[Q] Unable to download mp4 files after root? - General Questions and Answers

After rooting and flashing my Optimus T from 2.2 Froyo to 2.2.2, I am no longer prompted with the option to 'Download' or 'Execute' mp4 files from tube sites after I click on the video, in any web browser. I've tried using different browsers like Dolphin HD and Opera mini and the video link I click on will just open the video into my video player rather than ask me if I want to open the video or download it to my SD card to watch later.
Is there a preference that has changed without notice? I'm considering attempting to flash my phone back to a stock rom because I found this feature in the web browser that useful.

[Q] How to create an android app to stream a live streaming 2 my phone without flash?

I am having a app called "Zenga TV AajTak" it used to show a live stremaing of the hindi news channel aajtak..i am having a samsung galaxy fit which does not have flash...but then also the streaming works well...
recently i saw a site "espnstar.com/live/" that streams a cricket channel...when i open it in my mobile's browser it says it requires flash...can i make a app like "Zenga TV AajTak" to watch the stream without flash...
please help..I have never developed a app if you can please develop it...and give me the link...
if you can watch it direct of the web use the Opera browser you dont need flash to stream videos of there browser they convert the video for you so it can be played
It depends how it's streamed. It may be a flash player embedded in the web page that shows the stream, where some sites will just link you directly to a stream so that your dedicated video player can play it instead.
Install Fiddler on your PC and when it's running open the website and watch the video. You should then be able to see in Fiddler's log the URL of the stream that the Flash file plays. You may be able to stream directly from that URL to your phone. If that doesn't work then I'm afraid it's only available through Flash, and quite probably their own Flash player so there would be no way round it.
Alternatively, get in touch with the site admin and ask them how you're supposed to watch the stream when you do no have Flash. They may just give you the stream URL.
If all that fails, try Skyfire browser as that renders the page on the server and then streams it to you so Flash is always available, regardless of your device...

[Q] Streaming video issues since dolphin update

Dolphin Browser HD was updated to 8.0.0 the other day, and prior to that I was able to visit sites like Twit.tv and ipad.tvcatchup.com and it would ask me which video player I wanted to open the stream with
I would normally pick the stock video player and it would play the stream
Now though, its just asking me to save the stream as a file and if I try to open it with any video player, it says it can not play this type of video
I did manage to get twit.tv to work with MX Video Player after finding a new stream link, but tvcatchup refuses to play
Even if I goto the downloads folder and tell it to open with the stock video player it refuses to work
I can't understand why a browser update would stop a video player working though
Stock .17 ICS
Anyone got any ideas? Ive tried different video players and they all fail to play the stream
cheers
Its one of those dreadful 'features' as I've come to find out, downloading the whole video instead of streaming, but it's broken :/ Should be fixed in the next update. If you managed to get ahold of the 8.0 beta instead of the 8.0 public release it should still work as before, its on the web somewhere I'm sure.

I`ll have a hunt for 8.0 beta thanks
Just worked out that telling stock browser to request desktop site allows streaming to the stock video player again but Dolphin I think downloads the wrong playlist file and subsequently the video player doesn't know what to do with it
EDIT - 8 beta does the same thing
EDIT - Found and installed 7.6.0 and all streams are working again

Issue streaming from browser

Hi community !
I'm refering to the huge community here because I have an issue with my TF700 when I'm trying to watch streaming videos on dpstream.net
We I have received my tab, I've directly installed the adobe flash player for ICS package.
I'm used to Chrome, so I installed it. When I was going to dpstream.net, I was able to watch movies without any problem.
Then suddenly (or not suddenly but I can't figure what was the trigger) I wasn't able to watch streaming movies anymore. BUT, when using the stock browser (so not chrome anymore), it was still working.
The problem is that, since yesterday, nothing is working ! Neither Chrome nor the stock browser.
What am I supposed to do ?
For your information,
- I'm able to watch Youtube from the browser (so not using Youtube App).
- I'm able to watch movies on dpstream from my laptop (so not an issue with my account there)
- When I'm clicking on Flash Player Settings (on my TF700 / Applications), it opens a browser but empty (no settings available).
Does someone has a suggestion to solve this issue ?
Thanks in advance !
What format is the video streaming in? If it's divix or avi then I don't know if those can be played through a browser. When I've tried streaming those formats I get a unsupported format icon. I can play flash video streams using stock or boatbrowser. I don't know about chrome as I don't use it. I think chrome does not support adobe flash player so it wouldn't work. You can also try setting the browser to load as a desktop and not a mobile site.

Hi!
Download Dolphin Browser from Google Play.
and then go to:
dolphin lab - search for it in Google
and download flash player
Set flash player as "always on" in settings of Dolphin Browser and set user agent as PC.
You can also download adblock from Dolphin Lab but in some cases you need to disable it (sidebar) to watch a stream.
Without dolphin browser and flash player I dont have any sound as well:/ Maybe somebody will help with this issue? I would prefer to watch streams without flash player (it "eats" my battery really fast) but without sound I stay with the flash player solution. Soon I will have the Lollipop update and it seems that flashplayer no longer works with Dolphin Brower under Android L.
PS. Im not allowed to post external links (I need at least 10 post on XDA forum) so if you have a problem then send me a message.

Thanks fo
Thanks for your reply.I use android stockbrowser for watching live streaming through flash, but i think the quality of video is better playing it by 3rd party media player.I tested also other media players but unfortunatelly no sound!!!Maybe the fault is hiden not in media players, but somewhere else in the decryption of the audio files.

Problem playing videos from NAS

Hi. I have a problem playing videos from my home network storage (I am on android m custom rom / samsung note 3). Previously when I was on Lollipop I could play videos directly by mx player using Ds file apk/ from synology NAS. Right now when I choose some video file it displays it by Opera web browser. Does somebody know how to change it?

Clear the defaults of Opera & in App Links set to ask everytime. if it doesn't fix the issue, Probably it's a rom bug. The bug was there in marshmallow itself. But, later it was fixed by google.
Just uninstall opera temporarily & check again. All missing apps will back to list. You can install opera again.
