Hey guys I have a mytouch that my friend gave me that was exsposed to water. It will boot up to the splash screen and stay there, it seems almost like software issue. With that being said I was wondering what advice you could give to get it working I'm thinking I could flash a new Rom on there and see if that works, the issue is is that it is still s on and I work more with the vivow is there anyway to to s off without booting and install clockwork recovery any help would be appriciated thanks -golgotha

If he's got insurance send it in... If not find a local cell pnone repair, there on craigslist usually you can find someone to fix it no problems.

Here is a little secret I will let you in on. This coming from experience on fixing phones. Do this.
1st disassemble the phone. You may need a t5 or t6 screwdriver. Don't need to seperate the digitizer from the bezel. Just strip it down so you can access the circuit boards.
2nd get a very copious amount of isopropil alcohol and a small brush. There will also be a part of the main board that has a metal cover over it. Pry those off carefully. Once you stripped it down, brush the alcohol over all of the circuitboards and connections. What this will do is break the corrosion off the circuits. Believe me it is there even though you can't see it. Let the phone sit for about a day so that it can be completely dried.
3rd reassemble and then power up. It should work like it is new.
I did this twice in the last month. Once to a iPhone 3gs (it was my brother's I wouldn't have done it otherwise) and a mytouch 3G slide. Both worked like New afterward.

what is your hboot version? if it is 1.44.0007, have you tried running Revolutionary to S-OFF? i am not sure if it would work tho if you can't boot into the system.
your other hope is to flash the newer stock firmware file, and at least be able to boot into the newest stock ROM. after that you you wouldn't be able to S-OFF, but you could use the HTC unlock tool, and be able to root, and flash ROMs. if it comes to this, try the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508406, dowloading the stock firmware file and flashing it as instructed there.
hopefully this helps ya.
Believe me it's not a software issue. It's a corrosion issue. You can load all the software you want and it will still mock you. The mytouch 3G slide acted the exact same way. Once brushed it with alcohol it worked like new.

yeah, i guess we were writing at the exact same time. i thought maybe it sounded like a bootloop, although you generally don't get bootloops if you haven't rooted and flashed something wrong. and water damage probably wouldn't lead to a software issue.
but anyway, hopefully the device can be made to work again. thanks for the tips!

Regardless of rom, hboot, etc, it does this intermittently. Has anyone else experienced this??
Sometimes power off goes to sleep of death and requires battery pull. Sometimes reboot turns it off. Even all stock it did this.
Very strange.

Duff device, take it back and get it replaced.
You shouldn't have to put up with a device that doesn't work as it's meant to.
The more people who return faulty items, the more pressure there is for HTC to improve their quality control and so get the factories to improve their game.
I have the same problem. It looks like faulty devide, after 6 phones from htc this is the first one having issues for me
Happened to me too, I went ahead and asked for help here on xda..... Nobody answered to my questions, so regardless of Rom, kernel the phone was constantly dying on me whenever I needed it the most.
I bought a battery from eBay, one with a 1900 mAh, it's branded Anker.....put it in the phone and since then NO MORE PROBLEMS.
Now I don't know if this is the case for you, but I think that 12 dollars its not too much to invest to try.
Good luck to you

Does anyone know how to turn S back on?
I encountered a strange issue yesterday when my phone just became dead and wouldn't respond to anything. I tried pressing the power button, tried removing the battery but no go. I knew the battery was about 70 % when this happened but I still plugged it into the charger and the LED wouldn't come on either. I even tried a different charger. ADB wouldn't detect it at all when plugged into the computer.
I then took the battery out again and about 5 minutes later put it back in and this time it turned on.
I've S-OFF and I am on 4.0.0.9 recovery. I would like to go back to complete stock with S-On in case this thing is hardware related and I have to send it for a replacement.
Any ideas?
Honestly just send it back as is. They don't look for that kind of stuff. I've sent back over 12 s off devices and never got charged for one of them. So you should be good to go.

I would also like to get S-on again. I have the Sensation and there is a method for it, but it's said you can brick if done wrong. My wife has the MT4GS and I have it S-off, but it is having issues. Hopefully someone can come up with a method before too long.
Running the stock PD59IMG gets you back to stock, but still s-off.
If there is no way to turn S-ON then I shall have to take a chance with sending it back as is.
Undead did you send it through T- Mob or directly to HTC ?

On a side note, have anyone else noticed these kinda issues. Could it be a side effect of revolutionary?

