Boot Animation(s) - Motorola Atrix 2

Hey all, I've been doing a little messing around with boot animations for the A2.
For those who like the minimalist approach, attached is a simple boot animation where I just looped the stock pulsating motorola logo. I plan on putting together and posting some more elaborate ones when I get the chance.
To install (for those who are not familiar with the process):
1. copy bootanimation_moto_pulse.zip file to SD card
2. using Root Explorer (or the like) copy from SD card and paste to /system/media (make sure you mount r/w)
3. delete the current bootanimation.zip (make sure to save a copy on your SD card first, if you haven't already)
4. rename bootanimation_moto_pulse.zip to bootanimation.zip
5. mount r/o, exit Root Explorer, reboot, and watch the moto logo throb

Another note for the minimalists...
If you completely remove the bootanimation.zip file from the /system/media folder (or mis-spell the file name), you get the nice, clean, and simple default android boot animation..
Also, I think it boots a bit faster with nothing in the media folder...
-----------
Some other useful tools for the boot animakers out there:
-Boot Animation Preview 1.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676385 - lets you preview on your computer)
-Fotosizer (batch image converter/resizer/effecter.. for your computer, obviously - google it) (you can also actually do some batch ops with MS Office Picture Manager)
-Notepad++ (get rid of those pesky hidden spaces - remember to leave the blank line at the end!)
-ZArchiver app (allows for "store" type compression zip files on your phone - i use PeaZip on my PC, others use 7-Zip)
-Hot Boot option on your phone (it just reboots the Android UI only, and allows for a quicker way to check out the boot animation than a full reboot - i use Quick Boot Plus (i think there are other free options on the market)

Well, I have seen a lot of boot animations floating around - many here in various threads on xda, as well as elsewhere on the web - that were either made to fit our phone, resized to fit, or it just so happens that they work on our good ol' Mr. Edison...
That being said, I suggest that we start a collection thread for Atrix 2 boot animations with links or attachments, and for general "theming" related discussion... Maybe it will even attract some creative graphical talent for making custom boot anis with "Atrix 2" and/or "Edison" themes (hint, hint...)
Anyway, here's a few more attached...
___________
Attachments
bootanimation_mod0.zip is one I threw together from various boot animations and I'm not sure who to give credit to, though the final loop is the boot ani from SCV5 (which I think was borrowed anyway - seen it called machinazul) only flipped 180, color removed, resized and slowed down a tad..
bootanimation_bwscv5.zip is the full-length, full-size boot ani used on SCV5 (silver, and flipped)
bootanimation_gears.zip is by JaeKar99, I just rotated and resized it.
bootanimation_ginger.zip is Gingerbread Anatomy by Nottach with artwork by freeny (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076876). I did nothing to this file but find it, look at it, and rename it.

I've attached the original stock motorola/at&t boot animation (bootanimation_origatt.zip) for anybody who may have lost it. I've seen a few posts with people asking for it..
Also attached is what I believe to be the Droid RAZR boot animation with sound file (bootani&sound.zip) - just unzip the zip, stick both files in the /system/media folder and rename the zip (you do not need to include the sound file if you don't want sound)

bootanimation_trondroid0.zip has the Nexus Tron bikes animation (by unknown), but that was too short without a loop section, so I added the particle ring by Dysgenic
bootanimation_shine.zip is a simple android logo with foggy light shining through - don't recall where I found it

bootanimation_ics.zip - the ICS boot (this is the jpeg version - i have a much larger png version with higher quality, but it's too large to post and it seems too large to boot smoothly.. i may mess with it a little more)
bootanimation_stache.zip - see preview here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982286 - I just resized it (and lost the mortal kombat audio)
bootanimation_cm9.zip - CyanogenMod 9 boot ani thanks to Akilldema (see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511501 for previews and diff sizes/speeds - this is the one at 30 fps, you might want to try the 60 fps version)

Thanks! I love the tron!!!!!

