ClockworkMod Recovery! Well whenever the phone gets released. I attempted to build a test version of CWM at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863
Fingers crossed that it works.
But I will probably need someone to give me these two items once they get a phone to correct the configs.
Post the file /proc/partitions
Post the file /proc/mounts
For the adb commands. "adb shell" then "cat /proc/partitions" and "cat /proc/mounts" Should work.
EDIT: Thank you to he_stheone64 for giving me what I need above. Now I can make a fully working recovery.

To get back on topic, here's the fstab extracted from the recovery

Hey guys.
Nice to see all of you to be getting the HTC One
But lets not turn this to a conversation thread please.
Thread cleaned.
Cheers

Pardon me, but is this the same stock recovery as the AT&T version?

Why would you use this? Go read some guides and then flash either twrp or cwm.

just curious, to get updates

My device has T-Mobile UK firmware (1.28.61.7) and I will be looking to go back to stock soon to hopefully receive official 1.29 firmware update.
I need the appropriate recovery for my device but am not quite sure what that is. I have a nandroid but this was done in CWM after rooting.
Is the recovery of 1.29 different to 1.28 and do I need a T-Mobile specific recovery or is the generic recovery just the same?
If somebody could point me in the direction of the recovery I require it would be much appreciated.

Are you 100% sure??
I am trying to return my 1.28.61.7 device to stock using a rooted nandroid which I made without any other modifications. After many trials and tribulations, I managed to unroot by removing SuperSU and binaries but, after installing 'stock' recovery my device still says relocked and tampered and will not boot into recovery.
I am, however, able to perform a full wipe from within android though.
I would really like complete clarity on this if anyone can help me as I need to get back to stock to get an official update when it appears as there are no stock nandroids available or any RUU's for my device.

no problem, here is the US dev edition stock recovery-signed
http://d-h.st/b5g
Tampered showed @ hboot is because you have "unlocked" before

So If I have clockwork mod touch recovery installed and I want to go back to stock recovery without loosing my app and data I can just flash this in cwm?

[Q] What happens with root?

Hello XDA members
I was wondering, when the new android sandwich comes out, and you got a rooted and S-off HTC sensation. But not custom rom. What will happen to the root and S-off when you update to the new android sandwich?
Thanks
Want to know too ahehhe
We'll lose root but keep S-OFF I'd imagine
Cool, thanks for the answer
I have perm-rooted my Sensation and i was wondering when the new official update from HTC comes out will i be able to install it automatically like when i was not rooted or because i am S-Off it will not let me?
Thanks
i could be wrong but no you wont be able to perform an ota update. im only saying this because the last ota update failed because the update looks for the stock recovery in order to update the system. seeing that you are rooted i assume you have cwm installed and if this ota update does indeed look for the stock recovery than it will fail. the only way around this is to either instal a stock ruu and lose root or instal the stock recovery and again lose root. either way you are gonna lose root.
Could you give me a link where there is a guide to install the stock recovery?

Depends. If you're just running the original rom which came on your phone but rooted, it should still allow ota updates, but you'll lose root (but keep s-off). If you're on a custom rom you won't receive an ota.
To OP, if you ran an ruu or ota of ice cream sandwich, as eddy says, you'll lose root but remain s-off. That said, a custom ics rom will probably come out weeks/months before an official HTC update
Well, when we got the RUU, we can extract and repack to our rooted ROM
It should be this if i am right ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559

That's true, but we'll see aosp ics roms long before we have sense skinned ones, as cyanogen et al don't need to spend months porting frameworks.

Yes I am running the stock rom so I will receive the pta update. I know that I will lose root in every scenario if I install the stock ROM one way or another.
Thanks.

So i just flash one of these roms, without deleting cache or doing a reset ?
not entirely true. i was rooted on stock rom when the last ota rolled out. i tried installing it but it failed. i did a lil search here and found a few people mentioned that it failed due to cwm and they also mentioned that you should try flashing back the stock recovery. i tried that and it installed successfully. easy way to get the stock recovery is to instal the correct ruu of your rom. but as we all know it wipes out everything off your phone. i did find this guide which the stigx has asked for (sorry buddy didnt see you there ) which shows you how to extracted the stock recovery off of the ruu and than flash it back to your phone.

