Sadly, that link isn't working anymore and the site that is suggested is only for CM9 updates.
The good news is that nightlies for CM7.2 continue!
Wish I had a changelog to read, though.

New July 8 nightly is out.
I flashed it last night, but without a changelog I can't tell what's improved.
Mostly my OG just sits on the table. :'(

I'm getting wifi crashing/rebooting the phone on the latest nightly.
Any version of CM7 that doesn't? Looks like cm 7.1 rc1 does it as well (steel droid).

I have no problem with wifi. Do you wipe dalvic and cache when you flash updates?
That's the minimum to do. If you are coming from a different ROM entirely then anything less than a full wipe is risky.

Nightly 9-30 has borked my D1 and my DInc2.
D1 would not even begin the update in recovery, just froze. Battery pull and now it won't boot. Stuck on M logo.
Booting into recovery gets me the top level menu, but any selection leads to a blank screen. Press power from the blank screen and you're back at the menu.
Managed to get the Dinc2 restored, but now have no network available, only wifi.
Crap.

Try this for your D1 (second section)
Hi, thanks much for the reply.
After more fooling around with the D1 I found that the recovery menus would respond properly from the keyboard enter button. I was able to restore the previous version of the nightly.
I tried flashing the latest cm nightly from two different download sources for the DInc2, but neither would install.
So, I am sufficiently recovered but not running the latest version. :'(
The lack of network on the DInc2 was me being dumb- the battery cover is the phone antenna. Doing lots of battery pulls? Don't expect network with the cover off. Sigh.

Hi-
My droid is semi-retired. It comes out of the drawer every couple of weeks for some play time.
I always ran CM7 nightlies on it. There's so little going on with CM7 that they are now on a "monthly" release schedule. Very reliable, no issues for me. I also ran Prime's kernel and overclocked a bit. Also the V6 SuperCharger script from zeppelinrox.
The ROM that gets a little bit more attention is Steeldroid. I never tried it, but certainly would. Lots of good responses on it.
Good luck with your OG Droid!

Yeah, I got the last Nightly running on my trusty HTC Incredible. There's been one more new cm7 nightly (20130301) but there hasn't been one released thus far since. I wonder if CM is going to announce a closure on CM7 channel, or it'll just be longer gaps between nightlies? Honesty the CM7 nightlies have been extremely stable

Seems that there are still some fixes sifting down to CM7 once in a while. I expect they will stop working on it at some point, who knows when. It won't get any further features, that's for sure.
It's a fantastic piece of work - very robust and stable, and the root source for countless custom ROMs.
Gingerbread still holds a large percentage of the android OS currently in use. Of course this will continue to slowly decline as devices are replaced.
Such is life.

Anybody try either of these yet? I've tried the Droid Inc2 (Vivow) build and it's great. Thats how I found the Xoom builds. I haven't seen anyone officially post them in the Xoom Development section. Milestone build date is 2/7/2012 . Might have to give it a try.

