Ok, I can't find the post that asked for details about the TV Out cable, but mine arrived today, so I've attached a few pics of it in action.
When you plug the cable in, you're asked which type of output you want to use (PAL or NTSC). Once you choose, the device forces itself into landscape mode and displays the "Video Out" screen with four shortcuts (Powerpoint, Pics & Vids, Internet, YouTube).
You can choose one of the shortcuts, or just go to the Start Menu - everything is mirrored on the TV screen. I used Coreplayer to start playing an XVid of "Be Kind Rewind". There was a bit of flicker when using the "Qtv Display" option, but the "DirectDraw" option was flicker free, and worked flawlessly. No slowdown or judder at all with my 700Mb file, and the picture quality on the TV was surprisingly good.
Programs like YouTube which have to be displayed in Portrait mode, and pictures displayed in portrait mode are shown with black bars on the sides of the TV screen, while the device just rotates itself back to portrait mode.
Opera looks good on the big screen too, there's a picture of the BBC homepage, with plenty of small text, which is certainly more readable on a 32" screen than it is on a 2.8" screen...
Any questions, ask away, but I think it's pretty self explanatory...
Edit: One more thing. While I was taking these pictures, I received a call. Pressing the "Answer" button put the phone in Speakerphone mode, with the audio routed through the TV - very good quality it was too.
Cool, thanks for posting. I was hoping to hold out for a while, but I think I might have to jump on one of these whenever they are released in the US. Hopefully the CDMA version isn't too crippled compared to the GSM version. I'd switch to a GSM carrier, but I only pay $30 a month for 500 minutes, unlimited text/pic messages, unlimited data, etc. AT&T just can't beat that.
Great shots!!

Dude...I don't know if it's your TV or the camera you're using but these shots are AMAZING!
It looks like I'll be able to sell my projector and do my PPT presentations straight from the TP.
Can't wait!! Thanks for sharing!

The TV's over two years old now, but I still haven't found one that gives a better picture (annoying - because I'm trying find a 42" upgrade).
Camera was just a Nokia N95 that I have to hand, and the pics were shrunk to get them below the forum posting limit.
When you plug it can you touch the TV instead of the phone screen?
JK of course!
Very good quality, even web browsing looks very decent! Where did you buy the cable, and how much did you pay?
The dreaded Expansys, I'm afraid:
£16.99 for the cable
£8.49 for a 3.5mm headphone adapter
£4.06 for delivery
£10 off with a voucher
£19.54 total
I think they make up the delivery prices as they go along?!
Was really worried what the performance would be like when playing videos as I read alot it's mainly for presentations.
Now, I feel ok with the upcoming purchase
Thx man
This is the first device in ages where using DirectDraw in CorePlayer doesn't mean stuttering and page tearing to at least some extent.
And there's no need to worry, performance doesn't alter at all when the TV cable is plugged in.
It can only be a good thing that you can plug the charger into the TV cable though, because the screen stays lit on the device while you're watching through the TV. For a two hour movie, I'm pretty sure the battery would take a big hit...
That is so amazing! Do you think you can post of shot of you going through a PowerPoint presentation?
WOW! that's really awesome. I can make use of that.
The Raphael, Is A Must Got To Have Mobile Device
This is the reason that I have to have this mobile device, the Raphael a superior highly enhanced mobile device, revealing yet to be now technology, TV out, nice photos guys, yeah..........!
Can you try to do remote desktop on your touch pro?
What is the tv-out resolution? is it 1024 x 768?
Does it has vga-out?
thanks.

I'll give remote desktop a go on Monday when I'm back at home.
No idea what the output resolution is, but I'd be surprised if it was anything other than 640 x 480, the image on a widescreen TV appears to be stretched slightly to fit the width.
It's just composite, not VGA. I guess you could try using a VGA cable from an HTC Advantage, but I have no idea if that'd work...

Said three days when I ordered too, but it turned up the next day. Postman was knocking on the door about 30 minutes after I got the e-mail to say it had been despatched...
Does anyone make a mini usb to 15 pin cable? I know you can buy mini usb to RCA cable and then a RCA to 15 pin cable.
I'm wondering because then you could connect Raphael directly to a projector for Power Point presentations for business.

HTC make one for the Advantage. As I said a couple of posts ago though, no idea if it'll work on the Raphael...
Video
Is there any chance we can get a video shot of the performance on the video out? I'd love to see if it would actually be worth it to use as a video player on the road?
Thanks good job!
Finally a reason why I would put a full lenght movie on my phone. Watching movie on a 2.8 inch screen is dumb. It's only for show. Now, With the tv output, I can put 4 movies and watch in anywhere there's a tv. Even on my Mini van's 12 inch lcd.Whooohooo!!

I'm sure it's gonna perform OK. The phone's resolution is 640x480. A dvd quality is 720x480 so It will look fine fasho.
Anyone else seen this?

