[Q] G2x help need way to restore - T-Mobile LG G2x

flashed a rom Eaglesblood 1.7, wiped cache/data, and now stuck on android bootup animation. tried to enter clockwork recovery with power+volumedown and it only goes to a "stock" android reboot if even that. Need a way to get into clockwork any way to help?

i still have the backup i made from my previous stock rooted rom in clockwork on my sd card is there a way to access that from adb or some program to flash it back on my phone?

Get into clockwordmod, goto backup and restore. Hit backup, choose your backup. Voila. Reboot.

I've been trying to do that. Power+volume down. however there is no menu for clockwork mod. it just goes into a box with a arrow and the android logo. and then goes back into infinite loop. I need to get into clockwork mod is the problem. How can i do that? Is it possible with adb?

Assuming you did nvflash recovery you should be able to get into it. If not I don't know if it will work but try to do the nvflash recovery. And if you did maybe try redoing the nvflash. MYte be worth a shot to try

How did you do that first recovery image? Maybe you "faked flashed"

Relash the recovery with nv flash again. Boot into recovery and restore your back up. Heres the nvflash instructions and downloads if u need it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847 also you typed flashed eagleblood wiped cache/data. You need to wipe data wipe cache partition wipe davlik cache 3 times then flash the rom . U need too wipe before installing the rom not after. Not sure if thats what u typed ment u did

Hey I think they are right reflash CWM see if that works and silver03wrx is right you have to make sure you do all of the wiping before installing any ROM. Just like you **** first then wipe. Or at least I do. silver03wrx I have a question you said 3 times does that mean we have to wipe each one 3 times? I have only been doing it once.

Try reflashing Clockwork Mod Recovery.

Do that, and if you have the means, try to check out the external sd on some other device to see what's going on. I'd start with pulling the battery for a bit and try flashing the backup again.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but if you didn't flash anything because of misfiling xboarder's rom, there was no reason to use the backup in the first place.

Where did you put your nandroid - internal or external SD? They would have been determined by the recovery option you chose - Internal or External SD. Your stock ROM would download the Xboarder ROM to internal in any case, but your nandroid location depends on the choice above.
Since you did a total wipe, you do not have a ROM installed, so you will not be able to boot up, but you DO NOT have a brick.
You could flash the Recovery again with the Oneclick Recovery tool and choose internal, and then you could flash the Xboarder ROM. After that, see if you can find your backup (in the clockworkmod folder).

I didn't know that a wipe from cwm clears out the rom. I only ever wiped before flashing something else so I assumed it was more like a factory reset.

As far as I know, the wipe data/factory reset is exactly that.
There's also a wipe system function, which wipes the entire ROM also. It seems he did that also.
As for fixing the phone, what gaww said haha. If xboarder's mod isn't there, then in recovery while the phone is plugged in, mount the sd card, and put a rom on there using windows explorer or whatever, then disconnect and you should be able to flash it.

Boot into recovery, go down to mount, and mount usb. Then find the file on your internal sd and move it over to the external sdcard. I have had to do that a few times when I forgot to move the file.

[Q] I am Bricked....i think

Ok, So i rooted my T-mobile G2x 2.3.3 and there were difficulties when i flashed the Cyanogen 7mod. The Rom worked but the only default was i didnt get data. Like i couldnt even get Edge. The only way to use internet and stuff was through wifi. SO then i reflashed it thinking it was a bad flash. But when i reflash through rom manager it gives me the option to downoad with google apps. so i clicked that option. It downloaded fine but on the reboot it stayed stuck on the 2nd LG screen. Am i bricked or if anyone can help id appreciate it alot.
U can't do it via rom manager. U have to flash recovery using nv flash, then u can try to flash custom rom. Remeber to wipe data and format system before flashing any rom.
U r not bricked yet
Check here to nv flash the cwm

Did you flash CWM via NV Flash. If not, do that. Then boot into recovery by holding down the power + volume down keys until you get the second boot logo. Then wipe the dalvik cache and the regular cache. That is usually why a phone refuses to boot.
Also, if your phone turns on it is not bricked. Bricked means when you press the power button nothing happens at all. You can be soft-bricked like you are, but it can be easily fixed. Nothing to panic about.
I did all of that im sorry if i gave you info wrong. Like i cant do anything it turns on but goes to the first LG screen then goes to the new LG screen with the blue streaks and it stays there. Then when i try to go into CWR it shows the LG with a blue and black loading bar below then shows as if its loading something then it just goes back to the blue LG screen and im stuck there.

You have stock recovery on the recovery partition, not CWM. You MUST flash CWM onto the physical recovery partition using NVFlash with the One Click flasher. You used Rom Manager and that doesn't install CWM onto the recovery partition. Once you have CWM properly installed you can enter recovery and revive your phone.

@OP, this is is correct. Use tga gunmann's nvflash tool from the development section. The process is super easy. Just make sure to follow his instructions closely. Just fyi, most people get errors during the nvflash process because they don't install the apx drivers appropriately, so take your time and read the instructions carefully.

Start off by wiping cache and then go to Advanced and wipe dalvik cache. If you still can't boot after that then try a full factory reset.
Just remember the first boot after wiping dalvik cache can take several minutes as android rebuilds the dalvik cache. All subsequent reboots will be MUCH faster.

Did you do as phburks said and go into advanced and wipe the Dalvik Cache. Most issues of not booting are related to the Dalvik Cache not being wiped after flashing a new rom. That is essential to getting your phone to boot again. A factory reset DOES NOT clear the Dalvik Cache.