I have used their crespo (Nexus S) daily for awhile now and it is the best ROM I have ever used period.
The wingray version however needed some work...I say needed because the version I tried still had 3G icons etc in the status bar and other issues. These guys (Roman) are
frikkin OCD on perfection so when this was overlooked I stayed away til now. I dont even think he has a Xoom.
I'm sure they will get it caught up and then will simply kick ass like the rest of their work. I am about to try the latest build 25 and will report back.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one bugged by the 3G signal showing in the status bar on Wingray. It wasn't a huge deal, but one of those little things you always notice once you see it the first time. There were a few other things, but overall it's a nice build.
I also use AOKP on my Nexus S as a daily driver and I'm very happy with it. No big issues to call out. Once the wingray builds progress a bit more and those few little bugs are worked out, I'll most likely switch to it as my main rom.
Build 25 - 3G icon bars still there.... feels superficial however I didn't test much further . I will continue to periodically check in on them... but like I said - for this aspect to be overlooked then they're not paying attention to wingray for some reason
I am used the Kang rom for a while primarily because it has volume button wake built in. But after a while that tweak just stopped working so now I'm back on Bugless Beast for Xoom.. There's still plenty room for improvement for the Kang rom so I'll try it again at a later stage.
I've built from source and removed the 3G radio icon. It's something I'm sure they'll get to. I noticed someone posted a bug report on that to them already. I posted what they need to do to get rid of it. I might post my build but only after getting permission to do so from them. Run's great with my oc kernel.
Well from what I see they (Team Kang) have discontinued their Wingray builds. Rootz wiki has a pitiful thread that has dwindled and I see only a Stingray release for Xoom as far as the latest build 30.
WTF !
Anyone know whats up?
Great so far but one question to those using it.
Allow apps to write to SD card is in the feature list.
How do I access this? Using various apps I can only write to media memory. Even if I change the path to /mnt/external1/. It just creates that folder within the internal memory.
Any help would be appreciated.
When is 3G 4G Xoom going to get Ice cream?
i been asking that forever. I don't know what the deal is with Verizon not pushing out updates. I just don't get it. From what I read on Droid life is its ready to go but up to big red to push it out.
Just like the gnexus still stuck on 4.02 first carrier to have the phone last one to push out the ota WoW
Yeah it's very annoying. The problem is Verizon's testing procedures (or so I've been told) are VERY strict. Add to the fact that the Xoom isn't a priority device for VZW anymore, and yeah...we continue to wait. The WiFi-only Xoom has had ICS since December, and (again, so I've heard), Google had the ICS ROM for the 3G/4G Xoom ready not long after that. To add further insult to injury, Google and VZW pushed out an update to the 4G Xoom in February that was just a Honeycomb update (3.2.6) to fix data connectivity coming out of airplane mode. Annoying.
With the Galaxy Nexus, at least two 4.0.4 builds have been pushed to devices as part of a soak test (IMM30B and IMM76K), but neither made the cut apparently. But since they went out over the air, we have the files and can run those if we want to. With the Xoom, there hasn't even been so much as a soak test, that we're aware of anyway.
I wish I knew as well.
I've tried all of the custom ROMs and have had problems with each one. I've gone back to the Honeycomb stock ROM in each instance. As snappy & nice as the ICS is with the custom ROMs, the stock Honeycomb has been the most stable ROM ever, imho. I'm very excited about ICS coming out, but only if it's as rock solid as Honeycomb is. I'll wait a couple of more months so that VzW can get it right the first time.
Definitely. That Honeycomb 3.2.6 stock ROM is solid as a brick ****house. That's why I love it.
Don't know about you but I have had ICS on my Xoom for a while. Thanks Team EOS. And it is much better than anything Verizon would put out.

The stock ROM on the Verizon Xoom is still created and updated by Google. It just needs VZW approval before it gets released. TeamEOS isn't stable enough for my liking. Tried playing SimCity lately?

What's wrong with SimCity? (I don't game, so I'm really asking.)
Is the real issue perhaps merely that the game's not ICS-tablet-aware?

It freezes constantly. It'll run fine, then all of a sudden just hang forever, giving you the wait/force close dialog box. I don't think it's an ICS or app issue since people running stock ICS on the WiFi Xoom say it works fine.

Interesting. I haven't seen any indications of that in the main EOS threads.
Did you see anyone else collaborating this issue? Were you overclocked at all? Also, at one point we switched to overclocking the GPU by default, and I wonder if that's the issue (after all, my kernel improvements wouldn't have made any difference to a game, and we're nearly stock in anything else that matters).
I wasn't overclocked. OC always makes me nervous! Could be with the GPU...not sure. What I do know is that the issue was still there as of the stable 2.0.0 release.

My answer is "never." VZW will never release ICS for this thing. It was seriously doomed from the start.
That said, EOS has created an excellent stingray rom. Again, STINGRAY. And again, EXCELLENT rom. I'm not playing SimCity, but the Sims works very well and since the app was updated, it works even better. It was freezing on restart but now it doesn't do it anymore, which is something to say about how solid EOS' rom is--a problem with the app and not the rom.

Oh dear, not this again. Last year it was "We'll never get LTE" and/or "We'll never have writable SD-Card". It's obvious the tech is there, most likely it's due to either compliance issues (and with VZ that probably means they're trying to lock something down or take something away in the ROM they're intending to release ... the bastards) or they're waiting 'till some as-yet-unannounced LTE tablet(?) device comes out first. Apparently there's a ROM in testing at VZ, if the leaked screenshot has any credibility.

