[Q] may have ota and manual update blocked - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

once upon a time i rooted my transformer and was running custom roms. Then, at some point, i unrooted and awaited the excitement of the ics update.
I've not had it and have noticed that my device is actually sitting on 8.6.6.19 which means i am seriously old news. I have attempted to download the 21 update from asus and have followed the instructions to put the asus folder in the root of the sd card but the device does not notify me of any update.
is it possible that my device is ignoring any notification of updates? is it possible that something has gone wrong in the unrooting department?

[Q] Is there someone .....rooting/unrooting=OTA issue

The device I'm talking about: Transformer ww 8.4.4.11
Bought the device with HC3.1 v. 8.4.4.11 ww
I've rooted the device, without problems.
Wanted to update OTA to 3.2 ww.
Unrooted the device. Checked with rootchecker, so it is unrooted, no superuser, no busybox on it. Now it has again HC 3.1 v. 8.4.4.11. ww
Since that, my ota doesn't work.
Question: Is there anyone who managed to update his device (OTA to 3.2 ww) after a rooting unrooting procedure?
If yes, please, please tell me how.
Thank you.
Well... it seems that no one managed to get the ota...
In this case I'm the only one who received it. Cos I did receive it.
i'm not shure if i understand your last post. Did you get the ota? cause i unroot my device today to 8.4.4.11 (HC 3.1) I can update is manual to 8.6.5.7 but i unroot it specialy to 8.4.4.11 to check if i will get again ota.
So, did you get it and had to wait much time or how i should understand your post ^^
Don't even need to unroot if you upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2 using firmware for asus site.

I mean't OTA. I wanted to try, if i will get OTA updtes after flash a stock rom. In the post you show they talk about flashing update manual. I know about this and how to do it. So i will wait a few days and see if my TF will tell me something about updates.

I have. Assuming you have unrooted properly all you need to do now is re-flash an official update from the Asus site. If that doesn't work you haven't unrooted properly and you'll need to NVflash back to stock and re-flash another Asus download. Should be solved after this and allow fota updates to be downloaded normally and installed.
i have unrooted my TF like in this thread yesterday.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154947&highlight=unroot
i took the original asus firmware 8.4.4.11. I could take the new one 8.6.5.7 but i specially took the older one to see if there will be an ota update. i have no message till now that there is an update for my device.
Does anybody know how long it could take? now there are 30h gone since unroot and flash an original asus FW. If i try manualy to search for an update my TF says there isn't one for my device now.
is there a difference if i take a WW Firmware or a DE? Don't know if there will be problems with the OTA updates if i take the WW Firmware. I'm from Germany, so i took the DE Firmaware.
EDIT: I forgot to say. I have the stock recovery and no Superuser app. And the flashing was without any problems.
Solved
I get the OTA update today. The only thing you have to do after unroot properly and flashing a stock rom is to wait some days.

Tricked into buying an 'official' modified phone?

Can anyone help me? I have an ASUS Zenfone 6, I checked my device settings and everything from the 'about' menu at settings and it says I have a 1.16 WW firmware. When I downloaded the newest 1.18 WW firmware from support.asus.com and tried to flash it says:
Device image SKU: CUCC
OTA image SKU: WW
And the update fails
I am honestly confused to what's going on here. I thought I have WW with gapps and everything working but suddenly when I try to update I have CUCC? Oh and what's weird is that when I just got the phone SuperSU was synced from my previous phone and I just wanted to check out what happens if I open SuperSU without rooting but when SuperSU opened it asks me whether I want to update the binary normally or from CWM/TWRP! This mind you only happens if you had rooted the phone and ran SuperSU for the first time, surprisingly according to root checker I have root! JUST BY INSTALLING SUPERSU! So I was wondering if my phone was tampered before I bought it? I legally bought it new from a nearby mall with it still complete with the packaging and warranty card, so I'm really confused to what is going on.
Can anyone please please help me, do anyone else who has the WW firmware has anything like this happen when you want to flash the firmware update? I tried to force the firmware update using fastboot, nothing changed, but now my phone won't detect my SD Card and every time I open settings the phone would restart. The only way I can think of to fix this is by flashing a fresh ROM but so far I cannot find a link that has Zenfone 6 stock ROM, only the firmware. I've thought of returning the phone with the reason that I got tricked into buying a CUCC Zenfone instead of the WW that is sold on my region.
Note: I bought the phone in Indonesia and basically there are 2 warranty. One from the official ASUS and another from 'distributor', because the distributor is cheaper I bought that one thinking I'm only having a different warranty and a lack of support from ASUS officials but is it possible this distributor actually sell a modified CUCC SKU that is changed to WW? I've seen some articles/video to switch from TW/CN to WW and it kind of raised my suspicion.

