Hi everybody
Returned my Prime because of a lot of reasons and now I've ended up with a Xoom
This is my first tablet.
But why cant I see/recieve the ICS update?
I chose Danish as language, is that the reason?
Model: MZ604
Android-Version: 3.2
Tell me what u need to know, or what I have to do
Thx
is it a bad thing to make it a GED device? Got the guide ready.
Im using it in Denmark. Does that mean anything? Im not going for custom roms rigth now. Maybe later
Plz answer!
----
AND will I have access to the Danish Android Marked or only the US-version?

'cause there just is no ICS update for any xoom that supports more than wifi
forget what I said. I kind of read MZ601... Clearly, your model is a Wifi-only-xoom. I am not sure though if this (the european) version should already have received the ICS upgrade. Some sources I found state that it will be released in Q2/2012... However, another pointer I found was: are you positive your xoom is not unlocked (/are you the first to own it)?

what's the difference? Why would you get "the US-version" with a german xoom?
GED means its a US version and Google Dev device...
How can I check to see if its unlocked or not?
And will it not update if unlocked?
And yes I bought it as 2nd hand.. but it was almost not used..

if you have fastboot set up on your computer reboot your xoom into bootloader mode (for example by entering adb reboot bootloader in a windows terminal, after all, if fastboot has been set up, adb is most likely also set up; USB debugging must be turned on in android settings for this) and once the xoom rebooted into bootloader mode just enter fastboot getvar all, that should return something like
Code:
...
(bootloader) battery-status: 61%:7.671V:0.9844A:21.75C
(bootloader) unlocked: yes
(bootloader) iswarrantyvoid: yes
all: Done
finished. total time: 0.547s
unlocked will be yes if the device is unlocked and no if it isn't; iswarrantyvoid will be yes if the device has ever been unlocked.

that is correct. You can re-lock your bootloader if it isn't locked, but you need to have stock everything for that to work (/system /recovery /boot)
Trackid worked which i read meant it was locked
there you go.
Not unlocked!
Why do you prefer stock rom? The custom roms work great. If you want a rom that is very close to stock I'd recommend TeamEOS 1.0.
I dont say I dont want a custom ROM soon, but I would like to try the official ICS first.
And I cant figure out why I dont recieve the OTA update? Is some of my infos wrong regarding the screenshots I've posted?
decided to go the custom room way..
but need some help!
What to do after I have unlocked the bootloader?
I've downloaded Eos wingray and the eos Gapps.
Havent done this before
Did you install ClockworkMod recovery? If so:
-place the EOS rom and Gapps on the external SD card
-make a backup of your stock rom
-do a wipe/factory reset
-flash the EOS rom
-flash the Gapps
-reboot your Xoom

after you unlocked your bootloader you have to flash a custom recovery (I recommend the recovery linked in this thread), then boot into the recovery and flash the custom roms .zip and the gapps.zip. To do all that, you can just follow the instructions in that thread, just don't flash the xoom-root.zip, instead flash the team EOS-zip and the gapps.zip
If I was you, I'd make a nandroid backup right after booting into recovery for the first time, you could use that backup to restore to stock later on, if you like. This will even overwrite your custom recovery once you boot it, after that you can lock your xoom again.
tl;dr
put roms zip-file(s) onto SD-Card
unlock bootloader
flash recovery
boot recovery
(optional) Backup everything
flash the roms zip-file(s)
I decided to test the US GED ROM first.
Then I have something to compare with!
Thx for the guide. Will use it soon!
If I want to download the german or european version, can I use those listed here?:

Im downloading the US updates from 3.0 and OMW to 4.0.3
It seems that I didnt even have 3.2.1 ? So is something was wrong?? It only showed 3.2

I just wanted to make sure that I understood the process of returning my phone to stock before I make a mistake.
All I've done since I purchased the phone was root it and unlock the bootloader. I have not loaded any custom roms.
So If I understand this correctly I need to:
1) Flash the Stock Image (which should include the stock recovery?)
2) Use fastboot to lock the bootloader
The reason I'm wanting to return the phone to stock is to receive OTA updates. I never use any apps requiring root, and don't plan on loading any custom roms.
I never did find a 2.3.4 stock image for the I9020A..
you should actually be able to get ota updates no problem. it'll just remove root every time you update.
it's probably not a good idea to lock the bootloader though cause if you ever want to unlock it again in the future you'll have to wipe everything from your phone. your best bet is to just flash stock recovery so you can install the update
i'm pretty sure that works, but hopefully someone else can verify just so you don't get some bad information lol
I heard the same thing about OTA updates. If you're phone is rooted and you're using the original rom, you'll get the update but you'll have to root your phone once again.
I haven't tried this myself so I cannot verify it.
It's just the word on the street, you know!

you need stock everything, so stock kernel, rom, radio, etc... the op should be fine to update if they flash stock recovery though. rooting is simple from there

Thanks again kibmcz, so I just completed the flash, then did a fastbook oem lock.
Seems to be working fine except for one thing...
When I go into settings and hit Sound I get a Force close when I try and select a new ringtone...
Should I try reflashing again?