FROYO
Right now the most exciting ROM is the Sharp Froyo ROM by Bsydz - Everything works as far as I know, I think he also fixed the voice mail issue
http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...ed-sharp-2-2-2-triumph-updated-6-27-12-a.html
CM7
g60 style - final - This is a great ROM there is a few bugs but most users love this ROM as it's Gingerbread, HDMI does not work. There is also a handful of variants of the this ROM people have themed. The newest one, that is being built from source code is StarShip by chairshot215.
CM9
There is Mantera's CM9 which is a solid rom, however no Camera or HDMI. There is also AOKP by rukin5197 again no Camera or HDMI I have not installed that but I hear lots of cool features not offered on CM9.
G60 style is by far the best ROM as far as I'm concerned.
I am not a big fan of Froyo, but the Sharp ROM is smooth and everything works.
The CM9 stuff is pretty cool but not as fast or stable and the camera doesn't work.
If you want Ice Cream Sandwich, try the G60 style ROM with Holo launcher and the Cynocream theme. That's what I am running and the only difference I see is that there aren't widgets in the app drawer. Other than that, it is pretty much a complete ICS experience.
G60, I was going to post this in the Development forum, but apparently I am not allowed. I am also getting random reboots on your ROM. It never gets to the point of boot looping but it does reboot a couple of times a day. I also have been restoring all my apps and some app data with titanium backup. I will probably try reflashing and not using TB at some point to see if that works. I will let you know what I find. In the meantime, thanks for the awesome ROM! It made me happy to have this phone for the first time!

While I am a fan of Titanium I have found as I moved from g60 version to g60 version I started having more problems. Finally on my journey I recommend everyone do full wipes and dalvik. Then reload apps from Play Store. That always seems to put the issue to bed, it sucks because it's a lengthy process but that is a sure fire way to kill all problems.
Right now we have only 3 supported ROMs.
There are some others, but development has bees stopped, developers left or just putting things all hold.
The good news all ROMs are fully working! Well, almost.
1. Sharp ROM - almost Stock with a few goodies like fully working GPS and Tethering
2. CM7 g60 - as close as it can get to CM7 with all CM goodies minus HDMI and slow GPS. No updates but it is in progress, developers are here, still working, still coding.
3. StarShip - everything CM7 has + theme + few nice tweaks, frequent updates.
Yeah, the Sharp ROM is a port from the Sharp SH8188u. It is fully functional now with Ver6, just has 2 quick fixes that have to be done after you install the ROM. Other than that it is one of the fastest and smoothest options we have.
I was running G60's CM7 before I got the Sharp ROM working. It was very nice.
There are a few options out there but you just have to find what suits you and what you can live with and what you can't.
My current favorite is the CM7 Tickerguy Reloaded 3-25 FINAL! The g60 has some kind of wierd 360 launcher in chinese! The launcher and extra stuff does slow it down! I am currently in development for the Motorola Triumph! I have a new ROM that is called the GingerMOD. I will be tweaking the CM7 Tickerguy ROM!
As for FROYO: DON'T PICK FROYO! ITS SLOW AND BATTERY LIFE STINKS!
And there are no ICS ROMS out there with working camera yet sorry

Good ROM and a Side Note
Yeah, Starship is awesome! I highly reccommend it currently, as it has more of g60's tweaks (A GPS tweak, to be specific), than cm7-g60style even currently has in its stable form. The good news is that sometime in the future there will be a stable (not RC!) CM7 with rewritten device files, so a lot of the issues will be gone!
Beta ROMs
The latest beta mtdev.us release is great for me, at least. Although not everything is working yet, everything is smoother and much more stable. Also, no random reboots after about a week of usage (including leaving the phone on overnight several times). It's rock solid! :good:

7!
After playing with CM9 and CM10 for the past six months, I decided to flash back to CM 7.2 with the datadata fix and latest CM7 glitch kernel.
Results?
CM 7.2 makes my captivate feel like a new phone. It makes me wonder if Samsung was right, maybe our little cappy isn't powerful enough to handle above GB?
Has anyone else had similar results?
for me in JB (and the reason I flashed back) everything was laggy in every version of CM9, and CM10. Overclocking and installing faster kernels helped, but it STILL always felt lagged.
JB was really bringing me down, made me want to throw my phone out the window while waiting for Google Now to load.
Now, with 7.2 back on there my phone is snappy, google (which is WAY less complex) is snappy.
So after using it for a day here's some things I forgot about:
1) power saving features work correctly meaning ill have better battery life on cm 7. I tried having wifi shut off automatically in cm9/10 and it never automatically turned back on.
2) home and messaging are resident in memory. You have to flash additional add one in the newest version to get this feature.
3)faster app performance. Everything but scrolling is faster.apps open faster, games respond faster, touches aren't delayed. In cm9/10 I could text faster than my phone could display on screen. Not with cm7.
Do I miss the smoothness of butter and the slick ice interface?
Absolutely. It is a trade off.
Cm7 was good you can do a lot more but cm9 I really don't like love aokp tho I use that a lot but the only issues I have is when on Facebook or games my phone starts to heat up

Definately better than I was getting with cm9 or cm10.
don't recall stock froyo battery life being great. I haven't been on stock since last October.

yeah, like I said in the other thread, your mileage may vary. My phone has never made it through a day on a single charge, even on the stock rom froyo. now it's down to half a day.
That wasn't the only issue I was having with ICS/JB roms. in CM10 it would take literally almost 2 minutes for Google Now to load up. When messaging with SMS pop up, or the stock messaging App, the characters were ALWAYS about 15 seconds behind. Sometimes to the point of making me wonder if it was responding.
Some of this stuff is probably better in Slimbean, because they have trimmed the system and therefore trimmed RAM usage down to the bare essentials.
I have a captivate and my GF has a GSM Nexus S. The specs for the two phones are identical the Nexus S is just newer with a front facing camera and a flash.
She has gotten the stock update to Jelly Bean OTA. so that should show that our phone does have the hardware to support at least ICS. I am using the stable CM9. I can agree with you on the battery thing, but I bought a Samsung OEM 1800 mah battery that was meant for another phone (s2 i think), but still fits tightly. with the new battery my CM9 runs at least one day, sometimes maybe 2 with light usage.
Your post inspired me to try CM7 just for fun. So I reinstalled my old nandroid from january, and installed the latest nightly and glitch kernel, and I am amazed by the speed and fluidness. Project butter? This is much closer. Everything is super speedy, and all of my apps updated extremely fast. I really wonder what happened to all of the features that CM7 contained under the CM settings, but I suppose they were removed in order to save space. It's all great except I'm almost disgusted by the look of the UI after being on beautiful 4.0+ since november. I know I won't be able to use this for very long.

Try the GlaSSMIX theme, with the Holo ICS launcher.
It is interesting that they dropped so many features from CM9 that were in CM7.1 and 7.2.
hshaikh;
Perhaps I miss spoke; The phone is _capable_ of running the latest Android OS. In much the same way you could run Windows 7 on the lowest spec machine listed on the back of the box. But you'll get a much better experience running Windows XP on that PC, in much the same way, Gingerbread CM7 + Glitch runs better on the cappy.
Java is a resource hungry beast, and with the polish and UI improvement require more of both. FUNCTIONALLY there is not a whole lot of improvements between GB and ICS. JB adds more polish to the notification system, and Google Now.
Alright, this thread inspired me as well and few days ago i decided to flash CM7 from CM10 nightlies which i've never been before since i got this phone lol i just went straight to CM9. All i can say about CM7 in the cappy is O.M.G what a change so i decided to make it a keeper, how? well changing the UI what else lol so ok i took the plunge and made a Phone version of my RibbonICS tablet theme for CM7 together with ZduneX25 ICS layout patch and gee i'm proud of the result i'm loving it.
I have posted some screenshoots here, i'm still working on it i want to make it the best as possible.
Note: I will be releasing a slim CM7 ROM with the patches and the theme in few days, The font in the screenshoots is Comfortaa but i'll add roboto fonts to the ROM once i'm done with the theme.
If you can't wait and want to have a taste of the theme before i release it you can donate to me and I'll send you the the RC version.