But if I need to follow your guide i have to have the OTA update file,w hich haven't comet out yet. What do i Do? It seems so hard to remove root and custom recovery :'(
But thank for your answer !
well the general idea is to get your stock recovery back without losin your data. so really all you need to do is flash your stock recovery reboot your phone and check for updates. if updates are available: system>about phone>check for updates, download the update and install. it shouldnt fail cause you have stock recovery instead of cwm. in short just do the top part of the guide and skip the rest cause you dont have the updates file on your computer.
So if i do step 1-12 I will have normal phone? Just like I started or do i still keep root?
Thank you so much for your hep !

yes you do 1-12 but you keep root. the only difference is that you will no longer have cwm for flashing, back up, and all other goodies. but once you run the ota and it installs you lose root.
but have a look at the link frederikh just posted. seems alot better than the current method. im reading over it now
Thanks for the answers!
I think i will go with the link frederikh gave me But God bless you Divine! Thank you for your help !

[Q] Returning to stock [i9020a]

I just wanted to make sure that I understood the process of returning my phone to stock before I make a mistake.
All I've done since I purchased the phone was root it and unlock the bootloader. I have not loaded any custom roms.
So If I understand this correctly I need to:
1) Flash the Stock Image (which should include the stock recovery?)
2) Use fastboot to lock the bootloader
The reason I'm wanting to return the phone to stock is to receive OTA updates. I never use any apps requiring root, and don't plan on loading any custom roms.
I never did find a 2.3.4 stock image for the I9020A..
you should actually be able to get ota updates no problem. it'll just remove root every time you update.
it's probably not a good idea to lock the bootloader though cause if you ever want to unlock it again in the future you'll have to wipe everything from your phone. your best bet is to just flash stock recovery so you can install the update
i'm pretty sure that works, but hopefully someone else can verify just so you don't get some bad information lol
I heard the same thing about OTA updates. If you're phone is rooted and you're using the original rom, you'll get the update but you'll have to root your phone once again.
I haven't tried this myself so I cannot verify it.
It's just the word on the street, you know!

you need stock everything, so stock kernel, rom, radio, etc... the op should be fine to update if they flash stock recovery though. rooting is simple from there

Thanks again kibmcz, so I just completed the flash, then did a fastbook oem lock.
Seems to be working fine except for one thing...
When I go into settings and hit Sound I get a Force close when I try and select a new ringtone...
Should I try reflashing again?

Using my zip yes... it flashes Bootloader, Radio, Boot, System and on first boot (and any other time recovery changes) Recovery is flashed. All you got to to is lock the bootloader and that wipes user data and usb storage.
hey man i appreciate you coming forward with a solution, ive yet to recieve the phone but wanted to prepare.
my goal is to flash everything back to stock and start completly over whereas i have no clue what method was originally used to root and unlock the bootloader.
when the time comes hope you dont mind a PM if i have any extra questions.

Just did the method using the stock ROM provided by kibmcz "thanks BTW!"
Phone is back to stock, working like it did when I first bought it. Had a little trouble with some Force Close issues but did a factory reset/data clear of the cache and all that before re-flashing, and it seems to be working Vanilla!

[Q] Need help with install official ota

My friend wants the official ics rom on his sensation.
It says that there is an update available but the text is something with twitter.
I tried to do that but after the download the phone reboots into 4ext and does nothing.
The phone WAS rooted.
I unrooted it by installing a ruu something.
I cant find the website where I can download al the official firmwares.
I've read something about that the md5 checksum is important.
5e5c95599080d31db7f660eebd17ffe2
Thats the md5 checksum
I will attach a picture of software information.
I hope somebody can help me.
Thanks!
if the phone is totally stock, and by that i mean no S-OFF, ROOT, Custom ROM, CID changed, you can go to htc.com, customer service, do a live chat, say you want the latest RUU for your sensation, they'll ask for your serial number, it's under the battery (S/N), and they will link you to a direct download. UNLESS official OTA hasn't reached you yet......also you should remove 4EXT, but flashing an RUU "should" do the trick..

It will replace 4ext recovery with your original stock recovery which is required for applying OTA updates.
You can use the same procedure with the recovery.img of 4ext recovery to flash 4ext again after the ICS update.