Awesome animations!!! Thanks a ton

This link might be of some usefulness, or perhaps not. I don't know what the appropriate ratio size is for the Atrix 2, but there's several tabs at the top of this webpage for: 1280x720, 800x480, 960x540, etc. boot animation .zips! There's some pretty cool looking ones, as well as some novelty-type anims and others.

blue razr atrix 2 bootanimation
Want to make my own bootanimation for our A2, so thought itd be better to know how to go about it by modding an existing one
i like the droid razr one a lot, so tried editing it a bit.. Let me know what you guys think.. cheers
Download link with sound file:
1. Blue Razr with Sound
2. droidsm.ogg
Just copy-paste the bootanimation.zip and droidsm.ogg files to /system/media folder and change permissions to -rw-r--r-- and reboot.
Backup and remove the original bootanimation.zip from /system/media
Edit: the animation was going too fast, so just decreased the fps.
Edit2: Sound is working now, added it from the Razr M bootanimation, which ive posted a few posts down.

I recommend to give GIMP a try (and install the BIMP plug-in) while waiting for Photoshop - it's a great (and free) alternative.

Hi,
I'm doing something wrong or the boots animations doesn't work on stock roms?
I follow the instructions and always get only the "Android" word animation.
Regards.

[GUIDE + TOOL] TO MOD YOUR OWN LOCKRING - NO EXPERIENCE OR CODE NEEDED (noobproof)

I have spent 1 and a half days creating, coding and running batch files in command prompt to ensure this will work for anyone AND ENSURE IT IS NOOBPROOF FOR EVERYONE.
UPDATE: V2 below, see below for details on changes.
The Lockring kit below is Unique to me and there isnt anything like it out there.
Here is my detailed guide to Modding your own lockscreen. LockRing kit i created is attached below and is COMPATIBLE WITH ANY SENSE 3 ROM OR Sense 3 THEME . Also Works for any Sense 3 Device, Sensation & Evo3D
{

THERE IS VERY LITTLE WORK and NO CODING INVOLVED FOR YOU. ALL YOU DO IS
You put your ROM zip in the place ROM Folder - No need to rename
Place your lockring in lockring folder - No need to rename, just make sure its a PNG file not JPG
then collect the finished file in collect recovery zip folder.
See the video guide in post 2 for how to extract lockring and how to use a new lockring
Batch files in the kit will do all the work for you.
Requirements
-Java (Java Runtime Environment) - You need this otherwise your lockring APK will not be signed and prevent installation in recovery.
-271 x 270 Lockring in PNG File Format - Easiest way to get a lockring is to google a PNG image of what you want as. e.g search for Assassins Creed PNG. Quite alot of PNGs come with a transparent background which is what u need.
1st TIME SET UP
Create a New Folder in C:\ called "Lock_Ring_Kit"
Open the lock ring kit zip file and copy all the files and folders into the folder you just created.
Guide to extract a lockring
To extract a theme and/or lockring from another ROM
IF you have seen A lockring on EVO 3d FORUM
IF you have a really cool ROM or theme and you want to take the lockscreen ring out of it.
STEP 1. Place Your ROM or THEME you want to take lockscreen from Place_ROM_ZIP_HERE
STEP 2. Click 1. Extract APKs_FROM_ROM.bat. This will automatically run 2._decode_from_APK
Step 3. Click 3. Extract lockrings (OPTIONAL).bat.
This will put lockrings from the Rom or theme into the extract_lockscreen folder. you can now use this lockring.
And the rest of the files will be placed in Mod_files_here Folder (more about this below)
Guide to mod your own LockRing
STEP 1. Delete any existing files in Place_ROM_ZIP_HERE and Place Your ROM or THEME in the folder. This will be used as a base.
STEP 2. Click 1. Extract APKs_FROM_ROM.bat. .
Once the APKs have been extracted This will automatically run 2._decode_from_APK
*If you have the apks you want to use as a base then just place them in the Place_APKs_FILE_here Folder and click Decode from APK *
STEP 3. Get your Lockring you want and put it in the Place_Lockring_here folder. Make sure your lockscreen image is flipped vertically(mirror upside down image). e.g
Sense uses upside down lockrings to display them right side up. use the 3.0.1 Flip Lockring with FSResizer.exe to flip it upside down if it isnt already.
STEP 4. Click 3.1 Replace Lockrings.bat. This is to replace the existing lockrings with your lockring
Step 5. Click 4. Encode and create recovery zip.bat.
This will Re-encode your lock ring into the APKs, sign them then produce a signed zip file you can flash in recovery
Step 6. Flash your File in clockwork and enjoy.
Additional Features
Mod_Files_Here Folder you can go into this folder and into the default folder or other skins In this folder you can replace the navigation bar in Sense homescreen, also background for widgets and clock numbers etc. care should be taken u replace pngs with the another of the same dimensions.
Backup and Restore allows u to back up 4 different lock rings + Fusion files and restore them anytime so u can work on different ones at different times,
FS resize will allow u to resize your lock ring to 271x270 and also flip it upside down if it isnt upside down. Make sure you flip not rotate!
Download Lock_Ring_Kit v2 or click the attachment below
Replace Lockrings.bat Bug Fixed
BUG FIXED in v2 -->WHEN DRAGGING AN APP TO THE LOCK RING IT WOULD SHOW THE PREVIOUS RING!
Added option to rename lockring zip to whatever you want before it is put in collect here folder
If you get system could not find file error on some occasions, its normal, as i have either asked for it to delete something but the files already deleted
just make sure u follow the process.

