[Q] Wifi Transfer Full Directories - Android Apps and Games

Anyone aware of an Android wifi transfer app that will move full folders without having to manually recreate the directory structure on the device?
I've tried AirDroid and Wifi File Explorer.
Thanks in advance.

Try FileExpert, is free

Oh right... I had a sort of tunnel vision thing going on and was focused on wifi browser based apps. Completely overlooked actual Android file managers. Only downside is having to setup a samba share type deal on my Linux box.
Thanks.

Another option is SwiFTP. It works fine in Linux.

Any programs to transfer files from desktop to EVO via wifi?

I was hoping someone could recommend me an app that will allow me to transfer files from my desktop PC to my EVO (non-rooted) via my home WiFi network?
Thank you for your help,
Whiteice
Have you ever heard of Dropbox? It's not quite as simple as what your asking for but works nicely with the Dropbox app for Android.

Thank you for the suggestion dusting17.
How secure is this Dropbox? I could have used this a few weeks ago before my laptop crashed. I have sensitive info that was on there like my resumes and stuff.
Thank you for your suggestion,

SwiFTP FTW
But in your case, may DropBox be better because you don't need to download or backup to your phone: it's all on the cloud.
Hey... suggestion...
Awesome Drop does an amazing job as well, I use it for most of my transfers. requires no software on pc side, and one app on phone. does a great job. then you can open the files in any app on your phone.

ES File explorer
SMB, FTP, and BT transfer
ES File Explorer + connectify is great couple
or you can try MyPhoneExplorer
I use dropbox to transfer files from PC to phone or vice versa. gotta say this app works like a charm.

Doesn't dropbox actually store ur files on the net? Therefore your using data allowance? I use dropbox for files I want to access from other computers or phones outside my home network. Otherwise "my phone explorer "is the best I've found just need the programme for ur PC aswell and the it's just like connecting USB but over wifi. And faster than dropbox because ur not using data just ur home network!.
My 2 cents anyway.

It has an HTTP sharing feature that I use a lot. It basically starts a simple file server and tells you a URL. From there, you can upload/download through your browser on your computer.

and slow as hell
A little late, but I am a huge Dropbox fan as well.
a kernel with CIFS support and the CIFS Manager app. It lets you mount a windows share on your device and lets any app access it as if it were any other folder on your SD card. Love it.
Haven't tried any of the others mentioned but Dropbox is easy and quick.
Keeps your files synced between computer and phone, backs up a copy online on their secure server so you can view it on another computer if needed.
Kind of old, but HomePipe is a fairly nice app.

File sharing with PC thru wifi?

Simple question: since I have my wifi coming from my PC, can I somehow file share from phone to PC? Linda manager has a Network option, so I think this is possible.
Thanks.

Use Software data cable on the android market......it does just want u want to do....
I see samba and that's well and good to go from PC to phone, but I was interested in pulling up PC network from my phone. I haven't seen that option with any of these programs.

I haven't tried it, but ES file explorer has a network option as well. You'd likely have to know how to set up your computer so that it can "talk" to other computers, in this case your phone, on the network. It's not hard, and I think you could use windows network setup wizard to get you rolling. I'm a little rusty in that area unfortunately, of you don't use it you loose it.

Is that phone to PC? NOT PC to phone
My bottom line is that I want the option to access my computer from my phone.

So what exactly are you looking to access on your PC? If you want to access storage then there is sure to be an app that does that, which is what I would think ES can do, it looks like you have multiple settings for type, even looks like maybe an ad-hoc mode as well. Otherwise, if you're looking to control the PC, I think Team Viewer can do it, I never got around to setting it up PC to PC though but I would think it would work with the app.
I'm using a small FTP server on the phone. It's called SwiFTP. Does an amazing job.
I don't really have a specific purpose, I just want to know if the functionality exists. There has been times I download torrents with my phone, then I have to go plug in and transfer. I'd rather transfer wireless since I'm already using wifi from the PC.
Yea, I'm being lazy, but still.

Also AirDroid in the Market will transfer via WiFi from phone to PC and PC to phone using your web browser on your PC.
I have File Expert, works great with PC to phone via FTP. But the program has to function to go from phone to PC.
Sure, sitting on my computer I can swap files back and forth. But on the phone all I can do with the program is turn on the file sharing, can't actually do the swapping from phone.

