PLEASE I really need the solution. I factory reset my Galaxy Tab 10.1... I didn't know that the pictures would be deleted also. PLEASE HELP ME. These pictures are so important to me. PLEASE. Anyone know how to recover them back... I feel so sad now because all of my memories are gone. Please help me...
The factory reset might not have deleted the sdcard just cleared the gallery.
Use a file explorer and check by hand, it is really gone you can try this app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hexamob.hexamobrecoverylite&hl=de
It will require root and the less you filled your memory after the factory reset, the higher your chances of recovery are.
If you wiped your SD card lol pics can be saved using phototec great tool to use on ur pc.

Hi everyone. I just got a replacement cappy from AT&T and I want to complete wipe out everything from the memory. Ive done a reset and in start up with no apps, but all my music and pics are still there. I did the startup into recovery menu and chose to clear data, but again, my pics and music and other files are still there.
Can anyone tell me the best way to completely wipe everything off the phone so its like I just got it stock?
Hook up your captivate to your computer and delete everything off the internal SD card.
Have you tried
Settings, privacy, factory data reset.
Out you can use odin and use master clear

I wasnt sure if that was ok because I didnt know if there was any systems files that I had to worry about deleting. If not though, I think I will just do that.

I did do that, but all music, pics and videos are still on the memory.
If you hook up to your pc you will not see system files so you will not be able to delete them

Thanks everyone. I just ended up deleting all files from the phone once I mounted it to my PC. I appreciate all the responses.
Just curious. There are lots of talk of backing up data. Is it really needed when doing a complete reset of the phone.

nah, I don't think so, unless you're gonna flash different ROMs. The reason why I did a factory reset is because I backed up all my system data with Titanium backup and no longer had any available space left. So not knowing what to delete, I just did a factory reset and after that still I found the left over traces were still taking up space, so I just reformatted both external and internal memory.

Using an ordinary file manager (don't use root explorer if you want to delete all your files manually cause if you don't know what your doing then you can possibly brick your phone) you could of deleted every single file that you don't need. Android won't allow you to delete important files when using a ordinary file manager so you won't harm your device. I've tried deleting files such as "Android Secure" and all it does is create another Android Secure folder.

No a backup isn't needed, but it is similar to having insurance on a vehicle. Just in case something happens you are covered.

Try to do a factory data reset in recovery, or if you don't mind losing files on SD card then you can do it from Settings > Backup & reset
Its not rooted, gonna wait til it breaks and root it after repair so i dont root it with worn parts. Anyways i got a duplicate youtube app now which cant be uninstalled.

you dont have to be rooted to backup and reset found in settings
I have never made a backup and i got studf that i dont want to lose on it...

you can backup with this app https://market.android.com/details?...DEsImNvbS5yZXJ3YXJlLmFuZHJvaWQuTXlCYWNrdXAiXQ.. then copy the folder on your sd card it (should be called reware) to your pc then go into settings hit backup and then reset and after that copy folder back to sd then download app again and hit restore
My HTC One S somehow got wiped or factory reset. All my pics, docs, etc are gone now. Anyone have a way to recover from this device? If damn HTC would have had an external SD Card this would not have happened!!
Unless you did a backup, then no, there is no way to recover them. Sorry. This is a lesson to ALWAYS have a backup of everything important to you on hand!

Yeah try the utilities from the thread villainhalf linked, don't think file recovery will work differently on the One S mounted as USB mass storage compared to if you could unplug an sdcard and move it to your PC... Always important when hoping to recover stuff after accidental delete or format is never write new stuff to your sdcard/HDD until you're done.

Also, to increase your chance of success, recover the file to another hard drive. Being you're recovering from your phone have the files saved to your desktop or an SD as suggested above.
I tried these utilities so far with no luck. They all see items that I have deleted(which is only a couple pics) since the format was performed however they don't see any items that were deleted from the format. I had about 15GB of items on the phone and now I only have couple hundred Meg. So I'm pretty sure that all of those deleted items have not been overwritten, but these utilites don't seem to be able to read the items prior to the format.
Any other ideas?
Here are the Utils I have tried so far:
- Recuva
- Stellar Photo Recovery
- Aid File Recovery
- Photo Retrival

There are many software that could recover your photos. I found this one - http://www.cardrecovery.com/photo-recovery/recover_photos_from_phone.asp. It is trial version. Who knows, you my get lucky. Try some forensic recovery software.

Recuva and Steallar are mostly for hard drive recovery on desktop or pc. So it's not a good choice for mobile phone data recovery. However, there are tons of such apps when searching on Google and hard to find a good one. it took me hours to locate the android data recovery app. I have been with this app for months and it helped me recover a lot of accidentally deleted files.
Please leave a message if you need further assistance on this. Good luck
i have deleted some pictures by this way >just mark the pictures and choose delete then after some time i have done factory reset to the device.
Now the question is: Are these pictures are deleted with the factory reset or still there on the device and not affected by the factory reset?
No one know ???
Please i want answer
It is just deleted !
Yes it is just deleted , then i have done factory reset
Once you select and delete, the images are gone...
The factory reset however, keep the images only if they are not deleted

Can i restore them after reset ? ?
Iam using xperia z3
Nope, when you delete something the bytes are still there but marked as "free space" by the file system, once after the deletion the memory needs to write something, it will overwrite the bytes that are marked as free space and the old file is gone.
When you did the factory reset, it restored the system, after that I guess that you have downloaded some apps or restored some backup, in that moment, the old data was physically overwritten, hence, all gone.
There are some apps that try to recover files that are marked as free space waiting to be overwritten, you cold try, but it depends on how much you have used the phone and how many files you have created/saved since the deletion.