But th. What I recommend solidus. download a graphic app. mod a lock ring
271 x 270
Then I'll
have this uploaded later. Just load your ROM. Put the lockscreen in the folder
Run 3 and 4 and flash

Hi guys sorry its late, having a problem where everything would work but when flashing in recovery nothing would happen

does this work to mod the other aspects of a theme (ie, rosie, clock, widgets, etc)? or does it just do the lockscreen? The reason i ask is im looking to port a theme from the evo3d, and i was wondering if this could help.

no need to be sorry we all gotta learn the new stuff at some point.
first dl the image that you want and upload it somewhere like imgur.com (do not upload it directly from computer to xda..this will not work for sigs).
for signature to work go under private message (top right under the Welcome (yourname)).
This will take you to a new page..you will see on the left side there is a "your control panel".
Click on edit signature.
in there put in the DIRECT LINK that you get from imgur.com in the img tags..which goes something like this {img}http://i.imgur.com/LK8vW.gif{/img} where you will need to replace all { and } with [ and ] respectively.
thats it . let me know if you have any questions.
on xda avatars can not be animated..so you will have to select one of the static avatars. hope this helps.
I'll try when I get home btw u can edit ur signature under quick links which is a faster way, thanks a lot for being descriptive.

[BOOT ANIMATION] Rogers=Rooted Bootanimation and Downanimation

Hey guys,
Now that custom roms are running rampant, here are the bootanimation files i promised you.
bootanimation.zip - custom boot animation (white background, red Rooted text)
downanimation.zip - custom down animation (red background, white Rooted text)
Rogers_bootanimationORIG.zip - stock boot animation file (white background, red Rogers text, HTC One X splash screen)
Rogers_downanimationORIG.zip - stock down animation file (red background, white Rogers text)
HOW TO INSTALL
-Once you have a custom rom, copy the bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip files from this thread to your sdcard
-Using Root Explorer or any other Root file browser (or adb, but i guess you wouldnt need to read this...), traverse to the /system/media OR /system/customize/resource folder (depending on your ROM; more than likely the first)
-rename the current bootanimation.zip and/or downanimation.zip files if you wish to keep it/them as a backup. (i usually change the extension to [filename].zip.bak)
-Copy the new boot/downanimations.zip from the SD card to the bootanimation directory
-Reboot the phone to test
-I've also attached the Rogers stock sense bootanimation/downanimation files. Tell me if i need to remove them.
Here are the source images for the custom boot and down files

