Hi,
I just purchased a new HTC Touch HD phone T8285.
I have realised that it has come pre-loaded with a lot of Telstra configuration. I am not a Telstra customer and I would like to start with a clean phone in the factory shipped state.
I am in Australia and currently have a contract through Virgin (Optus)
Can anyone advise how I can reset the phone configuration so that all reference to Telstra is removed and that the standard factory settings are in place for Australia.
Any help is appreciated
Scott
Hi, welcome to XDA! You would need to flash a chef's cooked rom (must have HardSpl 1st). Check out the Blackstone section of this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=453
Also, read the Sticky's!
How do I determine which one of these posts is relevant to my HTC Touch HD...?
When I search for this there are a lot of listings.....can you point me to one that might be specific for my device and location
Apologies as I am new at this....
Thanks
Scott

Scott, just click the http link in my above post and then do your search
Thanks for that I can see those instructions and will attempt to follow them...
A further question should I attempt to first use the following ROM upgrade link from HTC to see if it resolves my problem. Rather then using the previous reset instructions...
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=533
Or will this simple return me to the current state with the Telstra settings in place ?
Thanks
Scott
Hi,
Before I work use the post above to re-install the ROM on my HTC Touch HD....could I confirm the following...
- will the re-install of this mean that I will not be able to take updates to the ROM from HTC in the future
- will this process work for me as an Australia mobile phone user ?
- does the install include all the Windows Mobile operating system on the phone ready to use
Once again thanks for you help......I am new to this and want to make sure that I don't stuff the phone that have
Thanks
Scott

- You can make any update in the future, cooked ROM´s from XDA are much better than any "official" version
- It should work
- Yes
Social Web - Remove Telstra Wap Redirections ?
HI,
Dont know if anyone can help ... I have been searching the forums, but cant find this anywhere, so apologies if it is answered somewhere else.
I have a new HD2 with Telstra. I have managed to remove the locked quicklinks on the home page, and completed a few other incredible tweaks, but I just cannot seems to get the Social Web links to work when connected to WiFi - they will work when connected via Next G.
On WiFi, when I click on the Facebook icon for example, I get redirected to waprd.telstra.com/redirect?target=facebook-g ... and then nothing happens for about a minute. Just a white screen until I get a message saying "Could not connect to the remote server" . Yet, when I am connected via Next G I connect to Facebook immediately.
I have tried to find the xml code to change the URl, but I cannot find it anywhere.
Is anyone else having this problem, and if they did, was there a solution? Overall I am really happy with the phone (now that I seem to have spent about 3 days tweaking it!) and I would really like to get this fixed.
Thanks so much in advance.

waprd.telstra
I'm having the same issues any waprd.telstra sites will not work in a wifi enviroment. While I'm asking does anyone know hoe to changes the icons in the telstra "news and sport" or "social web" screens" ?
Hey Magic3091
Unfortunately most of those items are hard wired into the ROM. And the ROM is written to Telstra's specs. Hence the branding and all the BS
I suggest you try a new ROM to remove all of these. You'll have to do some reading to find out which is best for you.
I only just got my HD, and having seen how much Telstra stuff is there I WILL be ROMing it. I just need to figure out which one. If I rememder I will post which I choose.
Currently the MIRI rom looks like the best - new WinMob6.5 and Touch flo.
Cheers

Hi all, I apologize if this has been asked somewhere. If so please direct me to a link as I couldnt find the answer.
I have recently rooted my HTC EVO with unrevoked. As you experts know to do this I need to UNINSTALL the HTC Sync software and install some custom Windows drivers that the phone connects with.
My QUESTION:
How can I now sync the phone with outlook (for calendar and contacts) as I did with HTC sync? Do I simply reinstall HTC sync?
Will that mess up the other Windows driver in case I need to unroot the phone at a later date?
If I am able to reinstall HTC sync, do I have to uninstall/remove the other driver first?
Thanks so much for any assistance.
I THINK that works, if I'm not mistaken that is what I did. I did the unrevoked root back in march and I have since been able to sync so I can only assume that was what I did. I have recently had some weird issues with my phone so I was reinstalling everything and came across this issue again, and was trying to find a definitive answer. I don't understand why your question wasn't answered, it seems to be hard to get an answer if you don't have several posts, but you have to ask stupid questions to get there. Obviously I don't think yours is a stupid question, but apparently the phone gods didn't find it worthy enough for an answer.....
Hi all,
I'm using HTC Sensation XE, i've just updated my phone to run ARHD 6.2.1 XE rom last night. After update to ARHD 6.2.1 XE, i realize that the Transfer app (Transfer my stuff) disappears. I think it was removed by ARHD's author. Transfer app comes with Ship rom and it is a useful application, i used it to transfer contacts, calendar events, sms from my old phone (BlackBerry) to SenXE through BlueTooth connection.
If you still have this app on your Rom, can you extract/export it for me (in apk format)?
Best Regards and Thanks for your help!

Hi,
Check the market for an app called "Bluetooth File Transfer".
I think it does the same thing.
Hi malybru,
Thanks for your suggest, i try "Bluetooth File Transfer" app but non successful. On my BlackBerry i turn on Bluetooth and set discoverable mode, on SenXE i run Bluetooth File Transfer app and select Bluetooth tab. This app discovered my BB phone and the paring process works fine. But after that it show an error "Can't load file data of target device"
Once again, thanks for your reply!
Regards
Hi there, I noticed this app in my downloaded apps section in the system settings. Don't recall downloading it specifically and searched on google and here didnt turn anything up. Can anyone confirm if this is a legit app? Is it the HTC sync that is installed when installing drivers/adb (as part of the rooting process etc)? If thats it then fine, but wanted to check it out as it has access to a lot of information. The app is 1.21Mb in size.
Im rooted and s-off'd and running virtuous inquisition rom. Grateful if someone could provide clarification.

Did anyone ever get back to you on this? I had to re-root my htc evo 4g and the rom I used has htc sync 900. It won't sync and my laptop htc sync program produces unknown error 1000.
Any clues?
Thanks,
Eric
@ efrice
I have been having the same problem, im on a un-rooted htc sensation. I uninstalled the htc sync version 900 from the phone and then tried syncing with the computer. It worked first time once that was gone. Hope that helps