Using my zip yes... it flashes Bootloader, Radio, Boot, System and on first boot (and any other time recovery changes) Recovery is flashed. All you got to to is lock the bootloader and that wipes user data and usb storage.
hey man i appreciate you coming forward with a solution, ive yet to recieve the phone but wanted to prepare.

is it necessary to relock the boot loader in order to flash or can we just leave out the last step (fast boot OEM lock)?
Oops - getting ahead of myself here. The problem I'm trying to solve is the "recovery mode, yellow triangle with <!>" issue. So I'm going to have to at least flash stock recovery. Had planned to flash everything, then realized that the ICS zip is incremental changes to HTK75D, and the Moto download would probably need a couple of OTAs to get there. SO, I haven't tried what I posted yet -- And I just HATE it when people post without having done it themselves. Mea Culpa. Excuse is that I was posting from plane coming home from overseas and anxious to get home and try it. Sorry.

My boot loader is unlocked and I flashed using the .zip
You had to do it using a USB pen drive instead of the sdcard though.
The android/! point can be solved with a down or up arrow and the power button at the same time, then select the update option.

what can I do now for rooting & nvflash, dualboot for UBUNTU(Ithing it is very suitable for the infinity because of the dock and touchpad )

You cannot use NVFlash as you have upgraded the bootloader. It only works on .26 or earlier. Not on .30 or JB. You can load several of the custom Roms, just check your MD5 sums before installing them, and be wary of Alpha builds or TF300 based ones. If you don't get too crazy, you should be OK without NVFlash. Having it is like car insurance, you don't plan on using it, but when you do crash it's nice to have.

Under Windo2s I very much like HashTab -- once installed, right-click on a file and under the Properties window, you get a new tab called "File Hashes" or something like that. If you transfer the file under Windows (e.g., using a card reader), you check it again just to be sure.
Under Android I use MD5 Hash Checker because it provides Send-to functionality: you can browse to the file using you preferred file app (mine is Total Commander) and just send it MD5HC.
Under both programs, you can just paste in the MD5 checksum the developer gives out and see if the file downloaded correctly.
Just to make sure, there's only 1 way to unlock as of now, correct? The ASUS unlocking app?

ClockworkMod Recovery! Well whenever the phone gets released. I attempted to build a test version of CWM at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863
Fingers crossed that it works.
But I will probably need someone to give me these two items once they get a phone to correct the configs.
Post the file /proc/partitions
Post the file /proc/mounts
For the adb commands. "adb shell" then "cat /proc/partitions" and "cat /proc/mounts" Should work.

just curious, to get updates
My device has T-Mobile UK firmware (1.28.61.7) and I will be looking to go back to stock soon to hopefully receive official 1.29 firmware update.
I need the appropriate recovery for my device but am not quite sure what that is. I have a nandroid but this was done in CWM after rooting.
Is the recovery of 1.29 different to 1.28 and do I need a T-Mobile specific recovery or is the generic recovery just the same?
If somebody could point me in the direction of the recovery I require it would be much appreciated.

Are you 100% sure??
I am trying to return my 1.28.61.7 device to stock using a rooted nandroid which I made without any other modifications. After many trials and tribulations, I managed to unroot by removing SuperSU and binaries but, after installing 'stock' recovery my device still says relocked and tampered and will not boot into recovery.
I am, however, able to perform a full wipe from within android though.
I would really like complete clarity on this if anyone can help me as I need to get back to stock to get an official update when it appears as there are no stock nandroids available or any RUU's for my device.

lol, im sorry, ill start over.
a year ago, when i bought it, i unlocked it, put the cwm recovery and burned "baked" rom which is based on android 4.2.2
didnt do anything since then.
now i want to change my rom to a new one (cm11) which is based on android 4.4.4.
every rom higher than 4.1.2 is required to have bootloader 4.2. i dont have 4.2, i have 4.1 and i dont know how to update it to 4.2.
that my main problem.
every "new" recovery from the past year requires 4.2 bootloader and i dont have it so im stuck with "baked" rom which now giving me a hard time.
anyone?

Here's a similar thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/help/want-to-to-stock-rom-t2861116

What did you do so far?
It's basically just flashing the stock blob:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system boot.blob
You can always wait for lj50036 and see what he suggests. He's the expert

when i wrote:
adb push bootit.ko /
it didnt gave me the right output, it gave me a long list of descriptions.
my main concern is that my android is 4.2.2 and my bootloader is 4.1 - is that even matter? is that could affect the "bricking" of the device?
if there is a video on how to flash a stock rom (downgrade) from 4.2.2 i would love a link for it
thanks!
Read the thread I linked again. You don't need to follow the whole guide to go back to stock:
"skip to the fastboot erase system command and go from there ..."
If you are unsure about the bootloader versions, just flash the stock ROM you had before and let it update itself when you are booted up in Android

You don't need to push that file to your tablet...
It's for unbricking your bootloader