These are brilliant
Thanks lol. I though so too
I wish I knew what was wrong with the bootanimation.zip though

Hey guys,
Now that rooting the AT&T/Rogers One X is possible, I started playing around with the bootanimation/downanimation to try and customize it to my liking. This is the first time I ever made my own, so please feel free to comment on the lackluster quality
Thanks ( I hit the button to) I have also been playing with these on my ATT version I can get everything to work except the boot up music. On other HTC phones I owned all I had to do was pick a short mp3 file replace and rename the stock one in system/customize/resource folder and reboot. Have you had any luck adding custom boot sound? I used a boot animation and wanted to add a funny quote that would play as the phone booted instead of the lame att jingle and then post it on youtube lol.
EDIT: Figured it out, you have to unzip whatever bootanimation file you want to use and rename the folder inside to ATT and edit the desc file to reflect this change then rezip and install on phone. I'm not sure what the Rogers files are called but anyone wanting to add there own custom music to the bootanimation can!!! thanks again

Hey guys,
Now that rooting the AT&T/Rogers One X is possible, I started playing around with the bootanimation/downanimation to try and customize it to my liking.

TBH I think that the stock ROMs the carriers made have a file somewhere that looks only 4 a specific boot animation. Usually bootanimations are in system\media. I was confused why it was in resource. And yes I did try both.

Kindle Fire Boot Animations by veeman

INTROHey Kindle Fire users,
As some of you know, I recently made a couple of boot animations for the Kindle Fire and many of you liked it. So I have decided to make more boot animations and will post my creations in this thread.
Thanks to despotovski01 for creating Boot Animation Factory and also to Hyperrunner for helping me out.
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Transfer the zip file to your Kindle (Do not unzip)
2) Use ES File Explorer or Root Explorer (or other similar app) to rename the file to bootanimation.zip
3) Use ES File Explorer or Root Explorer (or other similar app) to move the bootanimation.zip file to /system/media or /data/local
4) Make sure permissions look like the following (Thanks to webdroidmt for the tip)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5) Reboot and enjoy
DOWNLOADS
Unfortunately, the file hosting service I used doesn't support zip files anymore (or something ridiculous like that) and all the links just redirect you to the min.us homepage. I have tried contacting them about getting my files back, but unfortunately I've received no response. So it seems that the files are lost forever...

TO DO LIST
• CID Holding Kindle Fire Logo
• Rainbow Mods Boot Animation

Revised version 2 is up for downloading.
Fixed the choppy background. As a consequence, the file size is huge so I left the link for the other version up also.
I downloaded v2 and it is a lighted android not gederom screen

Did you rename it to bootanimation.zip and move it to /system/media ?
I have v2 on my Kindle and it's definitely a gedeROM screen. I can re-upload it if you want.
Nice work.
Great work on the animations. I was wondering if you would be able to make a tweak to the white and blue kindle fire animation though. You have the white line that scrolls through the words, the only problem is you cant see the white scroll through the white text. I was wondering if you can make it so is scrolls blue through the white text and still have it scroll white through the blue text. I think it would look great.

Love your Eyecandy bootanimation. You should make one for Glazed ROM with a donut incorporated in there somehow.

I see that josepho1997 took the incentive and made a tutorial on how to set up everything. I can make one on the specifics of actually making it using an image editing program.

GIMP is a great program but I haven't found a way to export as a PNG image sequence. Which means doing each frame by hand. When you're doing boot animations with 100+ frames, that is a lot of time. With Photoshop you can do the animations and then export as a PNG image sequence.
thanks
bring on that tutorial

Stock Google Edition Look On Touchwiz Based Roms (Bootanimation, Sunbeam LWP & Holo)