[Q] Please Help! Phone Bricked (Noob Problems)

Hey all, sorry if this seems like other questions being posted, but I can not get my phone to work even after attempting the other fixes posted on the forums. I rooted my phone and was running the stock rom that came preloaded with it. I attempted to install CM10 through Rom Manager to no success, so I then tried to manually flash it as well as Gapps. My phone initially got stuck at the CM10 bootloader, but i could still go into CWM Recovery 5.8.3.1. After trying to get the rom to work more, it seems as if all I can access is CWM Recovery and nothing else. My phone wont even boot into the bootloader anymore and all i have access to is CWM Recovery.
I am not the most tech savvy individual when it comes to this since it has been ages since i tinkered with roms, but I would really like to fix this. So heres the facts since my post is so long (sorry!):
-Phone WILL NOT go into bootloader
-Can ONLY ACCESS ClockworkMod Recovery (5.8.3.1)
-SD Card wont mount (I get error "E:Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)")
I really just want to go back to stock and root again from scratch to reduce any errors like this from occurring in the future and ANY help would be appreciated because I am totally lost and without a phone now. To make things even more difficult, I only have access to a Mac running Lion....although i do have Windows 8 through the use of a bootcamp program, so I CAN run windows programs. Thank you all for any information you may have!

Yes it says fastboot USB, but i can not access it on my computer. Also, every time I try to run the toolkit you mentioned earlier... it says something along the line on "command not recognized" in CMD Prompt.

Hmm not sure have you tried redownloading it or reinstalling the HTC drivers and if that dont work best ask in the toolkit thread.

I see that you got the toolkit and bootloader working but did you end up using the RUU?
Success!

Np but this time use TWRP as your recovery and once you up and running with CM10 you can use Flash Image GUI to flash the boot.img if you ever update the rom.

Heartbleed vulnerability in Android 4.1.1

Google has officially stated that Android 4.1.1 is vulnerable:

This is a notice for anyone else on the Stock ROM as I am pretty sure this was the last supported update from HTC.
Pretty sure my wife's HTC One S (Ville) is on this version. Will verify when I get home. Time to root and flash her phone this weekend

Anyway to patch this flaw myself using root access? I really don't have time to install and configure a new ROM...
I guess there is no official word from HTC neither...?

Could anyone with more programming skills than me try one of the following:
1) wrap this in a zip file we can flash from recovery
2) incorporate it into the Xposed framework
Many thanks if someone can accomplish this!
I think it's just HTC wanting us to buy new devices that's all.

Maybe you can try my patch: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tqxfjwwja3uaqsn/install-patch.zip
It uses a libssl.so from a LG Optimus L5 II (4.1.2) and it works on my TrekStor Surftab Ventos 10.1
If your device does't boot after you've installed it:
The patch creates a backup of your libssl.so at /system/libssl.backup.so, so just replace /system/lib/libssl.so with that backup file
Cheers, Xorg
Edit: updated link

I'm not sure how to fix it, but this is why you're not supposed to install OTAs if you're not on stock recovery.

I'm s off, have twrp installed and on stock ROM. Would like to install this update, or get a 4.2.2 or 4.3 stable fully functional ROM. Do you think flashing stock recovery and then ota would work even if I'm s off. Should still be able to boot an ruu from fastboot even if I boot loop. Suggestions on custom roms?
Edit: Used flashalot's recovery switcher to flash stock recovery, rebooted, then flashed the ota update. After update I lost root, but still have s off.
Plan on fastboot flashing another recovery, then flashing su binary again from the new recovery.
Hope this helps.

This might help...
If you have the OTA.zip file... but custom recovery and such like TMUS application removed..
This will wipe your phone. Making a backup is not optional !!!
http://sadevil.org/blog/2012/12/23/manually-flashing-an-ota-update/
This looks somewhat straight forward.. If you want to get the OTA downloaded:
got to settings .. and manage to get the software update.. It will download eventually into your Download folder ..
Do not Apply the OTA at this point.. select install later!!!
pull the file on your PC/Mac/Linux box and modify as described in the URL above..
reboot your phone and the OTA should not bother you ... if you have pulled (like in remove) or at least renamed the OTA file..
Before you push Firmware.. and such make sure you have made a backup with CWM !!! or whatever method you are using!!!
also make sure you have your custom recovery image somewhere available and maybe a su.zip cwm file as you may loose root as well.. not sure..
If you have rooted your HTC one S your self - this should not be hard to DIY..
Currently I am at work and cannot try it out myself .. but definitly will do it once back at home later..
Godspeed to all of you brave hackers..

Same situation here. Stock ROM and Rooted and S-off. Constant nag to apply the OTA update but not working. Looking for a way to do it easy. How should I proceed? Don't want to wipe the phone and create all my settings again if possible. Can I reverse S-Off and apply OTA update somehow?
can any one provide me a link to the ota update