My phone has always gotten hot below the battery where the sim card is when I make it do work or charge it. I guess thats why they put what looks like thermal tape on the cover above that area.

Placebo affect in reverse, it gets hot, thus the added heatshield on the plastic back cover, you want a thin fone but are upset when they feel the heat of the processors.... Dont blame every hiccup as a result of root/s-off.
Your phone will run faster, save battlife, and someday (if we can get back some of the system partition) that was bloated with tmob crap

What I did with all the free space I got on my system partition was put all the apps there that I wanted on my phone that will run from system.
Some won't, like Google Earth, amongst others, but most will. Count on no games being able to run from system.
I didn't use all the space freed by removing what I consider to be bloatware, but I did save a bunch of space elsewhere on my phone by putting what I could in the system partition.
When making a phone call on this phone the screen will become black ( assuming from the proximity sensors like normal ) but it won't get off the black screen unless i slide up the keyboard or reboot phone.
Also camera will randomly not open and just keep closing when i try to launch it.
Any help will be appreciated.
Hey tylermaciaszek, good to see you here with this phone, haha. What ROM are you running, have you rooted yet? I haven't experienced either of those bugs, or even heard of anyone having them I don't think. Is your phone brand new?

The problem is not software, so the OTA update isn't his problem. You've got an unlucky friend, I guess. He's going to have to get an exchange.

My 4 buttons and track pad on the front of the phone don't seem to respond anymore.....thought it might be the rom but I reflashed clean install and still didn't work....I even switched roms and nothing. The only time they respond is when I slide the keyboard about half way to where u can only see the bottom letters of the keyboard, they work perfect at that point...any ideas for a fix or anywhere I could get them fixed?
I do believe I have insurance with asursion or whatever they are called but I don't want to get the new hboot....right now I have s-off and everything. What are the chances they send me a completely different phone but something on par with its specs....like a sensation or sgs2 or something in that sense?

This sounds like a hardware problem. The fact that you can get the buttons to work at all is encouraging. This phone has a fairly elaborate flex cable that connects those buttons and various other things together. You can get replacement flex cables (eBay for $35-40), but taking this phone apart is quite a *****. Unless you are experienced at working on hardware on phones, you probably don't want to even try it. There are 3rd party services that do this kind of repair, but most I've seen seem pretty expensive.

Hey Guys, I finally got my Sensation back from repair, of course its completely stock now. I sent it to repair because Vibration didn't worked anymore. I thought it could be possibly got cracked by myself applying s-off with junoptobear (i don't have any idea if its correctly written). Do you have any experience with that?

Edit: My Sensation is a Vodafone Germany branded Device with ICS (4.0.3)
different roms have different settings for the vibration feedback, but if your on stock then maybe your phone is still broken? or it works fine now? also make sure haptic / vibrate feedback in settings is checked.
I think you got me wrong, it got repaired and its working now but I don't know how it broke. There are 2 reasons I could think of why vibration broke, the first one is that datrepair (german HTC repair partner) ****ed up the vibration while repairing the cracked screen on my device before it was rooted or myself applying s-off. I don't know if it worked before because I didn't really used the phone before.

I suspect it was the screen repair that caused the issue. I recently went through juopunutbear to S-OFF my replacement/replacement phone. I can't see how that process would have screwed it up.
No. S-off did not break your vibration.

I thought it could've broken the hardware (the wire-trick). I did it like described on one of the pins and the sd casing (I'd say I did nothing wrong because it was s-off after that). So my exact question should be: Could the wire trick possibly damage the vibration motor? I'm sorry that I was not that precise.

the wire trick technically does grounding on that pin ..which takes the phone to download mode for some time after first tap and then back to normal with the next tap..thats all ..i dont see any way that can dmage the vibration motor ...and afaik i havent seen any facing this issue after SOFF
Thats what I wanted to know, thank you, I'll s-off my device again with no fear.

I can confirm 100% that after screen change motor stop work in HTC Sensation. Maybe different part revision, wich i doubt is the case cuz replacement part is working fine and picture is perfect.
What is funny, i try fix this vibration problem after screen change for a few days now, replaced with new on PCB at the end just to see that it isnt workin again
By accident, when i got call i drop phone on table, maby 5cm height drop, and vibration start working for few sec then stop again, and it always go on if i hit phone at time when it should be working.
Still havent found solution to this.