That theme is VERY nice looking, look forward to trying it.
In the mean time I suggest GB users check out this theme, it's VERY polished and really makes the GB phone pop.

I missed this comment before, unrelated to CM7/9/10.
NEVER use the Facebook or Twitter app. Both stock apps are garbage. Unfortunately there is no good Facebook replacement, I've come to like Plume for Twitter, and until Slices hooks into system sharing is my goto app.
For Facebook just make a shortcut on your launcher to the mobile website. It looks EXACTLY like that app and functions faster.

I have made more modifications and fixed few bugs since last time check the new screenshoots in the same link above.
I just need to fix 2-3 other bugs and the theme will be ready to be released, i decided to make free and paid version and i'll be placing it in the google play. I will still post the CM7 slimmed down ROM with the patches and the free version of my theme when is ready.
Cheers!

For me, I have always liked the CM9 ICS ROM. I highly understand what you mean JB is very laggy due to the cappy being single processor phone in all.
CM7 Installation aborted
Hey Guys,
I was trying to do the exact same thing like the original poster but I'm getting installation aborted. Currently I have Slimbean 4.1 on my device and the CWMR Touch v5.5.0.4.
I did the following steps:
- Wipe Data
- Wipe Cache
- Install zip from sdcard and chose the cm7 file (stable). It goes through and then just gives me a Installation aborted. Do I need to have an older version of CWM perhaps? Any help here how you guys downgraded back to cm7?
Thanks.

Every time I go from a datadata to a no datadata ROM I flash the kernel first then reboot recovery and proceed. Example : DOCS v12 (ICS) boot into recovery flash JB devil or any other JB kernel then reboot recovery and install JB ROM. Vice versa if I'm going from JB to ICS, I experience no boot loops with that method just make sure you DONT reboot phone in recovery AFTER installing the kernel then ICS ROM with JB kernel wouldn't be a good idea.

Alright im ready to release the ROM i promised expect it today. Im still using cm7 with my theme and i have no intentions of going back to cm9+ but i just wish battery life be better on cm7, that's the only downside.
Im using latest glitch kernel with SIO and smartassv2, 100Mhz min and 1000Mhz max, default voltages. Any suggestions to improve battery life?

Thanks for the hard work!
I was running CM10 back in the day when it was not yet officially hosted by the CM team and I I went back to stock since there were a couple issues with the video recorder and other things. I see now that CM10 is officially being hosted by the CM team but they are still nightly, but I still would like to give it another go around. I was just wondering if there what are the major issues with the ROM right now (if any)?
The first posts don't really tell much except "it's a major work in progress" and the official change log might as well be gibberish to me, and I'm definitely not about to go through all 500+ pages, so if someone would give me a brief summary of what is/isn't working it would be much appreciated!

Its definitely daily driver ready. Just some wake locks making it not have as good battery life as sense. But everything else works great. The build bot has been broken since 10/12 so when the next official nightly comes out, it should have a bunch of new things... Maybe new kernel?

Sweet, I might just have to flash it again since I usually have a charger handy with me so battery life isn't a huge a concern. I'm sort of confused by what you mean about the next official nightly... I thought nightlys were released every... well night?

The night lies have been down because some changes were made to the code upstream that causes the Evita build to fail. They're working on the kernel fixes to get the night lies to compile again but apparently its very involved.

There was an experimental one posted today
my wifi doesn't crap out on the experimental nightly which was my only issue with 10/12
One should always read at min the last 10 pages of a thread of a Rom you might flash, an really it's expected of anyone.

Just a heads up dont know if anyone else is having this problem.
I rooted my 2.2 with the new 2.2 root instructions and downloaded the latest (10/25:experimental[cm-10-20121025-EXPERIMENTAL-evita.zip ]) cm10 build, everything works great, even wifi, except MOBILE data. I'm on straight talk, and man im getting slow speeds, nothing changed to APN, i think its a radio problem. anyone got any suggestions? I attached the radio link, which radio should i flash?