The reason I ask is that with cm7 you have to flash 2 separate zip files. First you flash the actual cm7 zip which installs the rom and then you flash the gapps zip which installs the Google apps (market, gmail, etc). Make sure you have both on your sdcard and then flash the rom first and gapps second.

Im glad you brought that up because when i first flashed Cyanogen i did also flash gapps but after i flashed gapps thats when i wouldnt get data. Do you know the reason for this? or was it could have been another bad flash?

Not sure. I'd just play it safe, re-download both, wipe data, and reflash both. Sometimes its hard to determine which step went wrong and its best and quicker to just start with a clean slate and redo everything.
I wont be able to post for a while so good luck.

[Q] Phone doesn't boot

Yesterday i preformed a hot reboot because my phone was not installing apps correctly. I used the app Hot Reboot. When i looked at my phone again this morning it was still booting! I took the battery out and back again and pressed the power button. But how i try it keeps booting all the time! I can get into all boot modes but i don't want to flash a whole new rom 'cause i haven't backup all my stuff... What can I do? Will this be solved with flashing for example a new kernel or anything wich doen't reset my phone? I'd really appreciatie help!
Try clearing the cache and the dalvik cache in recovery, if that doesn't work tho you will most likley have to do a full wipe and re-install your rom.

Tnx but my phone still keeps on booting after wiping cache. Is there maybe a way to backup all my system 'n data files using adb or something?
It also happened to me this morning...u may again flash your device with the stock roms (froyo or gingerbread) again by using Odin Multi downloader...first power off the phone..then hold volume down+home+power on
To bring into download mode
Then flash the roms...it should restart....at least worked for me

I don't have clockworkmod recovery. Can I just flash the latest version of g3mod (wich involves cwmrecovery)? Doesn't it reset my phone if I flash that?
But are there no possibilities using adb? Because i run one of the first g3mod kernels...

Just flash the latest G3MOD kernel and use the CWM from that. It won't wipe any data whatsoever but if you get force closes it is recommended that you wipe the data from CWM. I don't really know how to use ADB but i think rudolf895 has a tutorial on youtube. Google 'rudolf895' and find his video that is called how to make your own custom ROM.

Help...Boot Loop After Trying to Revert from ICS

Hey Everyone,
I am hoping someone can help me out. I was originally using Krakd 1.5.2 ROM. I wanted to try out ICS today and did so via the directions on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514658
I used CWM and did a nandroid backup. I wiped data, cache, and dalvik.
ICS installed perfectly. However, I decided the stock version is not for me (didn't like the bloat/ads, the screen touch sensitivity was off, etc).
I went back into CWM and again wiped data, cache, and dalvik. I restored my nandroid backup from a few hours prior.
Everything installed successfully. However, I am now stuck at the "Eee Pad" screen (no moving dots at all). I can still get back into CWM via Vol - and the Power button. However, I just tried repeating the steps and I still get the same problem.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?
Thanks!
John
Your kernel did not get restored.
Do a nandroid restore, after the restore is done, flash the Krad ROM again (don't wipe).
Reboot and you should be fine.

So just to be clear...after I do the nandroid restore and get stuck in the boot loop, I should then VOL- and Power to get back into CMW, then flash Krakd again (without wiping?).J ust want to make sure I got that right.
Thanks very much for your help. I appreciate it!
Boot into CWM recovery, do the nandroid restore and when that's done stay in CWM recovery (don't reboot at this time yet). Go to the "install zip from sd card" option and flash the Krad ROM. After the Krad ROM is done flashing, reboot.

Better recovery than twrp?

I have recently been having problems with TWRP, when I factory reset to install a new rom it rests just fine then when I go to install the new rom the phone reboots and when it has restarted it hasn't actually wiped anything. Is there a better option for a recovery everyone would recommend?
Did you flash the recovery in the twrp app? Reason I asked is cause the app wanted to flash mine to the wrong partition.

TWRP works just fine here. Which version do you have installed? Sure you flashed TWRP for the M8???
And what do you mean with "hasn't wiped anything"?
You do a factory wipe (default under Wipe menu) and when you boot your apps are still there, you don't have to go through setup?
After performing a factory wipe, go to Advanced and save the recovery log. Post it here.

Yeah it doesn't wipe anything the phone restarts and all my apps and their data is still intact. I just finished recovering from a bad situation. I flashed philz touch recovery using flashify and when I went to the recovey to do a backup the screen went black and booted staight into the hboot screen, every time I tried to reboot the phone it would send me to the hboot screen. I finally got twrp back by fasboot from my computer it was the newest twrp I got to flash I believe 2.7.1.0 I tried to restore a backup but all it would was restore the system and stop when it got to system data. I even tried flashing a new rom and that failed also. I then installed the other twrp 2.7.0.2 because I read most people are still ueing it because of problems with theother one. The phone still wouldn't boot or flash a rom but I got the restore to work by choosing not to restore data after rebooting two or three times the phone finally rebooted and all my apps and their data were still the even though I tried to install and new rom three or four times. Im a little worried now about trying to flash anything now. Im not new to android but my last phone was rock solid and I never had to deal with this many head aches. Thanks for any insite you can offer and sorry for such a long post

RUU back to stock using the thread in the development forum. At the end of following the RUU instructions it gives you the option you flash a recovery. Select yes and flash twrp