Yep. The US variants of the Galaxy S do Micro USB to HDMI out. Unfortunately, there are no cables available (yet) in order to have that kind of functionality. Samsung is planning to release that one.
we sell a USB to DVI /VGA ADAPTER for about $79. http://www.encore-usa.com/us/sites/default/files/product_file_datasheet/ENMUV-2_Spec_EN_1.pdf

The Samsung one is $49 bucks (US) I think. Just wait I'm sure there will be a Chinese knock-off soon enough for pennys on the dollar.

So assuming this weren't back-ordered, it would work on the captivate to say... watch movies?
Someone has to try it and see how it works. The Composite on the Captivate (headphone jack) is mirroring of the entire device UI.
But some other devices that use HDMI only allow certain apps to output to it, like the built in Samsung movie player. I think this is for copyright reasons. I am not sure what copy protections are built in but HDCP would be needed to play back licenenced Hi-Def videos like Blueray format.
Your own videos / downloaded ones / ripped correctly bluerays, etc. should all play in Hi-Def okay. There are still unanswered questions, but it seems like this cable will allow movies to be played back w/o issue.
I am getting one as soon as a 3rd party one hits the streets as it will probably be cheaper.
I'm not quite sure what tv out is, but I was wondering how I can connect my phone to my tv and view through my tv any content on my android phone. I have a mytouch 4g slide. For example, could I view the internet on my TV through my phone? Any help is greatly and desperately appreciated.

The MT4GS does video out through its headphone jack. The pinout is the same as the cables for 5th Gen iPods, the one I have is the "Composite Video/Stereo Audio Output Cable for Original 5th Gen Apple iPod Video - 6ft" from monoprice for $1.43 (don't post enough here to link). It works well enough - the image quality is obviously only what you can get out of composite, which isn't great by modern standards, but it's fine for playing SD video or the like. The normal screen stays active, and the content is mirrored to the TV when connected.

i'm pretty sure it was advertised as 1080p playback. is this the only way to use tv out? maybe i'm wrong but i thought i saw this comment somewhere, which is why i was confused because this phone has no mini hdmi out like the g2x

Btw marco its a complete mirror of your phone. And when its flipped side ways it goes full screen or when an app is opened it goes full screen really cool!

Here is the link to the original thread about this topic. The mt4gs records in 1080p, the tv out is not, nor have I ever heard the claim that our phone would out put at 1080p.
I have the iPod cable from Amazon. It works, quality is meh on a 1080p LCD, but it's good enough to share funny YouTube videos at a party or what have you.
It also works great with netflixs.
Could someone point me in the way of a good quality low cost HDMI adapter for my Galaxy Tab 8.9?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I've had the same problem. I've searched almost whole Internet and couldn't find any... Even on chinese stores price of HDMI adapter is huuuuge... I think that it's because of some kind of electronics inside of this adapter... So you have to find discount price or try to find and buy used one from someone...
Best Regards
BTW. I would like to ask present/past users of Samsung tablet. Does anyone have such adapter for sale?

Best price which I've seen in my country was arount 30 US $
brumovs 4.400
Thanks - and do they all need external power to work? I think the official Samsung one does?
UPDATE: OK, so I picked up the official Samsung HDTV adapter (EPL-3PHPBEGSTD) up for €30 in Madrid in El Corte Ingles. (Also saw it for about £20 from Expansys in the UK)
So this adapter only mirrors the tablet's screen - there is no way to put a movie/slide show on the external screen and browse the web at the same time on the tablet?
Also, when I play a YouTube video it automatically enlarges the video on the TV whilst keeping the YouTube page with a small video (in the corner of the tablet screen). However it looks like you can't browse for another video without losing the one you are playing. It is a shame if you can't treat the TV as a second screen as with a laptop

The way I do it is through DLNA / All Share but it requires a few things. If you have a movie downloaded in the tab, just open the app "all share", select the TV (your TV needs to support DLNA or at least be connected to a router that allows DLNA) and then you can stream the movie to the TV and do other things with the tab.
I don,t think it will work with the slides because all share only works with pictures, music and movies but never tried it.
Picked up a Nexus 7 and I'm in love again. Real shame Sammy never came through with updates. Still love my Galaxy s4 too, but...found a good use for my Plus.
Bought the HDMI adapter and hooked it up to my TV. Our TV provider has an app to watch any channel through a Tablet or PC. Tried Chrome Cast but they don't support it, bastards!
Picture is great, and I don't have to rent the cable box to watch HD or access the DVR. Payback is only about 6-7 months, and can move it to any room easily.
Just a thought....

I am thinking about using my in my car...I have a Hyundai Genesis Coupe and the install is pretty simple. Just a $40 navigation bezel and some double sided tape to hold it in place. Power would be wired in and charge via 12v car power.

Great idea - been looking for an excuse to spring for a N7. Or might try a Chromebook (real keyboard is handy).
Cable box is just another added cost to jack your bill. Still liking my little GT7+ a lot, still.
