So I did the latest update (29FEB2012) to UCLA3 from UCKJ2. Of course saved everything, including the cache partition. Strangely the log in the partition names an ICS build. But the UCLA3 update did not touch the UCKJ2 recovery.

You suppose that this last update was just a "test" before any launch? (Showing them that their OTA system still sucks). LOL
Something smells fishy here.
I found 4 public instances of "ro.build.host=scl1nocvm1" on pastebin.com
Pretty sure Samsung devs are not that careless.
The pastbin caches have since been overwritten, but they still show up in a Google search.
well that sure is something...

The I9010 is the Armani Captivate. Looks JUST like the Captivate save for the Armani backplate.

Is the armani the same frequencies as the Captivate or does it match up with the i9000. I wonder if we need to change modems?

The Armani Captivate uses different frequencies, so youll need a Captivate modem. This is a educated guess though.
The captivate matches up to all the frequencies - the Armani just adds 900mhz 3G band. So the Armani modem should work fine on AT&T IF GSMArena is correct:
Armani: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9010_galaxy_s_giorgio_armani-3625.php
Captivate: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i897_captivate-3408.php
Here are the specs on the Armani site:
http://armanisamsungphone.com/samsung/en/index.php?genere=uomo
for those who already flashed im curious to know what the bootscreen looks like, will we keep our original bootscreen (ie rogers or AT&T logos)?
I haven't flashed it yet, but my looking into the tar file, it looks like it will replace your startup logos and such. Can I just pull boot.bin and sbl.bin out then flash using Odin v1.3...anyone know?
I'm hesistant because I don't want to rewrite my bootloader.

So the 3G 1900/2100 is there, but 900 instead of AT&T 850.

First of all, I'm a newbie at this.
I was able to mount factoryfs.rfs in my Ubuntu VM...I'm assuming factoryfs.rfs is equal to being the /system folder.
I want to turn this into a update.zip. Can I just extract and replace the system folder in JH7 OTA by designgears for instance?
I think it contains everything (/data /system /dbdata etc). But yeah you can extract it and then make a .zip Just take a look at the update script in META-INF(in the JH7 OTA for example) for reference. Oh and replace the modem with JK4 or something else because that one might fry your radio. That's never good.

So who's installing this sucker? Could be an epic rom base because it's a very new, doesn't have ATT bloat and stripped features, and may have a kernel compatible with our Captivates. If I knew that it had the new GPU accelerated browser from JPU if would be on it in a heartbeat. That and my lazyness are the only things stopping me.

What? Just use Odin. Put I9010XXJL1-REV00-ALL-low-CL752194.tar.md5 in PDA and whatever modem you want in PHONE. Didn't see the release notes, but you can probably use the 512 .pit and select repartition as well.

NETFLIX on G2x Post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076107
This isn't possible on the G2x unless you're running a custom ROM or a CM Nightly, and messing around in build.prop. Also see this post, it might help http://techland.time.com/2011/05/13/netflix-for-android-workaround/
Build file moved pls help
i moved the build file onto my SD card but now phone doesn't recognize itself and keeps looping rebooting itself on a black screen. How can I get SD card build file back into system folder?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I have CM7, nightly 49 on a G2x (LG-P999). I am able to install the Netflix and Hulu+ apk's from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076150&page=209
I find the Netflix app "works," but the sound is sped up, it sounds as if they were "chipmunks." Everything else appears to work fine.
The Hulu+ App simply gives me a "Device Unsupported" error, but allows me to change around my subscriptions and such.
G2x & netflix
I was able to install the apk successfully however once launched it goes into a black screen and closes out. Any resolution or possible work around would be awesome, no nightly build or rom added,
Hey There,
I have a rooted G2x running EagleBlood FroYo edition and would like to know if netflix works under FroYo. I have altered the build.prop like when I was running CM7 but it just seems to open and then closes.
If anyone had any ideas, it would be great.
Here's what I did. I edited the build.prop file as such:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.brand=HTC
ro.product.name=vision
ro.product.device=vision
ro.product.board=vision
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7a
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi

ro.build.fingerprint=mobile/htc_vision/vision/vision:2.2/FRF91/277427:user/release-keys
I just pasted this over that whole section, on both cm7 and fauxs roms. Then I power cycled. You may have to reinstall swype and a few other apps but then netflix will show in the market. install as usual. I don't recommend on the nighties unless you feel like doing this process every day.

Really, if you just change the "model" and "manufacturer" you should be fine. But you need to edit the prop.build, reboot, THEN install the app. And find and install the latest version of the app, i think it's 1.2.2. I haven't had any issues with chimpmunk voices.... oh and I run cm7 by the way...

This option only works if you are running a GB based ROM correct?
no dude u dont need to change all that... at all just change model=htc-vision .....and manufacturer=htc ...and that is it i do this every time i flash a nightly and it works perfectly and nothing breaks ie, swype etc ...now when u do it make sure u change permissions to r/o then do the build.prop then reboot!, after reboot install the app, then woila!!!

It's easy enough to root your phone, try a GB build and then go back to stock if you want to do so.

I had a pre-release version of the phone with the same everything, except the kernel was dated Mar19th. After rooting it, I got nonstop problems with wifi. (phone would get into a reboot loop if you ever connected to any wifi network)
I had exchanged the phone with HTC, hoping that the replacement would have the current baseband/build/kernel. Unfortunately my replacement had the same everything, but with a slightly newer kernel.
Currently I am stil waiting to hear back from HTC to let me know if there will be an update that updates my baseband, or if they want me to exchange my phone again. I have held off on rooting this one because I'm quite positive it'll have the same wifi issues once rooted.

If you flash KPE only once some issues may appear. For example, you may encounter a black image when you open the camera app. This is solved by flashing KPE twice.

And what does kies do? I don't think it will flash xxkpe two times and then upgrade you to ddlf2, so?

It is better than XXLE4! I used XXLE4 and now flashed to DDLF2. There are a few changes like the swype keyboard which is included is different. (At least looks different). Also, whenever a call arrives, the screen where you answer it is revamped in DDLF2. Instead of rounded rectangles for Accept and Reject which is standard android, you have circular accept and reject buttons. There might be other changes. This is what I observed.
Just a random thought, not sure if I should have started a new thread on this.
I'm presently on miui 2.6.22 or RemICS(switching) and wanted to try this new value pack.
I have a nandroid backup of my stock firmware DDKP2, and would love to restore the same data onto the lf2.
Should I flash kpe twice>lf2>cf root> restore data partition from nandroid
Or directly flash lf2 here.
P.S. Presently I have the XXKPU baseband.

I am skeptical that restoring data from another firmware won't cause problems, but if you have the time, why not . Anyway yea it should be fine. You can even try to flash directly from your rom now.

I am on dhiru's cm9a8 with vurrut kernal. Can I directly flash the zip from recovery or need to use PC Odin for ddkpe->ddkpe->cfroot-lf->bam kernal.
Also can some one plz tell will it be worth downgrading from ics alpha to stock. I m happy with that but minor lags, gpu performance suggests me to downgrade.
Can any one give a link to latest kpe ,pit and latest cfroot with fix and any other file required. I will be very greatful if someone can guide how to downgrade to this value pack and can upgrade back to ics if required..

I tried both but I feel that CM9 is much smoother compare to the value pack... If you need your phone for video recording then I suggest you do a downgrade...
And by the way.. Its "kernel" not "kernal"...
thanks buddy for pointing mistake and a great suggestion .. I will continue to use cm9. Video rec. and other bugs are about to be fixed as soon as KERNEL 3.x releases.
