Does anyone know how to turn S back on?
I encountered a strange issue yesterday when my phone just became dead and wouldn't respond to anything. I tried pressing the power button, tried removing the battery but no go. I knew the battery was about 70 % when this happened but I still plugged it into the charger and the LED wouldn't come on either. I even tried a different charger. ADB wouldn't detect it at all when plugged into the computer.
I then took the battery out again and about 5 minutes later put it back in and this time it turned on.
I've S-OFF and I am on 4.0.0.9 recovery. I would like to go back to complete stock with S-On in case this thing is hardware related and I have to send it for a replacement.
Any ideas?
Honestly just send it back as is. They don't look for that kind of stuff. I've sent back over 12 s off devices and never got charged for one of them. So you should be good to go.

I would also like to get S-on again. I have the Sensation and there is a method for it, but it's said you can brick if done wrong. My wife has the MT4GS and I have it S-off, but it is having issues. Hopefully someone can come up with a method before too long.
Running the stock PD59IMG gets you back to stock, but still s-off.
If there is no way to turn S-ON then I shall have to take a chance with sending it back as is.
Undead did you send it through T- Mob or directly to HTC ?

Tmobile directly.

Further updates: phone is getting hotter than normal so I'm going to get it back to stock asap.
On a side note, have anyone else noticed these kinda issues. Could it be a side effect of revolutionary?
Anyway, thanks all for your help.

Nope. No issues at all. Are you running my new ROM update and flash my new kernel...no overheating to report on this combo.

My phone has always gotten hot below the battery where the sim card is when I make it do work or charge it. I guess thats why they put what looks like thermal tape on the cover above that area.

Exactly the area where I'm experiencing it as well. I had a mt4g before but that never got as hot as this slide.

Placebo affect in reverse, it gets hot, thus the added heatshield on the plastic back cover, you want a thin fone but are upset when they feel the heat of the processors.... Dont blame every hiccup as a result of root/s-off.
Your phone will run faster, save battlife, and someday (if we can get back some of the system partition) that was bloated with tmob crap

What I did with all the free space I got on my system partition was put all the apps there that I wanted on my phone that will run from system.
Some won't, like Google Earth, amongst others, but most will. Count on no games being able to run from system.
I didn't use all the space freed by removing what I consider to be bloatware, but I did save a bunch of space elsewhere on my phone by putting what I could in the system partition.

So I think my thunderbolt is bricked
I've had this phone since it was first released. Been running BAMF for a few months now.
Running BAMF Remix 1.8.6, Imoseyon's Sense leankernel (extreme), Official MR2 Radio
This morning I was getting lockups. I was just browsing FB, checking the interwebs... I did a battery pull and turned it back on. After a few more minutes of browsing, I hit the vol down key and it locked up again. I did a battery pull and the phone would not turn back on. Pulled the battery, SIM, and SD card and re-inserted and no luck. Plugged the phone into a charged and the charge light does not turn on.
Brought it to verizon store and they are sending me a replacement although they said my moisture sticker is missing (I never touched it) Tried a new battery and didnt work. One of their chargers did light up the charge LED though...
Anyone have any ideas?
This has me thinking perhaps I should revert back to the shipped radio.

Based on this one experience or has there been multiple reports?

There was another somewhere in the cm7 thread but i think that was a third person relay. I'm not reverting back, just gonna use stock kernel and rom.

Hmmm. I'm using the leaked non bricked mr2 radio and all is well here, fingers crossed!

There is no evidence to indicate that causality is the new radio. It could just as easily be damage done to your phone by overclocking it or (gasp!) a legitimate warranty return. Phones can and do stop working for other reasons.
Btw, tbolt doesn't have a "moisture strip." The battery does. Dumbass VZW reps. Can only trust a handful of them at most.

People really need to stop trying to start the bricking paranoia for TBs. I bet Verizon doesn't have any more replaced TB then it does other android phones.

They actually opened up a new thunderbolt and showed me the "moisture strip". The only thing I can think of is that they forgot to put it in earlier models and more recently started shipping with them. They told me that they are going to inspect my thunderbolt for moisture when it gets sent back.
Where is the moisture strip, and what does it look like?
I haven't seen one either, can't even find the cute little dot other phones have. Please send pic of it so we know. Had my TB. Sence week 3 of release.

None here.

On the thunderbolt the moisture strip is supposed to be in the little crevice opposite of the volume buttons where the two antenna leads are sticking up to contact the back cover.
I'll confirm once my replacement phone comes in a few hours. Hurry up UPS guy!

You should try wiping everything and installing a custom Rom or a rooted stock Rom and see if problem persists, could be a software issue. There are plenty of stock rooted gb Roms buried a few pages back in dev forum.
Check my sig. Stock roms. There is a rooted gingerbread PD98img, stock. I think it's the 3rd one, iirc.
With the phone plugged into the charger take a pic with flash on and see if your phone resets. Could be a battery issue.