Stock Google Edition Look On Touchwiz Based Roms (Bootanimation, Sunbeam LWP & Holo)
I recommend using Omega ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253528) because the theme I'm providing you might cause your device to be stuck at boot.
I don't know how to make flashable zips yet so I recommend you using Root Explorer or any file explorer that will let you change system files.
Lets get started:
First of all, make a Nandroid backup just in case something goes wrong. Then, go to the system/media directory, select bootsamsung,qmg & bootsamsungloop.qmg and copy and paste it somewhere on your /sdcard directory.
Download the Google Edition boot animation below. This is not a flashable zip so don't flash it. Extract it somewhere on your /sdcard directory, then cut and paste the files to your system/media directory. When prompted to overwrite files, press Yes. IMPORTANT: Make sure to change the permissions of the bootsamsung.qmg & bootsamsungloop.qmg files from rw-rw-r-- to rw-r--r-- by holding on the files and clicking Permissions and unchecking Groups - Write. Reboot your phone once you've done that.
Now you have the official Google Edition boot animation. Lets move on to the stock theme. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304251)
Scroll down to Vertumus's second post and go to the download section. Click on 13.06.2013. - v1.3 (Domination v1.3 MDM_ME1_ME2_ME3_MEA_MF3_MF4_MF5_MF8). You will now be directed to his site. Click on Downloads picture then go on Themes, then Domination, then download the latest version which is 1.3. Use the first mirror. After you finish downloading the theme, boot into recovery mode. If you don't have the 4-way boot then power off your device and make sure your device is unplugged. Hold the power button and the volume up button at the same time until you see the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo with blue text on the top left corner. Then proceed to flashing the theme and clear your cache/dalvik-cache just in case. Then reboot your phone
Almost done, now lets download the Sunbeam Live Wallpaper which is provided at below. Copy it to your /sdcard directory then cut and paste it to your /system/apps directory and change the permissions to rw-r--r--.
Now, download Nova, Apex or Holo Launcher. I'm using Holo Launcher since it looks closest to the stock launcher. Nova is probably the fastest out of all of them but I don't like the grey triangles on the app drawer tabs (just my 2 cents).
Optional: There's also a link below for the stock Google Deskclock. Make sure to change the permissions when you move it to the system/app directory.
You now have a stock Google Edition look on your Touchwiz based Galaxy S4!
Special thanks to ::indie:: and the Omega team for the fast, stable and customizable rom and to Vertumus for his amazing Holo theme!
Please thank me if I helped you!
REQUEST: Can someone please make a flashable zip of the Bootanimation, Sunbeam LWP & DeskClock app? Thanks in advance.

I appreciate the time you put in putting a step by step guide together for all of this, and I had always meant to dominate my s4 eventually and your guide actually made me do it as you explained how to do it easily, however I don't think this is the forum for this thread. It should be in themes & apps...and I'm not even sure if it should be a thread because all you are really doing is linking to other peoples work(I'm not saying you're taking credit for anything I'm just saying you are kinda just...well I don't know. Anyways, I appreciate it, thanks.

I'm just sharing my personal guide to making Touchwiz look like a Google Edition rom. I didn't mean to take credit for the other devs work. I also credited them at the end too! And technically, I one of the things I linked was just a recommendation. I tried using Domination with a few roms but they all boot looped and Omega was one of the only roms next to Foxhound that worked with Domination and had the latest firmware. Also, I saw a lot of GE boot animations out there but they were all in zip format which didn't work with Touchwiz roms so I had to look through some GE roms to find a boot animation that was in qmg. format. Thanks for your comment though and I agree that this thread should be in the Themes and Apps section now that you mentioned it.

I didn't say you took credit you gave credit where it was due. I was just saying this thread just kinda belongs in themes and apps that's all lol. I do appreciate the guide though. I have the boot animation working. I just haven't applied the theme yet as I don't feel like removing the few mods I have for Omega as it seems like it's best to do a new install of Omega then flash the theme then the mods, and I literally just updated to 7.0 and got it working how I wanted.

Two v1.3 Downloads
I was following your instructions and after clicking on the first mirror I found 2 different downloads for v1.3.There is one called "Domination v1.3 MDM_ME1_ME2_ME3.zip" and the other is called "Domination v1.3 MEA_MF3_MF4_MF5_MF8.zip". Are there any differences between the two and if so what are they?
