[Q] Bricking - General Questions and Answers

As a noob I am interested in a lowest common denominator definition for the reason a device "bricks".
The Wicki definition is very good indeed but I'd love your thoughts on an even more direct approach.
Is a phone designed to brick out of the gate by inadvertent and unintelligent use (come hell or high water): or is the device absolutely incapable of not bricking itself no matter how it is developed?

Please help your Moderators, all questions will be moved to Q&A

Imagine yourself you are a Mod and you have to dialy move dozens of threads just because members do not take care of reading what every section is intended for?
We would like to ask your cooperation to make the forum sections the more clean as possible, remember this is General section, and as it describes:
General
Anything that involves all of the phones and doesn't fit in any of the other fora.
All Questions like the recurrent "what phone should I buy" should go to Q&A section, threads will be moved or deleted.
Please help us!
With the number of users that we have on this site, we rely on users to show maturity, self restraint, respect and civility to others, a significant level of responsibility and, above all, to do their bit to engender an environment that is self policing and tolerant. If we all did this then you definitely would not need moderators to come in and clear out the mess every 10 seconds.

Hi all,
Just a reminder that we have now an Android General section where you can place all your general stuff related to the OS.
Remember here at XDA we cover many other OS´s as well.
Please use the new section!

[Q] Soo, Whats the current or upcoming Smartphone pick?

Ive been out of the phone loop for a bit, due to buying a new computer and researching all the parts for that
So im trying to get back into the phone swing of things. My phone is pretty dated and slow. Last time i was around, i had my eyes on the HTC Sensation, tho it appears the Amaze has out done it alittle bit, however word on the street is that phone is on its way out. So this maybe a really broad question, but whats a good phone to pick with the following
* Can work/Does work on AT&T Network
* qHD disaply
* Multi-Core
* Flash (leds)
* Runs Android
I've been an HTC fan for awhile, but have seen some recent complaints. Im also not overly happy with them releasing the phones i prefer, on only T-mobile. I prefer the more rounded ones like Sensation and Amaze, yet they more square bricks are what gets dumped on AT&T (sorry, i dont like the Evo design)
So can anyone offer up some suggestions, current or future, or should i hold off for a while longer?

Well it didnt feel like a "i have a problem, heres my question" thread to me, which is why i didnt post it in the Q&A. I felt it more like a general discussion to gather opinions..
Thanks for scolding me like a child in public tho. I will post every thread that has any kind of question in the Q&A tho from now on. So my apologies.

[Q]Building the perfect android device.

I often wonder about building the one.
But i'm also a realist so here goes.
My description of the perfect android device would be:
-Tegra 3 Chipset. "right now i love this chipset..
-4" screen O-led. 32bit's, 1024 x 640 resolution.
-3200mA cell.. 6400mA sold separately.
-It should have modular connectors on the sides so it can be transformed to a android handheld console with the control pads just sliding into place on the sides.
-Instead of a set of rom chips for the NAND there should be a small removable SDD drive. "way faster and makes swapping roms a breeze"
-Must run ICS all source must be fully open.
-No locked BL
-Must have: Hdmi out&in, audio out&in, USB 3 controller, multitouch and usual Gsm/2G/3G/4G/Wi-Fi/BlueTooth support.
Compatibility, Stability, Performance, Battery Life, Support.
^^^
All these conditions should be met with the highest respect.
Result profit.
Let me keep dreaming.
The reason why i posted here i want to hear opinions of other software AND hardware developers with out 4chan down there having a field day.\
I'm up for intelligent debate.

It was less of a question and more a discussion.

[Q] How/why do you collaborate?

Hi,
I'm just want to know a bit about everybody here and the whole app development community in general.
Why do you guys come to the forum?
I'm part of a few open source forums, and I feel they are different than the ones here... in the sense that there is no central project to it.
So I was wondering why and how people come here and whether there is any type of cooperation that takes place...
in other words, do you guys think you work together and help each other out?
and if so, in what way?

erm...thanks. Sorry for that.
The thing is that I was going to change the title to discussion rather than question. but wasn't able to.
I really wanted it as a discussion more than anything else.
But thanks for moving it anyhow.
I've personally joined this forum for the huge amount of information on here supplied by very knowledgeable members.
It does make posting here very hard, as:
1-If you search the forum, the answer is definitely somewhere to be found
2-There's always a senior member here to help solve your problems or point to in the right direction

and what sort of information are you looking for.
Is it something specific, like a problem with your device.
Or is it general, like hints and tips, or tutorials?

[Q] How is it official software ROMs actually leak out?

You would think employees would be scolded for that.
I think its because the manufacturers either release them for the public developers to appear, or because they always stick them on a public domain.
Either way, I don't think they mind as much, its not like they can just be flashed straight on the phone unless you knew what you were doing, in which case you would know your warranty would be void anyway.
