Then since you are rooted flash the CWRI then proceed to downgrade.

kind of a beginner to this...got any step by step links to do that

im making progress but very slowly i was able to install cwm with recoveryinstaller apk and had to copy the su folder from... so from there im assuming its just to boot into recovery wipe data/factory reset and install zip from sd card containing the updater launcher for the firmware i downloaded from asus site n that should restore to stock? is that it or am i missing a few steps

Issues with Recovery

I have a Transformer B70 and I used the Pure root 8.4.4.11 method
Shown here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104)
and I can't seem to get into recovery after following all the steps.
it seems to hang at "Booting recovery kernel image"

I'm having the same issue too.
And what is really weird is that it was working the very first time I did it, but after trying to root the 3.2 update, I can't get it to work anymore. Nor can I get the tablet to see the 3.2 OTA... I wonder if I borked it up somehow with NVFlash. Anyone got any ideas?
Did you read the note about recovery in first post?

my guess is no.
Yeah, I completely missed that. I need to sleep more instead of hacking tablets...
I still don't understand why it worked the first time I did it manually, but after restoring to stock via NVFlash, I can't get the exact same recovery.img file to boot on the same tablet.
Is there a way to wipe the whole flash and start fresh? I had this kind of issue on the GTablet and the full wipe clean and re-install to stock fixed it. Maybe I can look at the commands to do it in the GTab and adapt it for myself.
I just installed clockworkmod recovery though a nvflash method with a rooted 8.4.4.5

[Q] Flash Revolver ICS

I would like to flash the Revolver ICS on top of 3.11.1.
Do I need to do a full wipe (wipe data/factory reset) and then install Revolver ICS?
I have already taken a nandroid backup and also backed up my apps. Will I need to restore the apps after the ICS install?
Thanks
I just flashed Revolver 4 Beta 1 Snapshot 2.
No, you do not need to do a wipe. I just flashed it via CWM, wiped the cache and Davlik cache.
Reboot. Enjoy.
I would to ask, how can I flash from a stock ICS? I can't find a guide for ICS.
You need to first root your device. Search for NachoRoot or ViperMod in the Transformer section. I would use ViperMod option 1. Then you will need to install CWM Recovery (should be a link in the ViperMod thread).
Boot into recovery (shut down, vol down and power for 10-12 seconds, tap VOL UP when prompted to enter RCK.)
Then flash the Revolver ICS ROM. Clear caches. Enjoy. If it is really buggy do a factory data reset and reinstall your apps.
As with any flashing be sure to back up all apps and data before starting the process.
sorry but the vipermod thread is in eee pad transformer android development section? I can't find it.
Uhhh ya....posted this in the wrong place.... but if it helps anyone who is bootlooped cool....sorry for the rest
Try this
Go to the asus download site: and download the proper region firmware
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/#download
Unzip this file and copy the ASUS folder and evreything in it to a MicroSD
copy the file in the /asus/update folder to the root of your microSD and rename it to EP101_SDUPDATE
reboot to recovery (volume down and power then when you see the writing on the top left and corner press volume up)
you should then see an android with gears if this fails you probably have the wrong regional firmware
make sure you have the right firmware
Then you should get the notification triangle. This does not work for the tf101g or slider

It was actually in the general thread. Follow that to root, use recovery installer and install clockwerk. Make sure you make a backup. Then download the ICS rom of your choice, right now either CM9, Android Revolution, or Revolver 4, and flash that. Make sure you check MD5 sums too. I dont flash without doing this since i have a B80 transformer.

[Q] CWM recovery bootloop

I'm pissed that I installed CWM recovery... I wanted a factory reset, so I did it. Now everytime I turn on my TF101, I get directed to ClockworkMod Recovery v5.5.0.4. My computer doesn't recognize my transformer now, and IDK how to let CWM use my microsd. I don't know what to do... My serial number is b80, and it's ICS. Latest firmware. I rooted this device with ViperMod Prime, since it can also root TF101. Please help me? I want to get rid of CWM and unroot, so I can sell this.

CWM 5.5.0.4 only read from the internal sd.
Take a look here for the recovery loop problem

You're not "hard brick" heck I don't think you're "bricked" at all.
Can you still boot into the OS (ROM)?
Use RecoveryInstaller, install CWM again.
Download a stock official firmware from Asus (for your region)
Extract the zip file from within and put it where CWM can read it
Boot into CWM and flash the zip file.
Reboot

cannot use recovery after JB

I can get into recovery but after that then to android with red exclamation or usb fastboot screen or fdr screen cold boot. Once I get to red x andy I can go no further. Tried all combo of button pushes and will not go to blue menu for clear cache partition fdr or re start. I am trying to clean cache . It just sits at Andy then after about 5 Min's tab reboots by itself. Have tried about 6 times same thing happens each time, Any idea what is happening or what I am doing wrong or is recovery clean cache partition gone? Thanks
Other wise JB install went smooth no problems and tab is working well . seems smoother . Also kept root with voodoo.
Same here...
I had this same issuethis once, after update with the same intention, was considering either clear cache or to do a full wipe from that level as opposed to doing it through settings. Almost had a stroke u I saw the animated android with the famous (or rather infamous red triangle) Ended up using the one in Backup and Restore in system settings. Think I will try this again, since this concerns me. Anyone else seeing this? If recovery is broken in JB, we have another wait on out hands. Sigh
ditto, starting to see a trend...
Same here, I've had no luck getting past the initial stock recovery screen. Not good.
When you flash OTA update you lose custom recovery.
i have custom recovery installed on JB but it is useless. nothing wants to mount.

I am using Asus stock recovery. When I got tablet it was on .22 rooted tab everything ok. got ota for .26 kept root all ok still could get into recovery got .30 ota kept root again with voodoo. everything o k got into recovery wiped cache no problem. got JB ota everything ok tried to get into recovery and my above post happened? I am confused as to how jb is now custom recovery versus all other otas. What has turned from stock recovery to custom recovery

I kept root with OTA Root Keeper. So I was able to reflash TWRP from Goomanager. But anyway it cannot mount either the internal storage nor the microSD card. There seems to be no working recovery for JB, yet.

That's not entirely accurate... if you mount /system in twrp, you will see externalSD is mounted instead. Kind of goofy. Messed me up good, since I expected to install supersu through recovery. Now I have no root and no useful recovery! Anyone know the mount point cure?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda premium
still nothing

Has anyone been able to get past red exclamation point andy in recovery mode yet?

This recovery works with the JB Kernel. Flash it using fastboot.

I like a few others was stuck at the infamous red triangle with no way to get into TWRP. Lost custom recovery. Did the above mentioned in fastboot and was able to flash CWM and then was able to flash Supersu via CWM. Got me out of a jam, unfortunately missed the opportunity to NVFLASH on .26, had already upgaded to .30
merge thread?

Could one of the moderators merge this thread with Red triangle in locked stock recovery ? They are both concerning the same thing thanks Tom
