[Q] Device to device file share using WiFi - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

1. Is there any app which allows creating WiFi connection, So that we can connect other devices or Computer's to it, other than using WiFi hotspot option.
2. Is there any app which allows direct file sharing from one device to another without using existing WiFi connection (Created using wifi modem/computer), by creating its own WiFi.

I currently have Wifi File Transfer. Free App. you can check it out.
Without Wifi...not really sure...haven't seen any.

I use this https://market.android.com/details?...mNvbS5kb29ibG91LldpRmlGaWxlRXhwbG9yZXJQUk8iXQ..

you can transfer files via bluetooth(ics) without the need for a separate app.

I need speedy connection. And data transfer.
Bump allows file share in wifi, but it wont create wifi connection.
What I need is a tool to create adhoc wifi network. Or one which does both creating network and file sharing.

[Q] Does this device supports Direct WIFI?

Hi.
I would like to share files with my Galaxy S II which supports Direct WiFi.
However, I know that at the moment there's no such option in TF101.
Will there ever be such an option?
Or is there another way to use my WiFi bandwidth to share large files between two Android devices?
I have the Nexus S and i downloaded a Bluetooth file sharing app to do most of my transferring.
What are you trying to do specifically?

I looked up direct wifi in wikipedia. It looks like only one device needs to be direct wifi because you gs2 will create its own access point. Your tf should connect via ad-hoc protocol.
For example, I don't have direct wifi on my gs1 but the tethering program creates its own soft access point and my tf conmects using ad hoc and I can get internet.
Once you connect the tf to your gs2 I imagine you would need a file manager on both that would support some sort of cifs link, smb, or other method so you could see the directory contents of the phone and tf. EStrongs file explorere may be a good start.

I'll try that app.
I only seems logical that if I can tether with SGS2, then they should be able to share files.

{REQ} File transfer via WiFi Android to Android

HI Guys .
I am looking for an app for android that can transfer files between android phones using WiFi.
As at work we some times need to transfer large files between phones. Bluetooth is too slow and it is a pain connecting the phone to a PC uploading the file then downloading the file to new phone.
Any ideas on this would be great. As this would save masses of amounts of time. Also it would need to be a direct transfer between phones as we have no router to connect to at work.
Thanks in advance
Jonathan
File expert has the option to share a file via wifi when you long press on a file. I can't test this phone to phone as I only have one Android handset here at the moment. Give it a try.

Well, I think the simple is better. So why don't use FTP? As its name says is a File Transfer Protocol
I do use FTPServer, then if you're in Windows, you can use "Filezilla" as client. Maybe, you could thinks is much _effort_. But it's worth it.
Regards~
So far, the best and easiest app existing is fast file transfer -

[Q] Wifi Transfer Full Directories

Anyone aware of an Android wifi transfer app that will move full folders without having to manually recreate the directory structure on the device?
I've tried AirDroid and Wifi File Explorer.
Thanks in advance.

Oh right... I had a sort of tunnel vision thing going on and was focused on wifi browser based apps. Completely overlooked actual Android file managers. Only downside is having to setup a samba share type deal on my Linux box.
Thanks.
Another option is SwiFTP. It works fine in Linux.

you can use es file explorer. just make sure file sharing is set upp on the computer so that you an access it from the network, then connect to the same network and put the ip address of your computer in.
I have used WiFi File Explorer from Play store with decent success. Free version restricts number of simultaneous up/downloads. I still prefer to hook up phone, much faster speeds and bonus of charging at same time.
You can use Zumocast if you have XP or Motocast if you have Windows 7. Keep your computer running and that will give you access to your files from anywhere. Stream or download. For upload/downloading over wifi, you can use Motorola Phone Portal (uses Internet Explorer in Windows for file management). Zumocast and Motorola Phone Portal come pre-installed on the Atrix 2. Motocast is new. It's very much like Zumocast, Win 7 or Vista only. Hope that helps!

this is probably the easiest way.
You could possibly set up samba on the phone and then connect from the pc-> phone, but that's a lot more difficult.

[Q] Transfer File using Wifi Direct

Is there any way to transfer files using the inbuilt wifi direct. Wifi direct in Xperia C shows the connect option but does not have the share option. While Googling I found it can be connected through Office suite. But its not always possible that the other device too has office suite installed. Please suggest me a way out ?

use superbeam or es file explorer
There are many applications that you can use to share files like
1) Flash Transfer
2) SuperBeam
3) Wi-Fi Shoot etc.
You can use these apps to transfer data using Wi-Fi Direct but whatever app you use should be installed on the device which is receiving and on the device sending files