I use ES File Explorer. From my phone I can browse shared files on my PC. I can also copy files from my PC to my phone. Files can be shared via WiFi or Bluetooth.

File sharing between android devices

Hi
Yesterday I have come across a beautiful app called SperBeam which is used for file sharing between android apps.
I am able to transfer 1GB data(videos and photos) from my samsung galaxy s3 to asus transformer infinity tablet in 6 minutes. Thats awsome.
This software uses wifi if it is available, or else wifidirect technology.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
no results on google play for "sperbeam"
sounds interesting though...
edit: its "superbeam"
Thank you
Great find. Thanks for the share.

Why not simply use your PC's file manager via MTP?
What do you mean by that? Use the usb cable?
I still feel all these P2P file sharing apps are clunky and not consumer-friendly. That said, I'm going to fix that...I'm building an app called Drop, and it is a simple, fast, and secure way to share files with people/devices in proximity over WiFi Direct. It is going into a limited Private Beta soon, so if you're up for the challenge, (and running Jelly Bean) then sign up at www.get-drop.com. Seats are limited, and we have a rolling enrollment, so check it out.

Thanks Whatisreal. I just signed up. There are tons of file sharing apps in the app store, but they all look like they were made by engineers who know how the inner plumbing of your phone works, and they expect you to know too. I'm a casual user, and I'm looking for something that works for "everyone", not just the propeller heads! Kind of like Apple's approach (putting flame suit on..)
Sorry for bumping this old thread. But I am using esfile explorer to transfer files between pc and my phone/tablet using wifi. They are connected to the same wifi. But though I am able to transfer between tablet and pc or phone and pc. I am unable to do the same between phone and tablet. Of course I can install this superbeam for the same but I just wanted to know if it is possible by using esfile explorer. Also can I transfer files using wifi direct(ie without using the common wifi modem) using esfile explorer?

I use wifi file transfer - ttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antosdr.wififiletransfer&hl=en
ES File Explorer uses this as a plugin so I can select multiple files or folders then take the option in ES to "share" and then share via wifi file transfer, you just need to have the app installed on both devices and make sure the receiving device has wifi file trasnfer running and recady to receive
The other option I use for files that arent huge is dropbox and gogole drive - again ES File Explorer can plug into those for easy upload and download
Actually ES File Explorer has the ability in itself to create a wifi file sharing hotspot. I just couldn't find it before. Now after some tries I finally got it to work. It doesnt require an external wifi(modem). ES file itself creates a wifi server (similar to bluetooth) to which other devices can connect and share files.
I've found an app called shoutr, that's available in the Google Play Store and at shoutr.net, that lets you share between devices without even having to have internet or WiFi access, pretty convenient!

What methods are there to transfer files PC to phone using Wifi?

I use PushBullet to move files through wifi when i'm at home but It seems to limit at 25MB. Is there a similar method or something not much more difficult method to send larger files?

I usually use Airdroid. There's no file size limit if your devices are on the same network. It also supports remote connections, but there are limits there.
I use solid explorer but any files manager that supports samba shares (es, astro etc)

ES File Explorer also works well and is completely free.
I did say ES

I have always used AirDroid and never had a problem both in the application or size restrictions. I've moved 200+MB files before without any issue. Best part is that sometimes it is even faster to use then USB and we all know how fast USB moves in Windows.
Es works fine, I dropped airdroid for droidoverwifi

personally I'm doing it old school way using FTP, I recommend a simple app "FTP Server"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mbapp.ftpserver Works great and doesn't have a size limit
Try ShareIt
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lenovo.anyshare.gps&hl=en(For Android)
shareit.lenovo.com/(For PC)
Anyone that already uses ES file explorer on their device can use it for this purpose, why install another app if you already have one that will do the job.
ES File explorer has many capabilities that the majority of the community overlooks. It is much more than just a file manager, its a complex tool once you look below the surface.
Share It is a good app which lets you transfer between your phones and system easily. Sometimes the speed might be an issue, but apart from that, the app has done a pretty good job whenever I have used it.
Re: Some method I have used
For bulk transfer, I would use Wifi Direct.
But as a developer I have to transfer multiple outputs to my pc, for that I am using Push bullet, which let you transfer the notification data to your pc so that you don't miss anything. You have to signin to your gmail and open the application on PC and sharing will be done. The good thing is no sync and connection issues have to take care of and everything is properly transferred and ready to use. Everytime an notification came, it is in my PC testing database.
