Hey Everyone,
I am hoping someone can help me out. I was originally using Krakd 1.5.2 ROM. I wanted to try out ICS today and did so via the directions on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514658
I used CWM and did a nandroid backup. I wiped data, cache, and dalvik.
ICS installed perfectly. However, I decided the stock version is not for me (didn't like the bloat/ads, the screen touch sensitivity was off, etc).
I went back into CWM and again wiped data, cache, and dalvik. I restored my nandroid backup from a few hours prior.
Everything installed successfully. However, I am now stuck at the "Eee Pad" screen (no moving dots at all). I can still get back into CWM via Vol - and the Power button. However, I just tried repeating the steps and I still get the same problem.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?
Thanks!
John
Your kernel did not get restored.
Do a nandroid restore, after the restore is done, flash the Krad ROM again (don't wipe).
Reboot and you should be fine.

So just to be clear...after I do the nandroid restore and get stuck in the boot loop, I should then VOL- and Power to get back into CMW, then flash Krakd again (without wiping?).J ust want to make sure I got that right.
Thanks very much for your help. I appreciate it!
Boot into CWM recovery, do the nandroid restore and when that's done stay in CWM recovery (don't reboot at this time yet). Go to the "install zip from sd card" option and flash the Krad ROM. After the Krad ROM is done flashing, reboot.

Thanks for your help. I followed your advice and now it's working again. Whew!

I have the Nexus S 4G from Sprint and I was trying out the new recovery from TeamWin. Here is what I did:
flashed TeamWin recovery, boot into recovery, made nandroid backup (compressed), reboot into recovery, full wipe, restore nandroid, reboot.
With those steps everything went fine and my phone was running as normal, so I decided to add another step to my testing of the new recovery.
reboot into recovery, full wipe, flash cm7 nightly, boot into freshly installed rom, setup rom as normal. Then I booted back into recovery, full wipe, restore nandroid, reboot.
This time it boots into bootloader saying no boot image or recovery found and this is where the trouble begins. I booted into recovery, and its still teamwin recovery so I try to restore nandroid again and same results. So I go and fastboot flash clockworkmod recovery and boot into it. I try to restore nandroid that I have backed up for clockworkmod and it says can't write boot image. I tried newer version of clockworkmod with no result. I tried fastboot flash back to stock and still boot image won't flash. Tried odin and it hangs at the boot image also.
Anybody have any ideas that I can try, or am I just screwed?

Try reflashing Clockwork Mod Recovery.

Do that, and if you have the means, try to check out the external sd on some other device to see what's going on. I'd start with pulling the battery for a bit and try flashing the backup again.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but if you didn't flash anything because of misfiling xboarder's rom, there was no reason to use the backup in the first place.

Where did you put your nandroid - internal or external SD? They would have been determined by the recovery option you chose - Internal or External SD. Your stock ROM would download the Xboarder ROM to internal in any case, but your nandroid location depends on the choice above.
Since you did a total wipe, you do not have a ROM installed, so you will not be able to boot up, but you DO NOT have a brick.
You could flash the Recovery again with the Oneclick Recovery tool and choose internal, and then you could flash the Xboarder ROM. After that, see if you can find your backup (in the clockworkmod folder).

I didn't know that a wipe from cwm clears out the rom. I only ever wiped before flashing something else so I assumed it was more like a factory reset.

As far as I know, the wipe data/factory reset is exactly that.
There's also a wipe system function, which wipes the entire ROM also. It seems he did that also.
As for fixing the phone, what gaww said haha. If xboarder's mod isn't there, then in recovery while the phone is plugged in, mount the sd card, and put a rom on there using windows explorer or whatever, then disconnect and you should be able to flash it.

Boot into recovery, go down to mount, and mount usb. Then find the file on your internal sd and move it over to the external sdcard. I have had to do that a few times when I forgot to move the file.
flashed a rom Eaglesblood 1.7, wiped cache/data, and now stuck on android bootup animation. tried to enter clockwork recovery with power+volumedown and it only goes to a "stock" android reboot if even that. Need a way to get into clockwork any way to help?
i still have the backup i made from my previous stock rooted rom in clockwork on my sd card is there a way to access that from adb or some program to flash it back on my phone?
Get into clockwordmod, goto backup and restore. Hit backup, choose your backup. Voila. Reboot.

I've been trying to do that. Power+volume down. however there is no menu for clockwork mod. it just goes into a box with a arrow and the android logo. and then goes back into infinite loop. I need to get into clockwork mod is the problem. How can i do that? Is it possible with adb?

Assuming you did nvflash recovery you should be able to get into it. If not I don't know if it will work but try to do the nvflash recovery. And if you did maybe try redoing the nvflash. MYte be worth a shot to try
How did you do that first recovery image? Maybe you "faked flashed"

Relash the recovery with nv flash again. Boot into recovery and restore your back up. Heres the nvflash instructions and downloads if u need it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847 also you typed flashed eagleblood wiped cache/data. You need to wipe data wipe cache partition wipe davlik cache 3 times then flash the rom . U need too wipe before installing the rom not after. Not sure if thats what u typed ment u did
Hey I think they are right reflash CWM see if that works and silver03wrx is right you have to make sure you do all of the wiping before installing any ROM. Just like you **** first then wipe. Or at least I do. silver03wrx I have a question you said 3 times does that mean we have to wipe each one 3 times? I have only been doing it once.

You need to use nvflash to install clockworkmod recovery the proper way to this phone. This issue has been asked and answered multiple multiple multiple times.
I've installed MIUI on the Nook Color and now would like to restore it back to factory settings, but can't! What am I doing wrong?
I've booted into ClockWorkMod Recovery and did a wipe, but it still boots back into MIUI. I also installed CWM on a microSD and booted into recovery from there to perform a wipe, and still it won't work.
Is there a way to perform the 8 interrupted boots??
Any help is appreciated.
Never mind... I think I figured it out.
I just have to download the complete restore file and restore from that.
Hi,
I have unlocked my bootloader(HBOOT 2.00.0002) using htcdev.com official method (still S-ON) and installed clockwork mod recovery v 5.0.2.0. Then I made a back up, I was running the stock rom (2.10.401.8). Everything went Ok.
Afer trying a couple of roms and getting some crashes, I decide to go back to my stock rom. Go to recovery, make the 3 wipes and restore. CWM says everything is ok. But after rebooting, every single time, the HTC white logo displays and them it goes to the clockworkmod screen.
Is there any extra step to restore a back up beeing s-on?
Flash the original kernel? I assume this still needs to be done even with a CWM backup?

After several tries it finally worked by flashing the original boot.img. Thanks!
I'm having the same problem again..
I flashed the ICS base rom (found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859700) and its boot.img through clockworkmod. My desire s is unlocked via htcdev, so its S-On, which means the new radio was not flashed, right?
So I want to go back to my gingerbread stock rom back up ((2.10.401.8). Boot into recovery, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache and wipe data, then restore the back up. Reboot into fastboot and flash boot.img extracted from the back up. Everything seems to be ok,but after rebooting its stuck at the htc white logo, and I've go through the whole proces 3 times now.
Am I doing something wrong or missing some step?
Thanks a lot!