That would be my recommendation. If you knew someone with another inspire you could try their battery. Actually your battery should be under warranty. If your phone is stock looking then you could probably take it to an ATT store and let them check it out and get 1 for free. Or even a call to 611 ATT support might get you a new battery for free. Just tell them it won't hold a charge and the flash causes your phone to reboot and you tried a friends battery and it fixed the issue. ATT has very understanding customer support.
It definitely sounds like a battery issue. I had a very similar issue. My phone would shut off at random times, and one thing that caused it was the camera flash. I picked up a new HTC battery on eBay for like $14, and it runs like a dream! If you cant fork over the money for the HTC brand battery, there are lots of cheaper chinese batteries for like $2 a piece. They would be good to just test and see if the battery is the issue if you cant find a buddy that could let you use a battery for troubleshooting, before you buy an HTC battery.
Absolutely! the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. A new battery solved the issue. If you have a warranty/protection plan call up At&T and they'll take it from there.
Man, I love forums! I was just having this problem this week! I guess my brutal punishment to my battery over Winter break has cost me (I was running the phone down to 0% multiple times a day). Time to get a new battery.

Digging into the problem
I was going crazy with this problem! I wonder now what is the problem with the battery, because mine it seems like it keeps current like a good battery. Does anyoane has any "hardware-electrical" explanation?
Anyway, at least I have one solution and I am partially happy with it.

I'm assuming when you say it "keeps current" you have been using a current widget. The camera flash puts a heavy load on the battery. On an older battery, it may look like it's fine at idle or doing simple tasks, but it can no longer handle the tough tasks.
I don't know if the phone is supposed to do this or what, but it only does it every once in awhile.
I hit the back button or home button, and it goes to the white mytouch screen, and reloads everything. Its real annoying, and takes 15-20 seconds to start back up. Is this a legit problem? Or is this how it is supposed to be.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
Mine does that too sometime. Only when I just got done using a cpu intensive app though usually.
Are u on virtuous quatro
Not even rooted. All stock. It just did it.. lol. It goes back to the mytouch screen for about five seconds then opens the homepage for about ten seconds and says "loading".
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
I hear what you are saying with an "cpu intensive" app, but this is a dual core phone!! I had my g2 overclocked to 1.2ghz, and it never did that.. surely there is a problem with this phone.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
The problem is the phone dont have enough RAM to keep home in the memory, being dual core has nothing to do with it, HTC is still setting some memory options too aggresive so home gets killed out for all the other apps to run. All this is things that can be changed with a little scripting and some build.prop edits
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
That makes a little more sense. I mean, the cpu in these phones should never be overloaded. The first thing I noticed when I got my phone was that, and wondered why it did it. Surely in testing they had to have seen it, then that leads to the question, why release an unfinished product? They spit these phones out like nothing, with what seems little to no testing. Pretty pathetic, for the people who spend hundreds of dollars on these little devices expecting a superior product. Maybe that's why they are handing them out like candy to all of us g2 owners.

I'd say, root the phone and load up the MIUI port on your phone, it's the most stable rom for now, every other rom i tried, I keep getting these reboots and they get annoying. However, i'm still waiting for virtuous team to roll out a steady and stable rom for this phone
then your on the newest radio...from the latest OTA update.....thats not stable with most Roms/kernels flash this radio http://a.22aaf3.com/doubleshot/radio/10.48.9007.00U_10.12.9007.07/PG59IMG.zip

I don't think a factory reset re-installs the kernel does it?

Here is a little secret I will let you in on. This coming from experience on fixing phones. Do this.
1st disassemble the phone. You may need a t5 or t6 screwdriver. Don't need to seperate the digitizer from the bezel. Just strip it down so you can access the circuit boards.
2nd get a very copious amount of isopropil alcohol and a small brush. There will also be a part of the main board that has a metal cover over it. Pry those off carefully. Once you stripped it down, brush the alcohol over all of the circuitboards and connections. What this will do is break the corrosion off the circuits. Believe me it is there even though you can't see it. Let the phone sit for about a day so that it can be completely dried.
3rd reassemble and then power up. It should work like it is new.
I did this twice in the last month. Once to a iPhone 3gs (it was my brother's I wouldn't have done it otherwise) and a mytouch 3G slide. Both worked like New afterward.
Sent from my HTC HD2 with Sense 3.5 using XDA Premium App
what is your hboot version? if it is 1.44.0007, have you tried running Revolutionary to S-OFF? i am not sure if it would work tho if you can't boot into the system.
your other hope is to flash the newer stock firmware file, and at least be able to boot into the newest stock ROM. after that you you wouldn't be able to S-OFF, but you could use the HTC unlock tool, and be able to root, and flash ROMs. if it comes to this, try the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508406, dowloading the stock firmware file and flashing it as instructed there.
hopefully this helps ya.
Believe me it's not a software issue. It's a corrosion issue. You can load all the software you want and it will still mock you. The mytouch 3G slide acted the exact same way. Once brushed it with alcohol it worked like new.

yeah, i guess we were writing at the exact same time. i thought maybe it sounded like a bootloop, although you generally don't get bootloops if you haven't rooted and flashed something wrong. and water damage probably wouldn't lead to a software issue.
but anyway, hopefully the device can be made to work again. thanks for the tips!
I am always having this issue on my infuse?when i use data or gps on my phone it is always having heating problems on my phone at simcard slot?anyone else having this kind of problem?i am thinking of going back to stock then start from there and my 2nd option is restore apps w/o data from tibu.

This is because the processor is at that spot. I have tried ICS ROMs and all of them have given me heating problems while on data and Wi-Fi. It's probably because of the kernel.
Try going back to a GB ROM and observe.

It's just the fact that your phone is in use...the only thing I could think of to prevent it from getting hot is underclocking...heat is just one of the prices you have to pay for fast processors...its a 1.2Ghz processor...that's pretty fast with nothing inside to cool it down...
It's like rubbing your hands together...the faster you do it the hotter your hands get
