[Q] Nexus s i 9023 2.3.3 status 7 and OTA 2.3.6 installerror - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was running nexus s 4.0.3 on my phone i downloaded the kernel to overclock my nexus s but the kernel was of nexus s gingerbread i suppose
So my phone hanged and didnt boot up ....at that time i forgot to make bacup of my current rom so i ve downloaded a older ics(not official pre realse one) i flashed with it and it started everything worket except wifi and the problem of status 7 has begun i couldnt fix it so i went to samsung guys and they installed the 2.3.3 on my phone ... and now the main problem start
My nexus s is not able to accept any kind of update say it as a system update of i9023 2.3.6 or custom rom with status 7 error . I googled it a lot they say its a problem with the signature it download a proper signed file still it doesn't help it installs but not working properly even after doing wipe cache , dalvik cache so i googled more it says make no changes in phone and return it with stock system apps i did it again same problem while system update (screen hangs with android exclamatiory sign in a triangle) i then downloaded a stock rom of 2.3.3 for nexus s i9023 while installing it with the clockworld mod recovery 5.0.2(latest as far as i know) it starts install then says status 7 error.
To overclock my phone i have installed netarchy kernel for overclocking to 1.4 ghz....is it because of my kernel changed i am not able to install andy custom rom or system ota update from google
And theres one more thing i have changed the bootloader version accidently thinking it may work to i9020xxka3 i think which is the same for i 9023 and my baseband version is i9020xxkb3.
I have tried to install many signed versions of rom for my phone including 2.3.3 ,2.3.6 and ics 4.0.3 all stock downloaded from different websites but still not able to install any rom through clockworld mod recovery and any of the system update .

[Q] Nexus S 2.3.4 upgrade problem

Hello,
I have a Nexus S phone with Honity15 kernel, and rock solid at 1500. With stock ROM.
But now I have tried to install the update to 2.3.4 and I have had a update check error.
I think that the reason is that the installer detects a modification in the stock Android installation. Is this true?
Can I download the sotck kernel again from anywhere?
I have a nand backup but, if I restore I will loose all the change that I have done it.
Thx for all.
Nobody knows is I can install the stock 2.3.3 kernel in the nexus s without restore the full nand backup?
Thank you
no i dear my friend

[Q] I need some answers about Nexus S

So I bought Nexus S from second hand recently mostly because it will get official ICS support from Google.
So because it's second hand buy, I really don't know if I'm using original bootloader, kernel, radio etc.
It's rooted (because I have Superuser app), I think it has stock 2.3.6 android (build number GRK39F) and kernel version 2.6.35.7-gf5f63ef, [email protected]#1.
Can someone who use stock android and original kernels confrime to me that this is right version?
I really want to update to ICS using incremental update which I found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445635) but I'm affraid to don't screw something because of bad experience when I radio bricked my desire
Can I update it to ICS or I need to do unroot or something?
Just download the correct stock ICS rom for your device (if it is I9020T or I9023) ,put it on the SD root and then flash it using the stock or CWM recovery and be done with it (if you need the ICS)
most likely you won't be update by OTA because you are rooted (system file verification will fail)
just download stock ICS ROM and flash it ...
Ota will install fine if its a stock rom with just root. The update script basically checks that everything that should be there is there . If there is something else in there like su it don't matter.
flashing a new rom is the best way to go if you have cwm installed already
I succesfuly flashed ICS and first impressions are very good.
But I think I lost recovery...

Click to collapse
flash a CWM recovery via adb , or there is TWRP recovery in DEV section , which is very good .

[Q] Update to JB issues (Sprint Galaxy Nexus)

Hey all,
I have a rooted sprint galaxy nexus on stock ICS 4.0.4. When I rooted my phone CWM wasn't sticking and so the guide i was using said I had to change recoveryfromboot.p to recoveryfromboot.p.bak. So I did that. Now when I try to install the OTA update it boots into recovery and fails the install with the message: Failed whole package sign (or something like that). How can I update to the newest stock build without having to wipe everything?

[Q] Help! Huawei U8800 Bootlooping on 2.3.5 Official Rom after many attempts to fix

Hey guys, I Know this phone is old but please help me
I was using official 2.3.5 ROM and it was getting old so I thought to root and install an ICS Rom so i rooted and installed MIUi ICS ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029969) it was really nice and i thought to install Aurora Rom(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492957) and it was Awsome! so i got into installing new ROMs and i was installing new ROMs almost every week and one day i saw CM 11 KitKat ROM for Huawei U8800 and I wanted to install it but before that i had to install Ble-Part Partition (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615712) i flashed it succesfully and i installed the 2.2 version after that i flashed CWM 6.0.4.6 and i installed KitKat CM11 without any problems!
After some time using it for some time i thought to go back to Aurora as CM 11 was a little buggy and Aurora was the most stable ROM but as i was installing Aurora, i accidently formatted Boot instead of formatting System and without realizing it i flashe Aurora which flashed very quickly rather unexpectedely, and when i rebooted a blue screen appeared. I (surprised) installed official 2.3.5 ROM via dload and when it had installed the phone went into bootloop and i performed a factory data reset and it booted normally. But when i rebooted the phone again again it went to bootloop again. So i installed official 2.2 ROM and it installed succesfully and it never bootlooped in 2.2 ROM. But i wanted to install Aurora but it needs a .35 kernel and whenever i install 2.3.5 it keeps on bootlooping and i cant root it, though i can root 2.2 ROM easily and install .32 ROMs but they are quite old and I want to install ICS, JellyBean or KitKat Rom, which unfortunately i cant
Just in case you would be wondering i have tried many methods to go back to stock partition and none of them works and i have 1.8 GB storage! I have read that distorted partition can cause bootloops on 2.3.5 ROM so if anyone can help me to fix this problem, ill be very grateful as this is a very important phone to me!
And if you have any questions please ask!

status 7 error flashing any rom

Hi guys Im having the problem stated in the title even though i deleted all the asserts lines in the updater script. I recently just flash a stock rom 4.4.2 http://www.droidviews.com/install-android-4-4-2-kitkat-firmware-galaxy-note-10-1-gt-n8020/. Originally its was running 4.1.2 singapore country. After flashing 4.4.2, i find... its really bad and wanted to flash back to my original stock rom. But the problem is got status 7 error when i flash ANY rom.
My Device : GT-N8020 Singapore
Just tried the kies method but failed. It asked for a recovery code
Cant get it boot too, stuck at Samsung device model logo [ Probably is due to an accident i made by touching "Clean to install a New ROM' wipe option]
Edit : I do not find any 'getprop' in all the assert lines which i deleted
Solved
I downloaded http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/32196/N8020XXUDNE4_N8020SEBDNF1_SEB.zip/ and suceed flash it via odin. I shall bare with 4.4.2 for a moment and sleep
