via CWM. I tried to install it via SD card but whenever I try installing it, it always responds with something like "e: can't open file.zip (bad) install aborted". It can't be a bad zip file, because I tried redownloading the same file from multiple sources, as well as other ROMs, like MIUI, but none of the ROMs flash. The only ROM that it does flash is BADOSP 1.1, which I'm using right now. I've also tried several different recoveries, like 4EXT, CWM 4.0.1.4, CWM 5, and CWM 5 Touch. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Are you still S-on? Before you get down to Rom flashing make sure you've done all the primary stuffs. SuperCID, s-off, update firmware, etc to minimize any issues. Update your recovery to the latest 4ext touch version. (Use 4ext updater app it does it for you) Compare md5 values before you flash a ROM. Emmm.... That's pretty much all I can think of. I flash all my Roms with 4ext touch. See if it works out for you Idk if you tried any or all of the above. just trying to help
Nope, I'm S-OFF using Juntobear and I think I figured out the problem. The SD card was broken and every zip that I put into it turned out to extract cpgz files, so i just got a new SD card and reformatted it and it works now. Thanks though!

I unlocked(still s-on), rooted, and tried a couple different recoveries (CWM 5.8.31,5.8.24,5.8.15 etc. and TWRP 1.7, 2.2)
what I did was first unlock,then flash recovery, and root, then flash boot.img from the ROM package, and install from SDcard. However everytime I get a Status 7 error messege, and installation fails...
And one time I tried to install from CWM ROM manger from Google Play in the OS, still failed after it reboot and goes in to recovery.
Some people on the web says that this means I need a different or newer recovery, but I've probably tried all the main and newest versions.....

nvm!!! I was stupid enough to download the ROM version for HTC ONE X..hahaha..
i was trying to flash new recovery to upgrade current phils recovery from Phils touch 5 to 6 so i can upgrade my rom to kitkat but always got error and appear a dead android on its back
same as flashing latest cwm recovery
then tried rom manager still the same

Must make sure you have root. If your root is messed up you may not be able to install a custom recovery.

flash the recoveryname.zip.md5 in odin that should work
If your still getting the error try re rooting