[Q] Asus Memo Pad 10 (ME102a) Android 4.2.2 -- How to downgrade to 4.1

Hi all,
I have Asus Memo Pad 10 (ME102a) currently with Android 4.2.2 with kernal version ww_3.11.0.99#1
problem
My tablet was working fine up to last week. I had for some reason delayed updating the system update available from Asus. Recently I went ahead with the system updates and now I am stuck with my wifi not connecting.
My wifi currently scans and detects wifi. When I try to connect to open or secured wifi the signal strength drops and the wifi is not able to connect. I have tried it with different routers as well as tried using static IP. I have tired restarting, factory wipe but no go.
Asus Customer Support
They have told me it is a software issue and i would have to wait for the next update. Asus doesn't know when the next update is coming. They said I would have to sent it to them to downgrade it. The tablet was purchased in the USA and I am currently overseas and trying to get this issue resolved.
So far I have done the following
I have rooted my tablet and have super user access.
I have installed CWM recovery
I have found the original kernal file from Asus UL-K00F-WW-3.9.0.82-user
I can't do the following
I tried installing the original kernal file UL-K00F-WW-3.9.0.82-user but the installation keeps on getting aborted. (I think the loader doesn't allow it install) ---- Do I need to unlock the bootloader if so how??? I have tried to unlock the bootloader but I haven't been able to.
If someone knows any other way to fix this issue please share.
Thanks to all in advance

MT7-TL10 update - is it 5.1?

Hi all,
I"m living in Germany, but I bought my HAM7 in January in Dubai.
Today I received an OTA which is MT7-TL10_channel_MT7-TL10V100R001C00B128.
I"m wondering if someone already did that update and whether it's 5.1.
Thanks!
Hi, no this is a previous update.
5.1 is 300B
Probably, since 5.1 is an update and not a full OTA, it will come when you have an intermediate updated version of android. So go on, update to this suggested rom and wait for a following one.
guys
I make it root with kingoroot app and has told me its root your device . reboot it and no root on my device and try to install root checker on play Google and also told me no root
OSN play told me there is root on my Device ...

please help me

Thanks for your answer, you"re confirming what I found out as well. This update is 4.4.2.
Currently I can't really see any improvements, maybe they are hidden under the hood.
not sure if I got your question correctly. I rooted my device a week after I bought it in January, following the guidance I found in a different place on a German website. However, the process was a bit more complex compared to other devices I've rooted in the past. Especially the way of getting the id-numbers on a Chinese website was somehow challenging. Anyway, immediately after successfully rooting the mate7, I replaced the CWM recovery with stock recovery and from there I did receive the OTA"s which I seamlessly could install.
If your question is more general on rooting the HAM7 you should consult to the other more specific threads here on XDA

Question Root/Unroot, Unlock/lock, impact on OTA updates

I want to edit the hosts file of a moto edge (2021), however I also want it to continue to get OTA updates. So some (potentially dumb) questions:
Can you get OTA updates on an unlocked bootloader for motorola?
Can you get updates after rooting then unrooting the phone?
Will the hosts file changes made while rooted remain after unrooting?
Thank you for your time and help, much appreciated!
Hello, I have seen your publication and I want to give you an answer based on my experience with my Motorola phones, I am just going to try the custom rom that is available for this phone.
but I can clarify certain doubts
Regarding the updates, they continue to be received even if your device is unlocked, that is the answer to your first question,
second, once the phone is updated you can lose the root since in the updates they lose the modifications to some files like the boot.img.
and in the same way it depends on the update but if you can modify the host file.
But I am still going to recommend that you do not update the phone when you have it rooted, since in some update some changes are reverted and it may remain in the bootloop
I hope my answer helps you and I repeat this answer is based on experience with motorola phones
