Cookie?.......
Why are you guys so harsh to people that are trying to help out complete ungrateful strangers? Maybe some people have not known about this and is the first time they are seeing this information. Why the negativity?
yea I got it on sep 28th
Yeah, I just got a sprint text message about this. I'm running CM6 though.
I'm in the process of nandroid backuping now, then install a sense rom to update, then nandroid back.
Actually I just got the new PRL 60773 through my phone updates.
Im curious about the people who made fun of the person, as I am new to the forums, where should the post of this thread have posted this thread since you say that he posted it in the wrong area?
Also, I am not running the new PRL either so obviously there are a few people who would find this information very useful.
Hugs and kisses.

I'd guess the "General" section. This area is strictly for development (i.e., ROMs, kernels, etc).
I am sorry if it is a late news. I just got a text message from Sprint with info, so I thought it is a new update. Just trying to be helpful, since I used so much help from XDA forums.

So I want to make an app but have NO experience...are there any tutorials? I want to make simple and advanced apps(maybe for some extra cash? Lol) any help?

Why don't you go to the official android developers page?

Not everyone knows how to find the pages they need. Perhaps provide a link? I assume he hasn't come across that yet since he's asking.

Programming is always hard. I suggest starting with a simple app that has 3 screens and a couple of buttons for interaction and maybe some images.

Do you have any suggestions for staring apps for this

First of all, do you know how to write in Java? Because none of the tutorials I have found include that part. You will find it very hard if you don't! Pick up a book on Java, and read all the way through it first. I found books better than online for some reason. It doesn't matter if the book is a few years old, many of the concepts will be the same.
Then find some beginning tutorials for developing Android apps. I've found a few, and I will update this if I find any more, but here are some:
http://hackaday.com/2010/07/12/android-development-101-–-a-tutorial-series/
http://www.vogella.de/articles/Android/article.html
http://androidwizard.net/ -- Make sure you have a look at the beginner ones first, because there are many tutorials here.
Then if you require more detail, move on to the info at developer.android.com/ as it is more advanced (well its aimed at users who already know a bit).
I would also learn just some basics on how a program flows. It is essential since most programmers know several languages or are able to know how to read code without knowing the syntax. After you get the basics down, look through all the examples given with the SDK and see if you understand it. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I read "Sams Teach Yourself Android Application Development in 24 Hours". It was pretty cheap and they also have a java one. It was a nice start, pretty good explanation of code and space out each part so not overwhelmed.

Should I read the java one first? And where would I get this book? Im just wanting to learn this.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
I only read the android one. I would say read the android one and if you are lost after the second or third chapter, read it again (they are short) and if still not understanding then get the java one. It all depends on you're background and current knowledge...also remember Google is you're friend for words/statements that you don't recognize. Hope that helps, and.you can get book at barnes and noble or borders. It seems to be a common book.
//Excuse all typos as I am most

Thank you I will look into getting that book

got my phone last week and with xda's help i have rooted and rom'ed it.(ok ok i soft bricked it a few times.. yeah i'm a noob) All with just reading threads and stickies. didn't even have to post a question. search is definitely the way to go. read read and read some more the answers are there.
thnx for the great stuff i can do with the phone now.
Great. Another thank you thread. Jk. Lol. I waited a lot longer to root because I was somewhat paranoid to ask a question around here because I might get my ass flamed. I don't use the PC for this site because all the crappy ads make it crawl and searching this site on mobile is horrid. I finally got it sorted and rooted without even a minor blip. Which method did you use and what rom are you running?

Ad Block Plus for FF/Chrome is your best friend. I have never seen a single ad on this site nor any other I frequent.
Agree with the thank you to xda. One of big reasons I went inspire over atrix was the amount of support and development here. It's great messing around with your phone and making it just the way you want it. Having a resource like xda is priceless.

Still. If anyone can recommend any good mods or roms or themes etc it would be appreciated.

Check your serial number, if it's >B70 then it's not rootable. Yes they are working on it but it's been almost 2 months and nothing. Appears to be locked down in hardware and thus not by-passible via the usual tricks of the past. Most likely it's because of DRM if I had to guess.
If your serial is B70xxxxx check it anyway, some of the B70's may be rootable if they still have the older SBKv1 ROM (or whatever it is).
Mine's going back (B80 serial) - it's a dead duck.
I suggest you return it and get something else so you wont clog the forum with the same stupid questions that have been asked hundreds of times.

ya, selfishness and laziness cost us the person that gave us all the tool that actually let us do so much more with our phones not to mention his constant hours of support to help those with problems. xda really should be either a paid membership or invite only. the ppl too lazy to follow rules wont be missed if they cant access the forum. /endrant

It is always sad to see a valued member leave. I wasn't aware of his work as I spend most of my time in the atrix 2 forum.
Are there any other known methods for rooting the inspire? My gfs phone is nearing unusable with the constant reboots. I have yet to find any information on fixing that issue as well. She has only had the phone about a month. Any input would be appreciated.

Well, before rooting is always good to check that the device has no hardware issues. Try doing a factory reset and see what happens. Try pulling the sdcard and see how it behaves for a day.
If is still misbehaving, then take it to warranty....rooting will not fix hardware issues. Then, when u are sure that no hardware issues are the cause of the problems, come and visit us in the IRC channel in my signature...the Hack Kit is still there....

Also if I'm allowed to put my two cents in here... but charge to 100% and as it dies check the percentage if it reboots write down the percent. Do it until it dies fully charge it and repeat. If the numbers match up its the battery I had bought this phone used. It rebooted at 96% and 42%. Got a new battery and no more random reboots
